Rumours are circulating that Lazio are about to make an offer for Vlaar, the offer is expected to be around 7mil.
Also Middlesbrough are showing an interest in Lowton, not sure about how much.

I say JOG ON to Lazio.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

His representative has said there is no truth in lazio talk, once again all paper talk, they said they were unwilling to spend 7million euros on him, he will meet the rest of the team Saturday let's just see what happens, please don't believe everything you read in papers. There is always speculation in villa signing players, however the only speculation on the 3 we have signed was when they were having their medicals!!!

Agree5 Disagree4

I would not sell lowton to anyone. If lambert had of played him last season more he would have gone to the World Cup with England.

Agree10 Disagree19

I believe the Lowton to Boro is a loan offer

Agree5 Disagree10

Very polite.

Agree1 Disagree7

Lowton is not good enough!

You obviously didn't see him against chesterfield!
enough said.

Agree10 Disagree13

I don't know whether your "Lowton for England" proclamation says more about your poor judgement of players or the state of the England team
It's probably a bit of both

Agree11 Disagree12

I would say at one time the season before people were talking about lowton to arsenal. Then he is late for training by 10 minutes and is dropped from the team. For me lowton is the best right back we have at the club and in a good defence would only get better. He came from Sheffield United so it is a big step up for him.

Agree13 Disagree3

I've spent the last two years watching matt lowton play week in week out at VP, and maybe it was the previous year of watching alan hutton play but matt lowton is leagues past both hutton and bacuna in the wing back role. His crossing is now probably the best in the squad now Lambert has let albrighton leave, consistently a top performer from the team and yes he has defensive weaknesses but for a 24 year old he has a lot of potential as shown by arsenals interest in him after his first season. To let him go now would be a stupid as selling benteke to someone like Newcastle because his second season did not live up to his first. UTV

Agree14 Disagree5

A couple of years ago one of the ED's stated that Lowton and Westwood would both play for England. So we all get it wrong.

Agree8 Disagree4

Arsenal defenders.
Because they're the benchmark aren't they

Agree3 Disagree9

To whoever said Lowtons fans ob didn't see the Chesterfield game and has a load of dislikes for it. I am a massive Matt Lowtin fan. Thought he was our best player 2 years ago and couldn't understand y Lambert never played him last year. till I went to Chesterfield. The previous poster is spot on! He got skinned by lower league players time after time and his first touch was terrible. It was embarrassing.

Agree3 Disagree6

I think lowton could be one of PL better signing if so time was spent with him, he is not the greatest defender i've come acroos but is a good attacking full back, got to be better than "i don't know how to defend bacuna "

Agree5 Disagree4

I saw over10 games featuring grealish and carruthers and neither wereany good, sloppy and wasteful unableto beat their man and totally absent for vast periods of the games, neither are enough , for the first team, nor was young@sicknote gardener, who looked average at bestcompared to his crappy no good bluenose br

Hi people villa have made a enquiry on scot sinclair

Believable10 Unbelievable16

That's just tabloid talk

Agree9 Disagree3

God Almighty!!!!
Clarrie blue.

Agree5 Disagree7

Want happen, Sinclaire will go to another team due to lack of fund

Agree9 Disagree5

Is there ANYBODY on here who actually thinks signing HIM would be a good idea?? If there is - Give me strength!!
Clarrie blue.

Agree9 Disagree11

Have just been listening to our defeat at Chesterfieldtonight. Admittedly a very much second string side put out by Lambert but Guzan played and saved us from a good thrashing.
No one on the night, other than possibly Grealish enhanced their chances of being given a chance this season. Very poor. Early days I know but if they want to put themselves forward for consideration for the first team, they should be doing better than that.
Clarrie blue.

Agree13 Disagree7

Honestly, what happened to Lambert's strategy of signing youthful players??

Agree2 Disagree8

Honestly, where've you been for the last 2 months.

Agree7 Disagree8

What happened to the Moses deal how long does it take Jose to reply?

Agree8 Disagree1

That's because it's all tabloid talk, the papers don't have a clue

Agree7 Disagree3

Guzan didn't save us from a thrashing. I was there and he was at fault for their 1st and 3rd goals and his kicking was apaulling! I agree Grealish helped his chances but I also thought Janoi, Jores, Charlie and Callum Robinson also impressed a lot. Was a lot of positives from the Chesterfield game. Score doesn't matter

Agree4 Disagree7

Moses is the nearest we will get to divine help.

Agree4 Disagree6

Whoever said that about Guzan is right he was well dodgy and lambert told him so apparently but villa have no better keepers and Guzan is capable of doing well as he got 12-13 save of th season

Agree5 Disagree4

Guzan wasn't he keeper he was last year, maybe a world cup distraction, the use of given so far in the friendlies may be an indicator for the season

Agree6 Disagree1

29 Jul 2014 12:53:31
Talk about Villa wanting Moses is a smokescreen according to few people, Marko Marin is Lambert's target

Believable6 Unbelievable16

I'd take them both. but think Marin is the better player.

Agree5 Disagree12

Hopefully not i'd rather have Moses over Marin

Agree8 Disagree12

Again, a midfielder who hardly ever scores a goal, we do not need.
Clarrie blue.

Agree11 Disagree8

According to tv it's actually atsu we're interested in and he's been given permission to speak to Everton as well as villa

Agree4 Disagree9

Where on tv I haven't seen this

Agree7 Disagree7

Neither are as bad as tonev

Agree15 Disagree2

Tv news were reporting it

Agree3 Disagree5

Also seen it in the mirror
(Paper)

Agree4 Disagree6

Wrong atsu to talk to Sunderland not villa and everton

Agree2 Disagree6

{Ed007's Note - Celtic have also registered their interest with Chelsea about taking Atsu on loan.}

29 Jul 2014 10:44:26
Local newspaper is reporting villa after victor moses on a season loan, could be a quality move compared to senderos and cole
WARVILLIAN

Believable14 Unbelievable9

Want happen with Everton sniffing around!

Agree4 Disagree7

Everton can only loan 1 player from Chelsea and that looks like being atsu, so moses is up for grabs, West Bromwich are our main rivals for this signing, will be very welcome if lambo pulls it off

Agree8 Disagree1

Everton want
Lukaku

Agree6 Disagree3

They want to buy lukaku, and loan atsu

Agree4 Disagree4

Lukaku tweeted about 'a new chapter' today does that mean he's joined everton

Agree4 Disagree1

28 Jul 2014 23:15:26
delighted to say that villa have 2 more players on the way but there's no truth in the moses loan. Told tom cleverly could be a option on loan

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Hahaha cleverly? Not even lambert is that dumb. Lambert has asked Chelsea if we can have moses on loan that's a fact.

Agree6 Disagree13

{Ed003's Note - Could you register please}

And these two players are.

Agree3 Disagree8

Ki and moses

Agree6 Disagree8

28 Jul 2014 20:13:39
I heard that Roy and Lambert were looking at Danny Batth from the wolves. Not sure how concrete this is.

Either way he's a local lad and a childhood villa fan.

