We have the squad players, I really think that we need to pick up 3 or 4 quality, experience players in the summer and we will be a good mid/top half team next season. Not yet sure that we will stay up though! Personally I hope we can get:

- Lescott £4 million.
- R. Martin £3 million.
- Sinclair - £5 million.
- L. Diarra - £8 million.

That would top up the squad I think. Winston Reid & Luke Murphy are also good shouts I feel.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

I think we need to add some creativity and we have to get young playmakers because experianced playmakers would cost too much

Agree1 Disagree3

Just need a couple of decent wingers and mor strength in depth on the bench

Agree2 Disagree2

Carruthers, N'zogbia, and Sinclair and even Albrighton if he learns to cross that would be decent service to the strikers

Agree3 Disagree1

Albrightons crossing is great. It's everything else that let's him down

Agree0 Disagree11

Albrighton doesn't cross he trys to take defenders on fakes left cuts onto his right and then shoots and usually misses

Agree7 Disagree2

Im curious, if we sign Sinclair, would he get ahead of Gabby or Weimann in the wide positions of a front 3? Not sure I'd pick him I their place

Agree5 Disagree0

When you say Diarra, you mean Lassana Diarra? The guy is probably on £150k a week at Anzi, so don't expect him to be playing at AV next season lol

But if we're dreaming I'll take Xavi an Iniesta, thro in falcao aswell ;)

Agree7 Disagree0

Assuming we stay up, Lambert is looking for young creative players to add some flair and creativity, and is supposedly watching Filip Jankovic and Andik Vermansyah

Believable6 Unbelievable5

I like the thought of these two players joining but the first player plays for Belgrade who will want a lot for him.

Agree1 Disagree4

I think Marco Van Ginkel would be a great addition, would cost about 7 mil though

Agree4 Disagree5

Agree with above, but I think Will Hughes and Michail Antonio would add some creativity and width

Agree5 Disagree6

Marco van ginkel is talk with Norwich my friend. I'm sorry my English not good. Marco was at Norwich on the international break. All over the news here.

Agree4 Disagree1

You're thinking of lisbons wolfswinkle not this guy van ginkle plays for vitesse

Agree1 Disagree2

Rvw has joined Norwich already.
Macro van ginkel was in Norwich.

Agree5 Disagree0

Sorry yes you was right can ginkle was linked with Norwich

Samir Carruthers could be off to Derby in a seasons loan in the summer.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

No he needs to stay at villa and be promoted

Agree5 Disagree2

Would rather have Grealish promoted full time with Drennan than Carruthers in all honesty

Agree1 Disagree1

Would take all 3

but I think Carruthers is ready for the step up and maybe the other 2 need a lil more neuturing and also keen to see what the fonz brings next season as he's had some half decent from

Agree0 Disagree0

Carruthers should have had far more playing time for us this season, he's ready for prem football now, he just needs time on the pitch. Scg87

Heard we are intrested in wigans james mcarthy

Lambert interested in signing former player versatile defender Russell Martin from Brighton

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Is that the same Russell Martin who plays for Norwich? No chance of getting him

Agree4 Disagree2

Haha, thought none of city's players were good enough for village

Agree1 Disagree0

You can't afford the £30. mil and Lambert already knows the answer to his enquirie, so he's not phoned McNally

Agree3 Disagree2

Ooh you are a rascall, always saying something silly about the Villa. Bet you are a wag down at the YMCA. PL wouldn't need £30m, that would buy the club, and most of the fans, half of Norfolk and at least two of Delias cook books. Without the cook books £30 would do the job.

Agree8 Disagree4

Who shall I buy this summer, russel martin for £30mill or neymar for £10mill more? Get real mate, next you'll be telling me we're after grant holt but we can't afford his £80mill price tag! Joker

Agree3 Disagree1

Watch out Russel Martin, they want you, they want you, they want you as a new recruit. haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Russell Martin is worth about 1million at best, I would rather have him in my defence than any one of Villas back four, he can play anywhere, has lots of experience, will score goals, and every time he pulls the shirt on gives 100%, money can't buy a player like that.

Agree4 Disagree1

U sayin martin is better then vlaar?

Agree3 Disagree2

No, maybe not better, I would just rather have him.

Agree4 Disagree1

Yoy still can't afford him, Norwich debt free no need to sell before we buy, and two players are in process of joining with Wolfeswinkle, deals are done

Agree1 Disagree3

Just wanting to look a little further into transfer speculation:

The papers are always loading off Villa's next top players with moves away, they are great at unsettling players! Which shows when Weimann has stated he hasn't turned any deal down & Villa will wait till the summer.

