Hutton negotiating personal terms with Stoke after Villa have accepted an offer of 2m

Villa also accepted 2.5m for Collins again this will be finalised once he completes his medical this week

Believable7 Unbelievable1

£2M for Hutton. Take it and run QUICK !!
I personally think he should have gone back to Scotland and helped The Rangers get out of the lower leagues as he would have looked good. I can't recall seeing him play any good football since he came South of the Border.

heard a few people say we're going for royston drenthe on a free transfer. would love to see it happen

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Would like to see it happen but the blokes a bit of a knob tbh

Agree5 Disagree5

To the people disagreeing with that he was kicked out of everton last year for Turning up late to many training sessions and his attitude problems something I don't think pl will stand for tbh. Nzogbia will be good next year anyway a rw is what we need

Randy to pump more money in to villa now he is selling the browns. Villa to make moves for Dempsey, Yoan Gouffran, Guidetti and Martin Olsson. Expect one or 2 others as well. Collins and Hutton look certain to leave

Believable6 Unbelievable14

The money he's getting off the browns, faulkner said isnt being invested in villa

Agree11 Disagree2

No he never mate, he never mentioned anything about money this s what he said

The US owner has decided to sell his NFL team, the Cleveland Browns, sparking fears that he could be keen to get rid of Villa too.

But Faulkner claims that decision is irrelevant to Lerner's future plans for the Premier League club.

Faulkner is quoted in the Daily Star as saying: "The Browns situation means absolutely nothing regards Aston Villa - neither good nor bad.

"The big point that people sometimes forget is that he inherited Cleveland - he bought Villa.

"Any rumours that he could be thinking about getting out or losing interest is nonsense."

Agree5 Disagree1

From what ive read the money recieved from the sale of the browns go's in to Lerner's family trust (family business) so does not go directly to him, he doesnt have complete controll over that money. Im not expecting large amounts of money to be spent on players an personally i dont think we need large amounts of money, from reports there are planty of players of a good quality available for good prices ie defoe £8m, douglas £5m, olsson £5m, brahimi £4m, phillips £5m, ince £4m, jarvis £5m, Hanley £5m, figaroa £4m, zaha £6m,£15million would probabley get us 3 of the better players on that list, id be extatic with any 3 of them. Ideally id like defoe, brahimi an olsson.

Im still shocked that we didnt try to sign Michu, swansea got him for £2million! 15 goals in La Liga last season could make him the bargain of the season. >scg87

Whats going on at Villa
No Confirmation on Vlaar yet (are we waiting for Collins to sign for west ham)
No news on Cresswell
And the only striker news has been a half assed rumor on Guidetti who is injured at the mo

ED any news {Ed043's Note - nothing as yet on any of these}

Believable7 Unbelievable3

What about jermain defoe

Agree5 Disagree1

If MON can't get the best out of a player no one can...

Agree0 Disagree2

PL can look at Grant Holt he did nothing till lambert went to norwich. Thn boom top scorer for them in three seasons in a row

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2012 17:27:19
Does anyone think if we got wickham from sunderland, Lambert could get the best out of him?

Hes a quick, tall (6ft3) forward that bent or gabby can link up with.

A loan deal till january and buy for £4-5 million since they paid almost double for him.

Like if you would want this an vice versa

Believable13 Unbelievable8

Sunderland won't sell him anyway. They have barely any strikers as it is.

Agree3 Disagree5

I guess your right even though I've read somewhere he could be sent on loan to wolves in exchange for fletcher and £10 mill

Agree6 Disagree0

Am i crazy?! Because it seems to me MON cant spot potential! At villa he sold davis an cahill when it was so obvious to every1 that they were prem quality, especially cahill! Now it appears he's trying to sell another quality youngster who held his own in the prem last season an showed signs of his almost unlimited potential, he might be 6'3 but he's mobile, quick, good touch, good finisher an he's willing to work for the team the only obvious weekness in his game is his movement which surely will come with experiance!? So why would MON want to sell?! Id defo have him at villa! >scg87

With Collins off to West Ham, who is going to snap up Hutton & Warnock ?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Blackburn for Warnock
AND
Lambert attempting to give Hutton to Ipswich in the deal for Cresswell

Agree1 Disagree2

Forest got hutton

Agree1 Disagree4

Possible that Hutton is going to Stoke.

Agree6 Disagree2

Why do people want to get rid of warnock he was class in midfield at the end of last season

Agree1 Disagree2

Agree that warnocks performances did improve when he was moved in to midfield but lets be honest he won't be playing there under PL! Id keep him but we need another LB to put some pressure on him so he is forced to up his game! >scg87

According to twitter a mad few days could be in stale,c Dempsey has pulled out of fulhams tour to get a transfer to either Liverpool, everton or villa with Liverpool looking the fav to land him offering Adam in exchange, but Martin
Jol would prefer downing, then in a strange twist villa are keen on all 3 with the most likely purchase being Adam and downing coming back for only 5 mil plus crossing out what Liverpool owe us from he original transfer,ed is this is how things go,does every club move people about in order to get the player they want it just seems frantic

Believable4 Unbelievable13

30 Jul 2012 20:41:13
Inevitably more links to players based in the Dutch league, latest rumour going about is that Slovenia striker Tim Matavz could make the move to Villa Park this summer. Wilfried Bony has also been mentioned.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Ed, reported that spurs turned down a £6m offer for defoe from villa an talk now that PL has made a bid for gouffran you heard anythin? >scg87 {Ed043's Note - all this looks possible with links to these players put mostly rumour so far}

Agree8 Disagree4

30 Jul 2012 17:41:26
Ed, what is the situation regarding Wolves' striker Steven Fletcher? His record is good & would partner DB9 well. {Ed043's Note - they declined a bid of 10 mill from sunderland so i doubt we would be interested}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 Jul 2012 16:36:34
Hey ed have you heard was guidetti really in birmingham he has a great scoring record in h.olland {Ed043's Note - this looks like a possible move as lambert has an interest in the dutch league players and guidetti may not be willing to play for man city, lambert also said he is bringing in an exciting striker which may turn out to be guidetti}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I hope so the lad looks sharp!

Agree2 Disagree6

Unfortunatly he s injued for 2 or 3 months so wont happen

Agree2 Disagree1

Ed - Where is PL qouted as saying he is bringing in an exciting striker/ Or is this a bit of 'inside knowledge'?
Would be a very interesting signing if we could get him! {Ed043's Note - a number of sources}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully we sign this guy I've been going on about him for ages. 10 mil will do

Agree0 Disagree3

30 Jul 2012 14:54:45
on twiter, John Guidetti spotted in Birmingham

This could be a Permanent deal as he was only on loan from Man City and would struggle to get a start.
He got 20 goals in 23 games!
UTV!

Believable3 Unbelievable6

30 Jul 2012 13:19:43
Looks like we were never interested in doumbia, neither were Albion. That's why wolves have got him on loan for the season.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

The same guy who signed for wolves today?

Agree2 Disagree1

Just because we were interested in him doesn't mean we will sign him. we might be interested in this man city striker but it doesn't mean we will sign him.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Jul 2012 16:43:50
any big rumours that are spreading Ed? seems to be quiet at the moment {Ed043's Note - not any big players but i dont think lambert will rush in to it, he will look through players that he is interested and try to find a good deal}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

We are trying to get a striker, defoe, gary hooper and a loan for sturrige are all on the list

Agree4 Disagree3

If Chelski have Hulk & Cavani lined up,do they really needc Sturridge?

