Ivelin popov deal almost done? Thoughts avfc fans

Not sure what Popov would be likely to bring to us really. Just another squad player clogging up the dressing room I should think.

I live in Kent and a big story going round is that Gunners will be in for Benteke in January. Apparently Gunners have had him watched on a regular basis, as with most clubs, and will bid in January.

Why exactly does saying it in KENT make it any more true and likely to happen?
The significance escapes me.
If Arsenal have been scouting him for the last few weeks they can hardly have been very impressed if he is going to cost them upwards of 30 million pounds, which he will.

Well Us (Villa) won't sell then! I doubt you are really a Villa fan, as we will sell on our terms, you forget he signed a new 4 year contract with no release clause. So we hold all the cards! Gunners have pay going rate, World Cup is coming up, he needs to hit top form! Villa have already said will take a MASSIVE bid to make us sell, and it's known that we would be seeing around £40mil plus! :)

Doubt that Arsenal or any other big club with pots of money to spend would bid for Benteke if they have watched him lately. Not sure what has gone wrong with him since the injury but he's not the same player.

Look at Benteke' record for before Christmas. Every season he scores double the amount of goals in the second half off the season. Roll on January with the Beast upfront!

Apparently Villa are competing with 3 Russian sides for the signature of Bulgarian Captain Ivelin Popov after failing to sign him in the summer

Based on the performances of Tonev so far I would give any more Bulgarians a wide berth.

Bulgaria are not a world force in foot ball, we can give any more 'potentials' a miss in my opinion.

Bit surprised to be honest that Stilyan Petrov recommended Tonev to us so highly.
He obviously saw something in him that has eluded the rest of us.

If you watch him closely Tonev does make some intelligent runs and you can't fault his directness but to shoot evertime you are within 30 yards of goal is ridiculous. Hopefully PL and the rest of the team can weed that out of him because he could be a top player for us

In my opinion tonev is a good player he's just a little raw at the moment. Give him a year or so to settle. I hope to see helenius play soon or he will want to leave. Can't see why we signed kozak if we have him attacking mid should of been the priority. But don't get me wrong kozak is a good player in his own right

Just herd a rumor that pl is willing to sell brad guzan in jan if a offer of 10 million is put on the table with arsenal said to be interested. Lambert would use the money to bring in forester from celtic for around 4 million and wants to try for wijnaldum for around 8 million. That means uncle randy only finding 2 million which he would be willing to sanction.

This really is utter rubbish. If Guzan is worth 10 million then Forster is not going to be bought for only 4 million.
Go back to sleep and dream again.

Forster is around 4 mil imo. And guzan is 8 mil +

As a Norwich Fan I can see there may be a bit of substance to this rumor, even if King Vila is full of s**T. Lambert had Forster on loan at Norwich and IMO he is a top class keeper, he is one of those players that Lambert has the ability to push up a level and really get the best out of. I must also admit IMO Guzan is among the top 6 keepers in the premiership.

They would be two very good signings. Wijnaldum is a playmaker, and Forster is a goalkeeper, who has clean sheets in almost half of the matches that he has played so far, which is what Lambert is looking for.

Clean sheets against the likes of aberdeen and dundee what an achievement! forster is rubbish especially when compared to big brad!

Wilfried zaha loan verbal agreement reached for jan?

Would be a decent loan for both villa and zaha. I think Lambert would get the best out of him. He's a young player and I think going to a young team would suit him.

Would only fit our 433 formation and even then I'd still rather play weimann

Think you'll find Zaha will be going to Newcastle in January on loan for the rest of the season.

Lambert has always said he won't loan players. So why would he start now! unless United are selling Zaha not loaning him - there is no story there mate

We took Dawkins on loan last year.
I don't see that we have much choice other than to use the loan market

Dawkins was more of a confidence boost signing, that Villa wanted a fresh face more than anything. Lambo learnt his lesson on doing that - that is was a waste of money.

We don't want Dempsey. He turned us down before without even having the courtesy to speak to Lambert because we were apparantly not good enough for him.
I don't deny we could do with a little experience in the side but definitely not him.

The takeover will happen in my opinion and gerrard will be back at the villa as a bored member. This will all be done and fumds I place for the jan window where I see 2 big players come in to help our kids out then a big shake up and spend next summer.

Sorry this is simply not going to happen. Forget the fantasy we will be a middle of the road going nowhere club until Randy sells up! Only fear is we may get relegated in the meantime

Just to make clear i'm talking about gerrard houllier on the bored not steven gerrard. I have not herd anything more than a rumor and only a small chance this deal will happen but in my opinion it will as randy has lost interest and does not want to invest anymore and would welcome £120 million and run. Pl would also be replaced as manager with redbull wanting a high profile name. Arsene wenger would be there man.
