We have the squad players, I really think that we need to pick up 3 or 4 quality, experience players in the summer and we will be a good mid/top half team next season. Not yet sure that we will stay up though! Personally I hope we can get:
- Lescott £4 million.
- R. Martin £3 million.
- Sinclair - £5 million.
- L. Diarra - £8 million.
That would top up the squad I think. Winston Reid & Luke Murphy are also good shouts I feel.
Believable4
Unbelievable8
I think we need to add some creativity and we have to get young playmakers because experianced playmakers would cost too much
Agree1
Disagree3
Just need a couple of decent wingers and mor strength in depth on the bench
Agree2
Disagree2
Carruthers, N'zogbia, and Sinclair and even Albrighton if he learns to cross that would be decent service to the strikers
Agree3
Disagree1
Albrightons crossing is great. It's everything else that let's him down
Agree0
Disagree11
Albrighton doesn't cross he trys to take defenders on fakes left cuts onto his right and then shoots and usually misses
Agree7
Disagree2
Im curious, if we sign Sinclair, would he get ahead of Gabby or Weimann in the wide positions of a front 3? Not sure I'd pick him I their place
Agree5
Disagree0
When you say Diarra, you mean Lassana Diarra? The guy is probably on £150k a week at Anzi, so don't expect him to be playing at AV next season lol
But if we're dreaming I'll take Xavi an Iniesta, thro in falcao aswell ;)

Assuming we stay up, Lambert is looking for young creative players to add some flair and creativity, and is supposedly watching Filip Jankovic and Andik Vermansyah
Believable6
Unbelievable5
I like the thought of these two players joining but the first player plays for Belgrade who will want a lot for him.
Agree1

I think Marco Van Ginkel would be a great addition, would cost about 7 mil though
Agree4

Agree with above, but I think Will Hughes and Michail Antonio would add some creativity and width

Marco van ginkel is talk with Norwich my friend. I'm sorry my English not good. Marco was at Norwich on the international break. All over the news here.

Samir Carruthers could be off to Derby in a seasons loan in the summer.
Believable4
Unbelievable4
No he needs to stay at villa and be promoted
Agree5

Would rather have Grealish promoted full time with Drennan than Carruthers in all honesty
Agree1

Would take all 3
but I think Carruthers is ready for the step up and maybe the other 2 need a lil more neuturing and also keen to see what the fonz brings next season as he's had some half decent from
Agree0

Carruthers should have had far more playing time for us this season, he's ready for prem football now, he just needs time on the pitch. Scg87

Lambert interested in signing former player versatile defender Russell Martin from Brighton
Believable2
Unbelievable6
Is that the same Russell Martin who plays for Norwich? No chance of getting him
Agree4
Disagree2
Haha, thought none of city's players were good enough for village
Agree1
Disagree0
You can't afford the £30. mil and Lambert already knows the answer to his enquirie, so he's not phoned McNally
Agree3
Disagree2
Ooh you are a rascall, always saying something silly about the Villa. Bet you are a wag down at the YMCA. PL wouldn't need £30m, that would buy the club, and most of the fans, half of Norfolk and at least two of Delias cook books. Without the cook books £30 would do the job.
Agree8
Disagree4
Who shall I buy this summer, russel martin for £30mill or neymar for £10mill more? Get real mate, next you'll be telling me we're after grant holt but we can't afford his £80mill price tag! Joker
Agree3
Disagree1
Watch out Russel Martin, they want you, they want you, they want you as a new recruit. haha
Agree0
Disagree0
Russell Martin is worth about 1million at best, I would rather have him in my defence than any one of Villas back four, he can play anywhere, has lots of experience, will score goals, and every time he pulls the shirt on gives 100%, money can't buy a player like that.
Agree4
Disagree1
U sayin martin is better then vlaar?
Agree3
Disagree2
No, maybe not better, I would just rather have him.
Agree4
Disagree1
Yoy still can't afford him, Norwich debt free no need to sell before we buy, and two players are in process of joining with Wolfeswinkle, deals are done

