I see we are being linked with Eden Hazard. Presumably his wages are too high for the current encumbants and they are looking to offload him to a Club with more money than sense. I really hope this doesn't happen.

same mate we don't won't past it players no more bad enough with coutinho, hopefully just bs papertalk

2.) 07 Nov 2022 10:00:46
El Nacional in Spain today again reporting Newcastle and Villa are interested in bringing Hazard back to the Premier League. At 31 and with no goals in at least his last 21 games (apart from one in the CL) with Emery on board, I would think we can do better.

3.) 07 Nov 2022 13:58:42
Agree Menace, let's hope it's the barcodes he's going to.

Bailey due to play, according to his Dad.

Villa56

1.) 28 Aug 2021 10:20:56
Don't know how I feel about that.
We all know what's going to happen.

Dad says I can play football
He'll then get called in for tea.
Takes his ball home with him
Screws it up for the rest of us.

Some on here have debated whether or not Jack might come back. It made me wonder what if he never went? A sliding doors moment. Would we be doing as well? There would be no Bailey, Ings or Buendia and maybe a few others. Would Dean Smith still be there? Would we still have suffered Gerrard? Are we in a better place now than we would have been if he had stayed?

Villa56

1.) 11 Dec 2023 12:03:23
Very good question 56, probably unfair to say I’m glad he left but we are a more complete unit now, I think the chips have fallen in our favour, worked out for jack also, you would wonder would he prefer to be on the cusp of a wave with the villa right now though.

2.) 11 Dec 2023 12:34:47
I expect he is happy with his trophy cabinet, but he must be looking on with a little bit of envy at the moment. I'm sure he would love to be part of it. The twelve months before he left were special for us and him, but when I watch him play he is a different player now. He takes less risks. It is difficult to imagine it could have worked out better for us though.

3.) 11 Dec 2023 13:42:30
Also he in my opinion he wouldn't get in this side now he had that xfactor at villa now its gone every time he had the ball at villa you thought he could do something he was our gazza at villa, i think all the flair and skill he had has been coached out him in my opinion at villa ud pay to see him play .Also would he want to come bck aswell sharks don't swim bck and 2nd comings never work out as much as i love him as a player

4.) 11 Dec 2023 16:49:38
I don’t think Jack would be as critical to Villa as he was before but for me he would still start. I agree that Guardiola has coached the maverick element out of him, but that’s a quality you either have or you don’t he could get that back given the right encouragement and Emery would be the coach to do just that. If we qualify for the Champions League I would enquire about bringing him back imagine adding him to the current squad!

5.) 11 Dec 2023 18:35:09
Imagine a 4 of Grealish, Watkins, Mcginn and any 1 of Diaby/Tielemans/Bailey. That would a dream for any team in the league if you could keep them all happy.
If we'd have kept Jack then it's difficult to say where we would be. I think Smith would have improved us, but with only Shakespeare as an assistant, he probably would have struggled to get us to this level. We'd also have been relying on Lange for transfers, didn't fill me with confidence but most of his signings are still playing regularly.

What a great attitude from Emi Martinez. He recognises that going to a 'top' club to win trophies is easy. Winning something with us is a real challenge and makes it all the more worthwhile. Pity the mainstream media have pretty much ignored it because it doesn't fit the narrative for Man Utd. Shame Jack didn't have that same recognition.

Villa56

1.) 03 Mar 2023 09:42:49
I get what you are saying 56 but it’s easier Emi to say that with FA, Copa America, and World Cup winners medals in his trophy cabinet Let’s be honest Jack was never going to get anything like that with us, and let’s see what the summer brings if someone like Bayern Munich comes along with a bid will he want to stay then?

2.) 03 Mar 2023 14:06:16
Maybe Emi could be used by Emery getting a deal that significantly benefits us by letting Emi go. If there is a deal that suits all parties he will go in the Summer, if not he may stay with us for the foreseeable, providing we show signs of significant improvement that matches his ambitions.

3.) 03 Mar 2023 18:14:25
I think he will do at least one more year. Of course if we don't get near to the top four spots I would expect his agent to start making noises, and I wouldn't blame him moving on.

4.) 03 Mar 2023 18:34:31
Ian Ladyman from the Dmail reckons that Emi is at best the 6th in the premiership.
He puts Ederson, Allison, De Gea, Pickford as the top 4.
What planet are these reporters living on?
Do you rate any of these above Emi?

5.) 03 Mar 2023 20:48:57
Well I think you have answered your own question TOV. The guys from the Daily Fail, if he told me Tuesday followed. Monday I wouldn’t believe him until I checked the calendar?.

6.) 03 Mar 2023 21:43:01
i rate all 4 emi better than pickford thou

7.) 04 Mar 2023 00:43:25
Can't see Emi leaving, I just don't know where he goes - Linked with Spurs tonight, can't see him pushing for that move or them stumping up with Villa would demand. I think it would take a 60M bid for Villa to even consider selling him and I don't know where a bid like that will come from in the summer. Chelsea potentially if they sell Kepa, but beyond that where does he go?

