a website reporting Sunderland chasing signature of James Milner, wouldn't that be a coup for Villa to nip in a do a deal. Just the calibre of player we need

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Can't see us paying his wage demands! But yes I would have him back. He has far more quality than anybody in our squad. Can't see him taking a step back though!

Agree7 Disagree1

WE can't afford his 80k a week wage unless we sold bent who's on 90k with bonuses

Agree3 Disagree1

He is better than us and Sunderland at the moment. Would love him back, maybe if we can survive, get Dunne, Hutton and Ireland off the wage bill and have hungry young quite talented players then Milner may fancy it then

Agree3 Disagree0

You should be ashamed I was at the wba match I support the villa 15 mins to go a mass exodus of villa fans leaving the stadium, shame on u, disgraceful.yet you come on here saying sack pl, do this, do that, you know who you are

Fulhams hangeland to sign for villa at the start of next week, cheap purchase for a solid defender with prem experience.

Believable13 Unbelievable8

Don't think so he's going to Sunderland villa are a small selling club that's why no decent players will go to you anymore.

Agree5 Disagree12

History wise and global power wise villa are up there with man u, while Sunderland are down at the bottom with Barnsley

Agree11 Disagree3

You sound rather bitter. He who laughs last eh. Mon was significantly responsible for mess we have been in signing pensioners and giving them massive contracts. He will do same to you and you are hardly setting the world alight . We have had horrendous injuries and are only 3 points below you and in cup semi final. What's your excuse

Agree7 Disagree3

At last someone else who has seen MON for the outdated, overated manager he is.

Agree7 Disagree2

MON is to blame for the mess we are in? Surely Lerner was happy to sanction larger salaries in an effort to push for champions league? Had MON not paid the larger salaries we would not have had the relative success we did. Why is it that Villa fans immediately slate MON when his name is mentioned? Yes he left us in a bit of a lurch before the start of a season but to simply forget the good times he created for 4 years is bewildering

Agree4 Disagree4

Not quite sure why Sunderland fans have a problem with Aston Villa. Please enlighten me. If it's over Darren Bent then come on we paid over the odds for him, you got a good deal out of that
All clubs are selling clubs if the right deals come along even Man you (Ronaldo anyone?) it's how you re-invest the money that counts. Villa's record in that department recently has been woeful due to MON, Lerner, Faulkner putting average players on stupid contracts so we have been using some of the transfer fees to clear debts. Further you have to have the decent players to sell in the first place!!!
Out of interest how much are Flecther, Cuellar, Johnson and O'Shea on at Sunderland?

Agree4 Disagree0

MON fitted Villa like a glove - he understood the need to connect with the community and having been a player during the time we won the European Cup appreciated the history and size of the club. The optimism engendered by Randy/MON in those early days is what we miss most.

But there were some dodgy signings and obviously something went seriously awry. The club hasn't recovered since and weak leadership has resulted in poor decisions to employ Houllier and McLeish, compounding the problem.

PL also fits the bill quite neatly (he 'gets' the club) but he has had to accept that RL won't bankroll as before. Bold moves to play young players has backfired and I don't believe that RL has any faith in PL.

PL will fall on his sword by the end of the month. Not happy to type that but RL won't risk relegation before next year's TV super-payout.

Therefore, no players in until a change of management.

Roberto Di Matteo in from Monday.

Agree12 Disagree4

Are you seriously criticising RL for backing MON? Lol. RL trusted an backed MON which is what we all wanted, he gambled it didn't pay off an then when finally RL decided to sort the finances out MON jumped ship. I have no doubt MON will jump ship at Sunderland as soon as they say know to his demands

Agree6 Disagree10

Er, no...please read again. RL was the best possible thing to happen to the club when he arrived and was the perfect foil to/for MON.

If you are suggesting that RL did the right thing by revising wage structures etc; then I would agree with you.

However, do you not think that there is a problem with recruitment i.e. managers and players? In that regard, I think the finger might point towards Paul Faulkner rather than RL.
Very poor decision brought Houllier and McLeish in, along with some exceptionally bad buys, with whom the club is lumbered -and still on high wages! So whither RL's new structure then?!

This season has been a brave but ultimately foolhardy experiment.

By the way, Sunderland have backed MON recently (in difficult circumstances) and for players we might have brought in - suggests the opposite of what you say about them.

Most managers have around 2-3 years' maximum at any one club. MON will leave Sunderland one way or another and the club rolls on...just like the Villa.

