Lambert is apparently keen on Sekou Oliseh, one for next season according to VT

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Awful player. Give me Raheem Stirling any day

Agree6 Disagree20

Sterling? No mate - I give you a young Villa winger called Jack Grealish! quality!

Agree24 Disagree9

Not a PL buy so will be loaned out all season, but should be on the bench,

Agree2 Disagree9

Looks like Oliseh got his birth certificate from the same place Obafemi Martins did!

Read in the daily express we are after popov a cam from kuban in Russia. We were rumoured to be in for him in the summer with nothing coming from it. However we could be back in for him in January. He is the cam we need to rip apart the lower half of the prem teams.

VillanMatt92

Believable6 Unbelievable7

I like this link above and below! Popov & Boulahrouz will definatley take us up the level but in lambert I trust!

Agree11 Disagree5

Boularouz was terrible in the prem when he was in his prime I would rather have a class act like gallas or just give donecien a chance

Agree9 Disagree1

Wrong guy mate your on about the cb and he's on about the cam

Agree1 Disagree3

Isn't the cam called boudabouz or something? Or am I wrong too?

Agree4 Disagree1

Yes his name is Ryad Boudebouz and he joined SC Bastia for £1m on the final day of the transfer window.

Agree4 Disagree2

I thought he had gone somewhere, this still doesn't clear up who the original poster was talking about lol

Agree2 Disagree3

I was talking about popov who plays for kuban in Russia. I did not mention the other players.

VillanMatt92

Agree1 Disagree1

I was referring to the original poster regarding boulahroudebouz, not the originaly poster of the thread. My mistake!

Agree3 Disagree2

Eastern Europeans do not transfer wih much uccess ask stylian we won nowt even though he was class

Hearing we might try to get Khalid Boulahrouz as he's a free agent, very frustrating about Okore

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Would be a solid signing indeed, even though I would love to see more of Nathan Baker with Ron Vlaar.

Agree7 Disagree1

Has Vlarr ever partnered at CB with Boulahrouz for The Netherlands?

Agree4 Disagree3

Gallas would be a quality signing.

Agree4 Disagree9

Get them both as Vlaar is awful

Agree7 Disagree7

Cant help thinking we made a mistake not taking barry back he is the kind of dm we need aswell an obvious am we need for home games

Agree10 Disagree2

We should get both Gallas and Boulahrouz, since they are experienced defenders and can even score goals.

Agree6 Disagree3

Been saying that we should have gone for Barry for weeks. Evertons star man again last week.

BigMac {Ed001's Note - what do you mean again? He has only had one game for Everton!}

Agree6 Disagree1

Accepted, but my ref. was that he always will perform at a high level, again and again, not just for Everton.

Agree4 Disagree1

Yes to Boulahrouz, No to Gallas (for me)

Agree7 Disagree2

Why gallas is way better than boularouz?

Agree5 Disagree3

Would take either but I think lambo has to change the team a bit for sat big shame bout okore I think for sat the line up should be
guzan
lowton vlaar baker luna
sylla westwood delph
tonev gabby
benteke
what do you guys think?

Parker2789 will sign off as well lol

Agree6 Disagree5

Boulahrouz is 31, Gallas is 36, not a fan of his attitude either.

Agree5 Disagree1

Truth is they are not the type of players I'd want us to sign BUT in our current situation I think 1 of them or both would seriously give us a real boost, I don't wanna go to January depending on 3 CBs to stay fit, especially when them 3 CBs have a history of picking up knocks.

We are desperate, we don't have a lot of choices out there.
Gallas and/or Boularouz would be great for us on a 1 year contract.

>Scg87

Agree4 Disagree2

Yeah because barry played at a very high level last 2 seasons didn't he? not, he was terrible.

Agree2 Disagree7

Parker, I like the idea of dropping weimann for tonev but I think the other weak link is definitely luna, replace him with bennett I say. also, lowton has played awfully lately so give bacuna maybe even herd a shot at rb maybe even siegrist in goal and gary gardner in for westwood/sylla. KEA should be nowhere near the 1st team

Agree2 Disagree11

Weimann could easily be dropped in my opinion based on his performances this season. Would love to see Kozak up front with Benteke against the Canaries with Gabby just behind to pick up the ball from the front two!

Agree11 Disagree3

Drop Luna and put Bennett in?
Luna is no worldbeater but he is still a trade up on Bennett
I do agree about your statement on KEA
Lowton is still our best option at rightback

Agree8 Disagree1

To the comment above implying we should drop Weimann, Luna, Lowton, Guzan and Westwood. this is a joke right? and your comment is made with intended sarcasm?