Benteke to leave?

I think if Villa do stay up, he'll stay for at least 1 more season & if he's not a 1 season wonder - he'll be off on a more inflated fee.

Hooper to come to VP?

Would be a cheap & good option! Replace Bent on his inflated wages & sell him for about £8m which is roughly the price Hooper will be in the summer and Hooper will have probably half the wage.

Weimann to leave?

Can't honestly see him leaving at all this summer.
He's only on £15k a week & I'd rather we kept him for 1 last season if he's wanting to move onto "bigger" things as papers are "saying" he is. When we'd only get about £5m for him this summer if he doesn't sign a new deal.

Lescott & Sinclair?

Sinclair was wanted by PL in the summer & to get him on a cut price deal would be great for Villa as its a budget buy and he'd offer a bit more width to Villa's midfield.
Lescott & Vlaar anyone? Would be a solid partnership with a backup of Clark & Baker who can both fill in with wider roles - it all sounds great in the grand scale of things!

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Lmao hooper seriously Norwich have become the club to compete against with ricky van wolfswinkle an the people they are after behind closed doors is crazy where has there money come from reports are the rvw was money from January. This makes me wonder why lambert left Norwich it was all over the papers it was the transfer funds but that's over 20m in transfers from Norwich in 1 season bassong 5. 5 ricky 8. 5 tettey 2. 5 snodgrass 3 turner 3. So us looking at hooper Martin and that is not really promising. Why are we not going after the players like Norwich in biglia van g and that. Which have to be true because how on earth did they get rvw if there's not going to be players that show ambition.

Agree4 Disagree0

And to top it all we will still be debt free come end of season

Agree6 Disagree0

The reason Lambert left Norwich in my opinion is he was too scared of beating the "second season syndrome" the real reason is probably down to money, although after all he achieved at Norwich I would think he could have named his price to stay, rumours down here at the time were, Villa are seen as a bigger club with lots of money to spend. I guess only he knows

Agree5 Disagree0

Benteke or RVW? Bentekkers!
Villa have more quality in their team than Norwich. Holt or Bent? Bent!

Next season : Villa above Canaries!

Agree5 Disagree3

Was it 4-1 to Villa in the cup? I believe so! Oh & at Carrow Road? Really?! Yep it was!

Agree2 Disagree1

Hooper won't be cheap and you will not get £8M for Bent. I doubt Hooper will leave Celtic for a club threatened by relegation

Agree3 Disagree4

RVW or Bent or Benteke, RVW thanks

Agree5 Disagree4

Maybe the Norwich board didn't trust lambert with big money

Agree3 Disagree3

It would appear the villagers are getting jealous of our finances

Agree5 Disagree0

And the 4-1 Win was given to you in a pointless cup match, let's see how a league match differs,

Agree6 Disagree0

Villa fan here I must admit Norwich did have players who are not even championship players when we played them. And for lambert I think Norwich didn't trust him with the money there's no reason he would have left Norwich for us as his wages are a massive 2k a week more wow massive amounts there. And the problem we have is out strikers won't be our strikers come the summer we have to sell to buy Norwich don't have to sell to buy the I only players they will sell are the players that don't even get a look in at the game they will be replaced with quality. Ill hold my hands up very jealous of Norwich. Not jealous of qpr as they have gone the same way as man city and Chelsea Norwich have worked for there status and every player gives them 100% that's what we need to do. We also need our older players out there. So Norwich fans looks like you might be having a very good summer and I wish you the best of luck for this season. let's just hope Harry makes qpr like Portsmouth :)

Agree3 Disagree1

Why would the great AVFC be jealous of your fiances? Arn't you a silly boy.

Agree4 Disagree1

Only pointless when you lose. Strange that, its always good when you win even against reserves.

Agree3 Disagree0

Villa have the Academy about x1000 the size of Canaries. NextGen CL final here I come!

Lambert has said both Benteke & Weimann are staying & want to stay.
Villa are the 5th most successful club ever in England, any Canaries fans who think they are better are just simply deluded!

Agree3 Disagree1

5th most successful, when were all you FA cup wins, in the 19th century. no success in this millennium.

Agree3 Disagree5

When were your cup wins? Have you ever won anything?

Agree14 Disagree1

Don't look now but Spurs are after Benteke, Now what do you think the value will be and do you think Villa will stand a chance of turning his head when a team like Spurs come knocking, I doubt it very Much

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Mar 2013 17:39:18
PL said at start of feb we needed 6 more wins. Since then we have won three and played a lot better. Do you think we will stay up?

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Yes. . .

