Antonio luna to return to spain for a minimal fee towards the end of transfer window

Believable14 Unbelievable6

What about arron Cresswell Ipswich

Agree10 Disagree5

Don't believe this for one second about luna, not because he's an outstanding player or anything but because Lambert wouldn't leave us with Bennett. So complete rubbish again!

Agree2 Disagree13

West brom are all over Cresswell mate

Agree4 Disagree8

Cresswell has signed for west ham

Darren bent has agreed terms with fenerbache undisclosed fee to be completed by friday

Believable12 Unbelievable15

Hopefully funds we raise can improve the squad,

Agree5 Disagree5

How much do you think we're going to get for him exactly?
And with those penny's who would you bring/beg to come to us?

Agree6 Disagree5

Surely Bent will be leaving on a free or at best a nominal fee (2/3m).

His 9 goals on 16 games that kept us up under Houllier should be rememebered. Has always been a goal threat but was never the team player that McLeish or PL wanted.

Agree15 Disagree1

Heard it's trabzonspor but either way he's gone.
Finch

Agree6 Disagree3

Bent's going for 4.4mill

Agree6 Disagree9

Has bent gone yet?

Agree2 Disagree3

Soa loss of 20 million on one player only the club selling the best players around him show that losing our best to your man utd's of the world yorke, bosnich young etc is no way to ensure improvement can be sustained, pathetic, no wonderthe playing side is such a shambles, tonev luna is it?best not doing ANY business at all? we are crap at it

Agree6 Disagree0

Mybe stick to what we did/didn't do in the winter window and ignore some of the sheer fantasy postings had recently

roy keane to be unveiled as villa assistant this afternoon

Believable16 Unbelievable5

Bit concerning that the biggest signing we make this summer will be the assistant manager - please prove me wrong.

Agree9 Disagree4

I think that may be the case it's really sad that the fourth most successful club in the country has declined like the way it had

Agree12 Disagree4

So, we have offically abandoned all morals.

This man should have been banned from being anywhere near football for life (not to mention thrown in jail) for his pre meditated assault on alfe inge haaland

Agree5 Disagree17

Told you the other day, we are going to have things happen this week now we are out of the world cup. Keane signed, check, two up and coming players signed on 2 year deals, check. As I said last week more information about who is going to buy us and 2 new signings on the way!

Agree9 Disagree14

Keane is a great addition to the villa, he will offer so much off the field and yes he has a short fuse but that urrent crop of players lack passion and I am sure keane will instill that passion to this squad. on wards and upwards VTID hon the villa

Agree12 Disagree7

I don't see why there is a negativity surrounding Keane, Great addition, lifts our profile as a club, he speaks with passion, welcome to our great club Keano!

Agree15 Disagree6

To the guy who is claiming Nostrodamus status.
You actually said we'd be signing 2 "new players" this week.
And, you've still not explained the connection to the world cup exit.

Agree8 Disagree10

It is only Tuesday!

Agree1 Disagree5

So they sacked culverhouse for bullying players yet we are replacing him with roy keane. that's like replacing luis suarez with mike tyson.

Agree6 Disagree7

What. we're signing mike tyson?

Agree2 Disagree4

I have heard that now that England are out of the World Cup - Villa will be offering more information about the sale and future transfers. I think you will see Keane and 2 new signings next week.

Believable10 Unbelievable21

Not sure what the connection is between England being out of the WC and the Villa takeover but we'll see.

Agree16 Disagree6

What on earth does England being eliminated from the World Cup have to do with what is or is not being announced about what is happening at Villa?
I completely fail to see the connection.
Clarrie.

Agree17 Disagree4

We will hear more when USA are out

Agree8 Disagree12

Most likely means all the rubbish players are home now so we can see which ones we ll be linked with and dare say sign none of em

Agree14 Disagree1

I think some posters just look at the alphabet and randomly put vowels and consonants together for a laugh.
Either that or someone has left a particularly dextrous monkey in a room with a scrabble set and a computer
The result is the same

Agree8 Disagree4

On another note, the story I read in yesterdays paper just about takes the biscuit.
A Uruguayan footballer bites an Italian footballer in a World Cup game being played in Brazil and the Uruguayan government, football association and media blame Britain.
You couldn't make it up.
Clarrie.