Agree5 Disagree0

Aston villa seem to be searching for a striker having had a bid turned down for celtics gary hooper and are in talks with tottenham over a deal for defoe who lambert rates at 6 mil while levey wants 8 mill.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Apparently we're top of the list to sign young talent Kalem Waite off the hands of tottenham and qpr

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Jul 2012 20:59:50
With Collins in his way back to hammers expect lambert to submit offer for hanley of Blackburn sometime this week. Also shown small interest in Kevin Doyle however not expecting a form offer to be made unless fonz is made available for season long loan

Believable3 Unbelievable8

My mate works at sunderland and he as said collins will be mon next player in for 2mill.

Agree3 Disagree8

Appears your mate is wrong. Lol

Believable4 Unbelievable6

And you know this, how ?
Mendax

Agree3 Disagree0

What's your source apart from reading the link a few days ago on sky sports news?

He hasn't got a great goals per game ratio

sinclair
brahimi
balde
defoe
rose
vlarr
bring these players in villa easily have top ten finish

Believable6 Unbelievable19

Balde has just signed for a club in russia i think an rose is just not that good! I agree Defoe, Brahimi an sinclair would be good signings but cant see all three being signed, id settle for defoe, brahimi and a LB to give warnock some competition. >scg87

Agree18 Disagree2

Ed, any truth in rumours that Villa have made an offer to loan sturridge but was rejected by chelsea? >scg87 {Ed043's Note - i think this is just rumour as he may have a bigger role to play in the coming season}

Agree8 Disagree8

Warnock needs to leave, not be given competition. he is the worst player ever.

Agree3 Disagree13

Warnock is being linked with Blacburn Collins going West ham
and Hutton in a part x with Ipswich

Agree3 Disagree12

28 Jul 2012 17:03:39
the villa need to sign ibrahima balde he looks quality and yacine brahimi
danny rose would be a good signing

Believable2 Unbelievable17

Danny rose not good signing. He's hot headed, throws himself into reckless tackles and is too small. Thats why spurs willing to sell - not good emough!!

Agree15 Disagree2

I hate the "he is too small" comments...so your telling me alves, raphael, and ashley cole are too small?

Agree9 Disagree2

That Lionel messi too small to be a lone strike and mascherano's s*** at cb

Agree1 Disagree5

Danny Rose isn't as good as carutthers, grealish or even albrighton. we don't need him and he won't add anything to our team he is effectively a player who has just lived off one goal (the volley against arsenal)

Agree12 Disagree1

To be fair on D. Rose he looks a better player when he plays LB he tends to keep things simple when playin there. LM he looks to slow when looking for a pass an his decision making is poor when he has the responsibility of being the creative part
of a team. >scg87

Agree12 Disagree0

How can you even compare messi to macherano or rose. Do you watch football?

Agree5 Disagree1

He didn't compare him to macherano. And rose is a lm by trade hence a few dodgy tackles last year he's still adjusting as a lb

Agree0 Disagree2

randy lerner to invest 100 mil into villa after selling the browns. 50 mil now to push carrol deal through and a few more lambert wants. then 20 mil in the jan window to add a couple of fresh faces and 30 mil towards next summer plus what lambert can bring in from sales.baines ia on lamberts raidar for 8 mil plus warnock.

Believable8 Unbelievable18

You are in dream land!
browns aren't being sold to fund villa anyways.

Agree13 Disagree4

It is true Randy trying to sell browns but don't expect to see big increase in available transfer funds. It's not going to happen. Whoever posted message above is either dreaming or deluded or both.

Up the Villa

Agree12 Disagree1

Lerner has stated Villa wont get a massive injection of cash expect 1 extra signing which we need nothing more

Agree11 Disagree6

Aston Villa set to go head to head for left back Danny Rose

Agree2 Disagree12

Koumar babacar set to join villa for 8mil next week. great young striker good im the air strong quite quick and scores goals. could mean carrol is a non starter. also have on good word from never wring source lerner will invest around 100mil into villa over next 2seasons to get top 6 and try and attract a big bid for tje club.

Agree3 Disagree16

Cant see Lerner spending anywhere near £100m on players! Although i can see him clearing villa's debt to avoud paying intrest on any loans we have. Are you talking about Khouma Babacar of fiorentina? £8m Seems like alot of money for a player who's only played 20 odd games in his entire career!? Especially when Defoe could be signed for a similar price. Although khouma has the attributes to suit the prem style! >scg87

Agree14 Disagree1

Babacar move won't happen as he's just joined serie B side Calcio Padova on loan for the season.

Agree6 Disagree5

Baines £8 million + warnock are u mad David moyes does have eyes you know and if we do want Baines I think your looking closer to £18 million rather than 8. Also why would Baines join us at the moment, just being realistic boys

Agree16 Disagree1

I can see lerner using some of the funds for player purchases but only if the wages required are in line with the new structure

Agree2 Disagree8

27 Jul 2012 21:41:31
personal terms agreed with vlarr now a left back and a striker pleaseeeeeeeeeeee and give cruthhers a chance before going for ince/phillips ???

up the villaaaaaaaaaaa

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Vlaar in! Collins out!?! Ed is it true collins havin a medical at west ham on saturday?
An ive heard Lambert is havin talks with an unnamed striker who will "excite" fans, any ideas who it could be? {Ed043's Note - i dont think he is having a medical otherwise papers would be all over it, lambert has played he cards to his chest so im not to sure who this could be}

Agree11 Disagree2

Just need a left back and a top class striker that will compliment bent, then we can get rid of all the players we don't need!!

Agree4 Disagree2

Think it will be jordan rhodes would love carrol tho.

Agree3 Disagree2

27 Jul 2012 21:38:09
YES!!
Vlaar on his way to Villa subject to a medical next week personal terms and the fee has been agreed

And Cresswell will be on his way to hopefully with Hutton going the other way this being the only way Villa will offer anything like the 6m Ipwswich want

Then COME ON VILLA top TEN FINISH

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Not that RL is making £500m on Cleveland Browns or anything like that.
I have hear he'll invest a further £25m in Villa this summer in a summer european push.

Agree1 Disagree4

27 Jul 2012 17:38:46
villa have signed vlaar on a three year deal to be confirmed later in day

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Ed, Collins off to the hammers? An rumours that PL is close to signing a striker? Any solid truth to this speculation?
>scg87 {Ed043's Note - collins may be leaving as vlaar is set to enter, there is likely to be a new striker but unsure who yet}

Agree14 Disagree0

Do you think he'll really sighn him.he should save the money and get a much better player?

26 Jul 2012 21:28:55
scott sinclair will join villa for 5.5 million pounds after the olympics as he has turned down the chance for the contract extension so villa is his favorite destination

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Fantastic, he is like Ashley Young but could be better than our ex #7.

Up The Villa!

Agree5 Disagree21

Hi ed how strong are these links with us been in for Scott Sinclair are we really in for him he would be class in our team but we need someone else up front too I'd have ah gamble on love from cska Moscow {Ed043's Note - they are not very strong, and i ddoubt that love would come to us because of the wages he is on in russia}

Agree5 Disagree0

Norwich are favourites to sign him

Agree0 Disagree6

READING star Jem Karacan’s contract talks have stalled.

Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham, along with Turkish sides Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, are monitoring the situation on the 22 yr old midfielder.

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Is anyone else concerned with the fact we are generally being linked with only championship players? I hope they do the trick but I am sceptical... AVFC till I die!

Agree18 Disagree3

I share your sceptimism! Im not against PL signing players from lower leagues as long as PL signs players who do have prem experiance along with them. Im also slightly concerned that we seem to be more than willing to pay 'big money' for these lower league players ie Lowton
£3m ish (according to reports) an cresswell could end up costing £6m which is a lot of money and a risk for a championship player, so i hope PL is not expecting to much from them, as i think that could be a costly mistake an not just in financial terms >scg87

Agree17 Disagree3

I appreciate my fellow fans sceptimism although i honestly dont care where the players come from providing their hungry and play through their skinto make Villa a force to be reckoned with again as this is something we've been lacking since Barry,Milner,Young and Downing left

Agree3 Disagree11

26 Jul 2012 10:02:56
Downing back to Villa for an offer of anything over 10 mill ?
That's a rumour going around with WHU supposedly the competition.

CR

Believable16 Unbelievable13

Rumour has it tha MOn is chasing his signature. As he is from that part of the world maybe he would prefer to link up with MON again. Let's also not forget that he only really had one good season at Villa and we got a great fee for him plus he didn't want to stay. Do we really want him back ??

Agree7 Disagree2

I dont we have three good enough wingers atm and gabby and bannan can cover there

Agree7 Disagree3

We don't want him back

Agree10 Disagree10

3 wingers Albrighton and Holman i hope your not refering to that rubbish N'Zogbia
but we do have cover in Gabby, Bannan and Carruthers

Brad Guzan has joined Chivas on a 6 month loan deal

Believable5 Unbelievable10

BS he only just resigned for us and Lambert is taking a good look at him

Agree2 Disagree8

Theres problems with Guzan's work permit thats why there's talk of him goin on loan. An the fact he didnt come back to england with the squad has lent some weight to that story, hope we get it sorted tho! >scg87

Villa are apparently winning the race to sign Swans contract rebel Sinclair.
Villa could snap him up for near to £5m to add some versatility to PL's options.

Petrov is finally in remission officially!
PETROV 19! The chants go on until he is back in his rightful shirt!

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Sinclair can easily fill the boots of Ashley Young

Agree9 Disagree21

Sinclair is a good player but he doest have the technical qualities that Young has, the only comparison with S. Sinclair an
A. Young is speed other than that i dont see any similarities. >scg87

Agree26 Disagree5

Don't know avbout the Sinclair rumour but sincerely hope Stan has received the OK and iis in remission.

Agree7 Disagree0

>scg87 you know nuffin. Sinclair is basically like young except the free kick ability. Give sinclair a few seasons at villa and he would be as good as young.

Agree5 Disagree26

Haha give sinclair a few seasons at villa an he'll be as good as young?? First you say sinclair is "basically like young" then you say give sinclair a "few seasons at villa then he'll be as good as young" make up your mind. Lmao. I get the feeling you've never seen sinclair play football! Haha
>scg87

Agree24 Disagree1

Just seen Petrov in Sainsburys, where I work, and he looks really well. UTV!

Agree1 Disagree3

I'd like Sinclair to join, but for £2.5m,I would get Yacine Brahimi in ....... he makes Young look like a penguin !

Paul lambert wants large striker believe d to be carroll or kenwyne jones.

Sturridge definetly

25 Jul 2012 11:39:28
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has made a £3.5m move for Town defender Aaron Cresswell, according to the Daily Mirror

The 22-year-old was a virtual ever-present for an inconsistent Ipswich side last season and was given a new deal until 2015 by Paul Jewell.

The ambitious Scouser will not agitate for a move and Town will hold out for around £5m but there is a good chance the former Tranmere full back will move to Villa Park sooner or later.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

He's a left back

Agree10 Disagree1

Where in that post does it say he is not a left back. It sez hes a defender and a full back. He doesnt need correcting

Agree10 Disagree0

25 Jul 2012 10:08:44
Tomkins for £5million maybe rising to 7 for him as a young english talent.
Sturridge in as a striker not RW like at chelsea. Sturridge, Bent, Agbonglahor, Delfounso, Weimann as forwards.
New LB could be cresswell or possibly bertrand from chelsea if we can get him perm.

Then top ten finish here we come. Eventually when given looses his touch bring in Lindergaard from united or promote Seigrist to number one

Believable6 Unbelievable30

As you said Tomkins is young and talented!
So what makes you think west ham would sell him to us for £5m?? Anyway id prefer we go buy Shawcross! >scg87

Agree27 Disagree2

Shawcross would be a quality signing but he's a GOD in stoke they wont sell vhim and it wouldn't be cheap if they did Man U get 20% of any future transfer on him

Agree7 Disagree18

25 Jul 2012 09:59:52
If vlaar is trying to tell lambert what to do and sign him, do we really want him?

Personally I would like to have Clark, Dunne, Baker and Tomkins (West Ham).

I believe tomkins would be great for us with clark in two/three years time. People slate him but he could learn from dunne just like baker and clark have been. Ship collins out with hutton.

Believable3 Unbelievable22

If we are shipping out collins where would the height in our back 4 be (hyperthetical question as on this site id prob get the answer of vidic and terry)

Agree1 Disagree15

Baker 6'3. Dunne 6'2. Clark 6'2 there not midgits, are they?! Lol. >scg87

Agree26 Disagree1

25 Jul 2012 09:31:01
Ipswich are holding out for a fee of around 6 million for lb Cresswell

Believable7 Unbelievable8

£6m for a LB who has only had 1 good season..... In the championship?! Lmao we could probably sign baines for £10m! Not that baines would come to villa, just making a point. >scg87

Agree26 Disagree0

Nah united want baines so he would cost more around £15 mill. U know what everton are like..... N if lambert turns him into a great fullback £6 mill would be nuffin.

I see where your coming from though i'd go £4.5 mill highest. Untested in prem and there are better LB out there we could get.

Agree0 Disagree13

Key word in your post is "if"! £6m is a lot of money for an "if" he becomes a good player. A couple more examples of LBs we could get for less than £6m are N. Collins, Izaguire even olsson all proven at a high level. >scg87

Agree21 Disagree1

25 Jul 2012 01:24:56
Taye taiwo looking to go back to the prem after a relatively good loan spell with qpr last year. Villa one of many clubs reportedly interested

Believable5 Unbelievable32

Would love to have him instead of warnock and he takes a great penalty. He's like a nigerian Baines.

Agree5 Disagree31

Taiwo might take a good pen but he's the opposite to Baines! Taiwo has a lot of pace, he's up an down the wing but he cant cross he cant shoot an more importantly he gets caught out of position on a regular basis. >scg87

Agree27 Disagree6

Couldn't disagree with u more! My dad is a qpr fan and when watching taiwo he has been quality. Easily dealt with walcott agaisnt arsenal, scored a great free kick agaisnt sunderland and put in a great cross for stephen warnock to head in the best own goal ever.
Basically what you said was complete ball s***!
I would luv to hav him at villa park.