Believable1 Unbelievable18

We're getting moses from Chelsea on loan

Agree4 Disagree11

"How concrete", was that a pun?

Agree1 Disagree5

27 Jul 2014 20:09:34
Don't mean to name drop but spoke to Charlie Nicholas again today. He said Lambert has be offer around the 20m mark 3 times off 3 different clubs recently For benteke. Apparently PL said he couldn't get a better striker for that amount of money. Thoughts? Fordy.

Believable3 Unbelievable14

Um I don't think so as he won't pass a medical, it's a gamble to be honest

Agree7 Disagree2

20 million for Benteke is a joke in todays market.
I know that sound s crazy but the football market is just that:Crazy
If we did sell him, I'd be disappointed with anything under £40, million

Agree9 Disagree10

Put it this way if Borini is worth £14m Bentekes at least £40m

Agree11 Disagree5

Players still pass medicals when they're injured, plus he's training again now anyway.
Also you're valuing benteke on his first season and possibly the first half of last season. Think we would have taken 20m if he continued to play the way he did during the second half of the season.
Having said that I want him to stay.

Agree8 Disagree5

He's only very light training, and I'm sorry 20m you are having a laugh mate, I don't think villa would take that at all, I agree he's not worth 40m, but worth more than 20m!!

Agree9 Disagree2

Benteke for me has the potential to be 1 of the best strikers in the world, The boy has everything, We need him more than the 20/30 million, PL won't sell him

Agree12 Disagree1

He won't pass a medical cause he is injured? didn't we buy downing with a broken leg

Agree14 Disagree2

Haha 30 million, you've got your head in the clouds

Agree2 Disagree9

Pure and simple villa won't sell period

Agree6 Disagree6

Of course Villa will sell if the right offer comes in.
Because the decision will be down to Benteke - players decide transfers nowadays, not the Board, not the manager and certainly not the fans.

Few clubs can afford to keep an unhappy player.

Something between 20 and 25 million would be about right
But don't forget the fee will be paid over 2 years - this is the norm for transfers between PL clubs

Agree5 Disagree3

Benteke has been quoted today in one newspaper saying that he wants to stay and has no intention of leaving the club. let's hope this is correct.
Also we are about to offer Vlaar a new contract worth 10 million pounds over 4 years. Can we actually afford such a sum? Much as I want him to stay that seems a bit excessive to me. Any thoughts?
Clarrie blue.

I know this is 'Rumour time' but I heard from a very close source of RL, that he's NOT selling AVFC! will keep you posted.

Villa Boy

Believable9 Unbelievable25

He made statement saying he's had enough and wants out

Agree11 Disagree5

I really doubt that. This is a silly post, why would someone publicly declare that the club is up for sale and then suddenly change his mind. makes no sense, his heart is not with villa anymore and he will sell villa just like he sold the browns years ago itsk
its going to happen it's matter of time. He's got many contacts soim sure won't be too hard to sell us sometime in the near future.

Don't post nonsense please.

AJ

Agree10 Disagree9

I know he came out saying he wants to sell, but personally I think he has done a u-turn, since he came out saying 'talks were good but no bids have been made and that's he's going to focus on villa for the time being' there have been a few signings and the rumours have been flowing.

Agree4 Disagree12

Well if he stays he should give lambert a proper war chest to compete

Agree17 Disagree2

The only way I can see lerner staying is if someone buys into the club as shared ownership someone like arison for example. The only reason I feel he was giving up on the club is that he was seeing no returns for the money he's put in. I doubt he will stay even in this case but this is the only way I could see him making any sort of uturn. You must also remember that if there is anyone in the process of buying the club they may want it kept completely hush until the deal goes through a lot can change or go wrong with these types of deals. HAVE FAITH! We have a wonderful club and are due some good fortune. Dannybronx

Agree10 Disagree6

It's not the case that he's NOT selling.
It's very much the case that he CAN'T sell

Agree12 Disagree14

Of course, it is possible for someone to change their mind.
How silly to think otherwise.

Lets be clear there: there is no sign of a buyer. I suspect what might have happened is that RL has steeled himself to continue to own the club for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Lambert needs to be given funds but the funds need to be on a sustainable basis ie what the club can afford and that doesn't mean that Lerner has to continually spend his own money

Agree5 Disagree1

Mike Ashley is a prime example of an owner whom doesn't know if he should sell or not. I think it's 3times he's done that.

Agree4 Disagree2

Football (soccer) is a growing sport in the states, with the MLS! Its only amtter of time before the deal is finalised!
Stop making silly negative remarks, when clearly there is no truth in your rumours.

So apparently spurs are going to make an offer of Dawson and holtby+cash for vlaar!

I'm thinking this would be a good move for us! UTV

Believable29 Unbelievable12

Too many rumours on here! seems like everybody is writing what they want and not what is actually true.
Does anyone really think the club is going to be sold? Heard about the 1st Aug on about 40 different occasions, and it's getting very boring now.
Why not just wait and see what really happens! Who do you honestly think wants to buy a club in this sort of turmoil? I have been a fan of AV for 27 years and never seen things so bad.
If anything does happen with the sale PL need to be the first to go, that's for sure! WORST AV manager I can remember by a long long way.
Sorry but no good for this club!
Thoughts welcome!

Agree12 Disagree23

Very good move if it happens, let's get it rolling

Agree10 Disagree7

I'd take it, also levy would send a couple loans to, so interesting rumour definitely the best deal we could get if vlaar went

Agree11 Disagree9

Um mate you missed out Alex mccleash now there is the worst manager this club has had EVER!!! Lambert has done a damn good job with what he had at his disposal

Agree22 Disagree12

To the above post.
"Well it is a rumours site mate"
If we all waited to see what happens it would be pointless having a Rumours and Banter site.
All of this seculation make for good reading and at times it makes you laugh.
We have had worse managers than PL mate, look back a bit and see.

Villadave

Agree16 Disagree3

Lambo has not been that bad, a few bad buys but o'neil made worst buys and wasted a lot of money on crap signings and still getting them off the books, that's what put us in such bad shape

Agree13 Disagree7

You forgot Graham Turner and Billy McNeil! Worse managers than PL.

Agree13 Disagree10

Dr Joseph Venglos
I need say no more

Agree16 Disagree7

We could argue all night about whether he is "thee" worst but let's face it, he's up there

Agree8 Disagree12

I would say O'neil must be up there with the worst. Had £80mil to spend, a lot of money at the time and squandered it by selling off the cream of our youth policy and buying replacements no better than the kids at inflated prices and with inflated wages that drained Villa for years

Agree15 Disagree11

If you have supported villa for 27 years and think PL us the worst manager, you have a very very very short memory. Venglos, Gregory, O'Leary, McLeish etc etc. PL has done a decent job given the resources he has been given, and the comparative spending power of other teams (west brom gave spent £10m on one player for crying out loud). Also if anyone thinks Spurs are going to give us holtby, Dawson AND cash for Vlaar, who has only 12 months on his contract, you must living on another planet

Agree19 Disagree6

If Holtby an Dawson in a swap for Vlaar is true let's get this deal done quick!