Agree11 Disagree3

Sunderland are doing us all sorts of favours now and we still have to play a few of the team in touching distance. The teams just above us need to start looking over their shoulder because if they're not careful it won't just be villa that catch up with them.

Agree2 Disagree2

Beat Stoke &/or Blunderland - yes!

Agree5 Disagree4

Steven fletcher out for the season!

Agree7 Disagree0

Fletcher and Catherine out for season and oneil doesn't win games in April
I said on the banter page Sunderland to get dragged in and sink

Agree6 Disagree1

26 Mar 2013 11:42:06
Summer transfer targets if we stay up:

Mohamed Diame.
Scott Sinclair.
Jolson Lescott.
Bakary Sako.
Luke Murphy.
Gary Hooper.

What do you think villa fans. {Ed001's Note - along with Luke Murphy of Crewe, Villa have been looking at Matt Tootle and Max Clayton from there, this season.}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I can see Hooper being a great Villa signing - hopefully not to become the new bench boy with Bent!

Agree1 Disagree6

Don't really rate hooper I would never spend big in the Scottish league it's to risky. I could probably make an exception for wanyama and spend 500k Nigel hasselbaink

Agree2 Disagree2

1) Hooper will not leave to sit on the bench
2) Hooper would not be bought as a back up
3)Hooper will not be sold for less than £10m
4) Hooper has proved he can cut it at CL level which is a step above EPL.

Agree1 Disagree3

25 Mar 2013 17:20:24
As it looks like Wolves are going down to league one I think we should look at signing Bakary Sako. He has shown what a good player he can be with good players around him who are good. And we do need someone who can deliver a good ball in to the box.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

My brother is a season ticket holder at wolves and I have gone with him half a dozen times this season. Sakho does score goals, yes. However he is a bit of a passenger and I don't think he is a player worth considering. Honestly not a player who has demonstrated being any more than a bit of a luxury at Wolves, and we can't afford a luxury player, let alone one that is not that great

Agree3 Disagree3

Would be able to get him cheaper though if wolves do go down to league one.

Agree6 Disagree3

Villa planning a double swoop for Sinclair and Lescott for 8m

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Where you getting that 8 million from when where in the championship?

Agree2 Disagree6

Parachute Payments o:)

Agree1 Disagree5

Sinclair cost 6.5 mill and Lescott was brought for 16 mill. No way will Man City let them BOTH leave for 8 mill!

Agree3 Disagree2

Well, Lescott' s supposedly going for 4m, and Sinclair can't be worth more than 6 so maybe 10m is the max we would pay for both

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Mar 2013 10:47:21
News coming from villa park that one of our players will be making the trip to norwich, however its not weimann, sources can confirm that norwich have made an enquiry for barry bannan and are willing to pay up to £9m for his services

Believable2 Unbelievable12

They can have him for 9 million! VTID

Agree14 Disagree1

Did you read it correctly?
Have you put an additional nought on the valuation?
Mendax

Agree6 Disagree1

Crap for 9m I will drive him there free of charge

Agree11 Disagree1

. mate but I think you have crossed wires, norwich won't pay 1million for that class of player

Agree6 Disagree5

Sarcasm doesn't really come off over the internet, its more believable than half of the rubbish norwich fans make up though!

Agree10 Disagree1

9m is bannans registered worth as forrest were told they had to pay 9m to get him in january

Agree2 Disagree6

I can only assume you mean 9 million pence?

Agree5 Disagree1

Norwich fan here. Aaaaaaa! Honestly wouldn't have him for half a million. Light weight in midfield and doesn't do much. Whoever posted this rumour. Leave it out!

Agree3 Disagree2

BB is improving vastly recently as he's cut out his Hollywood passing techniques. Same with Delph really, get a lot of criticism but aren't actually too bad players!

Agree4 Disagree3

Norwich Fan here, Can't see Norwich or Villa doing any kind of deals as long as Lambert is in charge, No not bitter but the man has shot his lot with McNally, who is as hard as nails when it comes to bearing grudges

Agree0 Disagree4

Norwich fan here - Bannan is a decent player but too much of a drama queen for Hughton. For 9 mill I would be embarrassed if we got him!

Agree1 Disagree2

Bannan is shocking defensively but give him a couple of years and he'll be running the shop attacking wise

Agree0 Disagree3

I think i'd have a leavining do if he left for that, he's worth about 1.2 million poun. pence

Agree1 Disagree0

Possible ins in summer:

Lescott £4 mil
Haangaland free
Flamini free
Nathan dyer £5 mil
Saviola £3 mil

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Too old,, too old,, too old,, not good enough,, too old.

