Sherwood is apparently looking to sell Guzan and replace him with FSV Mainz 05 goalkeeper Loris Karius, according to a media website.

I think that he looks like a really decent keeper and better than Guzan.
And from what I've seen, he has made many important saves last season.

We do need a world class keeper

And a manager.
Lerner will not sack him as that would be another failure on his part to bring in a real manager.
Sherwoods reputation was with players superior at Spurs in every way to those he inherited and bought.
We cannot afford to wait and see, it may well be too late already.
Through poor club management and total lack of ambition right at the top we have slipped so far backward that it will take years to change.
Investment on a massive scale is required.
We have a great stadium, great supporters, some useful players but poor senior people.
The way forward is going to be very trying for all of us!!!

I wrote a similar post a few weeks ago showing my disgust at some Villa "fans" and their expectations and demands.
It is so refreshing to read posts from some sensible, realistic, football supporters.
I my heart Aston Villa is the greatest team in the world and has been and will be the team for me - but- I know where we are in the pecking order of premier league football teams. I believe that by the end of this season we will be an ok mid table team that will only get better.
However, some fans believe we have a God given right to win 30 games a season by just turning up because we're Aston villa, and if that's not happening then sack everyone and moan and moan and moan.

Let's just put something into perspective. We are in the TOP flight of the BEST league in the world. We have just bought some real quality youngsters that given time will flourish and in my opinion will then have one of the best young managers around. One that when other teams come knocking for him the"moaners" who want his head now will be calling him a judas because he goest a club where fans want him and appreciate him.

I've not known fans like it. We have the biggest team in the midlands and we will have the best team too. But do we have the greatest fans in the Midlands anymore. We boo our players at 0-0 but small Heath cheer and applaud their team off after they lose. The baggies sing and show real passion and togetherness. Even Walsall fans, all 3500 of them sing their hearts out for their team. Yet us Villa fans can't sing for 90 mins without moaning, without throwing their toys out because it's not 1981/82 anymore. Some villa fans need to get their heads from up their backsides or just stay at home.

We win together and we lose together. It's called loyalty, and we moan about Delph because there's no loyalty yet boo our own players?? How does that work? Look at rangers fans, started again in the lowest level of football but all come back up together.

I love my club, win, lose or draw and when I'm at villa park and I sing villa till I die it's because I mean it.

I'm with you comrade
Generally speaking, I have no issue with people whingeing on here (I've done enough of it myself)
That said, we seem to have turned it into a sport of it's own
However, booing at half-time, whatever the state of the game, is just poor
If this goes on we'll have to start calling ourselves customers rather than fans
We are slowing becoming Man U fans/customers without the trophies (Newcastle fans in other words)

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Sep 2015 11:48:23
Mike, I confess I booed at Half time and having read your message confess to feeling regret, however the tactics and skill showed in the first 45 were very poor, TS said it was planned but I think even he was shocked at the performance.
The professionals get paid so much these days, us low earners have no other way to show frustrations and disappointment. If we vote with our feet we miss out on the game and team we love.
Out of interest I have held a season ticket for 30 years and travel 50 miles to home games alone, does that give me a right to show my frustration? I think so but You have got me thinking so good on you mate!

Excellent posts from the hearts of you guys, nature of game these days puts mega amount of pressures on managers, players, board due to cost of going to see the beloved villa,we also have to understand not everybody will be happy even if results were different, let's see this correctly dominated Sunderland easily should of won but unlucky -2 points, crystal palace rash errors by Guzan,Amavi -2 points, absolutely imploded at Leicester -3 points so my calculations we would be on 11points flying high. This team needs time RB is major problem and keeper plus we have missed gueye big time last 2/3 games, second half against that team tue in cup was was exciting to see grealish, ayew especially ayew best 45 mins since joined and a glimmer of the player we hoped,I still think TS is struggling knowing best 11 so many players in/out in/out TS has also made so mistakes but come on he's young still got a lot to learn TBH. I got a feeling of 3 points today at Anfield UTV

i admit i'm not happy with the way its looking and i said i think the fact not including league we won one game in 10 i think it is was starting to look bad on sherwood and if we had lost the derby i think it would have looked even worse,

quite a lot the games its not just the losing that been the problem its been the all round play has been shocking at times too.

but one thing i will never agree with is booing your team off at half time, as you say how the hell is that going to help the team in the slightest? if anything that might make it worse

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2015 17:54:03
im not slagging the lads off or going to start a debate cause we won and that's the main point but the two negatives i guess you can see from last night is 1, from 17 shots we only hit the target 3 times and 2, didn't like the way we played (broken record time) till gabby came off then WOW we was a complete diffenrt team for me

Come on you Villa, happy with 1 but should have been more. TS, I can't understand that first half at all, Clarke was a fish out of water, & I don't know if Lescott was injured, but he was rubbish .What a differance second half, Jack & Ayew where a different class.

