I know everyone is getting excited about talk of a young attacking midfield player coming in from the continent. But surely I cannot be the only person to believe that someone like Scott Parker would really help this young team navigate a competive Premiership season
We are ignoring the elephant in the room here in that Lambert has added pure youth to an already youthful team
It would be great to think that it will all end perfectly for us but personally, I would take out an insurance policy

I couldn't agree with this more mate, he is exactly what we need along with an AM. He would be a perfect role model for Westwood, Delph & Sylla as he's a great DM aswell as a model professional. However, apart from Newcastle (where he was a bit of a let down) he has played all his football in London, apparently we made enquiries under O'Neill and that was the stumbling block.

Dont know if I agree with that one mendax the whole point is to get everyone on a level playing field wages wise. It keeps the hunger going and if you perform you get more (benteke weimann etc). and parker probably wouldn't come for less than 40 grand a week he's hardly a superstar for the players to look up to. Though he is solid we have a lot of pace in the side now with some hard hitting midfielders mixed in. Young players means fresh ideas and a lot have already proved that experience counts for nothing if you can play you can play. Personally i'm happy with the squad as it is maybe kiyotake in to give the forwards some bread and bitter.

I can see your point Naturalvillain
I just feel we could do with an older head when it gets a bit difficult away at Chelsea, Man United etc
Parker always comes across well off the pitch as well
I think he only has a year left on his contract at Spurs so I think we could get him for less than the 40k a week you quote by offering the right package (ie 2-3 years with the option of a coaching role)
Parker just seems like the kind of guy, in terms of ability and attitude that, I would want around young players

Naturalvillan & Mendax.

This brings it all home now.

Here we are talking about experienced players like Parker etc to stabilise our young team in their hour of need.

And yet we had one of the best, our beloved man "STAN" what a shame he will not play again.

He would of been great in this squad, the young with pace and energy, and Stan the brains and know how.

Yep, I'd go along with that Dave. Parker and Petrov are cut from similar cloth

I think parker and wijnuldum would complete our squad nicley once the likes of bent ireland given hutton delfonso bannan stevens are moved on.

I agree brains is always a good factor to have and perhaps we do still need a leader out there but i'm still pleased with how were doing things and I believe that we have a lot of goals in the team for this season with okore looking briefly solid at the back and the bearded tony moon we may have the goods to stop the goals at the wrong end. We have no real issue in midfield westy can pass like gerrard, sylla an delph could tackle a lion and with gardner looking like he's been playin for 20 years and stayin off the med table we could be quite tight. were only short a real playmaker no?

I agree with mendax Parker would be a great player he is underrated by many but he would give the young lads the advice they need as he has been around the block abit and would be able to tell them the grass isent greener at the bigger clubs from his chelsea days. I have seen a link for Omar Abdulrahman as well that would be a great bit of business by pl if he could pull that off but I believe Arsenal are trying to get him on a trial at the mo.