Agree15 Disagree3

We will not hear anything about a takeover until it is done and sealed, as we are no longer a public company, only randy Lerner him self knows, and he has always played things close to his chest. Also there is money available but it's not astronomical, so unless the right player becomes available don't expect anything other than frees and loans

Agree10 Disagree2

Hearing the same things. July the 1st or 2nd to be accurate.
Finch

Agree5 Disagree10

Ronny Rodelin is set to join new recruits Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos this season at Villa, not much talk on what fee? but expected to go through next week.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

Who? Is this Jordan Bowery's French cousin? There was I thinking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but oh dear. Rodders

Agree9 Disagree8

He has scored a massive 5 goals on over 50 games for his current club. Surely he will set the VP faithful on fire with figures like that. Oh yeah and he is 6ft 4 anyone else fancy long ball football next year. West ham in disguise I can hear it already. Gareth

Agree10 Disagree7

Simon cowell wants a piece of the villa sale- at least the half timebreak may be a better watch than the game

Danny ings? Really excited about that if its true. NOT. Another standard championship player at best. great. Fordy.

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Danny Ings would be a quality aquisition but sadly we have no chance of getting him. Future England star

Agree11 Disagree9

No, forget it. He's not good enough for Aston Villa. Besides it won't happen under Lerner's ownership.

Agree6 Disagree12

A young player who has just had a great goalscoring season in a successul side? If true, not going to cost the earth and therefore nota bad shout.

People saying ' not under Lerner's ownership' are forgetting money generated from TV etc last season (60m), surely this is available as Lerner has made it clear he will not be taking funds out of the club to repay his loans hence the 200m initial sale fee

Agree6 Disagree4

Then why have we Sendross and old king Cole

Close friend works at villa and says we are close to signing danny ings from Burnley. Don't know who is paying for him.

Believable3 Unbelievable17

It would be better if Villa signed Bendtner, because he has Premier League experience, and he is a free agent at the moment. I believe that Ings would be worse compared to Bendtner. Besides Villa can't sign Ings at the moment.

If Villa sign Bendtner, Villa will be a stronger team. He is a decent goalscorer 43 goals in the Premier League and 36 goals for his national team. For me that is a striker who is improving and who will score more goals.

Agree6 Disagree21

Bendtner? U make me laugh.

Agree14 Disagree4

Are you trying to tell me that Ings is a better option than Bendtner?

Bendtner is a free agent at the moment, and he has experience, having played for Arsenal, Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus. He has also experience playing for his national team. We can only afford signing players on free transfers right now, so what more can you ask for in this transfer window?

Ings is a Championship player at best, and Villa can only loan him at the moment.
Bendtner is still a better option here.

Agree6 Disagree8

How is danny ings not better then bentner infact he's better then all our strikers bar benteke i'm not saying chamionship goals make u an instant prem player but the lads a class act i'd be suprised if he came villa though well out of our league

Villa set to sign Iranian World Cup duo Akshan Dejagah forward/winger and Jallal Hosseini defender after impressing lamb during the group stage

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Where'd you hear this we won't be making any transfers (unless they're free transfers) until and IF we have a buyer

Agree10 Disagree6

People need to realise, randy is going to give money but not stupid money. he is not stupid enough to think we will survive next season without some investment. annoying people saying all the time we can't buy anyone. stop and think for a second!

Agree10 Disagree9

No investment means relegation by Christmas

Agree8 Disagree15

As stated in papers there is £10 mil available for funds other than that it will be frees

Adnan Januzaj to Villa on a season long loan - done deal after world cup.
Chicharito also on his way to Villa Park depending on personal terms, in a deal involving Ron Vlaar.

Believable10 Unbelievable31

Laughable. Utd need januzaj now and he will be starting most games for them next season.

Agree17 Disagree15

No way januzaj will be in the starting line up next season man u are spending 200 mill on players. But januzaj will probably go to a team like Everton on loan.

Agree20 Disagree8

Once again these are lies. Both players won't come to Villa, I'm certain. Besides I don't want them at Villa, since they will demand a pay rise and they don't like Villa. I would keep Vlaar. From what I've seen, he is doing very well at the World Cup.

Agree9 Disagree7

I would take both players in a heartbeat, but it won't happen. There is no way they will let Januzaj out of their sight, and certainly won't entrust his development to our coaches, who have managed to develop our young players into the superstars they are today (i. e. Clarke, Baker, Agbonlahor, Delfounso, Herd, Albrighton, Wiemann, Gardner etc and those are the ones that "made it"!). I think Chicharito would be about our level should we get taken over and have cash to burn, but not going to happen in the short term.