There isn't much in Dawson an Vlaar's ability, both as good as each other, both can make mistakes, both can have dominating performances on their best days, but Holtby is quality!

We'd be robbing them blind, hope this rumour is true.

>Scg87

Agree18 Disagree7

It was a mere tabloid rumour and it said or and not and. Honestly expect some pathetic offers to come in to force our hand and them maybe 5m leaving us with senderos, baker, Clarke and okore as centre backs, I for one am very worried about next season.

Agree11 Disagree5

I read it was spurs loaning us them not us having them permanent.

Agree2 Disagree5

If you care to look back, this season is the lowest points tally AV have had since 1970, and you some of you persons are sitting here typing things like Martin O'neill was a worse manager than PL. Get a Grip!
I understand you want to try and remain positive, as do I, but look at the reality. I appreciate it is a rumour site, but it takes an individual with a very boring life to sit and make thing up just for the sake of it. You will see who they are with the negative responses to this post. Show yourselves losers!

Agree7 Disagree15

Well when you post something please get it right, as the points we got this season matched what we got 2 seasons ago under AM, and you said since 1970 however in 1986/7 season we had 36 points from 42 games, um I'm pretty sure that's less from more games

Agree9 Disagree4

1970 was 2 points for a win so you can't really compare them

Agree12 Disagree1

I agree about PL rubbish manager, but some of the rumors make me laugh, and I love the site

Agree0 Disagree12

Pl was bought in to do a job for aston villa which he has done for 2 seasons on a budget! up to now he has spent 40 mil in this being his fifth window!
he has to manage a club with instructions and limits! not a easy task,
and one which I think no one else would do! I give props to lambert and I hope this season he alongside keane get us flying!

up the villa!!!

Agree14 Disagree4

It seems Lambert is looking to bring in two more players before the season begins.
One of them might be Ki -- no thanks one snub would be more than enough for me, thanks.
Clarrie.

Agree6 Disagree6

Id take that we need a number 10 like holtby, can't see it being true though

Apparently watchers of YouTube dallas tv saw Randy Lerner alongside Larry Ellison's representative at the game last night.

Further investigations have revealed that it's Randy Lerner first appearance at an villa game in 18months, the main reason is a sales exercise which would allow potential buyers to take a firsthand look at the squad whilst avoiding the European press hysteria.

Feedback so far. Club Structure -Brilliant, League Potential- Uncertain, Squad Potential - Average, Initial investment Required by new owner- £30 -40mill, Management - Replaceable {Klinsman}, Pre sale investment promised by RL- £15-20mill, Loan players spoken about =Deeny, Atsu, Campbell, Omar, Zaha

Believable10 Unbelievable17

Its micky arison and his wife, I think things are happening and an announcement is coming. months back many people said 1st august, getting close

Agree8 Disagree7

I hate to be negative but that sounds like a made up fantasy, Klinsman would never manage Villa and the possible loans are players who have had minimal linkage in the past weeks

Agree7 Disagree11

I think clutching at straws people, as much as I'd like to be true they were probably just friends of randy's nothing else

Agree6 Disagree5

Arison is in Italy on vacation, sorry guys your way wide of the mark

Agree7 Disagree7

Business people, especially at Larry Ellison level, are never on holiday as we "ordinary" people view them. It would be right and proper his top representative would take his place at the match anyway, that's his job. What is interesting is Learner was there with him which, hopefully, means he still has some good will to Villa

Agree6 Disagree5

What is any of that based on? Complete rubbish. Btw, any multiple billionaire who buys a middle to low ranking PL side has no interest in the quality of the current playing staff. If the purchaser is even remotely serious they would all be gone within 12 months anyway

Agree7 Disagree4

There are pictures of a guy shaking hands with Lerner outside the stadium, an them pictures do look like Micky Arison, an anyone who has seen Arison will know he's got a distinctive appearance, certainly looks like him to me.

I did watch the Villa Dallas game but I don't remember the camera pointed at where Lerner was sitting during the game

>Scg87

Agree5 Disagree3

I have just seen the pictures of lerner at the dallas game and I personally am 95% sure that its micky arison in the pictures! fingers crossed. dannybronx

I have heard we are looking at Evian midfielder Daniel Wass.
He is a Danish international and signed from Benfica in 2012, following a loan spell.
He has two years left on his current deal at Evian and is believed to be keen on a Premier League move to enhance his international career.
Apparently Evian are resigned to losing Wass and offers of around £3million might be enough.
It stated he was a fullback but has since reverted to midfield and scored 9 in 38!

Believable5 Unbelievable10

I have read this report to, not to keen to be fair, was hoping for ki, but he is waiting for a better offer, that will prop not come, ah well his loss, good news to here the mighty Delph wants to stay, and fair play to lambert for sticking to his guns regarding vlaar, I do hate manager declaring interest in players, that's what Benitez did with Barry, it just unsettles them.

Agree11 Disagree2

Have now seen that spurs are in for vlaar, however this is by far the more interesting as reports suggest they are willing to offer holtby, Dawson, cash and possibly a loan signing to, not sure how true as it's from the mirror, but it's a good offer if true

Agree14 Disagree6

If that deal is true and goes through, it could be the best thing to happen to us this seasson.

Agree13 Disagree2

Have to agree here if this deal does happen, as much as I'd be gutted to see vlaar go, Holtby and Dawson would be worth it,

Arsenal striker Joel campbell has been shortlisted for a possible season long loan deal along with Chelsea starlet atsu

Finch

Believable12 Unbelievable11

100% need some width with quality to beat a player.

Any ideas when Benteke is back?

Agree5 Disagree7

Both of those signings would be excellent if we could get them but unfortunately I just can't see it happening in either case. Too many other sides would be interested in taking them both on loan, several of them seen as more attractive than we are currently, though I hate to admit it.
Clarrie blue

Agree8 Disagree11

Loan players are sent to clubs that they feel would benefit the club and the player.

Arsenal and Chelsea obviously want their players to be playing week in week out. Sending players to Belguim and Greece will not get the players ready for the EPL.

People need to be aware that players get sent to clubs that play similar to their parent club. Before people jump on this I'm not saying Villa player the same as Arsenal and Chelsea.

I ask, why wouldn't we get players like that on loan?

Too much negativity going on here. It might be time to start getting the violins out. It is what it is.

Agree11 Disagree6

To be fair I think we could possibly get one of them because I think we could give them more games then other teams, and they would be one of our main players whipping the crosses in

Agree4 Disagree3

Want happen, anybody no what's happening with takeover

Agree2 Disagree3

I would rather have grealish and carruthers play then get some other from another club to give experience too,
i also believe they have better potential then albrighton, so why get in others to stun there growth! we needed experience and we have that with the bomb squad re introduced and also cole sendros richardson, I think our squad is not to far away from being completed.

