Lambert was apparently extremely close to signing Vitesse striker Wilfred Bony on dead line day

He's since scored 5 goals in 7 games

and is now hopeful villa come back in for him in january

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Yes, i heard that too but do we really need another striker?

Agree6 Disagree2

Think we need a creative mf more ?

Agree4 Disagree4

Creative mf - holman? ireland? bannan?

Agree7 Disagree2

Holman, Ireland and Bannan are our creative midfielders, but the main thing we need to do now is to sign quality improving the team and hopefully the new signings will turn quality.

Agree5 Disagree0

What is going on with Ireland? Hardly the player he once was!

Lambert is looking at Wilfried Zaha to add to his attacking options.
Lambert is also looking at a commanding central midfielder & a new centre back.

UpTheVilla!

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Personally , i think this is about right but i don't think we need zaha - we need ince or phillips ;) {Ed003's Note - No,No,No !!!!!!!!!!!!! :) }

Agree2 Disagree4

I would happily have any of the 3 at villa

Lambert consiering a 2m move for newcastle mifielder Gosling

Believable5 Unbelievable7

23 Sep 2012 08:29:54
Vlarr had a shocker second half, needs to put a foot in not just jocky players

Believable6 Unbelievable4

22 Sep 2012 16:46:17
2 steps forward 3 steps back.... i believe in the new regime but we will be bottom 7 this season, lets just hope we can gel quite quickly so we dont have too much of a relegation scare

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Dan gosling
anyone

Agree3 Disagree5

Not a bad signing but wont improve us significantly

Agree3 Disagree1

Personally wish we had gone for danny guthrie on a free before he went reading.

Heard from a trusted friend, who works within villa as a scout, has told me that Lambert does not have time for the older players e.g. Given, Warnock, Hutton, Dunne etc.. bar Petrov. apparently he feels that they are not bothered so Lambert is sticking to his signings and kids. Expect a few departures in January, followed by replacements!
UTV

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Dunne hasn't even trained, You have NO idea.

Agree4 Disagree4

Get rid of all of em, just greedy 2nd rate players, who Mon signed for far to much. Besides we are putting together a championship side for next season. For all you dreamers out there who keep saying the futures bright etc, wake up to stay up this season will be an achievement. Back in the Gregory days regardless of who came to Villa park I expected us to win, shocking how far we have sunk in terms of expectation.

Agree3 Disagree2

20 Sep 2012 07:11:55
stephen warnock could complete a loan move to Bolton asap.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Prob championship standard at the moment

Agree3 Disagree2

Its a loan move to Blackburn

Agree3 Disagree2

No BOLTON, signed for 3 month loan deal. Lets hope it becomes permenant

with allbrighton to come back and also dunne, warnock ,hutton to get rid off and the signing made by the club it wont be long before we are absolutley flying !!! Thankyou Mr Lerner and Paul Lambert for getting us back on track after the mess mon had us in !!!! UP THE VILLA !!!!

Believable14 Unbelievable1

Hutton will more likely go on loan with us paying a large majority of his wages.
I think Lerner has finally paid us back for hiring AML (or is starting to!) now we need to beat the Saints and see Bent & N'Zog back to form!

Agree2 Disagree0

It's one win hardly back on track is it now?

Agree5 Disagree7

1-1 against newcastle and us being the first team to beat swansea in the league the form they've been on so far. I would take those four points all year long. 3 points against saints next and atleast one against wba

Agree3 Disagree3

To the negative person who wrote its hardly back on track now is it? Fans like you should have gone off with aml! Or are you another fan from another team poking his rotten nose in?

Agree5 Disagree4

13 Sep 2012 17:23:26
Adam Lallana anybody?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Great buy but only if southamptin get relegated

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd have him, but I think he'd have higher sights that is of course if the saints let him go.

After his performances for celtic anybody think we should take a punt on 18 year old Tony Watt. He has an eye for goal with decent players giving him chances.

One prehaps for the future. Im surely ganna keep an eye on his progress.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Who ever disagreed with my post, hope you all watched the celtic game last night. This lad is heading for the big leagues.