Agree9 Disagree5

I believe Valar will go to Manchester United for 10mil.
Ashley young on season loan and 5 mil Wilfred zarah

Agree3 Disagree16

Zaha has proven he is NOT premier league quality, utd didn't even use him much with the reserves no need for anyone elses failures we've enough of our own

Heard that the owners of Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils are interested in doing a deal with Randy Lerner

Believable16 Unbelievable15

Rumours are killers

Agree14 Disagree6

We just have to wait and see if it's paper talk

Agree11 Disagree4

A newspaper suggesting talks are ongoing and they rarely commit to anything unless there is some truth in the matter. Both financially equipped and have interests in other sporting teams.

Agree4 Disagree6

This is the most concrete story we have had, so let's hope it doesn't drag on to long, as we need some quality brought in

Agree3 Disagree6

In what way is this more concrete than any of the other rumours?

Agree3 Disagree7

This is just talk, want happen before the start of the season

Agree6 Disagree5

What is really going on at villa?do we just have to wait and then moan because the deal (if there ever is one)comes too late for serious plunges into the transfer market? We, the heartbeat of the club deserve more respect in club detailsthan we are getting if we have ANOTHER season like the last four or five, and more people will exercise their right to vote with their feet, what price a take over then?stop reating us like kids villa we're not stupid, we will see through you

According to Sport Witness Aston Villa and Leeds have been given green light to sign the Brazilian striker Jefferson on a free transfer. I'm hopeful that Villa will get him first, would be a good signing. Any thoughts, lads?

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Never heard of him

Agree8 Disagree3

Was at florentina never played a game for them been on loan at three or four clubs been playing in serie b so can't see him been prolific in premiership. why are top Italian clubs after him if he's any good, just because his Brazilian doesn't make him good.

Agree13 Disagree4

Is this really what we have come down to - signing players from the Italian Second Division?
If this bloke was any good surely someone of a higher standard would have signed him originally.
I reckon even Bosco Balaban could have scored goals in the Italian Second Division.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree16 Disagree2

Don't forget people, who had heard of Christian Benteke?

Agree15 Disagree4

Shame on you Clarrie
Did you not realise that all a player has to do to improve immeasurably is to sign for Villa?
Senderos, having been useless his whole career is set to become the defensive colossus we have been craving
Joe Cole, despite a poor, injury laden 5 years is set to enjoy an Indian summer to his career and become a Pierlo type fulcrum to our midfield. If you listen to some of the posts on here of late that is
This Brazilian will be the new Ronaldo

Agree15 Disagree7

So sad but true

Agree10 Disagree2

Come on Mendax.
Some fans on here are just hoping Senderos and cole might just give us a little bit of stability on and off the pitch, me included.

They/we are only thinking maybe, not stating a fact.

Villadave

Agree10 Disagree3

I had heard of Benteke, by virtue of watching international football. He was already a Belgium International player when he came.

Agree4 Disagree6

Of course Dave, not all are taking the "being positive" angle to the extremes I am intimating (I was partly joking by the way)
But, let's be honest. If this story is true (the lower league Brazilian striker) we are in an even worse place than those like Clarrie and I thought we were
Just venting my frustration on here mate

Aston Villa are still set for a August takeover The Roy Keane deal has hit a snag due the takeover, Roy is seeking assurances that there will still be a job once the takeover is complete. Paul Lambert is currently being given at least 12 months after the takeover to turn things around. We are also are in discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over Lewis Holtby and Nacer Chadli for £13millon once our takeover is complete.
Holtby admires Lambert and has been quoted as saying he learnt a lot from watching him. Lambert has also made no secret of the fact
of admiring chadli previously and more recently saying Holtby is the kind of players he wants in. Ryan Bertand is somebody else who when the takeover is completed could sign permanently expect a £5 million deal. There will be another £22 million to spend expect this to be spent on 2 players of 'experienced youth' unsure yet of names but will keep you all posted

Believable19 Unbelievable31

Actually makes sense. fingers crossed.

Agree11 Disagree12

Here's hoping be happy with all the above UTV

Agree6 Disagree5

Who is meant to be buying Villa in August?

Agree5 Disagree8

Are we trying to get as many awful left backs as possible.

Agree8 Disagree7

I can see this happening to be honest thought from day 1 when we were put up for sale that the deal would be sorted before the start of the season. Them signings would make sense as well if the takeover was to be complete. I think it will happen.