Agree6 Disagree13

Anthony knockaert for leicester city will show what a quality player he is in the prem this season, would be just the kind of player villa need as he can play in hole and on either wing.
Finch

Agree5 Disagree13

Anthony who? are we so desperate? I worry about relegation more than having championship maybe's than him

Wondering if any rumours on Tonev. Not in squad for the tour of America.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Going to be off loaded due to crapness

Agree22 Disagree4

Tonev was going to be on the flight under one condition. Due to cuts in spending randy asked Tonev to earn his flight by finding at least ten match balls that he shot out of villa park last season whilst attempting long shots from 40 years.

Agree24 Disagree3

While I am no great fan of either Tonev or Luna, not two of our more inspired signings, I do think that the way the club appears to be treating them both shows that the stubborn Lambert never learns anything. He is doing the same with these two as he previously did with the 'bomb squad' and he has ended up eating humble pie there. No player deserves to be treated the way he treats them. I'll bet no one treated him like that in his playing days.
Clarrie blue.

Agree10 Disagree5

Totally agree, any other business HR and the unions would have done something about it. Respect is a two way street.

Agree9 Disagree4

Good point Clarrie
I genuinely think that intellectually speaking, Mr Lambert is a bit thick

strange one I was told today by a friend of mine with villa connections was shola ameobi on a free transfer. don't know how true it is but there.

Believable4 Unbelievable24

Bent, benteke, kozak, wieman, gabby, robinson. Why would we need a striker worse then all of them?

Lambert said to be looking at Mohamed Salah on a loan if possible, apparently there is some truth in the Ashly Young rumour too, second choice loan if Salah isn't available??

Believable8 Unbelievable22

Salah will probably be going back to egypt for national service, so doubt it very much

Agree11 Disagree9

Salah might be going back 2 his country if he gets called up 2 the military!!

Agree6 Disagree8

Mohammed Salah would be o. k. but still don't think Young coming back is a good idea. He left under a cloud and there are too many supporters who can't stand the sight of him.
Clarrie.

Agree6 Disagree13

Looks as though Salah is likely to be called back to Egypt to complete his national service according to todays news reports, so our chances of signing him on loan have just receded several degrees.
Bring on the next implausible rumour someone - where are you when we really need you, Kingvilla?
Clarrie.

Agree3 Disagree12

Well, I did ask for the latest implausible rumour and on another posting site for Villa I've just seen someone say that Southampton are to offer 2 million for Vlaar. It gets worse, it really does.
Some of these people want their bumps feeling.
Clarrie.

Agree4 Disagree6

Lets be honest, every club with any sense will be looking at Vlaar. PL or whoever should stick a value on him that reflects his performance at the W/Cup. Some players are moving for amazing sums so what is Vlaar worth? To us £20/30m as without him we are in the sh--. So do we let him go if an offer comes in somewhere near these figures or will PL sweet talk him as he did Benteke last year at a similar time.
With Okores and Vlaar together at the back and possibly Splenderous as a back 3 we would have a strong defence. Many of the best at W/Cup played a solid 3 and if PL went this way the lack of quality full backs would be a bit negated especially as Hutton now seems to be willing to pull his finger out if reports are true.

Oldvillan

Agree10 Disagree4

What worries me most is that a club like Southampton thinks that they have got a chance of signing our best players. Shows where our standing in football has sunk too!!

Agree13 Disagree2

I agree here, yeah he he's 1 year left on his contract, but his World Cup performance elevated his stock 25m I'd say, especially as luis had a howling tournament and went for 50m. Hutton made a real difference the other night as well

Agree8 Disagree3

There is no way anyone would pay more than £8-10 million max for vlaar with only a year left on his contract. And that's being generous. I personally think his World Cup performances have been way hyped up - the Argentina game aside (where he was truly excellent) I didn't think he particularly stood out. in the group stages especially he gave the ball away cheaply and didn't look very assured. Anyone thinking we can get £20 million for him are living on another planet. I think he is important to us however, and by all means let's slap a hefty price tag on him to scare people off. But if anyone is serious about cashing in on him at this point, then we will only be looking at a relatively small fee. He's not that young anymore also remember. I've said elsewhere that he'd be a reliable, cheapish option for other teams right now. He's not going to generate a massive transfer fee.

Agree6 Disagree13

The group stages where against Spain Vlaar took Diego Costa out of the game.

Agree8 Disagree7

Salah is not having to carry out national service and mourinho has plans for him this season.

Vlaar to Southampton has been picked up by various media sources as well as the local Southampton papers. Louven deal to go through by Friday

Agree2 Disagree4

Costa was nowhere near match fit. Did nothing in any of the games he played and didn't need taking out of the game. Any half decent defender wouldve kept him quiet.

Agree4 Disagree4

Why is it, that every year we worry about losing players with just one year left on their contracts? this happens too often, players like delphy 's contacts are a priority that could be avoided by signing players on reasonable timespans

An un-named Dundee United player is close to joining Aston Villa. Rumour has it, it's possibly Nadir Ciftci or Stuart Armstrong.

The Ki deal is dead in the water apparently, sources say Lambert pulled the plug when Ki wanted to see what other offers are on the table, Lambert has a reputation of not putting up with non-fully committed players, good news is money is available for the right players, hearing alternatives are lined up in Vullnet Basha and Valon Berisha

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Pardon my ignorance but who the heck are those two?
I can't be bothered at the moment to look them up on the computer.
Clarrie.

Agree6 Disagree3

It's o. k. I've looked them up now - two totally unknown midfielders, one Albanian and one Norwegian with no sort of pedigree to speak of.
If we do have any funds to spend should the money not be spent on someone with a bit of experience- or at least someone we have heard of?

Newcastle are interested in signing benteke and villa would listen to offers for him. I hope this isn't true.

Believable5 Unbelievable21

Not true, this was a rumour in a Newcastle paper, no truth in it at all

Agree6 Disagree9

Yes, there is truth in this rumour. Newcastle made an enquiry about Benteke but have been rebuffed.

Agree12 Disagree7

Not a hope in hell
More delusions of grandeur from Geordie media no doubt

Agree10 Disagree13

Would anyone be tempted to take £20m for Benteke right now?
Rather than potentially waiting until Jan for him to be back playing.

Think I'd take £20m for Benteke now an use that money on 2 quality buys eg Holtby Caulker.

Whether or not we could find some sucker to pay £20m for an injured player could be tricky.

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree13

Have I blinked today and missed a couple of signings?
Sky Sport have just put up a list of Premier League clubs and how many new signings they have made in this window so far and against Villa's name is the figure 5.
I am aware of Senderos, Cole and Richardson but who are the other two?
Also, if Ki is stalling on signing in case bigger so called clubs may come in for him tell him to p*ss off.

Carrie, it was two academy players de Southampton! Not first team but developmental squad boys, good players but not primer league quality just yet.

It's the 2 youth players from Southampton, I thought the same thing, so Googled villa signings to find out

20 million for Benteke?
In a market where an unproven 18 year old defender goes for nearly 30 mill?
And you think it would be a good deal for us?
Seriously?