Just wanting to look a little further into transfer speculation:
The papers are always loading off Villa's next top players with moves away, they are great at unsettling players! Which shows when Weimann has stated he hasn't turned any deal down & Villa will wait till the summer.
Benteke to leave?
I think if Villa do stay up, he'll stay for at least 1 more season & if he's not a 1 season wonder - he'll be off on a more inflated fee.
Hooper to come to VP?
Would be a cheap & good option! Replace Bent on his inflated wages & sell him for about £8m which is roughly the price Hooper will be in the summer and Hooper will have probably half the wage.
Weimann to leave?
Can't honestly see him leaving at all this summer.
He's only on £15k a week & I'd rather we kept him for 1 last season if he's wanting to move onto "bigger" things as papers are "saying" he is. When we'd only get about £5m for him this summer if he doesn't sign a new deal.
Lescott & Sinclair?
Sinclair was wanted by PL in the summer & to get him on a cut price deal would be great for Villa as its a budget buy and he'd offer a bit more width to Villa's midfield.
Lescott & Vlaar anyone? Would be a solid partnership with a backup of Clark & Baker who can both fill in with wider roles - it all sounds great in the grand scale of things!
Believable8
Unbelievable9
Lmao hooper seriously Norwich have become the club to compete against with ricky van wolfswinkle an the people they are after behind closed doors is crazy where has there money come from reports are the rvw was money from January. This makes me wonder why lambert left Norwich it was all over the papers it was the transfer funds but that's over 20m in transfers from Norwich in 1 season bassong 5. 5 ricky 8. 5 tettey 2. 5 snodgrass 3 turner 3. So us looking at hooper Martin and that is not really promising. Why are we not going after the players like Norwich in biglia van g and that. Which have to be true because how on earth did they get rvw if there's not going to be players that show ambition.
Agree4
Disagree0
And to top it all we will still be debt free come end of season
Agree6
Disagree0
The reason Lambert left Norwich in my opinion is he was too scared of beating the "second season syndrome" the real reason is probably down to money, although after all he achieved at Norwich I would think he could have named his price to stay, rumours down here at the time were, Villa are seen as a bigger club with lots of money to spend. I guess only he knows
Agree5
Disagree0
Benteke or RVW? Bentekkers!
Villa have more quality in their team than Norwich. Holt or Bent? Bent!
Next season : Villa above Canaries!
Agree5
Disagree3
Was it 4-1 to Villa in the cup? I believe so! Oh & at Carrow Road? Really?! Yep it was!
Agree2
Disagree1
Hooper won't be cheap and you will not get £8M for Bent. I doubt Hooper will leave Celtic for a club threatened by relegation
Agree3
Disagree4
RVW or Bent or Benteke, RVW thanks
Agree5
Disagree4
Maybe the Norwich board didn't trust lambert with big money
Agree3
Disagree3
It would appear the villagers are getting jealous of our finances
Agree5
Disagree0
And the 4-1 Win was given to you in a pointless cup match, let's see how a league match differs,
Agree6
Disagree0
Villa fan here I must admit Norwich did have players who are not even championship players when we played them. And for lambert I think Norwich didn't trust him with the money there's no reason he would have left Norwich for us as his wages are a massive 2k a week more wow massive amounts there. And the problem we have is out strikers won't be our strikers come the summer we have to sell to buy Norwich don't have to sell to buy the I only players they will sell are the players that don't even get a look in at the game they will be replaced with quality. Ill hold my hands up very jealous of Norwich. Not jealous of qpr as they have gone the same way as man city and Chelsea Norwich have worked for there status and every player gives them 100% that's what we need to do. We also need our older players out there. So Norwich fans looks like you might be having a very good summer and I wish you the best of luck for this season. let's just hope Harry makes qpr like Portsmouth :)
Agree3
Disagree1
Why would the great AVFC be jealous of your fiances? Arn't you a silly boy.

Only pointless when you lose. Strange that, its always good when you win even against reserves.

Villa have the Academy about x1000 the size of Canaries. NextGen CL final here I come!
Lambert has said both Benteke & Weimann are staying & want to stay.
Villa are the 5th most successful club ever in England, any Canaries fans who think they are better are just simply deluded!
Agree3

5th most successful, when were all you FA cup wins, in the 19th century. no success in this millennium.
Agree3

When were your cup wins? Have you ever won anything?
Agree14

Don't look now but Spurs are after Benteke, Now what do you think the value will be and do you think Villa will stand a chance of turning his head when a team like Spurs come knocking, I doubt it very Much

Believable13

Yes. . .
Agree11

Sunderland are doing us all sorts of favours now and we still have to play a few of the team in touching distance. The teams just above us need to start looking over their shoulder because if they're not careful it won't just be villa that catch up with them.