What a change in Ruddy when he scored, he suddenly started winning the ball holding it up & looking like the player we bought. Amavi proved that if you put the right balls in Ruddy will score. Clarke was much better at CH, in the second half. TS have a good think before Sat.

What are you guys on about, Sherwood is our manager nobody else, you are nothing more than a couple of doom and gloom merchants, think back to the seasons start I bet you were both wetting yourselves with excitement, 6 games in and listen to it. “Wake up”
People are getting worse on here, Believe me I have seen some very poor teams assembled here at Villa park, I first set foot on the holte end in 1956 and I have always been proud to be a Villa Fan.
The Manager and club are trying to improve what was a total shambles on and off the pitch, it will not happen because you guys are throwing your toys out of the pram will it.

I don’t give a rats behind about what spuds fans think.
You have obviously got a dislike for Sherwood then by the sound of things, if Villa won the next 10 games as you put it I would seriously reconsider my sexuality, Timmy would become very attractive to me.

I haven't been over to villa park for a while now, with the cost of it is massive flights hotel a day of work been from Ireland so I decided go this weekend I taught we would have been up for the game but no not 1 good rattle of a tackle to let the baggies now there in a derby
We never looked like scoring we all knew we needed a proven striker I just feel we have wasted money elsewhere our team seltion is all wrong grealish and Gill are to alike Westwood is average at best which leaves us extremely weak in midfield i'd love to see kozak with sinclare playing off him,
The weekend has cost me around €1000 to go and watch the crap I still think we are no better than what we were last season in fact we had more points on the board after the same amount of games I just can't see who we would beat and with Liverpool next weekend we will be in the bottom 3
With 50 million spent 6-7 games 4 points on the board it's no where near good enough why was he holding out for the donkey from spuds goals win games and we don't have them in our locker we should after spending that amount it's going to be a big week for timmy
I would love big Sam or rednapp

Hi Mick, I feel for you mate, 1000 Euro`s is a lot of cash.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying but I must hold faith, I get the feeling that for whatever reason certain players are going to be selected no matter what, and that is a big concern to me.
Westwood should not be in the side let alone the same side as Sanches, Gabby should be rested completely end of, Richards is not a centre back and should be switched to RB with a recall for clarke.
Agree about Kozack and Sinclair up front, got to give them a chance.
I could go on but as I say I am going to hold faith until Christmas, give Tim and his ideas a chance, time will tell.
I must add this though, If I was manager of Villa No way on this earth would we have lost at Leicester last week from a two goal lead, there were some bad substitutions at the wrong times made that day, very bad decisions.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Sep 2015 19:20:24
Hi both,

I too agree with much of what you have said.
Gabby is spent, Westwood always struggles in a midfield 2, and substitutions have been abject in last 2 games.
Where is Kozak. 4 goals in 5 pre-season friendlies, the guy works his socks off, can hold the ball up and puts defenders under pressure, Oh! and he is also a proven international centre forward.

I have also been looking at headline quotes from 12 months ago.
'I'm the right man for the job', 'I'll get it right', 'We're working hard to turn it around', 'I'm not going to buckle under the pressure!' Seems sop strange that I seem to be seeing the same headlines now!!!

I keep reading that we are in transition, this is a new team and we should be patient because it will take time for this team to gel. 8 players who started against Leicester and 8 players who started today were signed by Lambert, how many years do people think it will take before this team does eventually gel ?

Lost it in midfield again, needed Veretout in from the start .No good having all that pace up front, if your midfield are struggling to win the ball .Once again we where over run, Veretout could have been in there to help win it & then use it, his last team he scored or supplied 46% of their goals .this is another reason our defence looks so bad, nothing in midfield to protect them .It proved once again today that we desperately need a RB, Hutton is a trier but need better than that .

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Sep 2015 20:35:16
been saying about hutton for last season or so. yes he kicked off last year great but from then he didn't really pick up. bacuna has been average but its clear that RB slot needs sorting,

i keep saying it but sanchez and westwood are not helping in that midfield, too many times since start last season they will have a good game then 3 bad games, we need consistency.

19 Sep 2015 20:54:14

so all the rumours & speculation is over with the transfer window being shut. I honestly reckon this has been our best window since when we bought in ashley young and others in that one massive spend that lerner did when he first took over. think with 2 new CB's coming in, I wanna see micah transition back into that RB position which would complete and make our starting back line very strong(amavi,ilori/clark/okore,lescott,richards)
although I am disappointed that a ST wasnt bought in because that is the only position that I'm worried about, I actually reckon that ayew will score more then gestede this year and think ayew will become good and hit 10+ goals this year in the BPL.
thoughts on the window in general???

