Would anyone take a chance on Joey Barton? seems he works hard and seems a steve bruce sort of player! I think we could do with another winger, ayew is not a winger maybe Villa should try chris brunt slow but he can cross.

Defence: probably just a right back as bacuna is excelling in the middle and hutton isn't good enough, trippier, joe gomez (Liverpool) or even Liston if he's available.

Midfield: obvious centre midfield needs sorting, i'd go for Huddleston, Hughes, Lansbury - Bruce has worked with Huddlestone, hughes and Lansbury are championship top quality.

Forwards: Hernandez, Jordan Rhodes, will grigg - Hernandez worked with Bruce, Rhodes proven and should be available and will grigg is scoring in a poor Wigan team and should be cheap!

Think everyone mentioned would be likely to come aswell given our financial power, wouldn't mind a move for a match winner such as knockeart, Brady, forrestieri - if were above all their clubs, going strong and in play offs pushing top 2 there's no reason why one of them wouldn't come!

Would you really go for another striker as we have ayew gestede gabby Kodjia libor? I think we need a right back a winger and a central midfielder like i said barton and brunt would give experience. I would also try for Nathan Dyer at swansea don't play but great player. All about opinions love hearing everybodys view tripper seems to be the 1 you all like.

Then see who leaves and replace in those positions but more leaning towards midfielders with a goal in 'em

1. Mr know it all we won't have kodja or gustede for a month so are you really not going to look to bring a proven championship striker at least on loan? Your braver than me.

2. Barton's had his problems but anyone saying they wouldn't have him in a heart beat obviously hasn't seen what he did for Burnley or heard the reports from the likes of Sean dyche, he was a huge part of getting them up, yes he's out spoken but that's because he expects effort and passion, something we have lacked for a while!

We need proven not youngsters who will be great "some day", veretout might be a good player one day, don't mean he can do a job for us in the position we're in. Barton and Bannan are both proven at this lesson and can do a very good job in a position we're struggling in, both brilliant shouts!

Yes I've seen Bannan and Barton play many times in this league. That is why my opinion is what it is.
We should and will aim a lot higher than these 2 players. We should be aiming for 2 TOP QUALITY midfielders and a TOP QUALITY RB .
Players that can see that our club, with its highly ambitious owner, can offer them playing time in the PL.
Barton is finished and Bannan is rubbish. They are both the past not the future.

Your saying top quality centre mids yet refuse to consider 2 midfielders from last seasons team of the season? No sorry you can't change what you said now, you said Barton was "Finished" and Bannan was "rubbish" and I'm sorry but you don't get voted by all the teams around you into a team of the year being finished or rubbish. They'd be brilliant to fill our midfield, them two and the likes of Will Hughes, Henri Lansbury are the best options, we've spent too long thinking of the future and look where we are, we need to think of the now and get the best players for the job on our hands now not in 5 years.

The game's he has played in he was outclassed and outmuscled by SPFL youngsters, he hasn't played or trained since September, in fact he's only trained for about 5/6 weeks since last season finished. The word on the street is that he's happy to stay and lift his wages for the next 18 months because a) he wants the FULL money he's due from Rangers and b) nobody in England will match the deal he's getting up here, no English team was willing to give him the kind of deal he wanted, even Burnley offered him vastly reduced terms.

They are not the players this club needs now or in the next season or 2 either. ( I don't know where you got 5 years time from) .
When Mr. SKFA asked who we would buy or loan in January my immediate thoughts were Hernandez, from Hull. Nabil Bentaleb and Trippier from Tottenham.
All 3 are top established players . Bentaleb is pure class ( check Youtube) .
And IMO infinitely superior to Barton and Bannan . Its because of buying dross like these that we are where we are and to get out of the EFL and stay out we need QUALITY.

