How did Smith play Hogan at Brentford? Hogan isn't your typical, player up front on his own . He needs to play in a two, needs to feed off somebody . If he was played on his own, he would need to hold the ball up and I don't think he's that type of player . Still that's for Smith to sort out .

He was played in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with someone like Romaine Sawyers in support of him.
It was stated that he would be used as the main man and it was the theory that he was a chances to goals player, the example being, give him chances and he will score.
Josh McEachran and Ryan Woods were always looking to play him in through the middle, and it worked well for them.
Hogan is an 18yd box player and needs feeding with through ball`s, he can create his own chances but if he does not get the ball he can drift out of games so must be kept involved.
Similar players were, A Cole, and R Fowler.
If we keep him we must play to his strengths, and that means getting the ball in the box as soon and as often as possible and support him as a team.
I am not sure we can do that with the players we have.