Agree1 Disagree4

Micky Arison is currently negotiating the fine print on the takeover, the reason for the completion being August is due to pre season being in July. Lambert (and hopefully keane) will be able to assess the team at there disposal, Lambert has already met with Arison when he went to America he made his points on the club and Arison was extremely impressed with the case he put across for his vision of Aston Villa which in all fairness I myself believe in, he has had to put up with championship funds whilst trying to manage a team the size of Villa, a lesser manage would of left by now.
The bomb squad will be asked to pull their finger out during pre season, but if they haven't and nobody has came forward to buy them they will have their contracts brought out.
Clark and potentially Baker are expected to be sent out on loan for 6 months initially with Okore, Vlaar and Senderos providing enough cover. Vlaar has also in prinicipal agreed a new 4 year contract which will be signed when he returns to Villa Park.
Fabian Delph is also expected to sign a new 4 year deal this is to be signed once the takeover is complete.
Agbonlahor is expected to agree a new deal also (not very exciting) he will also be told that next season he is a guaranteed starter.

Agree7 Disagree24

Vlaar going to Manchester United senderos got his squad number on sky.

Agree4 Disagree20

How can new deals be agreed when a block as been put in place till sale of club as gone though? and I would think vlaar will be gone once he returns from WC.

Agree4 Disagree9

Squad numbers not decided yet

Agree6 Disagree4

The deals have all been agreed with Arison's approval, knowing that Delph, Vlaar and Gabby are not only huge fan favourites they are also valuable assets, however until the ink is dry on the takeover nobody can actually sign anything. Vlaar quite clearly stated at the end of last season he wants to win trophies with Villa that isn't something that he would come out and say if he had other plans which he will of no doubt discussed with LVG, who
has been his national coach for a fair amount of time, 1 or 2 games will not make him suddenly re consider Vlaar for Man Utd.

Agree10 Disagree10

TV reporting ki deal with Swansea almost done only problem being swans want him to stay in yaki dah land with the rest of the population who wish they were born english

sorry people my source at Aston Villa says Villa have pulled out the lescot deal now as hull have made him a better offer so much for him being a villa fan also villa are back in for ryan again on loan from chelsea for the 2nd time.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Why are you sorry? disappointed? don't be, would have been an awful signing, big time charlie who cares only about money and isn't any better a defender than vlaar and okore only he'd demand double what they're on, greedy and useless, so glad he ain't joining us and hope we never have to resort to such measures

Agree7 Disagree8

Mike12345, Lescott would never sign for us anyway because of way HE HAD to move out midlands after having his knee's shattered by Johnson Brothers when he was at Wolves, he moved to Everton when he could play again. Matt Murray never recovered.
He been warned never play his football or live perm in West Midlands again.
So Lescott to Villa was never going to happen

Agree14 Disagree8

That's crazy about lescott. I thought he moved to a prem club because he did really well at wolves.

Agree4 Disagree6

Okore is going to be outstanding, watch this space.

Agree9 Disagree3

So how come he's going to west brom now then mike12345?

Agree4 Disagree8

Sorry mike12345 it was aimed at the person who never signed off

Agree0 Disagree7

Whoever put The story about lescott and Murray is totally true. Silverfox

Agree11 Disagree3

The story may well be true, but if he goes to west brom then that's not the reason he won't be coming to villa, that's what I was getting at.

Agree1 Disagree9

The Murray & Lescott rumours are true I doubt he will go to West Brom Albion

Agree12 Disagree3

He's in advanced negotiations with west brom irvine has confirmed this

Agree3 Disagree7

So Lescott is having a medical at West Brom, so the rumour/story true or not has no bearing on whether or not he would of come to Villa or not, it will have been purely down to wages not because he cannot live/play football in the midlands again as I do believe that's where West Brom ply their trade, I rest my case.

Agree3 Disagree9

Haha it makes me chuckle how people on here can disagree with facts there's no wonder half of you expect so much when a clear dose of reality is needed in your lives haha

Agree1 Disagree17

Benteke to chelsea? says who? he won't be passing a medical with anyone anytime soon that's for sure!

I'm a villa fan, live in Leicester, but been a season ticket holder over 30 years.
I don't normally go along with all the rumours, and gossip spreading, as it just builds hopes up, but with villa, last few years, those hopes get smashed fairly quickly!
However, I have a good friend who works in security at villa for players, and board members.
Months ago, thought he was winding me up, he told me Ellison, and arison where buying villa.
He told me as a good will gesture, down payment and to keep out press, Ellison gave Lerner £35m.
Apparently the deal will be through by august 1st.
Lambert is to remain in charge, at least until January, as both see instant massive change as detriment, they believe it will be a slow process.
All this is from a friends mouth, who I do believe and trust, but you know how gossip works!.
He also believes talk of £200m investment in playing staff, and facilities.
Hope all is true! Either way, up the villa, and all have a great summer!
Flackie

Believable26 Unbelievable16

If we really were going to be taken over by Ellison and invest £200m, what is with the free signings and Sanderos?