No perfomance this season has warranted strippin out so such a larger number of players and esp not to be replaced by players who are nowhere as good as the players you have suggested should be removed.

Again an armchair supporter jumpin on a bandwagon as Villa have lost a few games

Agree7 Disagree5

Luna can not defend Snodgrass not the greatest will have a great day, and yes if Westwood and KEA are not playing well DROP then if your saying our squad can not cover then, lost for words

Agree2 Disagree3

Changing one or two is fine but to make so many changes as implied is ridiculous.

Agree4 Disagree1

If KEA is plays at Norwich PL has lost it, in the express and star KEA says he wants to score, to score you have to kick the ball forward he can't do that PL should admit a bad buy and move him on

Agree3 Disagree1

KEA didn't do much wrong yday did he?

Agree3 Disagree0

Hi can't say only seen the highlights but be honest he. s not good enough,

Agree0 Disagree1

KEA done very well yday as did bacuna out of pos but done very good but have to say tonev looked awful never took his man on never passed the ball took too many shots that went way wide and was so greedy when we had a man over to go 1 on 1 and went for glory and failed plus giving the ball away so many times I mean his stat of 5 shots in final third to 3 passes in final third just summed it up

Agree3 Disagree1

Tonev was trying far to hard to impress, hopefully he gets a telling off and does get another chance soon enough because I think he can be a good player. I'm all for players shooting from a way out because as the saying goes 'if you don't buy a ticket you don't win the raffle'. But I think he could have had a much better game had he not shot a few times and chose to play somebody in or take a man on, we'd have all been much more impressed had he done that.

I'd also like to point out that weimann was poor again, other than the nice pass into kozak for his chance before the goal, but that was completely down to bad defending and good running by kozak.

Clark was solid again (unfair decision for the pen but some what immature you could say), KEA didn't really put a foot wrong and delph won every ariel battle he was involved in. Also bacuna will be a fantastic squad player as he can do a good job in pretty much any role.

One more thing, both of our last 2 goals have came within minutes of kozak coming on to the pitch. I'd hate to give him the title of super sub, but he's certainly a good omen and in my opinion he will be a very good player for us whatever role he plays, and in all honesty the benteke injury can be a blessing in disguise, I feel we have tried far to hard to only play through benteke lately and yesterday proved we are more than a one more team and don't always have to rely on benteke.

Agree4 Disagree1

Every player seemed to be better once Benteke came off. Kozak, I firmly believe can be our next top striker we have found & shown to the rest of the EPL. Weimann needs the Lowton treatment and take him out of the squad for a game to make him buck up his ideas! Delph played magnificently yet again! would like to see Gardner play where Tonev did against the Canaries.

Agree7 Disagree2

I would rather start helenius and bring kozak on but that's a huge risk :/

Agree7 Disagree1

I'm glad Lambo finally played Andi through the middle and he looked a million miles better for it!

Agree5 Disagree3

Well it's hard to drop benteke for Weimann so lambert doesn't have much choice

Agree6 Disagree1

Foreigners in?rubbish our problems are in the dugout notwith some unknelder at derby who would go to ANY other prem club but villa

Agree1 Disagree0

Why did lamberk buy helenius if he won't play him? he's got to be better than loonie luna

A number of championship clubs are looking to take winger marc albrighton on loan. Derby, Sheff wednesday and forest to name a few

Finch

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Albrighton, I still rate very highly - but he just needs game time!

Agree9 Disagree3

Derby fan here. It's pretty much been confirmed by Clough through the local paper that we're after Albrighton.

I seriously hope we get him too as I reckon he could tear up the Championship. Not only that, it would be great for the lad's confidence as he'll be a guaranteed starter.

Agree5 Disagree0

Albrighton is such a talented lad with a deadly cross, really hope he comes back from any loan move with a lot more confidence and fitness. Hopefully then Albrighton & Grealish can in the future get Villa shirt game time!

Agree4 Disagree1

His final ball is his weak point surely?
Also, for me he lacks a yard of pace for a winger

Agree4 Disagree8

I have to agree with Mendax entirely.

His final ball too often is just not good enough, more often then not too long. He lacks pace to beat his man and doesn't have the skill to use instead.

Similarly to Bannan he has had ample chance over the last 4 years to claim a starting place (appreciate he has been injured a lot lately) but has never done it for me.

Restarting his career in the Championship would be good for the lad. I would expect any loan move to made permanent unless he really surprises me and scores 15+ goals but I just can't see it

Agree4 Disagree7

That's extremely unfair on the lad, Hughes - I for one think you are entirely wrong. Albrighton has been plagued by injuries & plagued by McLeish football - how can you beat a man on pace when you hoof the ball long! Stupid comment!

