If the rumours about Sam Johnson are right
Wouldn't you just sign him and take a smack on the wrist if the F.A
I am sure it would be a couple of million fine
Which is a drop in the ocean if we get back to the premier league.

I’ve been thinking that about FFP, QPR spent whatever they want the year they went up and 2 years later got a tiny fine (I Think) so we might aswell break it by what 4mil to solve fill a position that’s been a problem for years, and with his age, if we tie him down to a lengthy deal we would be sorted for years! And if someone wanted to sign him he’s young English and be worth a shed load.

£4 appears to be the price banded around by the media. Of corse, nobody knows his value, which I guess would be whatever a club is prepared to pay for him. Personally, I would estimate for a player of his potential, and the way he has played this season and most of last, that even £15 million would not be far off. If united have offered him a new contract, I can’t imagine they needed to tempt him by including a £4m release clause. My hope is that he stays at villa this season then signs permanently. My guess, is that he will do exactly that.

They’ve only got a 1 year extension on his deal, that’s why it’s 4mil, because next season in January he’ll be free to sign terms with anyone and in the summer of 2019 he can leave for free. We seem to be good at targeting deals like this, we paid penny’s (in today’s market) for Hourihane, Lansbury and Bjarnsson, got JT on a free. If we pull this one of either this window or in the summer, for anything less than 7mil then we’ve done excellent again.

According to Tony Xia, Sam Johnstone wants to play for Aston Villa, which is great. Tony Xia said that Johnstone is going nowhere, and that he will be a permanent player for us when we qualify for Premier League this season. The West Bromwich Albion rumour is not true.

easy answer is go to sam see what he wants to do and if he really only wants to play for villa then he tells utd. they can't make him sign for another team and even if they accept a bid off west brom or whoever he can just say no to contract,

personally i think its all rubbish and just talk to force our hand into a bid.