Not happening!

Agree13 Disagree17

We all live in hope, because at the moment we can only sign frees, we can't even sign loan players as that involves a fee, which Lerner won't sanction.

Agree11 Disagree11

So anyone on the planet who has not denied an interest as as likely as Mr Arrison?
That's a lot of "potential" buyers including you

Latest on the take over front, there are 3 new potential owners, one of whom is Micky Arison he had previously planned to buy the club as a partnership with Larry Ellison. It now appears Ellison has cold feet, Arison however is continuing ahead, in 2014 he has sold close to £200 million of assets and still has approximately £35 million worth of shares still for sale. The deal is expected to be completed around 1st Aug this gives Lambert and Keane, who will take the no. 2 role in the next week, this will allow time to properly assess the squad with a month left in which to bring in players. Miami Heat play their last game 16/06/2014 once the season ends and his current interests are dealt with Arison will make a bid.
I did post the same thing 3 days ago however it was taken down?

Mickey Arison continues to sell shares to fund his bid for the Villa.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

He is selling shares in Carnival.
They have had some truly horrendous PR disasters in recent years. Hardly surprising then that a major investor is looking to get out (once the hullabaloo has died down and the share value has recovered a bit)

Wellbeck & Zaha both being considered irrespective of club sale due to definitive resale value.

Cole to battle Zaha for AM role.

Also rumours are afoot that the club has written to players stating if they are not 100% behind the club during this transitional presale and post sale period then to make it known.

Believable3 Unbelievable21

Cole stated main reason for joining was that he'd get played CM NOT AM

Agree11 Disagree8

I think its widely known that while Cole may define his role as CM, everyone knows it will be as a AM where he wil get more involved.

Im sure he said in an interview 'central attacking role'

Agree9 Disagree2

Wellbeck? Not in Villas wildest dreams would that happen. Regretably I might add.

Would be a great signing if it comes out, wonder if benteke will stay though? if not definitely need a finisher.
all these free transfers though does that mean there's no money, cheap expirence or a deal is done to new owner so is learner is not bothering to spend anymore needlessly?
VillaPope

Agree7 Disagree7

Scrooge must go! More free's to arrive as PL has nothing to spend. All the rumours about new owners are pure wish lists by posters. Until Scrooge realises that he is responsible for the dire situation at VP due to the miserly funding of PL and the ridiculous idealism that a team of untried lower league players could be moulded into a top 6 team, then reduce the asking price, we will be stuck with the yanker. He is not going to get what he is asking for even after knocking off £50m as a new owner knows that an investment of £200m+ wil be required to move our AVFC forward. Scrooge gave us a super stadium but failed to support the manager. Go home Scrooge and don't come back, ever.

Joe Cole is on villas radar and a deal is said to be close. He is a free agent and wages no prob.

Believable20 Unbelievable10

As long as he can stay fit this is a good signing, can pick a pass and beat a player

Agree12 Disagree7

Congratulations kingy! the first 1 you have ever got right, wonders never cease! this is a quality signing in all regards, brings a wealth of experience at club and international level, is just the type of player we are crying out for with flair and creativity in abundance. This is good work by Lambert. Let's just hope he stays fit!

Agree18 Disagree8

To be honest he is better than Wea Hoolahan and he has experience. If he can stay fit and N'Zogbia is brought into the team we could do alright.

Agree12 Disagree7

The key to this one is if he can stay fit. Always seems to be injured but I still think its a step in the right direction in terms of adding experience and addressing the areas we need to strengthen and improve. There is obvious talent and class in cole and he's worth a go on a free. Fair play to lambert for doing a decent job in being able to add to the squad with such uncertainty hanging over us.

Agree11 Disagree7

7/8 years ago this would have been a good signing, but he is so far past his best its not funny. He has averaged 15 appearances over the last 2 years. Before that he was very poor at Liverpool, playing with attacking players significantly better than our lot. West Ham are crying out for attacking players, and they don't even want to keep him! He might be better the Hoolahan, but that really isn't saying much.