Agree3 Disagree26

He's a great crosser of the ball and has a beast of a shot. Could probably get him for 3 mil as well which is half of what Ipswich want for cresswell

Agree1 Disagree27

So your dad saw 1 game where he played good? Lol. Did your dad say why QPR dont seem to be interested in taiwo? Because if he was that good at QPR they would have bought him already! Lmao. >scg87

Agree23 Disagree1

My dad is a season ticket holder!
And the reason they haven't bought him is becsuse qpr are interested in alexander buttner from vitesse

Agree0 Disagree22

So what your saying is QPR want holland's third or fourth choice LB instead of, in your words, "nigeria's version of baines"? Lol. Ok.... Taiwo cant be that good then! Maybe man u should go buy taiwo instead of spending £12m odd on baines! Haha. >scg87

Agree21 Disagree1

Baines is only that price because he is English you fool

Agree0 Disagree14

If taiwo was so good then he would have made it at AC Milan you person! Baines has been the best LB in the prem for the last 2 seasons! An like i said, if taiwo is so good then wouldnt man u prefer to spend 2million on him rather than spending £10m-£15m on baines?? I say again taiwo just isnt that good you moron! An everyone can see that except you!

An you stilL didnt say why QPR would prefer to have hollands fourth choice LB?? behind Pieters, Willems and even Bouma instead of "nigeria's version of Baines"?? Lmao...... Errrrrrr??? >scg87

I don't really see how Carrol and Bent will work...both have pretty poor touches. Personally I prefer to have a big striker paired with a little one whose tricky. Bent and Carrol up front doesn't seem to scary for other teams. With signings, I fancy we could line up like that:

_____________Given
Naughton__Collins__Clark__Bennett
Gabby___Ahmadi__Bannan__N'Zogbia
_________Carroll__Bent

Lambert will look at young talent, Agbonlahor will get a chance as will Barry Bannan and Ciaran Clark, Naughton and Joe Bennet are likely to be the new full backs with Warnock and Hutton being given the boot. Collins and Clark I can see being first pair, but perhaps a Ramis will come in (don't see Vlaar being likely anymore). Ahmadi will give us some good steel in the middle with Bannan picking the passes and Gabby/N'Zogbia giving us great pace up the wings. Naughton and Bennet will provide good width going forwards.

Agree0 Disagree4

Carroll won't sign. Lambert's been spending little amounts of money on foreign and lower league players, so I can't see him spending £15/20m for a second goal poacher

Agree3 Disagree1

Carrol would be a great striker an english strike force teams would be s**t scared of them plus he would be cheaper because liverpool still owe 2-10 million on stewart downings deal

Agree4 Disagree1

Gardner starting ahead of ireland and bannan? Haha No chance! Lmao

Agree16 Disagree2

Gardner is thefuture of villa he gotta play at some point, n if lambert gets best out of him then he'll make ireland look like doggy doo

Agree0 Disagree10

Ireland is technically on a different level to gardner, gardner an ireland are very different types of players, gardner cant pass the ball like ireland an if villa are to play with more imagination an style (short sharp passing) then we will need ireland in the team and at his best.

Gardner might be the future but maybe the future is not now for him, maybe 2years down the line will be his time, thats not to say he won't play apart of our season. >scg87

Rubin Kazan have met Newcastle striker Demba Ba's £7m release clause. All down to personal terms now

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Why is this on the villa page?

Agree8 Disagree0

The person who posted that is probably asking in a round about way, why havnt villa made a move for Dember Ba at £7m he could be a great signing! Or atleast i think he'd be a great signing.>scg87 {Ed001's Note - except that the clause only applies if the buying team are in the Champions League.}

Agree4 Disagree3

You make a good point Ed, i wasnt aware of that... But wouldnt newcastle prefer to get say... £9m for D. Ba from villa intead of £7m from a club in the CL, would they not except that? An do you think he'd be worth that money? >scg87 {Ed001's Note - they don't believe he will be going anywhere, so why would they take 9m from Villa rather than keeping the player? Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of spending that much money on a player with a degenerative knee condition. It could be fine for years, or he could slowly reduce in effectiveness, but there is also a chance he might only have a season or so left before there is a massive reduction in his effectiveness.}

Villa set to open talks with Liverpool when we return from America on a move for Carroll and Villa confidence in this move because chairman Lerner has promised £15 million to try and conclude a deal, while Liverpool still owe money on their transfer of Stewart Downing last summer, but that could be written off if Carroll is allowed to head to Villa Park.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Personally i think £20m for A. Carroll is to much to pay, are you all happy for Lambert to spend £20m on carroll?

Agree16 Disagree4

Carroll seems to fit PL style of play but if Newcastle got Cisse and Ba for around 20 mil then I think 20mil just for Carroll is not worth it. I would rather have an ok ish season (anything would be better than last) and let PL build and bring players through the ranks and get up coming youngsters. Wasting 20mil on one player is a lot and wont bring champions league football the following season.

Agree4 Disagree8

Whether Carroll is worth £20 million or not doesn't matter. It's the price that Liverpool will accept for him.

Agree3 Disagree5

Rather use that 20 mil on a top 10 mil cb nd two young fullbacks

According to reports, Kop still owe Villa around £15m from the Downing deal & so Carroll would only cost us £5m.

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Carroll's not worth £20m so id rather have the £15m from liverpool! Although i dont believe they owe us that much for downing. I read that they payed £10m up front an would pay the rest over a 2 year period so they probably owe us around £5m. If we paye more than £12m for carroll then we'd be getting robbed. >Scg87

Agree21 Disagree5

I'm not a mathematician. But if Liverpool owe us £15 million and we decide not to call in the debt and then pay them £5 million, Carroll has effectively cost us a total of £20 million.
I hope the wife looks after the bills in your house mate !

Agree19 Disagree1

I doubt that Lambert will make an offer for Carroll as Lerner wants results on a budget, and even though there are variable guess's as to what LFC owe AVFC, Carroll would be a retrograde addition to Villa. He failed at LFC and there is no evidence that he would succeed at Villa. I do think that Lambert will be "his own man" and will get the player he wants. My concern is that targets are slipping away as other clubs are buying now.

Agree7 Disagree2

I think Lambert is doing a good job building a squad with value for money players.
Also I feel many of you under estimate Andy Carroll. He played poorly for about 85% of last season but when he got going he looked decent. He and Bent would be a handful. He is certainly a class above Gabby.

OUTS-Dunne,Collins,Ireland,Delph,Warnock,Hutton, Unfortunatley Villa boy Gabby who truly promises loads but delivers below expectations a move may inspire him to better,Given.

Our quality youngsters that have the Grade required will be found out by PL new regime, those that excel willl be integrated to create a great Nucleus of balance/vesatility and dynamic team.

This will allow villa grow & compete without overspending causing financial constraints or becoming a mediocre feeder club, balancing the books/wages with those above sales.

Great Options....

GK-Guzan/Butland DEF=Clarke/Vlaar/Lowton/Lichaj/Baker MID-Carruthers/Ahlmadi/Albrighton/Bannan/Nzogbia/Herd AM=Feghouli/Holman CF/ST Bent/Carrol or Lukaku/Weiman/Delfounso

Am i the only1 that is concerned that while the team is on tour in the US all transfer dealings are on hold?
We could end up missing out on our top targets because of this crazy way of doing things!