Agree6 Disagree1

Albrighton's lack of pace was apparent before Mcleish arrived mate
I think he will ultimately find his level in the Championship. It would be nice to think otherwise but I just don't see it. Hope I'm wrong as he seems a decent kid and does seem to love the club

Agree3 Disagree4

Well Mendax, he seemed to have decent enough pace under Houllier!

Agree5 Disagree0

I don't actually see where your last statement takes the argument to be honest Putting an exclamation mark after it doesn't give the statement added weight either.
(For the record, I felt he lacked a yard of pace under all the managers he has played for)
However, we could argue about Albrighton's lack or abundance of pace if you like, but it seems a moot point
What is pretty apparent is that our current manager doesn't seem to rate the kid
If he is as quick as you think he is and he has the final ball that you think he does, you would have to question what the hell is going on in Lambert's head, surely?

Agree2 Disagree3

I do agree he's not that pacey and cannot cross, but the lad has some serious skills, he had a great season when we had players like young and downing for him to compete with. Anybody remember the games against Manchester United and in particular chelsea? He absolute ripped ashley cole to pieces that day!

Albrighton frustrates me because he can be a good player but I get the feeling he just can't be bothered! He's been hanging round with bannan to long I think!

Agree5 Disagree1

I agree ethAVFC, he does have good skills. I'm not convinced he has it physically though
He reminds me a little of Stefan Moore who seemed to be a great prospect but lacked staying power in games
I know that fans really want homegrown players to do well. I get it, I really do. But sometimes we have to face up to the reality of the situation
Lambert seems to have

Agree3 Disagree1

Gary Gardner should make the bench and when fully fit the starting eleven or dose PL not rate him, villajk

Agree8 Disagree1

Darren Bent is a good player, but Lambert didn't choose him - it doesn't make Albrighton a bad player at all. Just means maybe he isn't either putting in the necessary work or doesn't have the drive.

Agree6 Disagree1

"putting in the necessary work" or " having the drive" are pretty fundamental facets of being a good player, surely?
Picasso was one of the great painters. but only when he could be arsed

Agree2 Disagree2

I am actually suprised by the number of people in support of Albrighton as the majority of fans I speak with are of a similar opinion to me.

Are you suggesting that you think he deserves a run in the team? Home and away? In place of who? 442?

Would be interested to know how you think Albrighton can help move the team forward.

Agree1 Disagree2

He'd give us an extra option, Hughes. You saw against Newcastle - we looked so central and that was so frustrating. With Kozak & Benteke - you need good wingers!

Agree2 Disagree2

I agree that we need to be more creative at home and reverting to 442 wingers would be the easy option to supply Benteke and Kozak/weimann.

However, I personally think sacrificing a CM is not the best option as most visiting teams to VP will play three in midfield and will invariably be too much for just westwood and delph to compete against. Having a No 10 could leave to much space between him and the deeper lying midifled again leading to us being overrun.

I strongly believe three in the middle is the way to go but whoever plays there needs to be more adventurous and more expansive at home. The Newcastle game being casing point. So many times Westwood, Delph and El Ahmadi were on the half way line playing it back and forth to each other and getting us nowhere. On two occasions Delph turned with the ball and ran at the Newcastle defence beating one or two players. We need more of that. Delph needs license to go an join in the attack and be another option. He is fit enough to be a box to box midfielder and has the quality to be creative when necessary.

I think its important to remain consistent with the players we select as early on last season we chopped and changed and that got us nowhere. There is no reason why the team that started against Newcastle (apart from Okore now obviously) can not play the type of football we need to play at home going forward.

Agree1 Disagree3

I believe Baker is a decent player and can offer just as much as Okore. Delph has good pace but he has no close ball control.

Agree10 Disagree1

No close ball control? So you haven't see us play this season?

Agree4 Disagree1

Yes, I have mate and he hits it infront of it and runs onto it most of the time. So - I am guessing you've either watched none of the games or you've just watched MOTD!

Agree3 Disagree1

In relation to the above and the comments about Delph's ball control.

His drag backs and step overs and side stepping challenges are all actioned by knockling the ball in front of him and running after it?

Get real pal, he has real quality with the ball at his feet

Agree3 Disagree2

I'm with hughes here, he likes a good lane change when somebody goes lunging in and you can't do that without the ball. I think he is mistaking delph for gabby, since gabby's game is about knocking the ball on and using his pace to run after it, which might I add would never work in a central midfield roll anyway, since there is never any space to kick the ball into and chase after it. Most of delph's tricky runs are through 2/3 people most of the time, and usually towards the goal so it would be impossible to beat a whole midfield with a knock forward unless they're all standing next to each other in a perfect line and their legs wide open.