Agree10 Disagree12

Don't right him off could be signing of the season if he stays fit

Agree13 Disagree8

Someone make it stop, please

Agree12 Disagree7

Theres a difference between experienced and past their best

Agree12 Disagree8

I know he's not at his peak, and is injury prone, but at least give him a chance

Agree9 Disagree3

One of the best english players of the last 20 years, so often played out of position in the past, why WH didn't want to keep him is a bit worrying but still think he can open some much needed doors for us, i'd take Cole over Hollahands any day!

Agree6 Disagree5

Very well said. seen a few places that the reason he decided to join was because lambert said he would play CM. Good signing, remember everyone. Form is temporary, Class is permanent.

He can't score behind the midfield that includes Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Schurlle
What chances would he have with KEA, Delph and Westwood loaded the bullets for him?
He'd probably end up as the first ever striker with a minus figure for goals scored at the end of a season.

Apparently, Roy Keane was spotted at the Southampton game (the penultimate home game), and had agreed to join as an assistant manager. This was when Lerner already had a buyer lined up, and the deal was relatively close. When the talks stalled, the appointment was 'postponed', so maybe his appointment means the takeover is back on?

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Close friend to mine sits in directors and said last night the deal was all but done, just got to be put on paper and rumor has it should be done in 2 weeks assuming no holdups occur!
VillaPope

Agree2 Disagree3

The takeover, and no the name is being kept under tabs annoyingly, tried to get as much info as I could, but all that's being said is the deal has been verbally agreed, it could still fall through nothing is 100% until pen is put to paper and that may still take a while longer.

I have recently received some news regarding the situation at the villa. There are 4 interested parties in the club, nothing is yet finalised due to the debts the club currently have, Lerner himself is one of those villa are in debt too, the potential owners are haggling that if they buy the club Lerner's debt is to be written off, penny pincher Lerner is having none of that.
'This is also the reason he has Slashed 50 million off the club'
The new owners aren't in any rush to buy the club, knowing that the sooner they buy the sooner they spend. Expect a deal around Aigist 1st to be finalised

Believable6 Unbelievable14

Bit harsh to refer to him as a penny pincher with all the money he has put into the the playing staff and training ground over the years. Not too mention his 100m loan to the club which is outstanding. Yes he has turned the tap off over the last few years but as a whole over his period at the club he has sunk a massive sum into us

Agree17 Disagree4

Scrooge will hold out for every penny regardless of our AVFC. His purse is rusted up and needs wd40 to release it. The sooner he goes the better. I just wish we could have a whip round to get him a leaving present!

Agree3 Disagree16

Villapuppet.

Why would you say that learner has slashed 50mil of the price for Villa.
which we all Know about, and then call him a penny pincher??
A bit miffed mate.

Villadave

Agree11 Disagree4

I refer to him as a penny pincher due to the fact the club also owes him 100mil which he wanted on top of the £200 mil original asking price, now the price is £150 mil plus £100 mil debt.
Villa also have their eye on tom ince the developments. The torres rumours are actually true like Ferdinand however this is simply an initial enquiry as to availability
Roy keane will be confirmed Monday. Jason Dodd and Paul Williams from the saints academy are also expected to join by end of week to replace culverhouse and karsa

Agree2 Disagree8

Love that someone wanting a £100m loan back is a penny pincher. i'm sure if u loaned someone £100 ud be sure to ask for it back o pretty sure Lerner well within his rights. Although I had geard ge gad written off the clubs debt to him which would be an amazing thing to do. Poor bloke lost millions on Villa. Give him a break

Agree11 Disagree2

I will follow your info very carefully. Only hope that are not pulling our strings.

Agree0 Disagree6

I can understand Learner wanting some money back but we can't stand up and say he was great ploughing his millions in if he wants them back!

Agree6 Disagree2

The fact is Lerner didn't make these terms clear from the start, The debt of £100 million means Lerner still has a say, and quite a big one considering the club is for sale at only £50 million more, Lerner could potentially convert these into shares which is again proving a sticking point These are the in's and out's of what is complex due to the circumstances still expect a deal to be finalised by 1st August. A figure for transfers is £15 million, Lambert is looking for a 2 defensive midfielders expect a 3-5-2 and a 3-3-3-1 formation to be our main formations. The club will offer new deals to both vlaar and delph once the takeover has been completed

Half way down the page - Micky Arison, back in the running for a rumoured takeover of Aston Villa.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

That would be nice. When typing 'micky' into google though the first name that came up was Mickey Mouse. Surely he's with a few bob!