An why is faulkner in the US? Is it not apart of his job discription to negotiate transfers! Shouldnt he be in brum sorting out these potential new signings i.e. Vlaar.
Its obvious feyenoord are growing impatiant waiting on villa to decide whether or not they want Vlaar, an soon enough they could end up pulling the plug on the deal because of that!

PL an PF need to be more decisive!>scg87

Agree23 Disagree2

Butland? with teams such as arsenal, man city, chelsea, man u etc all looking at him he isnt gonna come to his rivals. We would only get lukaku or carroll on loan. Lukaku regarded as one of the top young strikers in europe chelsea want to keep him. I'd love to see feghouli but i really don't see him coming from valencia we can't get too carried away we would probably get Snodgrass or Matty Phillips the players we've actually been linked with

Agree5 Disagree1

1) we aren't signing butland from blues
2) gabby is NOT leaving
3) given is NOT leaving
4) ireland i really doubt will leave. He is a Wes Hoolahan type of player - the sort PL uses a lot to feed the front 2 strikers (a finisher & a speed striker) which is gabby/fonz & DB9/"wee"-man.
Get your research done before thinking you know the world of football in the future please

Agree8 Disagree2

Not surprised vlaar has pulled the plug on his move to villa! I predicted this 2 days ago, Villa have shown a lack of respect to feyenoord and ronny vlaar in their lack of decisivness to get this deal done! Villa have handled this deal like a bunch of amatures! 2 words come to mind, unprofessional an incompetence! Words i didnt expect to say with Lambert as boss, but he's messed up big time. Not only concerning vlaar but what are other transfer target gonna think when villa approach them? Think twice about signing for villa, maybe

PL an PF need to learn from their mistakes, an quick!

Agree13 Disagree3

On this very site i said a couple days ago i was concerned with the handleing of potential signing and especially that of vlaar, i said soon enough feyenoord an vlaar would get bored of villa's games an put an end to any chance of vlaar signing for villa and it seems thats the case! Villa need to get there act together! This is embarrassing for the club!

What would future transfer targets think when we try sign them? >scg87

The back line needs sorting certainly put Clark in there, the Vlaar deal seems to have died down but I feel PL has ready got his sights firmly fixed on his targets, they may not be household names but they are going to be young and compliment our up and coming players.

Raids on Championship and lesser leagues in Europe and poss the odd loan deal is the way forward. Be good to see 11

Hi ed just heard Liverpool have agreed a fee for j Allen of Swansea with villa having agreed a fee last week for joe cole can u confirm this plus is it right we are leading the race to sing lakaku from Chelsea on loan if true surly the carroll deal must be dead {Ed043's Note - i doubt that cole will be joining us because of his wages. this is true as they want lukaku to get first team football in the premier league}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Hi ed are we really leading the chase for lakaku that would be a great signing for our club could do with vlaar coming in and a good midfielder and I would have a go for for Sinclair and Johnson {Ed043's Note - this appears to be true as we are looking for a striker and i agree that vlaar needs to be signed too. johnson and sinclair are both good young talents which would add to the squad}

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't want Cole, & i don't want to "sing" Lukaku as you are putting it.

You can hear all you like but Rodgers cant go back to Swansea for any players for a year. Clause in contract!! {Ed043's Note - there is a gentlemans agreement but no clause in his contract, he can choose to do so if othernclubs attempt to sign the player}

You are wrong. Another club have approached Swans re Allen so that opens the door for LFC to make an offer.

Bring in Phillips blackpool, Scott Sinclair, lukaku Sturridge or guidetti both clubs have far to many strikers, Danny Simpson as we lost out on clyne ffs,and aly cissosko from Lyon or taiwo from ac Milan who they what to get rid of. Cannot believe people are saying about gabby not being good enough.
On his day he's unplayable, he showed that a couple of times last year. Remember that he was managed last year by the worst manager to set foot into villa park so you can't blame him. He'll come good eventually no doubt.
Also, heard talk of guidetti? forward at feyenoord. no idea if he's any good or not.

Believable12 Unbelievable9

Guidetti is a Man City striker, he was on loan to Feyenoord last season a scored a lot of goals in Erevedise, but if City are trying to loan him/sell him they can't rate him too highly. {Ed001's Note - yes, because it is not like they have Aguero or Tevez in the team or anything to keep him out is it? They rate him extremely highly, that is why they want to loan him out, so he can get experience.}

Agree5 Disagree0

Work ethic not good enough last season at times completely un interested. Would not be a loss

Agree5 Disagree5

At Feyenoord on loan from Man City. Decent but probably not good enough for the Prem yet.

Agree5 Disagree2

Like to see the Gabby you have been watching! The one i have watched has awful attitude and is average at best

Agree6 Disagree7

Guidetti was on loan to them from city and I dont think he will want to be down in the pecking order below tevez aguero ect I expect big thing of delfouneso this year who I think scored last night. Before anyone disagrees he was under oneil who would only play gabby nd Carew week in week out with hesk and harewood higher in order. Houllier who had his stay cut short but
Said our youth was key in the future and I agree. He was also under mcleish who like the guy above said had little clue. But under pl I reckon he will shine last year he made Steve morrison look good ffs and he's welsh!! ;). I don't think it will happen but carroll would be a quality signing as he likes a big man up top like holt last year and tbh I think carrolls better. I would like to see albrighton have a decent year so we can cash in on him a lot may disagree but I would have him out he doesn't excel in any particular attribute imo. Straight swap for Matty Phillips. Utv

Agree4 Disagree2

Gabby for me is. Carbon copy of the Moore brothers they all promised a lot when they were young but always fail to deliver he won't be missed really guys he does not score enough to play up top and as not got the skill to play wide his game is all about kicking and chasing

Agree9 Disagree18

Gabby is one of the worst footballers ive seen play at villa park and ive been a season ticket holder for about 9 years! just cause hes in love with the club should not justify him playing week in week out. people just need accept the fact hes NOT good enough

Agree6 Disagree19

No doubt gabby had a poor season an an average at best season before last, but comparing gabby to the moore brothers is harsh an foolish! Gabby has scored 50odd goals in 200 odd games for villa and has already played for england so people need to stop being silly. Give gabby a break, get behind him for this upcoming season an then if he doesnt perform i'll be the first to say he should be sold >scg87

Agree20 Disagree4

Qpr's jay bothroyd has played for England and hes worst than gabby
give the guy a break! he will either leave or lambert will get the best out of him

Agree13 Disagree2

Andy Johnson have almost a 25% better goal to game ratio to Gabby. Do you think Andy Johnson is a good player

Agree2 Disagree0

Give gabby a break ,for thje last 2 season he has not been used to his full potential by him who shall not be named and houllier, he will come good with the squad we are putting together now, his pace will terrify defenders this season plus others need to start puttiing the ball in the net aswell.

Agree17 Disagree0

Gabby is poor guys if Sunderland offer us 6 mil snap their hands off bent scored more goals and he never played for 3 months

Agree1 Disagree13

Andy johnson has had a decent career without beeing anythin special, but has played an scored most his goals in the championship thats why his record is slightly better than Gabby's! Gabby has scored his goals in the prem! Truth is gabby will never be a great player but if Lambert can get gabby back to the way he was playing 2 years ago then he will play a big part in villa's future. >scg87

I said villa were in talks with Liverpool a couple of days ago. If he can be persuaded he will be at the villa next week. Liverpool would prefer him to go to villa as they still owe money on downing. Watch this space Villa fans.........

