When randy bought villa we were a public limited company and it was reported all the way through the takeover, the fans knew what was going on, we will have to wait and see if it is dead or not

Have you ever thought about what would happen with all these players that Villa are bidding for at the moment should a super rich buyer were to be announced. Instantly their asking prices would shoot through the roof so I am not too surprised that we are hearing that the deal as fallen through, it could possibly save millions. Also making it appear that we are prepared to keep Benteke makes other clubs realise that they will have to pay 32 million if they want him. There is a lot of games played within football these days, just a thought.

I seem to recollect Randy getting getting back on his jet and flying home when a deal with deadly fell thro, only to fly back a few days later to complete. I am sure there is an element of bluff going on from one party or the other so I wouldn't be too surprised if something contrary were to be announced.

The 6 week exclusivity period was released by the club, timmys comments, albeit maybe 100% accurate, don't hold the same gravitas.

My gut feeling - keep watching this space, because it ain't over till its over.

My thoughts are this Flackie,the deal itself as been shrouded in secrecy since day one with people neither being told anything at all about it's progress nor indeed the buyers identity, so now all of a sudden how is it that everyone is stating that it as fallen through. I have not read anything of this coming from Lerner himself or from anyone who is directly conected to the deal, so until such time that an official statement is released concerning the deal I myself will be remaining sceptical on what I am hearing.

Sherwood said "I think it's dead now, to be honest." Please note the use of the two words "I think" which is not really stating that he knows anything for sure and the press just fill in the blanks to make the story how they wish it to be perceived.

I reckon you may have a point there, I think Sherwood is pretty clever with his press releases, taking pressure of players etc. I think his statement about Benteke's release clause at the end of the season was masterful. Chased away all the jokers and laid it out straight, either you pay or forget it.

Maybe this is another ploy of his, as you all have mentioned above.

Very disappointed that the takeover deal has crashed. Has Lerner been stringing us along to flog season tickets or am I being a little too cynical ?

I would be very concerned if there wasn't at least some genuine interest from others looking to buy the club with it being publically up for sale for so long, but who knows?

I'm hoping that now most of the bomb squad have gone, RL might throw a bit more money at it, & if Tekkers goes, he would trust TS to spend wisely on 2/3 quality players that'll make a massive difference, & let's not forget, we're still owned by a billionaire, he's made some mistakes for sure but I think his heart's in the right place, maybe the takeover fell through because whoever was trying to buy couldn't take us forward any better than he could

Would love to see this transfer come off. I've only seen a youtube vid of him (and we know how deceiving the highlight reels can be) but he looks to have it all; pace, power, trickery, a pretty vicious slide tackle and a willingness to get forward and make the play happen.

Wouldn't be too upset even without a takeover our transfer budget seems to have improved judging by the players we've bid for, been linked to and purchased. Randy will take a back seat now anyway and a new chairman will be appointed, just hope it's the right person

I read the same thing - Randy will be the owner for the foreseeable. Apparently Sherwood also said that 'due to financial fair play' we have to sell before we can buy - so that basically means Tekkers is as good as gone. At least he seems to be putting a little bit more cash in this time around, so at least that's a plus.

hes added that stupid 8mill tag to his contact, soon as one the big clubs comes along he can't jump ship quick enough and from what I've read the only reason the transfer failed was his medical not the fact he want to stay and play football, its only going to take another bid from a big team and we going to have same again

Well I've heard that he asked for a really low release clause in his contract at City so he could leave if he didn't get game time. They rejected so he pledged his future to the Villa.

I think the chances of delph doing another u-turn is unlikely now no matter who comes in now. Not sure him failing a medical is true but if we do have a new owner come perhaps we should try an offer a bumper deal an get rid of the release clause. More money for him an we can ask what we want. win win really.