Agree11 Disagree3

Lescot and hangland to old and not good enough

erh ok 1 is a england regular in defence and the other has been 1 of the highest rated defenders in the prem for the last 5 years and both very capable the only question is can we afford them

Agree9 Disagree3

But there too old! Yes he may have been regarded as one if the best defenders in the bpl in the last 5 years but I doubt he'll have the same honour in the next 5 at all

Agree5 Disagree1

I would only want lescott. Hangeland is to slow now and is injury prone.

Agree3 Disagree1

Hangeland is a free transfer in the summer

Agree4 Disagree2

Newcastle and Aston Villa are ready to rival Everton for Joleon Lescott this summer

The Manchester City and England defender has been told he can leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer for around £4million as the Blues embark on another wave of transfer spending.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

24 Mar 2013 08:59:31
Aston Villa are rumoured to be interested in signing Fulham defender Brede Hangeland

Hangeland's current deal expires this summer and he is yet to agree a new deal at Craven Cottage.

24 Mar 2013 08:57:27
With Weimnan's agent stating he may leave in the summer with Liverpool and borussia dortmund being the latest teams interested in him

Aston Villa are lining up a summer move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper, according to reports.

The Sunday People claims Villa are looking to capitalise on the Englishman's contract situation by making a bid in the off-season.

Hooper has been a regular scorer for the Bhoys since joining from Scunthorpe United in 2010, netting 77 times in 129 appearances. {Ed002's Note - You can add interest from Inter Milan who see him as a cheaper alternative to their planned loan-to-buy deal for Sanchez. Aston Villa will continue to seek a new deal.}

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Andi will be at Villa Park next season.
Him & Benteke will become stars at Villa & will leave next summer if we don't finish in a European place.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Mar 2013 22:52:08
Villa are believed to be one of several teams looking to take Ryan Shotton on a free transfer come the end of the season.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Hate him.
Afro kid who looks weird.

Agree7 Disagree3

He's powerful, big and fast oh and has the delap throw and scores goals can't see stoke letting him go but would be good for us

Agree5 Disagree7

He's terrible!

Agree12 Disagree2

23 Mar 2013 22:22:40
Villa have been linked with a move for highky rated centre half Brede Hangeland from fulham the defender is out of contract and villa are prepared to offer him a very good deal that he can't turn down

Believable4 Unbelievable5

23 Mar 2013 18:26:33
Benteke set for arsenal? You mean the team like all the others who wernt prepared to take a chance on him! The only way benteke leaves is IF we get relegated and need the money otherwise he will stay another year and go for 20 mil which is just good business.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

23 Mar 2013 06:25:41
Benteke set for Arsenal, the club he meant to join in the first place

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Even though he's just bought himself a new Villa suit case with his name on it & a new house in Solihull?

Bit strange that!

Agree9 Disagree5

Fair enough house, but suitcase? Not sure that means much mate haha

Agree9 Disagree4

Benteke set for Arsenal, the club he meant to join in the first place

21 Mar 2013 15:49:55
Paul Lambert could be poised to make a summer move for highly-rated Crewe midfielder Luke Murphy after watching him in action recently.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Weimann to Norwich?
Because that would really be a tempting step up for the boy
Oh no, that's right. Apparently we are raising funds for our raid on Tottenham for Bale
Mendax

Agree4 Disagree3

Weimann will stay its just paper talk. And anyway they are signing wolfswinkle from Lisbon. Sinclair would be a bit of a risk but I would be willing to do it. Also hangeland is out of contract in the summer. Surely a 3 year contract can't be a big ask

Agree7 Disagree3

Indeed it is tempting if he wants to stay in the prem. another aspect would be quality of life, who wants to bring up a young family in the horrible city of Birmingham recent headlines being taken into consideration. So yes VERY tempting.

Agree0 Disagree8

A very distasteful point of reference to use in a chat about a football non transfer. I hope on reflection you are suitably embarrassed mate. you should be
Mendax

Agree8 Disagree1

Not at all, it is fact that it is a horrible part if the country for various reasons. mate

Agree2 Disagree4

The fact that people of your mentality live there would suggest that East Anglia is no kind of idyll. I hope that when you become an adult (I assume I am talking to someone under the age of 11) you will be less ignorant and show a little humility when your lack of judgement is pointed out to you.
Lastly, how much time have you spent in Birmingham exactly?
I thought so, never been there.
Mendax

Agree7 Disagree2

Most of the villa players live in knowle mate, one of the nicest places in the country. Just because he plays in birmingham it doesn't mean he's being raised on the streets of allum rock carrying knives! I know for a fact i'd rather live in knowle than on one of deliahs farms

Agree6 Disagree0

Most villa players actually live in Streetly/Sutton Coldfield.