I think what you are trying to say is he doesn't keep the ball underneath him like the messi's and neymar's, but that's only because he is trying to attack at pace instead of pulling off a fancy skill move from a standing position.

Agree2 Disagree1

Just want to make a point - Albrighton didn't look off a yard of pace last night - *zoom* ;)

Agree4 Disagree1

He looked decent in amongst a poor performance. let's not get carried away.

I will be amazed if he starts against City

Man United now seemingly chasing Benteke along with Arsenal, £20m + Hernandez? any takers!

Believable9 Unbelievable16

30 mil + hernandez

Agree9 Disagree5

If only Kozac is firing otherwise it would be a backward step and only a 50 mil cash deal

Agree6 Disagree1

If Moyes paid 27.5m for Fellaini, then we should charge 50m for Benteke. I would go with 40m + Hernandez IF Kozac comes with the goods.

Agree5 Disagree4

Though I would rate benteke at the 40m mark I don't think united would pay that unless there is a bidding war with arsenal I reckon it will end up with benteke to arsenal in jan for 30m plus

Agree4 Disagree6

Utd fan in peace - please get realistic. Benteke has great potential and looks a good player but it arguable that a swap for him and Hernandez; never mind £20-£30 million plus Hernandez. Ask yourself who you think is the better player. Hernandez has been linked with top top clubs. Nobody made a serious move for Benteke. Why?! I personally rate him highly but you need to be realistic and stop playing FM with your fans valuations! Slate me as you will. I respect your club and am happy you're playing well and good football whilst trusting youth, however please be realistic in valuations etc!

Agree8 Disagree11

To the united fan I wrekon your more or less spot on benteke and hernandez are both fantastic players I would say though just because of tekers size and presence he is worth maybe 10m more

Agree2 Disagree6

I will only agree to the sale of Tekkers if Lambert replace him with Firmino and Muriel

No Firmino and Muriel then no Beneteke sale. Understand?

Agree5 Disagree3

He's also worth 40+ after signing a new contract not to mention 4 goals already this season

Agree6 Disagree1

First off, why is it When I hear other clubs fans talk down Benteke's ability I get the feeling they've only ever seen 60seconds of highlights of him.

Secondly, Benteke is 5 times the player Hernandez is, Benteke has everythin, pace, power, technique, great in the air, great movement, dominates defences like no other, he basically wins games on his own.
Hernandez is a poacher, great movement an has a great habbit of scoring goals but his all round game isn't anywhere near benteke's all round game.

If Benteke scores 25 goals this season an lights up the WC in the summer then £40m-£50m isn't out the question which is why Benteke will be staying until after the WC

>Scg87

Agree12 Disagree1

If Fergusson paid 12.6m for Yorke and obviously got a stunning bargain; should have paid 20m+; paid 20m for Young, then BigBen is 50m of your profits. Too often MU have tempted players by offering to buy them at low prices ( Fellani, Baines the latest) and then the player naturally wants to go to MU and they become dissatisfied. Clubs wilt under pressure and end up agreeing to sell at the price offered. However Everton played hard ball and said NO. So what happened MU got Fellani for 27m? after the player gave up his 4m loyalty payment but they didn't get Baines. Now the same for Benteke. Are clubs tapping him up via the news papers? It is a question that should be asked. Many clubs seem to let a reporter know the player that they want before they actually make contact with the players club.

In Benteke's situation he will now know what is going on and I would encourage Lambert to stick to his guns, tell any club sniffing around, that Benteke has 4 years left on his contract and to go away. Money talks and anything below £40m should be regarded as a whisper. Benteke will be the future of whoever can persuade Lambert and Lerner to sell him so the price must reflect the expectations of the buying club.

Yes I make a strong statement about transfers, but if a player is seen as someone that can help a club advance, then the fee must reflect the returns that the buying club will get through the turnstiles, and merchandise over the course of the players career.

Real are the masters eg. Ronaldo & Bale and others. Massive merchandising sales that almost pay for the player but they do actually pay for the player.

So MU supporter in peace, I wish you all the very best, you have a great club but don't treat us all like little boys. If you want Benteke put your money on the table and make it worth while.

Respect to you, but have respect to us.

Agree10 Disagree2

I honestly love the banter and how we all protect our clubs.

No way is Benteke worth 40 million though! Ozil just went for that and he's world class and a dream signing! For me he's 20 million plus 5 in add ons! As for the Benteke v Hernandez debate. It's not about all round play as they're different forwards. I honestly like both, however you can't be disrespectful enough to value Hernandez at 10 million or so! I'd say 20 million plus add ons is a fair price for both?