Agree3 Disagree5

At it again jimbop. How many buyers have you named now. I think you are Kingvilla in disguise?

Agree9 Disagree3

If you follow the link it takes you to a story from the telegraph, this story says that both are interested of buying villa as a partnership. But once again we have to be patient

Agree2 Disagree10

Micky Arison has been selling his shares lately to fund an investment for Aston Villa with Larry Ellsion. Hopefully true we need some money.

Agree3 Disagree8

I really don't understand why a man who's worth 50 billion dollars would want to part own a prem club, why not just buy it on his own?

Slightly confusing to say the least

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree2

Going into a business with a partner is less of a risk and Ellison may be worth 50 billion but a lot of his money is reserved for charity.

Agree6 Disagree4

Oldvillan - if you remember, post on here on 8th april, I said we were for sale before any paper, also, the only name I've ever mentioned is Ellison, finally, if you don't want to read my comments then do 1.

Agree3 Disagree5

Surely if all this stuff is happening behind the scenes why can't they announce it very frustrating

Agree1 Disagree1

Micky arison has just received 45mil from shares sold all in the last week just after Lerner dropped the asking price! Could he be making a down payment on villa at the reduced price of 150mil? Let's hope so because he alone is worth a cool 6 billion dollars!

Agree2 Disagree3

Jimbop, thank you for the invite. However this is a site for accessing information, right or wrong, and we all have the right to question statements made. I think that several of your posts are questionable and one being correct does not represent a reliable source. Having said that, I do read your posts with great interest, but I would not place a bet on your rumours. Sorry that you don't like critical replies but that is the way of the world.

Senderos having a medical tomorrow. Whilst not quite the top notch centre back we hoped for it must be a good thing to get someone in with premier league, European and international experience on a free? A step up from baker and clark also I'd say. Good for the squad surely.

Believable20 Unbelievable10

I think someone said to Lambert "there is no way you could have a worse centreback than Baker or Clark"
Unfortunately, Lambert took it as a challenge.
The last time I was this disappointed at a signing was when we signed Heskey
Awful, awful, awful signing!

Agree13 Disagree18

Disagree, mendax. Experience has been lacking for a long time now so Senderos as a precautionary pre-takeover signing is nothing turn your nose up at.

Agree16 Disagree8

Did you ever see him play for Arsenal?
Plenty of experience, I agree
Unfortunately he never seemed to learn from it
Shocking player.
We deserve better than this

Agree10 Disagree12

I agree with Mendax. Senderos is just a liability. He might have experience but it doesn't mean he is going to be good.

Agree8 Disagree14

I think its a decent signing considering our needs, mendax. Will bring experience at the back when needed that we've been desperate for for a long time. Won't be on huge wages and no transfer fee, so financially makes sense to take him on. Hopefully he won't settle for being back up and can create competition with vlaar and okore also.

Agree13 Disagree6

As above, couldn't agree more under the circumstances.

Mendax - who you expecting through the front doors?

This is it until were sold. I know who i'd rather have and with respect, wouldn't be neither Baker or Clark. Too many goals concerned last season, time we tightened up.

Plus, with Roy Keane who'll be our best midfielder hopefully we can aim for a couple more places higher in the table or maybe even higher if the sale goes through?

Agree4 Disagree7

Roy Keane wouldn't play for villa, he's the assistant manager. As for senderos I don't see why people are moaning, he's only 29 so has plenty of years left and has international and high premier league experience. This is exactly what people wanted. All we need now is a solid CM like Scott Parker to partner Delph and Westwood and a natural winger like Ashley young

Agree8 Disagree5

There are better players available yet another panic signing eg holt, lescott or hangaland better players. yes bigger salaries but you get what you pay for. pay championship wages that's where we will end up

Agree9 Disagree5

We are on a budget so all options are considered but we unfortunatley will go for the cheapest fix eg sylla kea bennett tonev helinus ect ect

Agree5 Disagree2

Whilst we all had several issues with the personnel last season (and the one before, and the one before etc etc etc), if I had to pick one element of the team that terrified me, it was the defence. I actually think Senderos will provide that bit of grit and aggression that we instantly loose when (not if) concrete Ron is injured. If we can couple this signing with perhaps Lescott then the back four is probably sorted on a budget. Either way, it has to be better than Clark or Baker who in my opinion, were always seconds from a red card or giving away a penalty! Using the same lagic, I actually think Joey Barton would be another good two year signing. He's a bit like Robbie Savage - You hate him against you but you'd kind of like him playing for you! Turning a frown upside down - at least the "buy young" policy seems to be over. Youthful talent is a luxury we just can't afford right now, so I for one admire PL for admitting his mistake. Can you imagine MON EVER saying he was wrong? I think not.