Only difference here is that we cannot afford to go down - the revenue loss would simply be too great.

On that basis alone, how can PL survive? And I say that as a fan of the man.

Agree8 Disagree0

Can RL afford to sack PL? It will cost him a few million in compensation!

Villa linked with 3 million pound move for Graham Dorrans

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Dorrans will aid us in getting relegated....but hey, atleast hell be making more than he would at Albion.

This is a useless signing. He is not any better than KEA. Hell id rather play Clark in the middle before spend 3mil on this useless person

Agree5 Disagree2

It is simple all we need to do it buy Olson lb from Blackburn.
Dawson cb spurs
Huddlestone cm spurs
Coutinho cam inter (once we have got the most important positions sorted)

Agree10 Disagree5

Agree with the players named above. Dawson & Huddleston to bring some experience to our spine & Coutinho t bring quality and creativity.

Agree4 Disagree1

Dorrans is to good for your club walk in to your midfield straight away

LA GALAXY are considering a move for Richard Dunne if he can prove that he has overcome his struggles with injury.

The Aston Villa defender is yet to play a game this season after a number of setbacks in his recovery from a groin problem, and his club future is up in the air with his contract at the Birmingham club due to expire this summer.

New York Red Bulls want to bring the Dubliner Stateside and it's understood that MLS Cup champions Galaxy are now also monitoring his progress.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Dann and olsonn from Blackburn??

Agree4 Disagree11

Martin olsson defo! Quick, strong, aggressive, good defensively an good going forward an he proved he was a prem player last season even in a crap team

Agree9 Disagree3

GEt rid of him. save big money on the wages but we need to bring in an experienced centre back! and NOW - Lescott, Hangeland, Dawson or Heitinga

Agree1 Disagree2

All of those players will be on at least the same wages as Dunne if not more

Agree2 Disagree1

I could go crazy reading this. You are suggesting to get rid of Dunne to save big wages and then demanding we bring in (effectively replacing Dunne) Lescott, Hangeland, Dawson or Heitinga. Are you serious? All of these will want a wage similar to what we pay Dunne if not more! Dawson turned down big bucks at QPR because it wasnt enough. Please get realistic.

Aston Villa have made an enquiry for Inter Milan winger Philippe Coutinho, according to the player's agent.

Reports emanating from Italy claim Inter have rejected Villa's offer for the Brazilian as Paul Lambert looks to bolster his squad in this month's transfer window.

Southampton have been credited with an interest in Coutinho, who has fallen down the pecking order at Inter and spent last season on loan at Espanyol.

Coutinho's agent, Cacau Barbosa, has confirmed Villa have made an approach for the 20-year-old, but nothing has been agreed for a possible move to Villa Park.

"I can confirm Aston Villa made an enquiry for Coutinho, " Barbosa told FC Inter News.

"They want him, but with all due respect for the proposal made to Philippe, at this moment there is still nothing concrete to suggest an exit from Inter."

Believable6 Unbelievable4

The lad has great skills and vision, come on Lerner get your wallet out!

Agree4 Disagree3

Villa have turned down the accusation to TV after news "broke" that apparently we'd had a £10m bid rejected.

Agree2 Disagree2

Never heard of him but what is being said sounds good. we need someone to link play between our midfield and strikers...but we need width desperatly as we have never properly replaced Young, Milner & Downing

Aston Villa's search for a new striker could lead them onto the trail of Stoke frontman Kenwyne Jones and Swansea forward Danny Graham this month.

Villas bid for coutinho was rejected around £9.5m, just shows he has been given more than £10m to spend, he wudnt blow the lit in one player,

Believable9 Unbelievable2

I think if the bradford, chelsea, spurs and wigan losses wouldnt of happened villa would of been given 10m but when its worth 90m just to be in the prem compared with the 35m a team gets in the championship. I reckon Lerner is willing to invest to keep villa a prem team he just wants the manager to build a team rather than buying his league place with overpaid players

Agree5 Disagree2

If I remember right Lambert spent 20 Million at the start of the season, and look where that has got us. {Ed007's Note - If you don't stop trying to be a smart ar$e and posting as a Villa fan and a Norwich fan I will block you. It is one of the most pathetic things people do on the sites.}

Agree5 Disagree1

Sorry Ed 007, are you telepathic? {Ed007's Note - You know the answer to that.}