Agree2 Disagree3

Supposedly, we could get Carroll for a cut price of £15million. This would be £5million less than what Liverpool want because they still owe us money for Downing and this would cancel that money they owe.

Agree2 Disagree5

There is NOTHING on avfc official

Agree3 Disagree1

Its on monday media watch
quote"Lambert has openly declared an interest in the future of Andy Carroll, the £35m striker set to leave Anfield this summer"
lets hope Lambert brings him!
all players that have played for both clubs do s*** at liverpool and good at villa

Agree1 Disagree4

All players that have played for both clubs do s*** at liverpool and good at villa
Super Milan Baros put the S in Hit at both clubs oh and the man beast that is Emile Heskey??

Agree3 Disagree7

Carroll to head in some goals up front and Bent can finish-Carroll would be a good signing

Agree3 Disagree0

Paul Lambert has stated today that he has no interest in signing Andy Carroll, Stop making all this rubbish up!

Agree2 Disagree2

Carroll is a useful player if you can get the ball to him (like Bent). Last season showed us that we should probably work on getting the ball to the strikers before we go and spend a fortune on a striker. Although, if Lambert feels confident that he can bring a couple of attacking midfielders or wingers in, it's not every day you get to sign someone of Carroll's calibre for £15m, so it's a tricky one in my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

Patrik Berger did very well at liverpool

Agree8 Disagree0

Quote "all players that have played for LFC and good for Villa" What about Collymore? Possibly the worst buy Villa ever made. Petulant, arrogant, egotist are all phrases used to describe him. When he wanted to play he was great but when he didn't my granny was better!!!

Agree5 Disagree6

Collymore was one of the most mismanaged players in villa's history a great player ruined by a useless money grabbing manager John Gregory

Agree2 Disagree11

How exactly was john gregory a money grabber?? An how was gregory useless? Gregory's time in charge was possibly the most successful period that villa have had over the last 15years bar his final season
>scg87

Agree10 Disagree0

Collymore only played when he wanted to play. It always appeared that he thought that he was better than all the other players. He wasted Villa's money and created havoc among the villa faithful. He set examples to the youngsters that should have seen him ....................!

Steve staunton, ray houghton, dean saunders all good players

What's Happening with Yachine Brahami?
Also im suprised no one has linked Owen with a Villa move, i could see Bent and Owen do well up top.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Rennes want a perminant move if this fails we'll get him on loan

Agree4 Disagree0

Old thinking. I have been disagreed with on many occasions about Owen, but I think that he could be good. Some t-ss-r suggested that I came from across the pond because I used the an Americnism. Owen will always score goals which is more than the Villa forward line did last season. AS for Carroll, I would need to be convinced. But in the days of old that I remember Villa enjoyed a big man up front. However what happens to Bent, perhaps Owen and Gabby. Will Gabby be on his way?

Agree0 Disagree0

Carroll would be amazing for Villa he hasn't really put a foot wrong just needs time to settle in somewhere plus he had a great Euro Championship. Gabbys is a difficult one as he loves the club and can be useful but for a striker i just don't think he is Premier League quality and if we are going to keep him we need goals from all over the place cause we can't rely on him. Would love to see Brahami at the club in any form and an optimistic move try to get Carroll and Owen in so we have a wealth of choice upfront?

Even The Fail are saying "The Royals had been in for Newcastle's wantaway full-back Danny Simpson, but the 25-year-old is now expected to join Aston Villa, as they have signed Gunter

Agree4 Disagree1

Why would we sign him we have 3 right backs now lowthin has signed we need to fill other positions in the team striker winger left back centre back we cant afford to waste 5mil on a 4th right back surely

Agree3 Disagree1

Lowton is a lb simpson is a rb

Agree2 Disagree9

Its 2 million read the front covers

Agree5 Disagree1

APPARENTLY ITS ONLY £2 MILLION

Agree4 Disagree1

Its a replacement for hutton and lowton isn't experienced enough yet

Agree5 Disagree2

Hutton has been left out of the US tour which speaks volumes so expect an exit if another right back is bought.

Agree2 Disagree3

Lowton is a RB who can play across the back an as a midfielder. I reckon he's been bought more as a utility and squad player. There no way we can expect a player who has spent the last 2 years playing in league 1 to be instantly good enough to play prem football! >scg1987

Agree7 Disagree3

Lowton is a right back

However regardless i think we would've seen lowton as back up to lichaj i highly doubt we actually will get simpson to be honest

Another five or six set to come in and four or five going out. Ron Vlaar looks a done deal just finalising personal terms with the player. Lambert sees defence needs a shake up and is acting on that and is looking to strengthen further. He is still keen on a deal for ramis and the two clubs are currently negotiating. He is in the market for a new LB and martin olsson could be a possibility. Robert Snodgrass is being mentioned but personally don't see him improving our squad. Lambert is monitoring joe coles situation at liverpool and would like to have the experienced midfielder on loan or permanant if he dropped his wages considerably. Another liverpool player Lambert has refused to rule out a move for is Andy Caroll. Hutton is certain to leave after being left out of the squad to USA. Lambert wants to keep Dunne and with the possibility of Vlaar and ramis coming and wanting to use clarke as CB looks like collins will be on his way out. Makoun may also be leaving due to work permit problems although its understood PL would rather keep him.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

What about danny simpson also what about rhodes and joe cole is part of brendon rogers plans dont know about carrol though

Villa interested in Danny Simpson now talks brroken down with Reading

And expect Bharimi to come in on loan near the end of the window as Rennes want to try and get a buyer before they loan him out

Believable7 Unbelievable1

16 Jul 2012 08:45:16
Rumour has it ron vlaar was at villa park and we are interested in him, but so are 4 other clubs apparently, liverpool maybe 1, everton, and 2 unknown london clubs, so he might be visiting each of these clubs all this week. He landed birmingham from amsterdam so villa was 1st to visit, ends up in london then goes bk home. I think it might be QPR and Tottenham, not 100% on the teams

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Tbh I think we could profit a lot off feyenoord just like a lot of clubs and Leeds a few years back they have some brilliant young players in there first team such as Stephen de vrig cb, jordan clasie, highly rated k.mokotjo, and Dutch u21 left back nelom, I also remember guidetti who was on loan from man city scoring 15+ goals and he's only 19. 5 mil would probably land him and is more proven in a top division than Rhodes and a bit cheaper

Agree1 Disagree0

The fee for Vlair has been agreed Vlair is negotiating personal terms with villa this is why he was at villa park

Agree6 Disagree0

The best player at feyenoord is a flying winger called Jerson Cabral he is rapid and scares defenders to death and is also full of tricks! That's who we should be trying to get

Agree6 Disagree0

I wouldn't say best but he's very although I've read his attitude is much to be desired. Clasie is best imo.Utv

Jordi classie is a fantastic CM! Has CLASS! Dominates the centre of the park like no other midfielder of his age. Creative, great passer an good runner from deep. Would be a brillians signing! But Lambert doesnt seem to have noticed him. Lol

Liverpool have rejected Newcastle's approach to take Andy Carroll on loan. The reason coming out of Liverpool is because they are in talks with Aston Villa about a permanent transfer as PL has been tracking him and has waited to make his move.

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Villa won't sign him because we haven't got the funds to blow on one player who hasn't proven himself in the Premiership.