Summer transfer targets if we stay up:
Mohamed Diame.
Scott Sinclair.
Jolson Lescott.
Bakary Sako.
Luke Murphy.
Gary Hooper.
What do you think villa fans. {Ed001's Note - along with Luke Murphy of Crewe, Villa have been looking at Matt Tootle and Max Clayton from there, this season.}
Believable4
Unbelievable4
I can see Hooper being a great Villa signing - hopefully not to become the new bench boy with Bent!
Agree1
Disagree6
Don't really rate hooper I would never spend big in the Scottish league it's to risky. I could probably make an exception for wanyama and spend 500k Nigel hasselbaink
Agree2
Disagree2
1) Hooper will not leave to sit on the bench
2) Hooper would not be bought as a back up
3)Hooper will not be sold for less than £10m
4) Hooper has proved he can cut it at CL level which is a step above EPL.

25 Mar 2013 17:20:24
As it looks like Wolves are going down to league one I think we should look at signing Bakary Sako. He has shown what a good player he can be with good players around him who are good. And we do need someone who can deliver a good ball in to the box.
Believable7
Unbelievable4
My brother is a season ticket holder at wolves and I have gone with him half a dozen times this season. Sakho does score goals, yes. However he is a bit of a passenger and I don't think he is a player worth considering. Honestly not a player who has demonstrated being any more than a bit of a luxury at Wolves, and we can't afford a luxury player, let alone one that is not that great
Agree3
Disagree3
Would be able to get him cheaper though if wolves do go down to league one.

Well, Lescott' s supposedly going for 4m, and Sinclair can't be worth more than 6 so maybe 10m is the max we would pay for both

Norwich fan here. Aaaaaaa! Honestly wouldn't have him for half a million. Light weight in midfield and doesn't do much. Whoever posted this rumour. Leave it out!
Agree3

BB is improving vastly recently as he's cut out his Hollywood passing techniques. Same with Delph really, get a lot of criticism but aren't actually too bad players!
Agree4

Norwich Fan here, Can't see Norwich or Villa doing any kind of deals as long as Lambert is in charge, No not bitter but the man has shot his lot with McNally, who is as hard as nails when it comes to bearing grudges
Agree0
Disagree4
Norwich fan here - Bannan is a decent player but too much of a drama queen for Hughton. For 9 mill I would be embarrassed if we got him!
Agree1
Disagree2
Bannan is shocking defensively but give him a couple of years and he'll be running the shop attacking wise

Aston Villa are lining up a summer move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper, according to reports.
The Sunday People claims Villa are looking to capitalise on the Englishman's contract situation by making a bid in the off-season.
Hooper has been a regular scorer for the Bhoys since joining from Scunthorpe United in 2010, netting 77 times in 129 appearances. {Ed002's Note - You can add interest from Inter Milan who see him as a cheaper alternative to their planned loan-to-buy deal for Sanchez. Aston Villa will continue to seek a new deal.}

Weimann will stay its just paper talk. And anyway they are signing wolfswinkle from Lisbon. Sinclair would be a bit of a risk but I would be willing to do it. Also hangeland is out of contract in the summer. Surely a 3 year contract can't be a big ask
Agree7

Indeed it is tempting if he wants to stay in the prem. another aspect would be quality of life, who wants to bring up a young family in the horrible city of Birmingham recent headlines being taken into consideration. So yes VERY tempting.

The fact that people of your mentality live there would suggest that East Anglia is no kind of idyll. I hope that when you become an adult (I assume I am talking to someone under the age of 11) you will be less ignorant and show a little humility when your lack of judgement is pointed out to you.
Lastly, how much time have you spent in Birmingham exactly?

The fact is with Bennett is that he is thick and makes poor decisions in possession
It will take a helluva lot of coaching to get that out of his system
We can't afford to play the guy. I would rather have Lichaj at left back

I'd rather have Clark at left back as he's got more agility than Baker.