I for one would like to see that ukraine player that scored against england the other night given a trial by us. Dubbed ukraine "Messi".

However his side Diprino.... would want a larger sum then we could possibly offer :(

Believable2 Unbelievable2

What about the guy who plays on the otgerside, he is class also

Agree2 Disagree2

Falls over to much, he fell over after going shoulder to shoulder with Defoe, causing the ref to dis-allow his goal. If you noticed ulkraine employed Mcleish tactics with 10 men in there own half for most of the match.

Agree1 Disagree0

That's Ok if he falls over to much, it will be like having Ashley young back:)

Villa to sign Yoan Grouffran in january for 3m
as he's out of contract in the summer

Believable8 Unbelievable2

If only

Agree0 Disagree0

3m for a 26 year old with less than 6 months left on his contract...
Doubt it

Agree4 Disagree1

Wouldn't even pay £2m for YG.

Agree2 Disagree4

Such positive villa fans.....
no pain no glory

Will Petrov be playing this year as he was included in the 25 man squad?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Doudt it mate

Agree2 Disagree0

You never know last month or two of the season. He will defo be i the dressing room at games cuz he is a natural leader and lambert wouldnt have kept him as captain otherwise

Agree2 Disagree1

He's in remission but unless its 5 minutes at the end of a game , I can't really see it personally mate :)

Swansea are in the market for a replacement rb after Neil Taylor's season ending injury, they can take Hutton of our books, as he is dead wood now.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Neil taylor is a left back so maybe we can get rid of warnock instead

Agree3 Disagree0

Perhaps a buy one get one free!

ssssssssshhhhhhh to all the doubters its only1 game but the boys did us proud yesterday and the work rate was tremendous im genuinely buzzin and can't wait for the next game and its the first time I've said that since mon was there. Bring on the youngsters and lets rattle some cages. In lambert i trust villa till i die

Believable4 Unbelievable1

News flash: Darren Bent passes the BALL!
Bent passes & Ireland plays well? what has happened!? I'll tell you what .... Lambert my lord!

Agree2 Disagree1

Newcastle played badly we're still a very poor side, and normal service will be resumed in our next game at Villa Park.

Agree3 Disagree8

Nothing like a bit of usual optimism. The reason newcastle played badly is because we forced them to. Get behind the team instead of hammering them. Unless your really a blue nose.

Agree7 Disagree1

Benteke will net us 15 this year just wait and see all u haters he is the new drogba (villa till i die)

Agree3 Disagree2

Newcastle played badly we're still a very poor side, and normal service will be resumed in our next game at Villa Park.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
No pal , I went to Sports direct arena & we were top quality.
We could of been hammered if it wasn't for Vlaar,Guzan & Lichaj!
BUT we played well , top quality , haven't seen us play that well in 30 years!

Agree2 Disagree3

Also at Newcastle and it was definately a case of Newcastle not being allowed to play rather. Villa played with a passion and energy we didn't see at any time under McLeish. Onwards and Upwards !!

Agree1 Disagree1

You have not see us play that well in 30 years. That must be the most outrageous comment i have read on this site.

Does anyone else think that Michael Owen, and Craig Gordon would both be great pickups as Free Agents? Just a suggestion for back up players...

Believable1 Unbelievable9

No - we have five strikers in 1st team squad already and two keepers capable of playing in Premier League.

Agree6 Disagree1

Michael owen is a crock admittedly when he manages to get on the pitch he has a good completion rate but that is rare and his wages are too high and we have several strikers especially considering new signings

Agree5 Disagree1

I hope this rumour about Heskey is nt true!
Why would Lambert do this?
Don't sign him just because he's free!!!

Agree3 Disagree1

Just heard on TV about The Heskey deal.we do need a proven forward and I hope Lambert can pull it off!
Villa tilll I die

Agree2 Disagree2

Benteke, bent, weimann & gabby. It's tough enough already to choose 2 or 3 to start , Owen would be no-where near the bench either - even Burke beats the player that is Michael Owen!