Agree16 Disagree0

Benteke rumoured to be interested in move to liverpool with a fee around the region of £15m-£20m, as brendan rogers doesn't want to go through with the origi move as he is the same player as benteke an with villas latest situation he sees it as an easy buy RL to cash in on his prized assets to get some money back he's invested into the club
kingvilla

Agree2 Disagree6

Origi is on his way to Boston for medical with Liverpool, before rejoining lille on years loan, sorry kingvilla wrong again

Agree6 Disagree5

Mendax,
No club wanted to pay £25m for benteke when he was fully fit and playing great football (12months ago) so would they pay £30m-£40m, which i'm guessing is your thinking, I don't think so.

I do think £20m for Benteke would be best for us right now, providing we can sign 2 quality players with that money.

Benteke out until jan? No guarantee he'll perform when he does come back, or 2 quality buys now who can make a massive difference between now an January, like I said, I'd be very tempted to take it an move on.

>Scg87

Agree5 Disagree5

Benteke is light trainings USA with squad, expect him back sooner than Jan, more end Sept to early October, also origi is to have Liverpool medical, and me loaned back to lille

Agree4 Disagree6

If Benteke comes back before Xmas with an achiles rupture then he's a break down waiting to happen, if we rush him back we're throwing £20m down the crapper.

Zog had the same injury, how long has he been out? A lot longer than 4 months me thinks.

Villa fans the time as come! We are going to be taken over in the forth coming day's! I have been told this by a very important person in the football industry

Believable9 Unbelievable23

Hopefully mate

Agree10 Disagree9

Where did you hear this from at the villa

Agree5 Disagree8

Not possible. Villa going to the USA today.

Agree8 Disagree13

Um how does villa going to USA stop a takeover please tell me

Agree7 Disagree5

Maybe coincides with the us tour in texas.
Lerner, the buyers are all based in the US!

Agree6 Disagree5

What difference does Villa going to America today stop a potential sale?

Think what your writing!

Agree7 Disagree6

There is no one ready to buy the club. Even if there is a prospective buyer, due diligence will take months to complete.

Lerner is not expecting any purchase to be complete before the start of next season, which is why he is exercising more control than previously.

Agree7 Disagree5

Lerner is exercising more control because Paul faulker is no longer here and there's only a finance officer who is temporary!

Agree3 Disagree5

You say it will take months but the club has been up for sale for abit now. Lerner has never once said there is no interest in fact he said quite the opposite his words if I remember where talks have been productive and ongoing. So what does that tell you? I personally am quite optimistic that there is method to all the madness and we will see positive outcomes pretty soon. Dannybronx

Agree4 Disagree5

There a constant talks with potential buyers, that a progressing well, but that's as far as lerners let on, and he had the step up as faulkner had told him he was leaving before he did

Agree2 Disagree4

Incorrect.

There have been prospective buyers but no one has progressed beyond discussions.

No one has initiated due diligence. So even if someone starts this process now, it will take months.

Lerner is expecting to remain in charge until next summer.

Even if someone steps forward, starts the process, Lerner does not want to cause disruption by selling in the midle of next season.

So: there is no buyer, no one has started due diligence and villa will remain Lerners for the next 12 months.

Agree4 Disagree4

Keep telling your self that bud, there are and still are talks going on with Lerner and buyers, he doesn't need to run this by you or anyone this is his club, and only his, but it's not like when Ellis sold the club and had to announce it, we are private now, for all we know takeover could happen tomorrow next week or next year

Agree6 Disagree2

Well you seem to be in the know. How do you know all of this information? And even if we aren't taken over. Provided our players stay fit I can't see us having a problem next season. We was without key players last season okore, vlaar for a stint, nzogbia, benteke, Kozak who might I add I thought was playing pretty well before he got injured. Gabby was out for abit too.

Roma interested in vlaar.5 mil!

Believable8 Unbelievable15

Vlaar is defiantly worth more than £5 million. At least £10million. And for Hutton if we get some money for him I will be happy. Hutton is a shocking player.

Agree8 Disagree10

Vlaar would be worth more than 5mil. if he had more than 12 months left on his contract. As it is, clubs know they could perhaps get him on the cheap side now while he's still yet to sign an extension. He's going to be viewed as a very reliable and more importantly, cheap option for many clubs now his profile has been heightened in the World Cup.

Agree9 Disagree6

Vlaar's going nowhere club captain and unbelievably loyal.

Agree14 Disagree7

I hope you are right

Agree10 Disagree2

Is that why he left feyenord for a bigger challenge. Players that seem loyal aren't always if a bigger challenge comes his way like a chance to play champions league with a top team like Roma or Man U we will be introuble

Agree8 Disagree2

I have to concur witht the above. If Roma come calling with the offere of Champions Leagure football and to play in one of the worlds most decorated cities then it would defo be a head turner. Plus Manchester United are Manchester United and sell themselves.

While I would be gutted to see him go (more so because what we would be left with) I would not hold a grudge if he left to play at a better standard and finish his career with the chance of trophies and european football

West ham offering a lot more money than villa

Agree19 Disagree8

The experience what be great and but again ain't this a free transfer of a player that just wasnt thought to be good enough for the team he's already at?

Likely to go to west ham or spurs I think. have heard they're both after him and with bigger wages on offer and the draw of London we'll probably lose out.

Agree14 Disagree3

Great signing if it happens

Agree14 Disagree2

What would he want a week?

Agree5 Disagree5

West ham don't have more money than Villa, Learner just decided not to spend what he's got and made from last year! Till where sold this will be the case

Agree10 Disagree5

Doubt this is happening as it looks Like Ki will become our 4th signing. can't see us getting both. Would love to see Cambiasso in a Villa shirt though

Agree6 Disagree2

Looks like 1 in 1 out with Luna on his way, ki will be a very welcome signing creative and can hold the ball well, just what we needs

Agree7 Disagree3

Ki seung yeung almost a done deal.

Agree4 Disagree7

Once again we lose one of our unwanted players on a season long loan which now makes two players on loan that we were trying to get money in for to spend on new players. I find it all totally mystifying but then what do I know - I'm not Paul Lambert.
Add this to the nonsense with Hutton and Albion and heaven knows what is going on.
Clarrie blue.

Agree5 Disagree7

Even if we did sell them we would get pittance for them so at least its wages freed up

Agree8 Disagree3

Is it just me or has there been a systematic ignorance of the quality and age of player be linked here or brought in? albeit a club in a sale transitional period or not.

The only way Lerner can prove his statement that he returned in the interim to focus on Villa, is to invest in Young Quality players that will improve the team, without costing a fortune to preserve his asset pre-sale which the whispers are that the sale is closer that we think.

Before some of you slate my suggestion of of young quality, rem we have experience in abundance, if you doubt me look at our current squad including Cole/Richardson/Senderos to name a few. and one of these Joe is actually not bad but also not 22.

It's terribly sad that Lerner abandoned his faith in the young way forward thinking of Lambert, the idea was right the execution wrong which was totally based on the standard of players purchased, Lambert got all but 2 BigBen/Bacuna wrong.

In any other club he would have been sacked, however there is a bit of gratitude as he could have walked during this summer of disarray.

Now he has to get more importantly the quality spot on, every player that comes in now has to be better than the player in that position by a mile even if they are loans,

Defour/Kiyatoke/Atsu/Diaby/Abdularaham/Wellbeck/Zaha/Joe Cambell.

