Sorry about this but I had to respond.
In reply to Kingvilla and ste76 about Lansbury yesterday.
Firstly Kingy, Lansbury has played in all midfield positions, and has played RM for Arsenal, Watford and Forest, and it has been stated that he was very effective, he has also played as a roaming number 10, also very successfully, it might sound silly but it worked, he needs games and trust.
So stating that he would be out of position, is your opinion, his earlier career says you are wrong.
Not sure if you remember Terry Cooper (Leeds) played as a winger, converted to arguably the best LB in England by the great Don Revie.
Also Gareth Bale, started as LB, he was then converted to a very effective attacking Midfielder.
Nothing is set in stone mate, if we all carried on doing the same thing every day the word progress would be gone from the English language.
You also said having two maverick type players up top would be risky, why would it be risky, Kodjia is maverick yes, but El Ghazi no way, and why not take some risks, we need to do something and get away from watching this boring predictable crap every time we play
Ste76, you obviously find it hilarious suggesting Lansbury playing RM, can I ask why, Emoji`s really.

{Ed001's Note - just one slight point, sorry I am pedantic and can't help it, Bale actually started out on the wing, then dropped back to left back, then got moved back forward again. When Wenger sent someone to scout Walcott, the guy (I can't remember who it was now but it was a famous ex-Arsenal player) said to forget Walcott and sign the kid playing on the other wing, who was Gareth Bale, but Wenger ignored him.

Other than that, I don't actually disagree with your point at all - you only have to look at Milner who is probably playing the best football of his career right now in central midfield but also did very well for a season at left back and of course started out as a winger.}

Thank you Ed, I wasn`t sure about Bale starting as a winger, so I thank you for that.
And a what another great point you make about Milner Ed, a player most managers would want.
At least you can see the point I am trying to make, thank you again Ed.

Milner was playing central mid for Villa before moving on and was probably one of best in that position at the time. Problem was England trying to play the likes of Lampard and Gerrard in the same team all the time when it just didn't work. Milner and Barry for club and Country would have been by far more effective. Moving clubs and taking a bit part instead of regular football also affected his progress in this position and just goes to show grass not always greener for your career being in reserves or bench among the rich and famous.

{Ed001's Note - if I had gone into full details of Milner's playing positions we would have been here all night! He swapped back and forward between a number of different roles throughout his career. I remember Downing playing central mid for yous as well, and doing well there. Millie has a fantastic attitude to training and works so hard it is hard not to like him.}

However by leaving Villa when he did and where he became a bit part player and jack of all trades instead of becoming an England Great.

I enjoyed the match Saturday, it was nice to c villa park happy and nearly full, yes we didn’t get all the points, but it’s just started,2mnths ago we had no hope, let’s enjoy the buzz we got, players coming in, instead ov going, that’s what 34,000 think, tough game sat coming, but imagine what it might ov been, get off Bruce’s bk, ⚽️.

Back in the day, I played for the same team as Bryan Small at U16 level, he was a winger/ striker who scored nearly 100 goals a season, and he was playing an age group above his actual age. Don't know if that adds to the 'argument' just wanted to name drop lol 😂
