Would any Villa fan be happy to see Michael Owen in a villa shirt? cant be any worse than the long list of mis-fits we have had in the past?

No way!!

Agree9 Disagree5

Yes his way past his best would be on a huge wage and his just poor his just a poor version of Emile Heskey

Agree8 Disagree8

Ya would like that but only on pay as you play deal

Agree7 Disagree6

Hmm defoe for 5-8 mill or owen "injured forever" for free.

Know who I want :)

Agree9 Disagree2

I would, on his day , Little Mo is un-playable & could help Weimann develop.

Agree7 Disagree2

Just a quick one to throw in the hat.
forget all this crap about who is comin in and who we are looking at. all the names that have been mentioned are pie in the sky, take it from me Scott Dann and an unknown will be the only other new signings before the new season, that will do for me to be honest. I Know

U haven't got a clue! Idiot

Id luv to see M. Owen at VP! His goals to minutes ratio at united is pretty good so he still has that naturall ability to put the ball in the net! He always looked a threat when he played for united and his movement is in my appinion the best in football. An i dont think owen would expect big money at this stage of his career! He just wants prem footy.>scg87

Agree5 Disagree3

Owen wud be a signing we would of made in the past but not now! we need to change and accept who we are and where we are going!! new vibrant squad and loyal to the cause thats all we need in my eyes ? love villa to bits !!!!!!!! ?

Agree4 Disagree3

Pay as you play deal. Then yes for cover for bent but wouldn't want to use our tight budget scheme for people past their sell by date

To the poster that said "U haven't got a clue! Idiot." I posted several weeks ago that we might not get involved in many transfers this summer and this is proving to be a reasonable shout. Lerner will not loosen the purse strings as he wants to keep the books balanced. His interest is in reducing the wage bill, I believe he told MON this and that could be why he threw his toys out of the pram. Too many primadonors at VP and they have to be moved out. Lambert is there because he is expected to motivate the present staff, did he sign knowing this, I think so. So dont expect grade 1 players to arrive. Owen will score goals but he would be on a pay for play. Lerner wants performance related earnings, this was reported over 12 months ago, therefore Lambert will not get a treasure chest but he may get a carrier bag with a few old notes in it. You may all disagree, I fully accept your opinions/hopes, but facts are facts. Keep dreaming, it may be all we have!!!!!

Agree4 Disagree2

Never,,,why would we want players incapable of positively affecting teams we intend to emulate. Owen is no longer EPL standard player MLS haven't even considered a bid for Owen y should blackpool let alone AVFC, Defoe would add nothing and did not aid Bent at spurs do Santos would be better, However I hear Sofiane Feghouli & Yacine Bharami are Paul Lambert's top targets @AVFC for 2012/2013 premiership charge. and what a difference they would make to the new philosophy of possession/passing/technical ability and channeled aggression

Agree3 Disagree4

How is saying we won't be involved in many signings a reasonable shout? Think about it. The transfer window has been open for 14 days and we've signed 3 players, that makes it an absolutely terrible shout in my eyes, as that's a signing every 4.6 days thus far. And we know that there will be more players as he's already said there will be more coming in. And then there will be players leaving, meaning we will be involved in a lot of transfers compared to normal.

Agree6 Disagree3

Hoping that our flagship signing should be Feghouli worth more than a punt @ £9-10Mill followed by Bharami at a reasonable price £3-4 mill would seal the deal plus steal have players to be sold Bringing in a solid Central Defender, that would make an awesome squad capable of direct dynamic possession football

Agree1 Disagree0

Pointed out before that I said might not be signing many players. History is one thing : asigning every 4.6 days: that means we will be signing at least another 11 players. Wake up, smell the daisies, be aware, Lerner will not waste anymore money. I want to see more signings to make my team competetive but I am not holding my breath.

Agree0 Disagree1

If we sign Owen wouldn't that be a waste of money as you see more often down the racetrack/treatment room rather than on a pitch...I'd rather have Heskey back...

Forward Ciprian Marica is the latest name being talked about, his record in Germany doesn't really suggest he'll cut it at Villa? so seems an odd target.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Agree, his record at club level is poor, wouldnt make any sense in buying him

Agree3 Disagree0

Ed, talk of Defoe being available for £5m, personally think for £5m Defoe would be one of the buys of the decade although i can see his price going up to £8m atleast. Are villa showing any interest in him? {Ed043's Note - there has always been rumours since MON was at villa however at this point in time there has been no rumours but i would love to see bent and defoe as a partnership}

Agree5 Disagree3

I agree that Bent and Defoe would be a good partnership up front and from the support of the midfield we would have more goals to cheer about next season, however if Defoe was to leave Spurs I think he is more likely to go to another London club like QPR or Fulham. I think Owen would be as good with Bent up front. He just needs more games than he was getting at Man U and he is a proven goal scorer in the Prem.

Reading are in talks with jermain defoe