The options are endless even in our dire financial position, but the question is has "Last Legs" Lambert learnt his lesson and gets in quality additions loans or buys.

Outs-Hutton/Luna/Sylla/Luna/Bent/Gabby/Given/Karim/Herd/Nzogbia

Agree3 Disagree9

I think that Cambiasso would be our best signing so far, if his wage demands aren't too high for Villa, as he was earning at least £130k per week when he was at Inter.

If Lambert fails to sign Cambiasso, then I think that he should try to sign either Defour or Parker.

Both Cambiasso and Defour are natural defensive midfielders. Parker is a natural central midfielder, but can play well as a defensive midfielder.

All three are very hard working players, and I would be glad of signing anyone of them. Any thoughts, lads?

Agree4 Disagree5

Defour again? this rubbish keeps getting posted, get real, its not going to happen and never was

Agree17 Disagree1

We've got quality young players coming through the youth system! Look at Grealish, Gardner, Robinson, Burke, Carruthers, Johnson, Donacien etc. Players like these won us the next gen series. We need some experienced players to come In around them and let them learn from them.

Agree2 Disagree6

Grealish again 'yawn yawn same sh*** different day we need proven quality not just occasionally good looking players

Agree12 Disagree1

Grealish hasn't been given a chance in the first team yet, he is young talent which is what you wanted right.?

Agree3 Disagree9

12 Jul 2014 10:15:52
Apparently Lambert is close to signing an experienced CDM, should be announced by Monday. Who could is be? Scott Parker after already raiding Fulham for Richardson. Parker was by far Fulhams most important player last season. Rodwell has limited experience but also youth. Personally not that best option as we need a physical ball winner who isn't blessed with injury every other week.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Would be surprised if Parker left London, and think Rodwell would be a fantastic signing, we must have some cash to spend surely?

Agree9 Disagree7

We have a reported 10m to spend including wages, would like to see Defour from Porto, he would allow delph to play a more attacking role as he would sit next to Westwood. Realistic.

Agree6 Disagree12

Maybe ki from Swansea would be a good CDM for villa

Agree14 Disagree11

Well if it is 10m including wages then it is all spent.
No fees for the three players but if they are all given 25k per week on 2 year deals then we have spent almost 8m on the three, perhaps they might get a game before we get relegated.

Agree6 Disagree10

M'bia is the midfielder, ne fee required, had a good solid season for Sevilla, would be very welcome signing, as have the rest of them

Agree4 Disagree7

Deduct the savings that have and are being made and you still have your £10 million

Agree4 Disagree6

I would say wages only count per season so its not all spent plus if they get some off the books it will be off set

Agree4 Disagree3

I'd like the look of M'Bia, he played well at Sevilla during their UEFA Cup win. Bit of bit and power in the midfield.

Agree6 Disagree5

We need at least 2 midfielders in my opinion, certainly player like ki would be ideal especially as last season we just couldn't keep the ball or string any passes together. Ki would be really useful!
Finch

Agree5 Disagree3

I see a majority disagreed with my comment as to the ten million having been mostly spent. Football fans can be one eyed but to disagree with plain and simple maths?!

So even presuming another 10 m has been shaved off the liabilities on the balance sheet, then Ki for 4m fee on a three year deal on 30k per week that totals 8.6m excluding agents fees bonuses sign on feed etc etc.

Clubs are businesses nowadays especially those for sale. When these spending promises come out to fans they are genuine but they are not a contract so you cannot check the small print to see whether it says 10m in transfer fees will be spent this summer.

Agree1 Disagree7

Rodwell to sunderland' why aren't we in this if quality is available lerner isn't the only reason, surely, we are aston villa what do the likes of sunderland have that we don't?

Some rumours today that Villa may be looking to put a bid in for Ki from Swansea (on loan at Sunderland last season) - reports vary of a bid anything from 2m to 6.5m - and 'apparently' not on a huge wage (after Celtic and Swansea) and therefore may fit our budget

Not sure how much credence to give to this rumour although I do rate him as a ball playing midfielder who can score goals

Believable5 Unbelievable11

I have heard this rumour too. He is a very decent player and can play the ball out from the back. And has the strength. Another rumour that might be interesting is Stephane M'Bia the former QPR man.

Agree1 Disagree8

"reports vary of a bid anything from 2m to 6.5m"

Rules the Villa out.

There is nowhere near like that amount to spend on transfers.

There is no sign of a buyer. Even if there was someone, due diligence would take months to complete.

Its possible that Lambert might persuade Lerner to release some more funds but given that Lambert is clearly trying to offload players to raise funds, this is unlikely.

I am no Lerner hater - he has invested more than enough money nor am I a Lambert hater but its going to be a tough ride.

Agree9 Disagree7

I'm not sure where any of this money from player sales is going to come from. Everyone who has left us so far, of the players Lambert is looking to offload, are going out on loans - so far Helenius and Sylla.

Keiron Richardson to sign in the next 24 hours

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Bendtner and richardson confirmed fridayWhat do we think of the signings so far is it improving the side vtid

Agree8 Disagree6

Richardson is better then Luna and Bennett. Bendtner has to prove himself as everyone thinks his wack.

Agree10 Disagree2

As much as bentdners reputation goes against him, I would think that if you just look at goals, if he played the same amount a of minutes for villa this season as agbonlahor did last season he would double the amount of goals gabby scored. Obv gabby adds another dimension, but let's be honest, his pace didn't count for much in terms of end product - other than 44 minutes against Liverpool where he was unusually fantastic.

Agree12 Disagree4

Richardson would be a good signing, I don't particularly like him playing at LB because he does make mistakes an gets caught out of position, but if we play 3 at the back an wing backs then he could be ideal to play the left wing back, he does have qualities, scores goals from distance, free kick specialist, good crosser, plays a good pass and is a hard working player, no real down side to getting him on a free.

>Scg87

Agree14 Disagree8

Let's hope he is as good as the last K. Richardson to wear the villa shirt.

Agree12 Disagree3

Villa really are scrapping the barrel here, any free signing we can and then Richardson? He was good when he actually performed but is too in consistent and was relegated for a reason! Some things needs to change at the Villa and soon!