Adz-mcr

Agree1 Disagree13

Regardless of all the banter we know what benteke is worth to us! And Man u know what henandez is worth to them! tekkers villa 1st choice striker, henandez Man United 4th choice, that is where the value of the player comes from.

Agree6 Disagree0

How can anyone not rate Benteke at at least 40+ mil. The kid is a world beater in the making. 19 prem goals in first season and looks set to replicate again this year. If he went to any top team, he could win them the league, with better players around him.

With everything factored in (Age, Potential, Current Goal Record, Contract Length, Height, Build etc), Villa should easily be able to fetch 40+ mil.

If suarez is valued so high then so should Benteke

Agree5 Disagree1

I really do wish that all the persons on here ranting on about Benteke and when he is leaving, who to and for how much would give it a rest because you all know absolutely NOTHING.
The only person who does know is Paul Lambert and if he doesn't want Benteke to go, be it in January, the end of this season or any other time it will be his decision alone. If Lerner tried to go over Lamberts head and sell him for some silly offer then I think Lambert would walk and that is the last thing that Lerner would want to happen so for Gods sake give it a rest, all of you.
Villa fan Great Barr.

Agree5 Disagree0

Villa fan from Great Barr. It inevitable that Benteke will be leaving in the near future so get used to it.

Villa fan from Wednesbury

Agree2 Disagree5

To adz-mcr.

Your respected opinion is acknowledged but Big Ben is worth £40m+ to Aston Villa.

You may not rate the value but if you remember Charlie Adam at Blackpool, Holloway put a high value on him because he knew that was his value to Blackpool FC in terms of prem. money. OK he went to LFC, can't remember the price, after B/pool were relegated.

In the same way Ben is a valuable asset and in one way worth far more than Hernandez as MU have other strikers and losing Hernandez would not hinder their prospects in the way that Ben being transferred would affect Villas season.

That is why Ben is worth £40m+ to AVFC.
I made the post about paying the real value of players and the way top clubs try to prise the best players away from clubs for far less than the real value.

Respect bro.
Big Mac

Agree3 Disagree1

Villa fan from Wednesbury.
Cobblers. On what evidence are you basing that stupid remark?
He has just signed a new 4 year deal so he is going absolutely nowhere in 'the near future' as you put it.
You are not a Villa fan. You support either the Blues or possibly the Albion.
If indeed you are a Villa fan then you are an person and we can do without you.
Villa fan Great Barr.

Agree1 Disagree4

Benteke will go no where this season, mainly down to the world cup and I think part the deal that was struck is that if he can re do what he did last season this season, and still wants to move on then we will not stand in the way after the world cup, as long as the price is right. i'm a villa fan but its hard to see a top player like him, who already shown he personally sees villa as a stepping stone (due to him handing request in summer against the agent/belgium managers advise) stay at the club this long, which is fine! we reap the benefits of low cost to buy, great service and the a big sell on to reinvest! he's of champions league quality and we won't be getting that for a while, so yes big ben will leave, but lambert has signed many attacking options which could prove that the sale will not be all that bad!
the price he is worth as a fan? £40mil, realistic? £30miland that still is great business considering that is roughly the same amount lambert has spent creating this exciting team in total!

Agree3 Disagree1

Good old kozak on the scoresheet for the czechs in their 2-1 defeat to italy

Agree5 Disagree0

Villa fan from Great Barr. As a matter of fact I am a villa fan and season ticket holder.

Benteke WILL (not that I want him too) will leave in the near future (the near future meaning after the world cup) as if he continues to perform there is no doubt a bigger and better club than villa will be able to offer him a lot more (money, European football etc) So as far as I am concerned its a fact he will depart sooner rather than later - which in all honesty if, for example, United came in for him, I for one would not begrudge him a move.

And for future reference, don't be so stupid to think that contracts mean anything, because they dont. If the right money would of been put forward by Spurs in the summer, we would have sold

Agree4 Disagree1

More and more managers are resisting offers because the player is under contract. If a player has signed a 4 year deal then the buying club must put up an offer that will reflect the possible loss to the selling club.

There is so much money in the prem. at present and by selling a player a manager could see his club lose many millions of pounds.

If we value Ben at £25m then to clear his contract simply multiply £25m x 4 and you get £100m, therefore £50m is not an unrealsitc amount.

The basis for this sort of calculation is that when a player has 1 year left on his contract the buying club knows that the sellers will take almost what they can get before the player does a Bosman. Young to MU couple of years back.