Agree0 Disagree2

5 strikers in the team???? why the hell did the ones we had, Bent, Wein. Gab, Def, not score goals last year. WE need Arthur Scargill to show us a good strike!!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree1

Bent was injured and Delf n Weim r both young and inexperienced as a striker in prem (Fonz was used as wing by MON wen being a sub) and Gabby has never realised his potential. He plays better off a big man too.

Agree0 Disagree1

Y disagree with fact

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i never expected anything from Villa, we were undetectably the better team Yesterday.
We should of won!
Holman was the best player, in terms of defending from the front, and his enthusiastic energy carried through the team.
Vlaar and Lowton yet again were solid, mostly impressed of Lowton. KEA was solid the first half, but seemed to go abit quite the second, before going of.
Guzan outshone any expectations i had of him, complete control of his area and maybe two or three good saves before the match saver in the last minute.
Can't wait to see the rest of the signings, Benteke especially.
UTV!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Don't get to excited. Newcastle are now in the Pardew burnout Syndrome as every club he goes to has this problem, The fact they played crap and made you lot look good. Like I said, Don't start the celebrations yet

Agree3 Disagree4

Don't know who you support, maybe NUFC by the way you said 'made you lot look good'. even though Newcastle did play really bad, the way that we played was a vast improvement to the game against everton. we dominated in every area of the pitch, if we lost it every player would be defending from the front trying to get it back. it only took a wonder goal from Ben Arfa to stop us.

I for one am quite happy with the transfer window and even if I was not its in the past and time to get behind the team and urge the new guys on.
We have a young team with some existing players that if Lambert can make play then they will be like new signings. We have 3 to come back from injury, and I think we will evaluate in January. The prem is the toughest it has been and we need to get behind the team and not cause headlines or just moan. Villa have turned the corner and a new era is upon us.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Benteke really excites me i hope with him in the team gabby is deployed on the wing

Vlaar, Holman and El Ahmadi look solid

and lowton and bennet cant be any worse than their predessor's

Baker as centre back with Vlaar look a good team

Agree9 Disagree1

I'm quite optimistic about these signings, Holman, El Ahmadi, Vlaar and Lowton all look solid players, hopefully the rest of the signing will continue in this fashion. however not sure about westwood, lambert obviously sees something in him and so do SSN pundits. but only one way to see.
UTV!

Agree5 Disagree0

Westwood seems be a player with the ability of carrick from united. Or so he stats anyway.

Agree6 Disagree0

Brett Holman, is not premiership class, on the upside Ireland looked decent and Vlar appears to be settling. If not for a "unstoppable" effort by Arfa the win would have been ours! VTD

Agree4 Disagree4

Wow a 1-1 draw,I really thought we'd get tonked 4or5-0 today ! I still wish we had a proven prem manager, but maybe going for the cheap options will payoff !!up the villains

Agree2 Disagree4

Holman isn't premiership class? i believe you were NOT watching the newcastle game mate!
He was immense!
Gabby looked good, Vlaar needs to stop running with the ball upfield.
Benteke & Bennett to start against Swansea = 3 points to the villa!

(guzan for ftw btw)

Agree2 Disagree3

Holman not p/ship class?he ran his socks off sunday pity more of the players were not in his bracket and accually earned the thousands of pounds a week they are getting

Agree2 Disagree1

Holman chased everything yesterday, ran his heart out and was probably one of the reasons why Newcastle couldn't play the ball round in midfield as much as they would normal do.

Agree2 Disagree1

Dion Dublin thought Holman was the best villa player on the park. Lots of good individual performances yesterday and we should have picked up three points as we had more than enough chances to finish Newcastle. Vast improvement on the first two games and more to come. Think PL signings are showing why he has faith in them. Lots of competition for starting places will help bring out the best, looking forward to seeing what Benteke can bring to the party

Agree2 Disagree0

Guzman was our best player against Newcastle. Holman is supposed to be an attacking midfielder not a ball chaser.

Agree1 Disagree2

Holman let ben arfa go too easily instead of pressuring and closing down for the goal.

Agree2 Disagree1