Agree6 Disagree18

A state of confusion can be worrying, and I believe that would be the thoughts of a negative person. Let's not confuse negative thoughts with realism though. Paul Lambert is trying to do the best he can with what he has. Take the practical view point. If PL is fired (as is expected) when new owners come in, he is not old enough to retire or eloquent enough to enter the world of football punditry. No, our manager's only route back to work is as a manager. He is probably (and wrongly, in my opinion) going to try to have a season or half a season like any player would, playing for a new contract. Unlike a player though, PL is not in control of all of the elements that will ensure (or otherwise) he has a good "swan song" season. The players he has bought in, gives us the experience we crave from players who are neither needy or desperate for the pay check. I believe they are players that will no more want a relegation on their playing file, than us fans! As for Roy Keane, the fact that most journalists seem to be reporting that Kieran Richardson will sign because of him and their past history at United and Sunderland (wasn't he a club record signing at Sunderland?), speaks volumes as to his potential impact.
We need to remain positive guys. The day we marry, we all believe our other half to be the most beautiful, the most thoughtful person on the planet. Only the most cynical would disagree. We all accept however this is not the case but we still focus on our positive attributes and the feelings of why we're with the person we are. Does this sound familiar? Sounds a lot like being a devoted football fan to me! So before we all relegate the club before the 1st August, let's inject some common sense, not cynicism. Let's add some support, not promote detraction. We don't NEED to support the Villa, we CHOOSE to. So why try to demoralise that which we have chosen?
Today, we are a different club. 1982 was a generation ago. Remember the past. Don't crave it's return because that will lead to disappointment and frustration and they in turn will show on the terraces. If this happens, then we stop being supporters and become the opposition. We can play our part and encourage the lads by letting them know we are still there for them AND the club! Here endeth the sermon!

UTV

Agree22 Disagree10

Feeling positive or negative about your club is not a choice it's a reaction
I feel negative about our prospects for the season because of the chaos we are in, the lack of clarity from the boardroom, the signing of poor players and the fact we have a poor manager and now a lunatic side kick at the helm, make it the only logical reaction.
If tomorrow we are bought by Bill Gates who subsequently buys Messi, Ronald, Thiago Silva, Di Maria, Kroos, Lahm, Yaya Toure and Neymar, I won't half cheer up

Agree5 Disagree15

Mendax, Why is there a lack of clarity from the boardroom?

We know the situation, we know Lerner isn't prepared to risk his wealth again chasing 6th place, we know the club is up for sale, we know we don't have a lot of money to spend.

What exactly do you want them to clarify?

It's all been said. Its all been clarified.
Right now it's all about waiting for a new owner.

>Scg87

Agree15 Disagree5

The only one of those things we know for sure is that the club is up for sale
The rest we have second guessed and surmised ourselves
Lerner's pronouncements are always late and always lacking detail
That's what I mean by a lack of clarity
I hope that's clear enough

Agree5 Disagree17

No matter who puts the shirt on we will always support them from the terrace

Agree10 Disagree6

Good point mate. And that's exactly what we should all do, when we are on the terraces
When we are off them however, we should voice our concern as strongly as we possibly can

Defour, as predicted is coming to VP! Buyer will be announced 1st Aug as also predicted! Overrated Vlaar to Man Utd, and Young in exchange!

Believable7 Unbelievable35

Doubt it

Agree14 Disagree3

Until we are taken over I don't see more than free transfers
Vtid

Agree10 Disagree7

Love the optimism here, with the exception of vlaar to united it sounds good

Agree5 Disagree10

Vlaar to United sounds good? Vlaars been the best center back at the World Cup, without him next year we will defiantly go down

Agree7 Disagree13

Is that the same vlaar that's had Messi in his back pocket all game

Agree10 Disagree1

British Airways flight from South America to London. Louis Van Gaal seas 1a, Ron Vlaar seat 1b. 7 hours flight to lure your man Louis. (Although I'm sure the contract will be signed prior to the seatbelt lights come on)

Agree2 Disagree6

Steven defour? where are you getting your information? we haven't been linked with him for a season and spurs would grab him way before we could even if we could afford him.

Agree2 Disagree4

Why is the 1st August always the scouted date for an announcement? Squad are starting to come back, World Cup is over and markets are moving. Makes no sense for new owners to wait another 3 weeks if lined up now

Agree4 Disagree2

I've seen some reports about Villa at times that have made me laugh but one in todays newspaper takes the cake.
Apparantly, we have to sell before we can buy so to raise money we are having a clearout of eight players.
Those eight are Helenius, Hutton, Bennett, Luna, Tonev, Sylla, Stevens and Herd. Apart from the fact that Helenius has already left on a seasons loan, so no sale money there, just how much do Villa realistically think they can get for that little lot? If they get half a million in for all seven of them combined it will be a miracle. I despair sometimes.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree7 Disagree5

Have things at Villa Park REALLY got to such a state that Lambert is now telling West Brom that Hutton is not for sale because we can't afford to lose him?
I give up - can things get ANY worse?
Clarrie Blue.

Agree4 Disagree4

Kieran Richardson to sign For villa in next few days! so much for ashley young

Agree6 Disagree1

Learner should hang his head in shame! Villa a laughing stock.

Agree7 Disagree4

Keiren Richardson was a god player 4 years ago as was Joe Cole but they are both joining us several years too late.
Also, Andy Marshall back as goalkeeping coach - what happened to our previous one? Wasn't it the ex- Southampton keeper Terry Gennoe - where has he gone?
Clarrie Blue.

Agree2 Disagree4

These are some of the most uninspiring signings you could come up with, I'd rather we take punts on unknowns from the Cyprian league or something, Kieren Richardson ffs.

Agree4 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - Just as a note to Clarrie Blue, Terry Gennoe has taken time off because of ill health, he might actually have retired. He recently had an op on his leg (I think it was) and is recovering.}

I must be the only villa fan happy with our signings, all premiership experience, international experience, Richardson will be good to

Agree11 Disagree4

I agree mate. You really must be the only fan happy with our signings

Agree5 Disagree9

I'm not exactly happy with the signings but I'm realistic, I would have preferred Colback Lescott etc signed on free's but we know the wage budget isn't allowing for that.

Senderos, Cole an maybe Richardson are experienced players who will be an improvement so we can at least be hopeful of having more leadership.

An there is still £10m to spend if reports are to be believed, so no reason why we can't get a quality player or 2 later in the transfer window.

I'm never one to get worked up an be negative in pre season, especially when I'm fully aware of our situation, I can't quite understand why others can't understand.

If allour dreams came true would we be happy with the prospect of lamberks ablity in the market?i'd be happier with a continental manager with knowlage of the world player base and not some Brendan rogers/fergies puds like setup that hinks its okay to asset strip other clubs without a seconds thought of what their actions will do to the club they're raiding, in the words of kevin keegan, if we raided them i'd love it!just love it

Three Americans are now in for Villa, whether its Randy as one of the three or three others is yet to be learned. Whichever way it is, Villa will have 3 owners come Aug 1st.
VillaWM

Believable10 Unbelievable14

Takeover not even remotely close.

RL increasingly frustrated at the lack of interest

Agree12 Disagree11

I hope who ever comes in villa is for best of the team and fans far to many dodgy wanna be owners out there. every fan wants a sheik monsour who pump in loads of money then walk away or be investigated for m/l.
you would be better of with a consortium of wealthy villa fans.
saw a report that said the sale of villa would take three months start to finish and the 10 mill learner stumped up half of that will have on the three transfers already

Agree5 Disagree5

Lerners statement said productive and ongoing talks, not once does it say no buyer at all, he conveniently said enough but also not enough

Agree10 Disagree3

I know there's a lot of Lerner haters on here but I personally can't see him selling to a Vincent tan/ Carson Yeung kind if bloke. He will do what's best for the club as a whole.