And for reference I don't think that Lambert would have sold Ben to Spuds at any money during the summer as he had to make a point. Ben had just signed an extension and spuds would have wanted to pay as little as possible. They valued Bale at a silly price but they had already spent enormous amounts of money and there fore had little negotiation space.

BigMac

Agree1 Disagree3

Which is why they made it look like the Bale move had stalled, so they could sign players before the inflated fee's due to getting £85m for Bale!

Agree2 Disagree1

But they didn't make a strong offer for Ben even when they knew Bale was going. Spuds balanced thier books with the sale of Bale so they still had money available. It doesn't alter the fact that Lambert will say no when they knock on the door

Agree2 Disagree0

Benteke is worth whatever we are happy to accept. There is no numerical figure that anyone can dream up or say that he is not worth.

If Aston Villa wish to hold on to him, then that's what will happen. If they end up getting what THEY think is a reasonable figure, then he will go.

Comparing to the cretin Ozil is useless as The Arse were completely mugged off for him. They will NEVER get their money back on him EVER, he is descending.

Benteke could be sold for 40mil + and he could still go to Real or Inter at a profit still at a later date. he may be the closest thing to Drogba that there is.

Leroy {Ed007's Note - I've got to disagree with you regarding Ozil mate, Arsenal might not ever get their money back for him but he is still only 24 (25 next month) and is a fantastic player. I don't think Arsenal will be looking to sell him on, they want him as a player for as long as possible. His signing could possibly have the same effect at the club as Bergkamp had. I will be amazed if Ozil isn't in the running for Player of the Year come May.}

Agree2 Disagree1

United could have got more for Beckham however you can't force a player to go to the highest bidder. Once a player wants to go then invariably the club are held to random. Benteke may be worth 40 m to villa (and that's not disputed by me) but he's not worth that to big clubs, hence the reason you'll have to sell him for less or have an unhappy and potentially disruptive player. With regards to the person who mentioned about hernandez being our 4th choice striker and benteke villas first - what a silly argument as hernandez would get in most teams first elevens in the world (never mind villas (with Benteke). Anyway - u hope he stays with you but this transfer window is making people delousional as to prices! Never mind what clubs think players are worth ; rightly so somebody pointed out that its what that player is worth to the club buying and that of the club selling. However falco, Cavani, ozil, Rodriguez and others weren't far off.
Benteke hasn't played in the CL and I'd nowhere near the risk. Maybe if he repeats last season. Time will tell

Adz

Agree1 Disagree1

I think these glory hunting man united fans haven't actually seen him play. And Hernandez is no better than Darren bent he just has age on his side. Highly unlikely and benteke will go for 40mil +. I'm not going to argue with anyone about that so don't waste your time writing a response

Agree4 Disagree1

No name - that's a but childish that you don't respond as it banter. Granted I haven't seen Benteke play as much as villas fans, just as you haven't seen Hernandez play. My point was that I rate Benteke highly but he isn't worth Hernandez plus millions. Everyone is entitled to opinions (whether we agree it not) and we just all respect that! This is what this site is about! If we l agreed it would be boring!

Adz

Agree3 Disagree1

I think that most people have seen a great deal of Hernandez as MU are always on the box, probably seen as much of him as MU supporters have. Villa supporters have seen him on all home games and some away games. Hernandez scores cheeky goals but Ben makes goals and scores goals. Sorry adz you are wrong.

BigMac

Agree2 Disagree2

Yeah adz your wrong lol
I'd say most fans see hernandez everyweek because united are always on tv. I'm guessing 30 seconds a week is all you see of benteke, an tbh if you really can't see the difference between the ability or the impactibility that benteke has over hernandez then this debate is pointless.

Agree4 Disagree4

Hernandez gets goals on a plate from in the 6 yard box in a very good team, benteke makes goals from anywhere on the pitch for a not so good team, and can do it week in week out against the best defenders in the league. Benteke would make such a massive difference to any team he plays in!

Honda available on a free in jan

Believable7 Unbelievable5

He will want over 60k a week but it would be nice

Agree6 Disagree2

But there would be no fee involved so it could happen

Agree3 Disagree2

Yeah but a player like him for free- big teams will offer big money, ac Milan have already agreed terms with the player I believe

Agree4 Disagree5

We ain't big enough to attract honda!

Agree8 Disagree3

Benteke will be sold in jan for 30 mil to arsenal. Kozac is his replacement and pl will have the money to invest in a proper number ten and cb. Remember who told you. Agent m

Agree5 Disagree10

I don't think that you are a million miles away with your thinking. However the fee would be considerably higher as Gunners are in need and Lambert will play hardball with any offers. Remember he was stating £25m during the window so January the price will rise by a significant amount. Also it will depend on Kozac making an impact in the way that Big Ben did last year.
Finally think about the uproar from the fans, the you and me, if he does go.
WE must wait and see.