Agree7 Disagree2

My answer to the question " who you expecting through the front doors" is simple :
"Someone better than we already have"
Surely that is the dominant criteria for any signing?
Senderos is a step down from what we have so what is the point?
I admire all of you guys who are putting a positive spin on things and I understand why you want to do it.
But ask yourself, if Senderos had signed for Albion, would you not be taking the mick? Just a little bit?
He's a dreadful signing and no amount of claret and blue tinted spectacles can make him anything other than that

Agree3 Disagree7

See what your saying about West brom mendex but at the same time I do think he is a complete step up to Clark or baker and will also give okore more time to become fully fit and not put him under pressure to get back to his best instantly, we have to remember it is going to take him a while to come back from such a bad injury, the same injury that ended gasgoines carear. As everyone has said he is an experienced head on every level of football i. e international, top of premier league, champions league etc. I think if west brom fans give it a thought they wouldn't be taking the mick much more

Agree5 Disagree1

As always in such matters, I genuinely hope I am wrong and that you are right mate

Agree3 Disagree2

Obviously we know its not the sort of signing we would hope for in an ideal world. he's not world class, far from it. I do also think it shows an important shift in lamberts transfer policy i. e not gambling on a kid untried at this level. So hopefully we can expect more of the same (but with more quality perhaps!) Its important to have depth in the squad and at the very least it gives us that.
Either way, he's a villa player now so we have to at least get behind him and give him a chance to prove himself.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think vlaar and okore will be the starters which I feel is solid enough and senderos will be back up if they are injured or cup games ect, all this fuss over him yet he may only get 5 games in the whole season, no one can predict the future so just support the team and hope everything gets sorted down there ASAP

You don't care who buys villa as long as they invest?

That's the most ignorant and stupid comment to come off this site, and that's saying a lot, because there's a lot of stupid comments on here, but your comment is far beyond anything I'd expect to come from a fan.

If Birmingham City, Portmouth, Blackburn, Coventry, Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham Forrest, Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham were more "picky" when selling to new owners then they'd still be in the prem or they would have been back in the prem a long time back.
Not to mention they would never have been on the verge of closure.

Lerner needs to get the right owners, not another Venky/Gaydemak type of owner who promise everything and only offer destruction an liquidation.

Denis Cheryshev, Russell Martin, Philippe Senderos and Victor Ibarbo all names starting to appear as possible targets.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

IBarbo is awesome of fifa14 Tall Strong Pace Powerful and you can always add a skill card, lol

Enuf fiction what we need is a Quality N0 10 to the standard of Omar Abdularaham we obviously can't afford him unless we get Larry or an Arab, decent wingers, Lescott as standby to Okore & Vlaar, Wellbeck in Gabby & Weiman out along with Sylla, Karim, Baker replaced by Sissoko Grealish Gardner. what say you villa folks?

Agree5 Disagree13

I personally would only want to see Ibarbo at Aston Villa. Martin is shocking, Senderos is even worse and cheryshev hasn't shown himself enough.

Agree7 Disagree5

Totally agree with the 'gabby and weimann out' notion, although wellbeck would not be my choice to replace either of them. sylla and KEA definitely need to go too. no to lescott thanks, not a good cb at all in my eyes, about as good (or bad, whichever way you view it!) as vlaar only he'd want at least 60k p/w and frankly there are many better, YOUNGER cbs that could come cheap.

Agree5 Disagree7

Vlaar was one of Villas best players last season and if it wasnt for him we would be playing championship football next season and i'm sure most Villa fans would agree with me

Agree8 Disagree4

Yes he was one of our better performers last season but does that make him a good player? no, it doesn't. the most shaky, least inspiring/influential captain we've ever seen! bring back mellberg I say, don't care how old he is, true hero!

Keane wasn't that much of a flop, he got sunderland back to the PL after smashing the championship (over 100 points) and was unfairly dismissed at ipswich (a poor championship side at the time) after a win percentage of just under 40%, which isn't amazing but there are bosses out there with much worse records.

Randy Lerner is going to slash the asking price by 50 mill as he struggles to find a buyer. Here comes the financial takeover no Phillipe Senderous.