Agree15 Disagree3

Head in the sand time for some people.

There is no buyer, the club has not attracted a serious potential owner.

Go and read all the material out there, then join the dots.

Lerner is back to run the club because there is no chance of the club being sold before the season starts

Agree12 Disagree6

Here here

Agree5 Disagree5

Lerner is back to look like being an epl club owner is awesome and there's every reason to buy our wonderful goldmine of a club. OR he's just come to sign some paperwork to really rich new owners and then we can be a superclub.

Agree1 Disagree4

Ron Vlaar had a fine tournament and an excellent game against Argentina but as soon as he stepped up to the penalty spot you felt a Gareth Southgate moment coming on.
I just hope we don't now see him on a tv advert selling hamburgers with a paper bag on his head.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree4 Disagree3

It was pizzas Southgate, Pearce and Waddle sold.

Nicklas Bendtner to sign in the next few days

Believable12 Unbelievable15

I hope not villajk

Agree10 Disagree9

If this rumour crops up many more times, who knows it may eventually come true.
I can never make my mind up about this bloke, all I know is that he isn't as good as HE thinks he is but he should still be scoring goals in the Premiership if he is given the service.
Clarrie.

Agree6 Disagree7

He is useless just like senderos.

Agree7 Disagree16

It's odd when you think about it - Arsene Wenger signed them both for Arsenal and he has always had an eye for a player - he certainly hasn't signed many duds over the years so perhaps they aren't as useless as you think.
Clarrie.

Agree9 Disagree4

Report in the last half hour on news agencies says that Bendtner will definitely be signing this week, so we shall see.
Personally, though I don't expect many of you to agree with me, I think this will be a good signing if it goes through.
He can sometimes be a bit lazy but my bet is that Keane will bring him up to scratch.
Clarrie.

Agree7 Disagree8

He is never good enough for a top 4 side, but let's face it, we are a bottom 4 side. He is certainly a better all round player than Kozac as a backup to Benteke, which may mean we don't launch it long quite so often.

Agree5 Disagree5

With this possible third free transfer, probably the least inspiring of the three, it worries me that the wages paid to bender will be wasted on the bendch, injured, suspended, awaiting trial when more worthwhile targets should be pursued. in our attempt to see premiership experience, we have omitted the quality / good factor. I just hope that once again there are 3 or 4 worse teams than us this season otherwise in the words of the great private frazer - we're all doomed!

Agree2 Disagree6

Wow we really are pulling out the half eaten kebab from the bin the the morning aren't we?

Agree5 Disagree4

Bendtner has never reached his potential. If we did sign him Keane would help sort him out and turn him into a proper man and player who scores consistently. Or i'm just hopin that's what will happen :)

Hearing funds will become available for Bruno Gama and Craig Noone this window

Believable3 Unbelievable16

I don't think any funds will be available for new players till the new CEO is in place, with Faulkner going this shows that their something afoot and I'm expecting new owners soon.!

Agree4 Disagree6

Why would we want these two? Firstly they are both wingers so both play in the same position and neither of them are any better nor any improvement on several players- sorry, dross - we already have on the books.
If there IS actually any money available for new players, at least let's spend it wisely for heavens sake.
Clarrie blue

Agree4 Disagree4

Been longer that I would like since I went to Vila Park, but if memory serves the pitch did have more than one wing.

Agree7 Disagree3

Very clever comment, whoever you are, but it doesn't take account of the fact that we already have about 3 rubbish wingers on the books so there is really no need for another pair.
Clarrie.

Agree4 Disagree4

Well n'zogbla is far from crap just not consistent enough, tonev ran around like a headless chicken, and I'm stuck to who our other winger is

Agree6 Disagree2

Jack grealish

Agree2 Disagree9

Grealish

Agree1 Disagree8

Well then he is far from rubbish plenty of promise if brought in gradually, could even count Robinson as wing/striker

Agree1 Disagree4

Grealish can't count for yet but looking very promising, Bacuna as played wide and when we play 4. 3. 3 gabby, andi do aswel. Tonev a joke!

Agree3 Disagree4

I apologise for saying all our existing wingers are rubbish because those that can and have played on the wings are not all bad - however, I do stick to my feeling that we definitely don't need to spend our limited funds on another two of them when there are other positions that are crying out to be strengthened.

Agree8 Disagree17

That falling over won us a lot of penalties and free kicks which won games

Agree13 Disagree6

The rumour that West Brom may want Hutton made me laugh.
I can just see the Baggies fans putting the welcome mat out for him after he almost decapitated Shane Long a couple of seasons ago.
Football fans tend to have long memories for that sort of thing.
Clarrie.

Agree9 Disagree4

RL has a posted on vs site!

Agree2 Disagree7

To whoever commented above and said they never liked Young when he was at the Villa, you are joking right?

The amount of chances he created, the number of goals he set up, the way he destroyed Everton and the Blues, his link up play with Carew and Barry and his quality at set pieces? Oh yeah sounds awful.

Agree14 Disagree8

Agreed, they probably been followin us for a a year maybe less to say something that ridicluous

Agree9 Disagree5

What about all the times he barely got touched, fell over, looked shocked when ge didn't get a foul rather than traking back leaving us open at the back. Then when he come back to vp as a utd player dives to. win a peno and when they scored it celebrated like he won the world cuo. Good riddence I say. dobt want him back. Short memories some people

Agree8 Disagree11

Did you say cheap or did you mean cheat?

Agree1 Disagree9

What, you mean like virtually every player in the premier league then? They all fall over way too easily, or claim they didn't do anything when they clear just elbowed an opponent, or claim so corner/ throw in even when they know it came of them. They are all at it yo a greater of lesser extent. Most of us do it as fans, happily claim a marginal pen at one end, but would swear bilnd it wasn't a pen if it was in our box.

Agree4 Disagree6

What's the problem with young coming back, we don't exactly have players nocking down the door to come to the villa, take him use him and see what happens. can't be a bad as the players we've already got.

Agree12 Disagree4

I agree with what your all saying and although I don't like the guy he is definately far better then what we have and if he wear a Villa shirt again I would back him like any other player. For me I don't like cheats and I don't like players that disrespect teams they used to play for and Young is both if them and I would rather us spend tge money on somebody else. Also golden rule in football. NEVER GO BACK!

It would be shame if he was to go. I could understand if it was to a bigger club no disrespect to Southampton. Back to square 1 for us.

Agree6 Disagree5

He is so overrated its unbelievable. the culprit for most of the goals we conceed.

Agree9 Disagree26

I tend to agree that he is overrated. The tragedy is that he is still our best defender (not to be confused with the term "good defender")

Agree13 Disagree10

Agree13 Disagree7

"Bradford City"? So that was all his fault was it? There were no other completely inept, and by far and away worse performances that night then! Your telling me you would keep Baker and/or Clarke in favour of Vlaar? You name one game that Vlaar cost us, but there isn't enough space on this page to list the games the Clarke, baker, Luna, Bennett, Bacuna etc have cost us in the last 2 seasons. Vlaar is certainly not top quality, but sadly he is by far and away the best we have.