BigMac

Agree7 Disagree2

I am getting so bored with this. There were endless rumours of benteke leaving, he signed a contract and they continued, now the transfer window has ended they still continue. Yes we have a very good player in benteke, but that doesn't mean every day has to be spent assuming when he will leave and how much for. Give it a rest for once!

Agree6 Disagree3

Benteke will stay until the world cup an then seal a movevto a elite club your barva real inter bayeen borussia wtc

Agree5 Disagree4

Benteke will stay, IF Villa this season carry on playing so well. Villa WILL sell if the right bid comes in from the right club, which could be your Real Madrid or Dortmund on a fee of £30m-£40m. If Bale is worth £85m, Benteke is easily worth £40m!

Agree7 Disagree2

While these are not rumours I think that we are all into the Benteke situation and any one that believes that he will not be transferred "at any price" are again deluded.

Big Ben is the number 1 front man in the prem. and if I was the owner of any club with the funds I would be looking at him in the early part of the season.

Yes he has a contract, yes Lambert will play hard ball, but a big bid will interest Lerner.

This is not negativety as some will clearly jump up and shout, but merely reality. The prem. is a market place and if you have a valuable item then someone else will look on with envy.

Personally I would (note "would" not "will") be so disappointed if he were to go and hope that AVFC are performing well enough for him to say "No thankyou" to suitors across Europe.

Agree2 Disagree1

If we sell him after the World Cup and he plays in a side that get far which may possibly happen and he gets golden boot he's going to be 50m minimum

Kozac spoke to Lambert on the dog and bone so where was our manager? Hmmmmm could we pull one more out the bag? Maybe just maybe I pray for an Att mid

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Was last seen about ten minutes ago in Sandwell Valley walking his dog, probably why he's on the phone.

Agree3 Disagree1

If your referring to the interview on sly I think he said he spoke to PL on the phone when this was first muted two months ago not today

Funny that because he's still at bodymoor Heath

Why would he be by the baggies ground when he lives in four oaks Sutton??

Does anyone have any other news regarding potential signings today?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Nope I think that will be it now, why did we sign another striker? that is last position we need. so disappointed we haven't even tried to get a dominating midfielder because we need one badly!

Agree5 Disagree2

I personally think that we have bought some players with great potential but not for the right positions. we need a complete AM, a solid CB and ideally a quality holding midfielder. if only King Villa's snap, crackle and pop sources had come through!

Agree8 Disagree2

"Villa have concluded their transfer business"
Official Quote to midlands today from Villa. That's it I'm afraid lads.

Agree5 Disagree3

Yep, could not agree more
Never say no to a good player though, whatever the position

Agree2 Disagree1

Kozak can play as an attacking midfielderaswell as a striker behind the two strikers

Agree2 Disagree2

No he can't he's a target man. I think pl might switch up the formation now and play 2 up top

Agree1 Disagree2

Lambert keeps referring to Helenius as a 'different type of attacker'

From what I have seen of him he looks pretty decent on the ball. The signing as Kozak is presumably as cover for Benteke (more of a like for like?) whereas PL feels Helenius offers something a bit different and might feel he can link the play behind Benteke.

Anyway I have said on here before an AM is only useful to us at home against a handful of team and that is simply down to our defence. He has to play with 3 sitting midfielders away from home for that extra protection and then look to hurt teams on the counter attack. But we have to play the same way at home against the better clubs and the teams who will invaribly have more possession then us. Having Kiyotake (or whoever) playing in that number 10 role against Spurs @ VP (for example) would be pointless as Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro (say) would all play between him and Westie and Delph and would overrun us.

It only works aginst the Hull's, Palace's and Sunderlands of this world. Yes I think we need more creativity in the side, but honestly believe PL did not see the real benefits of spending 8m/10m+ on what he would deem a luxury player.

Agree6 Disagree2

Agree hughes, helenius was never benteke's replacement he will never be able to play up top on his own in the same way benteke does because he's not a target man. He's brilliant with the ball at his feet so is definitely more of a second striker/centre forward/attacking mid. I think people presume that because he is 6ft3 he's a target striker but that's not the case. I think his closest comparison from what I have seen is fellaini, but a slightly more attacking version.

Agree4 Disagree1

Hughes very well said. And above me too! Top comments! I think Helenius will play AM role, as he is, as you say the perfect Fellani double (or potentially is) and Kozak will def be up top with CB or indeed replacement for certain games! PL knows his stuff! An AM costing £8-10m would hhave been wonderful but it's a luxury that PL saw as a hit or miss!