02 Sep 2015 01:35:32
Think we've made great strides in shoring up the backline, which is key. Like most, I am disappointed that we didn't add a striker. It's a shame Berbatov was unreasonable, as I think he could have done a job with his experience for a year. To be honest, any proven striker would have been a good addition. I'm also slightly disappointed we were in conversations with Anderlecht and didn't do a deal for Praet while at it. I do wonder what this means for Siegrist. With Siegrist & now Sarkic, as well as 3 keepers in the first team (Guzan, Steer and Bunn) will we be moving any of them on? I'm also curious as to the terms of the new contracts for Clark, Baker and Bennett. I'm assuming Sherwood is trying make sure we don't lose them for nothing and can hopefully generate some revenue. I can't see Baker having a future if he's going out on loan at 24. With Amavi on the books Bennett's future doesn't look to bright either. I do worry that we're going to struggle for goals but am far more optimistic about the coming season and do believe that Sherwood won't let us find ourselves in another relegation battle.

Well business done just hope when we report back January were not crapping our selves again, best signings IMO Adama,Amavi,Gueye,Richards and perm signing Sinclair. Ayew,Gestede, vertout taking time ATM. Lescot I think can be great for us and the loanee from Liverpool I've seen scousers going mental of our capture so looking forward to seeing them in action, many of us probs disappointed no striker brought in but it is what it is now so onwards upwards. just a thought with TS bringing in fair few CB's could the a possible formation change 3CB's Amavi,Bacuna wingbacks as both can play those positions. anyway best of luck villa see you all January no doubt lol :))

Oulare has signed on a 5 year deal for 6 million, so much for a loan. I would probably have liked us to take a 6 million pound punt on him, but oh well. I wonder what his buyout is. may be if he turns out to be what everyone thinks he can be we can pick him up on the cheap when Watford go down ;-)

And we've just signed Lescott, confirmed. and we've pulled out of a deal for Berbatov due to high wage demands. Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 12:28:47
Seeing Obbi Oulare is set to sign on loan for Watford. I know he's young and only played in the Belgian league, but with all the top teams that have been linked with him in the past, and given it's a loan, I cannot believe we're not taking a chance on him. Shouldn't really impact our ability to bring in others/proven players, but could also turn into our next Benteke (both as a goalscorer and a gold mine).

Believable0 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 12:43:28

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 13:55:19
Flackie, I think that's short sighted. It happens across football. Grealish, Gabby (long ago), Gardner. they've all gone out on loan. Could say the same thing there. If he's available for loan, with an option to buy, as reported, that's not just developing someone else's player, because if we were to develop him and decide he's worth it, we sign him and we've developed our own player. If he's not, we've rented a player and given we've sent Robinson out on loan (oops, we did it again) having another striker as back up wouldn't hurt. The potential upside, according to one of the editors not so long ago he was linked with a number of big Champions League teams, is huge.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 14:23:21
I think it's more short sighted to think that that is the way we should be looking at doing outle business.
Yes we can loan players out, but we believe we should be eating at the top table, yet want to borrow their players, to give them game time. Then we expect big names to want to sign for us??
Big clubs don't borrow players. It's poor business, and had no future.
Cleverly was prime example, no desire to want to play for us, just forcing a move

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:03:25
Flackie many top teams for years have loaned players for season, just look at MUFC last season Falcao although he was shocking waste of 20 mil for it,good thing about loaning is you could just send back and end contract, Not sure the reporting in talks with Liverpool defender on season long loan what position I hope RB,then just 1 position to go prolific striker then we're done this window

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Ilori is a ball playing centre half with pace.}

01 Sep 2015 15:32:01
Difference of opinion then. I'd rather us take a low cost risk on loaning the player with the option to buy than do what Man Utd are doing. They're spending a fortune on Martial, who is the same age as Oulare, and he could work out to be the next David Bellion, young, cost them a fortune (more now in these days of inflated fees) and amount to absolutely nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 12:21:46
Joleon Lescott has completed his medical at Villa ahead of signing from West Brom. Villa are still being linked with a late move to bring Emanuel Adebayor to the club on a season-long loan.

They are calling the Berbatov move a 'longer shot', though that does raise the question of what he is doing in the Midlands unless it's shopping in the Bullring or visiting Stan for some Bulgarian bonding .

We have made a bid for Dwight gale it has been turned down, still don't think it's what we need we should be looking at proven goal scorer

I don't know weather he's the striker we need. what's more worrying, probaly take another 4 to 5 weeks for him to get match fit meaning he's been a free agent all summer.

Berbatov has more skill in one foot than Gestede/Ayew,put together a bit like Ginola . not at is best but can still change a game

Right here we go. It's my understanding we could be busy today. I've been told we will sign lescot today and either adebayor or pappis cisse as the striker option. I'm also hearing that Sanchez will be sold for around 10 million and we will bring in either praet or mohammad abu.

I think adbeyaor will still happen, we defiantly need a striker and he's already had a medical the deal won't take long to finalise