8.) 04 Mar 2023 08:30:19
The only English club who I could see bidding for Martinez is Utd, but that all depends on De Gea’s future, I know his contract expires at the end of the season and he is on something like £375k a week, if you could sign Emi on £200k a week say over 4- 5 years the transfer fee virtually pays for itself, and Martinez is a better keeper in my opinion. If he does go I think it will be abroad rather than to a club in this country.

Anyone else starting to wonder if the Premier League game officials are taking bungs? Just watching MOTD and the pathetic misuse of VAR is beyond incompetence. Time after time it favours the same teams as well.

Villa56

1.) 04 Sep 2022 14:40:57
There has always been a bias by officials towards the bigger clubs .The whole thing has to be looked at,VAR has just added another layer,of incompetence. The ref yesterday,as shown by his actions, just couldn’t wait to blow up where Villa where concerned. The have started to let certain tackles go,but this opens up another can of worms, when you have a bias ref in the first place .Whether some are afraid of upsetting, the big time managers I don’t know, but yes it needs looking into .

2.) 04 Sep 2022 14:46:05
56 When you consider VAR was bought in to get decisions right, yesterday proves that referees stick together and the VAR man is not an independent view without bias. I have advocated that we should have a reciprocal agreement with france Germany Holland Italy Belgium using the top referees that officiate in the champions league. The technology means they can be based anywhere, of course there may be a small element of referees sticking together however they are far more likely to being independent. let's not forget the premier league referees get together round the table on a regular basis and there is a lot of friendship within the clan.

3.) 05 Sep 2022 10:15:15
I agree with most that VAR and general officiating hasn't had a good weekend, or even a good season so far, but the nature of the conversation around referee's role in football has to change before we'll see any meaningful improvement to how football matches are played and officiated. There is a culture within top level football that has been allowed to grow and get worse every season with players and coaching staff constantly lowering the bar in cheating, influencing and misleading the officials and winding up the fans in the process. It is absolutely mental that this is permitted for 90 minutes and then all the focus is on a disallowed goal or bad offside decision. There needs to be a big culture shift and strong leadership by governing bodies (assuming that clubs can't be relied on to improve themselves) to turn this corner before we'll see any substantial shift. Need to stop focusing on the symptom and start focussing on the root cause.

I see SG has stated the result tonight is very important. I don't think that bodes well. I would much rather he said the performance tonight is very important. I now expect a fairly stubborn, but uninspiring display.

Villa56

1.) 31 Aug 2022 12:00:32
SG will be gone after the Arsenal game and the transfer window will close leaving you with an uphill battle.
New manager will have funds in January and you will finish around 14th this season.
Meanwhile over at the Golden Palace we are pleased to announce the signing of Sasa Kalajdzic also known as the Austrian Peter Crouch who has chosen the number 18 and so the queues at the megastore form once again as The Dingles receive 18 per cent off club merchandise to celebrate our new signing, three points away at Bmouth and our climb up the table to once again be top Midlands club.

2.) 31 Aug 2022 12:31:43
il take 14th neve i'd snap your hand off right now, with the right manager we will be better, poch, potter, rodgers, dyche will get villa going again we have got good players,it was just wrong appointment by purslow who will also lose his job and so should lange been awfull aswell

3.) 31 Aug 2022 14:09:07
Lol neve I love your optimism Having still not won a game this season. maybe he should of picked 19 to reflect your position in the league

4.) 31 Aug 2022 15:24:52
Whack are you back fighting fit, or did the tablets work

5.) 31 Aug 2022 22:49:48
Bleeding from both eyes after watching us tonight

Kienan Davis didn't make the U21s. Must have broken down again. His injury record sure has hampered his chances of anything resembling a career.

His stats are good, and there is a video of him doing a scorpion kick goal similar to Girou for Arsenal a few years back. Looks like he's going to Fiorentina though.

No, I think it is more the agents getting excited about our form thinking they can drum up interest. A right back, maybe. A goalkeeper slightly less likely. Other than that I don't expect any business in January.

Didn't look great at Spurs. Not sure he suits the Premier League. If this is true it surely must be just for cover while Mings is out.

Totally agree RK. This is often overlooked. Teams like Newcastle and Tottenham, and Leeds not so long ago, play high tempo and as aggressive as they can get away with. It's to the detriment of themselves and their opponent on the day. It's their choice but they deserve to suffer more injuries because of it.

I think it might depend on getting top 4. Champions League will make a big difference. Regardless, we are in a good place personnel wise. If we had nothing to spend we can still challenge with what we have. Don't forget the ACL injuries coming back will seem like new signings next season.

I don't think he will ever change. Nice guy, great footballer, but just wants to party all the time. I don't think Unai Emery would have him back at Villa, if the chance every came.

I agree Whack. It looks like it could come down to Man City and Arsenal away. I fancy us to get something from Liverpool as well. It's how we handle the pressure of bring in the race. Will we have a nose bleed?

I'm sure we will as soon as FFP allows us to. In Unai we trust. And always remember Rome wasn't built in a day. We are on a journey.