Sorry can't have that Ed, he must have played 5 games up there and he was close to man of the match in 2, played decent in the other and 2 the whole team was overrun. He's suspended because he asked the question what on earth was that after they got pumped by their biggest rival, and if you really believe he's still the same old Barton and really believe he hasn't changed have a listen to what Sean dyche said on 5live a few weeks ago. Oh and all you have to do is look at his social media accounts to see his been training every day since he's been suspended. And Andy I'm sorry but you still haven't answered how Barry bannan is getting into the team of the season if his rubbish? And then saying you want a player that's on a season long loan away from Spurs, a player that won't be back at Spurs because he's slated them loads since he's been gone, yet Barton can't come because of his attitude, and finally he's never even played at this level?! Micah Richards looks like Jaap Stam on YouTube, you need to realise why we are where we are and stop being ignorant to the fact we need players for now that we know from evidence can do a job, not ones that look good on a video game.

{Ed001's Note - funny that you say that as all the Rangers fans were glad he got suspended as he was crap in every game for them. He was overshadowed by a kid, in Jordan Rossiter, until Rossiter got injured. I am sure you know him best, but the only thing the prick did of note was bully the youth team lads until someone stepped in to protect them, leading to the fight which ended up with him being suspended.

Barton has not changed, the difference was at Burnley is that he was too scared of Dyche to act up in training.}

Chris it seems like we should call time on this one.
I think neither Barton or Bannan are good enough to get into our first team squad. Ed has talked of Bartons attitude not me.
Regarding Bannan, all I can say is that the standard of teams in the Championship must have been pretty poor last season. He's rubbish and always has been. He couldn't get in a Crystal Palace team that was really poor . He is not the answer to our midfield problems.
SB will be pursuing players that can both help us get promoted AND form part of a PL squad.
Regarding Bentaleb I hold my hands up. Didn't know that he had joined Schalke on loan. Apologies for that. However I do think that he illustrates the sort of quality we should be looking at. I watched him regularly for Spurs and he a pure player and still only 21.
Anyway Chris the difference f our opinions has been good and we'll speak again very soon hopefully. We may even agree on the next topic!

Good call Andy, just opinions, mine is that at this level bannan would be good, I remember him in the prem for us and palace and he was out of his depth but so far for Wednesday he's thrived. I get your point re bentaleb he does look a good player, but I'd just prefer someone who has played at this level so they can hit the ground running just when we will need them. And ed I've read several versions of events, even off Mark Warburton and Joey himself, not heard anything like what you've said so do you have any evidence or do we have to believe it because it's in red? The general consensus is that warburon asked the players to talk about what had happened vs Celtic, as what would happen all over the country, joey was putting across his opinion and asking questions, albeit abruptly, Andy didn't think his tone or mannorisms were appropriate as there were young lads present, they had a disagreement which led to them being told to leave it at that. From that joey was suspended while it was investigated, as Andy is a long servant it was only right to suspend joey until they knew what was happening. And from there joeys relationship with Warburton has soured - now me personally I can't see anything wrong there, I've been bleated at i front of my team before, because I deserved it, and I learnt from it. It just tells me joey is a leader and expects a better standard.

If that was all that happened Barton could sue their ass off. I think the story is a lot closer to what's been reported and joey and warburton have said themselves, otherwise what happened? It all kicked off over some pictures so joey was suspended but before that they had a big meeting and made up a story for the press, had a few rehearsals? Sorry not buying it. If you look up who James Traynor and his PR company Level 5 you will see how tight a control they have on the Scottish press, if the press write a negative story about TRIFC they are threatened to be banned from the club and the TRIFC director Dougie Park threatens to withdraw his advertising. Have you ever heard of a PR man pulling a manager out of a press conference because the PR man doesn't like the questions? It happened the other week much to the embarrassment of Mark Warburton.

If you know the truth why don't the English papers? Why don't media outlets that couldn't care less about the TRIFC? Because it's all fabricated nonsense that's why. if it was true Joey for one wouldn't have took the pictures knowing who these people were, and for two they wouldn't have suspended him risking him taking legal action.