Agree7 Disagree8

We got rid of one donkey we dont need another

Agree6 Disagree9

Liverpool have said he will only go out on loan?

Agree1 Disagree7

That is the biggest load of crap I've seen. Although I'd love to see him in claret and blue

Agree7 Disagree4

No Liverpool said they would only consider a permanent deal for him. That's why the Newcastle loan bid has been rebuffed.

Agree5 Disagree0

I'd prefer RHODES playing for villa

Agree7 Disagree4

Paul Lambert hasn't ruled out signing him i imagine us getting him on loan with the view of getting him permanently

Agree5 Disagree1

They say he is on 80k a week so I dont see us getting him with our cost cutting. Even on a loan the pool would want at least half of his wage paid and again I dont see the now frugal Villa paying 40k+ a week for a loan and with the money lost buying him the pool would want a perm deal and him off their books.

A few photos appearing on twitter of Paul Lambert on a stadium tour with 3 unknowns, 2 suits and another dressed more casually, early rumours are it could be Luuk De Jong with a representative and translator?

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Snodgrass is another who it could be?

Agree0 Disagree6

Just seen the photos, think it might be Robert Snodgrass? no doubt we'll find out soon.

Agree0 Disagree5

1 of the guys in the pic looked like Ramis but the quality of the pic wasnt great so not convinced. Luuk De Jong? He's been heavily linked with liverpool an newcastle dont think we can afford him prob cost £15m

Agree4 Disagree2

There's definitely pics of lambert showing Ramis around. I don't think the other guy is de jong thoo:/

Agree1 Disagree5

Apparently it is ramis and snoddgrass

Agree3 Disagree6

No it wasnt it was 2 close friends of Paul Lamberts , Lambert was just giving them a personal tour of the stadium no De Jong sorry to get your hopes up

Agree1 Disagree3

Just seen the pic got to say there is a resemblance between the man on the left and Ramis and not sure about the person at the back but he is a big f e cker

Agree0 Disagree1

No this wasn't de Jong would splash 16 mil on an unproven pl goalscorer but the pic caught at villa park was actuall Ron vlaar feyenoord captain and cb.how we can snap him up as they are struggling with financial problems(fey)

Agree7 Disagree1

Luuk de Jong with a translator. How many dutch people don't speak great English. In fact most speak English better than our home grown players. They certainly don't go 'errrr' at the beginning of every sentence!!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Bent wasn't named captain due to him being the most senior, Marshall would have taken it if that was the case. Bent took it cause he asked/volunteered to take it. {Ed043's Note - not in age but the status of the player as the most senior or highest rated player}

I would just like to say that we are in a different world to I'd say maybe 7/8 other teams at the moment and we can not seriously compete in the transfer window with these teams, I understand PL might have a kitty of 20m to spend throughout the hole of the season + money he makes on sales but the wages are the prime factor. PL is trying to buy hungry young lowish wage players to maybe sell on for a bigger price tag, but I think everybody knows that experience is so important in the premiership and without that any team could get dragged into a dog fight come April/May. Yes we do need fresh young talent and mr PL will hopefully sort it but a few experienced players are a must, so owen as pay as you play deal would be great (he has to produce the goods or no play no pay) we've lost petrov, almadi 1st season here so midfield is looking really young and I think needs an athlete with premiership experience ie do what it takes to get milner bk. Even on loan untill jan if necessary. Almadi, milner, island, carruthers for the centre rolls. I know milner is a long shot but why not try.
But I'm sure PL as got it all under control and it seems there's a real buzz about the place , but it might take a bit of time, so be patient all villa fans. Good times ahead.
Keep the rumours coming boys/girls

Believable3 Unbelievable11

Gary Gardner will make it in the midfield better than Ireland and Carruthers

Agree10 Disagree7

Carruthers is a winger and Gardner and Ireland are two different type of players so you can't really compare them

Agree11 Disagree4

I do apologise my friend i simply forgot about gardner, he will be a good player for us but carruthers is so talented i think (hope) PL will use him, and if he does'nt sell Island i believe we might see the best of him at villa park. Clark needs to be playing at the bk if he is going to feature in PL 1st 11, and it all depends who else we get in at the bk

Agree3 Disagree0

Carruthers a winger? are you sure, i think you will find he came to the villa as a winger from arsenal yes, but last season he was playing in centre mid quite a bit in the reserves, its where he wants to play, he is just a talented player, quick feet, lively and loves getting forward, he keeps the ball moving, 2 touch football and wants it bk all the time. class act

Agree4 Disagree2

Just watched burton v villa.. holman had a storming game and young damien johnson in midfield , one to look forward to

Agree6 Disagree0

El Ahmadi is a class act! Really liked the look of him today vs Burton.
EA,Carruthers/Garder/Makoun in centre mid for me.
Carruthers has skill and Gardner has patience - players we need!

Agree3 Disagree0

Good to hear holman and ahmadi had a good game today, early days still as we all know. but as said in earlier post i do believe that we need a good experience midfielder to add to the ranks (milner we could pay half his wage for the season 45thou would it be) maybe owen pay as you play, then we'll have most of the funds available for our new defence, but thats for PL to deal with.

Agree1 Disagree0

When will some of our fans stop talking about Milner coming back on loan ? Hes won the premier league and fa cup since leaving so move on and stop kidding yourselves City would loan him and he'd want to come back !

Agree1 Disagree1

Everyone raves about gardner and carruthers. But I think Daniel Johnson is shadowed out a lot he's consistent and always seems to score when I check on the reserves/u18. Probably not good enough to take the step up just yet but a loan to a league 1/2 team would do him a world of good as would it do carruthers. Fonz also maybe to a champo team, I really rate him but he's gunna turn out like Stefan Moore if he doesnt sort his attitude out. The thing with players in this country is they're branded the next big thing before they've even done anything and all the crap goes to their heads. UTV

Agree3 Disagree1

El Ahmadi looks class act got an eye for a pass curruthers will be great at cm to run at defences with skill and support the forward two still believe we need 1/2 new wingers who can actually cross

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah he has stated he prefers playing on the wing because he likes running down the wing beating players and whipping in crosses. But he can play CM

Agree0 Disagree0

New some would get annoyed and bite about trying to get milner back. ha ha calm down my friend. I never in a million years we ever get him bk, more chance of re signing hesky. joke to the side now, i think most villa fans are happy with whats happening at the moment and PL seems to know a good player (bargain) in AHMADI so be assured there might be a few more

Agree1 Disagree0

Mate,id love nothing more than Milner coming back but it aint happening.Im certain Lambert will add to the midfield soon and lets hope he identifies the next up and coming James Milner for next season.UTV.

Agree1 Disagree1

I am a Norwich fan....as you all know Lambert managed us in the prem for a year and kept us there comfertbly, we only had a couple of players with prem experience, he has a touch of magic when it comes to getting the most out of players, but in turn the players must be willing to preform, he will choose hungry players who give it there all.
You will struggle to get an overpaid established player who is just in it for the money to give it there all.....at Norwich the players were on almost equal wages no animosity between them and they played together for each other, that was plain to see.
Forget your big name signings let the boss do it his way, I know Villa's expectations are higher than ours but I belive lambert will produce the goods in time.....at least you will get some positive attacking football to watch which is better than the drivel you played last year.