Believable3 Unbelievable8

What about Rodwell, Defour, Winjnaldum then Kingvilla? Thought these were all in the bag? No?

Further to my comment earlier about Chalobah now also seeing suggestions of Sigurdsson on loan from Spurs. No concrete source as yet just a rumour possibly gathering pace.

Would much rather the 7m went this way instead of the big Czech fella who I actually think is decent

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Looks like 5m for kozac is a done deal. 20 odd league games scoring no goals is slightly concerning but he did score 10 in 11 games in Europe.

Still scratching my head as to why PL wants another player who seems so similar in physique to Benteke an Helenius. I'd rather that money went on a mid.

>scg87

Agree7 Disagree0

Sigurdsson would be ideal. He can notch 10 goals from attacking midfield and wouldn't be a liability when we don't have possession.

Agree2 Disagree0

Would definetly add sigurdsson if he became available.

There a race between villa, Everton and Tottenham for Tom Ince. Hopefully we can win the race.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Suspect Spurs will not be major contenders as Paul Ince stated on Saturday that his son shown only move to a club where he was guarenteed first team football to hope with his development. In my opinion, this is unlikely at Spurs. Villa would be ideal for Ince and I hope he sees that to

Agree4 Disagree4

Ince is staying at Blackpool his contract runs out end of season and will pocket a big pay day if he performs well for his dad who are currently sitting pretty at the top of the league!

Agree3 Disagree3

Would rather have sessegnon can't believe we aren't going in for him. too late now, he's going to the baggies

Agree2 Disagree7

Sessegnon is too old and was recently charged for drunk driving-he'd probably fit in there

Agree5 Disagree3

Nah not a fan didn't do much when we smashed them 6-1! And he's too old! Want a young big name!

Agree4 Disagree3

Ince would come to us he just isn't going to throw his toys out of his pram to get the move

So it's deadline day again, does anyone know some rumoured players coming in to AVFC

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Its been mentioned on twitter (transfer rumour links) that Lambert may be looking at Chalobah from Chelsea on a season long loan.

Now we all know Lambert is not the biggest fan of loan signings. However, Chalobah would fit the current Villa mould, young, energetic, good on the ball, likes to break forward. Had a great season last year at Watford and a season at the Villa might be good for all parties.

As I said just something I have picked up on another site so wanted to share here. Not a bad shout in my mind if it was true.

Pl could be on the verge of a nice big suprise for us all. Villa have put a bid to barca for there am afellay for a season lone move. Pl don't normally go down the loan route but sees the player as a massive help and boost to villa for a small loan fee and a 50 per cent wage contribution. He did want fischer from ajax but we have not got the funds to land the player and rl would much prefer this deal if they can agree. Barca are willing to loan him as he a squad player at best there and with it being a world cup year the player needs to play and would welcome a crack in the prem with his good m8 ron vlarr. You herd this one here FIRST.

tv now reporting that Libor Kozak coming in on a season long loan.

He has the height that we need in the middle at least. Maybe another target to hold it up.

Unconvinced, but let's give him a go I guess.

Leroy

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Absolutely rubbish. There are so many better players such as Arnautovic and yet Villa seem to be chasing a donkey who has scored 26 in 100 games

Agree4 Disagree3

Scores loads in Europe and not a lot in the league

Agree2 Disagree2

Wages less than that of Delfonso?

Agree3 Disagree2

Permanent deal not a loan as I told you Lambert won't do loans.

Agree3 Disagree1

Permanent or Loan makes no difference to me Libor is not what we want or what we need! Like Bennett, a player who will frustrate until he is driven away.

Disgusted

Agree4 Disagree3

Is Disgusted your sign off name or are you feeling disgusted?

Agree2 Disagree1

This guy is a total waste of time and money if we really are in for him. A bench player at best but for me no where near helenius class. I don't see it coming off and think pl got this one wrong if it does but hey in pl we trust.

Agree1 Disagree2

No I am not totally taken by Lambert and yes Kozak is UseLESS

Agree0 Disagree3

If it happens then it's 5 mil pounds and 6,000 a week. Just goes to show Europa league top scorer on less than Delfonso.

Agree1 Disagree1

I think the bigger picture is tht Lambert must really see Helenius as the player to play forward position behind Benteke.

It seems a shame that Helenius has not yet got a shot at the starting lineup. Would love to see him and Benteke working with Gabby and Wiemann.

I would feel slightly put off by this if I were Helenius, considering his excellent preseason and then even a (rather odd) link to Real Madrid.

Leroy