Agree5 Disagree1

21 Mar 2013 10:54:10
Villa linked with signing Scott Sinclair from Man city as he's become disillusioned with the Man city fairy tale only having 2 apps all season at the moment it's between Villa and Everton for his signature.

Also weinman linked with Spurs, Aresnal, Norwich and Inter Milan

Believable10 Unbelievable4

15 Mar 2013 00:45:20
Ben Reeves currently on loan at Southend Utd is apparently a target for Lambert next season along with German international Christian Trasch.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Ben Reeves looks about as lightweight as Joe Bennett so this rumour is prob true going by Lambert

Agree7 Disagree3

Bennett is good with the ball he just can't defend for toffee. Play him lm and he will be decent.

Agree14 Disagree4

The fact is with Bennett is that he is thick and makes poor decisions in possession
It will take a helluva lot of coaching to get that out of his system
We can't afford to play the guy. I would rather have Lichaj at left back
Mendax

Agree12 Disagree7

I'd rather have Clark at left back as he's got more agility than Baker.

Agree3 Disagree1

Id rather have Baker next to roncrete any day he's more consistant than Clark as Clark makes stupid errors along with Bennett.

I actually prefer to see Clark in midfield he played well there for Mcleish

Agree7 Disagree2

11 Mar 2013 23:08:55
Icelander Alfreo Finnbogason being linked, decent record for Heerenveen!

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Looks to be a decent prospect

Agree7 Disagree3

Been linked a million times in the past. Would prefer Wilfried Bony.

Agree10 Disagree8

11 Mar 2013 05:09:38
Aston villa are heavily linked with a move for former real madrid and chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra.
The highly rated midfielder will complete he's move in the summer in a £8m deal.

Believable8 Unbelievable16

Wont happen lambert only likes kids and he`s too old for lamberts thinkin of where he wants the club to go plus he`ll want silly wages!!1

Agree15 Disagree5

Not a chance

Sulla looks like a player, but Weiman is starting to believe his own hype, at least 2 chances he should of buried. Need a big push till the end of the season now.
AGD

Believable15 Unbelievable6

He looked out of his depth, against reading on numerouse occasions let a midfielder run straight past him in the villa area not switched on enough defensively at the moment he could get there more work needed in training first.

Agree0 Disagree14

Sylla was great, put his foot in, and fought for everything he could. Yes, he needs work, but could have found another gem

Agree19 Disagree3

Aston villa fc possible summer signins if they avoid the drop

Lassana Diarra- £8m
Andre Pierre Gignac-£8m
Adil Rami- 10m
Martin Vingaard-£2m
Madjid Bougherra- £3m
Daniel Schwaab-£4.5m
Troy Deeney- £3m

Possible outs-

Darren Bent- £15m
Charles N' Zogbia - £12m
Christian Benteke - £18m
Ciaran Clark -£3m
Mark Albrighton- £3m
Stephen Ireland- free
3m

Believable7 Unbelievable18

N'Zog, Bentekkers, Clark & Albrighton won't be leaving.
Bent, Ireland, Dunne, Given will be as more wage cost cutting.
I take it you have no idea!

Agree12 Disagree5

If we stay up add more youth imo. 4-5 more players would be great and will have the young lads chomping at the bit for first team football

Agree7 Disagree4

£3m for Clark? You are having a laugh. £3 is more likely. A mistake waiting to happen, more errors in defence than the rest of the team.

Agree9 Disagree11

Clark would cost way more than 3 m

Agree6 Disagree13

Make believe. troy deeney is out of contract - all fees made up or dragged from your football manager game

Agree7 Disagree2

Is this the same deeney who signed a new contract last year?

Agree8 Disagree1

Yeh, good theory but not sure were going to get 15 mill for bent strange as it seems. c'mon let's get real; 8 mil max for bent, 8 mill for nzog 15 mil for benteke the rest are okay. Sorry but I don't want us to get our hopes up too much

Agree3 Disagree1

Don't care if Benteke stays or goes.

Aston villa will make a a £7m bid to lure lassana diarra back to the premiership once the transfer window opens The definsive midfielder is currently at russian club anzhi and is unsettled.

Believable13 Unbelievable17

Cant see this happening not in lamberts age range

Agree12 Disagree7

Love the player can't see it though

Agree16 Disagree2

Where did this rumor start?? he`s about 7 years too old for lambert! he's looking for kids not oap1s in football ages

Agree5 Disagree1

Lassana Diarra to old? He's 27 lol. PL has already said he needs to add experience! You p**nk