Sofiane Feghouli-£9mil & Yacine Brahimi-£3.5mil plus 1 unknown CB will be AVFC only remaining signing, and to be honest i'd be more than happy with that.
To sceptical fans just wait and see, in the meantime checkout their potential on You Tube..this is 75% confimed by a reliable source but only PL knows if this will ever become fact, I hope so

So many people spending money like MON! Lerner may not be prepared to lay out £8/£9/£10m on players. He will balance the books, believe me.

I hope we get matthew Phillips from blackpool he seems to have more potential than young imo. I would also like ince but I think holloway would be reluctant to let them go. Max gradel from st ettienne can play either side and would also be extremely interested in joining. Although I would be wary of signing another personality like him.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed have u heard anything about feghouli I really wana see this guy at villa park next year . U haven't got a clue! Idiot

Agree8 Disagree1

Id luv to see M. Owen at VP! His goals to minutes ratio at united is pretty good so he still has that naturall ability to put the ball in the net! He always looked a threat when he played for united and his movement is in my appinion the best in football. An i dont think owen would expect big money at this stage of his career! He just wants prem footy.>scg87

Agree5 Disagree3

Owen wud be a signing we would of made in the past but not now! we need to change and accept who we are and where we are going!! new vibrant squad and loyal to the cause thats all we need in my eyes ? love villa to bits !!!!!!!! ?

Agree4 Disagree3

Pay as you play deal. Then yes for cover for bent but wouldn't want to use our tight budget scheme for people past their sell by date

Custom Made x

Agree0 Disagree4

To the poster that said "U haven't got a clue! Idiot." I posted several weeks ago that we might not get involved in many transfers this summer and this is proving to be a reasonable shout. Lerner will not loosen the purse strings as he wants to keep the books balanced. His interest is in reducing the wage bill, I believe he told MON this and that could be why he threw his toys out of the pram. Too many primadonors at VP and they have to be moved out. Lambert is there because he is expected to motivate the present staff, did he sign knowing this, I think so. So dont expect grade 1 players to arrive. Owen will score goals but he would be on a pay for play. Lerner wants performance related earnings, this was reported over 12 months ago, therefore Lambert will not get a treasure chest but he may get a carrier bag with a few old notes in it. You may all disagree, I fully accept your opinions/hopes, but facts are facts. Keep dreaming, it may be all we have!!!!!

Agree4 Disagree2

Never,,,why would we want players incapable of positively affecting teams we intend to emulate. Owen is no longer EPL standard player MLS haven't even considered a bid for Owen y should blackpool let alone AVFC, Defoe would add nothing and did not aid Bent at spurs do Santos would be better, However I hear Sofiane Feghouli & Yacine Bharami are Paul Lambert's top targets @AVFC for 2012/2013 premiership charge. and what a difference they would make to the new philosophy of possession/passing/technical ability and channeled aggression

Agree3 Disagree4

How is saying we won't be involved in many signings a reasonable shout? Think about it. The transfer window has been open for 14 days and we've signed 3 players, that makes it an absolutely terrible shout in my eyes, as that's a signing every 4.6 days thus far. And we know that there will be more players as he's already said there will be more coming in. And then there will be players leaving, meaning we will be involved in a lot of transfers compared to normal.

Agree6 Disagree3

Hoping that our flagship signing should be Feghouli worth more than a punt @ £9-10Mill followed by Bharami at a reasonable price £3-4 mill would seal the deal plus steal have players to be sold Bringing in a solid Central Defender, that would make an awesome squad capable of direct dynamic possession football

Agree1 Disagree0

Pointed out before that I said might not be signing many players. History is one thing : asigning every 4.6 days: that means we will be signing at least another 11 players. Wake up, smell the daisies, be aware, Lerner will not waste anymore money. I want to see more signings to make my team competetive but I am not holding my breath.

Agree0 Disagree1

If we sign Owen wouldn't that be a waste of money as you see more often down the racetrack/treatment room rather than on a pitch...I'd rather have Heskey back...

Forward Ciprian Marica is the latest name being talked about, his record in Germany doesn't really suggest he'll cut it at Villa? so seems an odd target.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Agree, his record at club level is poor, wouldnt make any sense in buying him

Agree3 Disagree0

Ed, talk of Defoe being available for £5m, personally think for £5m Defoe would be one of the buys of the decade although i can see his price going up to £8m atleast. Are villa showing any interest in him? {Ed043's Note - there has always been rumours since MON was at villa however at this point in time there has been no rumours but i would love to see bent and defoe as a partnership}

Agree5 Disagree3

I agree that Bent and Defoe would be a good partnership up front and from the support of the midfield we would have more goals to cheer about next season, however if Defoe was to leave Spurs I think he is more likely to go to another London club like QPR or Fulham. I think Owen would be as good with Bent up front. He just needs more games than he was getting at Man U and he is a proven goal scorer in the Prem.

Agree3 Disagree1

Reading are in talks with jermain defoe

Ivan Ramis has recently had a medical at aston villa but failed the medical but is set to be given another medical by villa

Believable4 Unbelievable6

If he has failed a medical he cant have a second chance he will sign for wigan or sunderland if he had failed at villa

Agree6 Disagree1

What website is that on :)

Agree3 Disagree1

The website is facebook

Agree1 Disagree2

If he failed his medical at Villa why would he pass at Sunderland or Wigan?

Agree3 Disagree2

These rumors are not true how do you know hes past a medical

Agree0 Disagree2

How can he have a second chance at wigan or sunderland? if he failed a medical at villa then the likelihood is that he'll fail at the other two clubs.

Agree3 Disagree2

Medicals can be mis leading remember demba ba failed a medical at stoke then signed for newcastle and became the signing of the season

Agree3 Disagree1

He 100% has not had a medical at all...yet

Agree2 Disagree2

He is signing for Wigan!

Agree1 Disagree1

John hartson failed a medical at rangers but went on to sign for celtic.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

What papers??

Agree3 Disagree2

Ivan ramis is coming great dunne or coilins will go

Agree3 Disagree3

Who is ramis actually going to because ive heard sunderland and wigan want him, also is tongo doumbia going to villa or west brom?

Agree1 Disagree2

James nursey has just tweeted NO more arrivals until after us tour.shame i was looking forward to see players in and fairly quickley

Aston villa are close to getting there 2 big signings could be ba' milner ' johnson or defoe

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Who said were close?

Agree3 Disagree1

Why would they leave there clubs and millions they get to come to us! I think you will find we are starting at the bottom, going back to basics with the good, but not spectacular players we have and will sign this summer. This season we will consolidate, gain respect and then attract better quality players. The history and name of our club will only carry you so far. We will not pay big wages to pampered pooches any longer. Only arsenal have found success with low wages but over the last few years they are all gone to either city or elsewhere for the money. Good luck to P.L and hope he does well with his low budget signings as we have gone the other way before with M.O.N and yes we had 3good years but at a cost of the last 2 frustrating years flirting with relegation.

Agree4 Disagree1

We have no chance in getting Ba? Crazy stuff just building up peoples hope, i can't really see any of these players joining maybe adam johnson on loan but would he be interested time will tell.

Agree4 Disagree2

Miroslav Stoch and Simon Kjaer apparently.

Even after Lambert said it is the end of greedy players at VP?!

i can tell you this paul lambert has 2 big signings lined up for aston villa and they will be completed in time for the trip to the states, they have both been to bodymoor heath and have discussed personal terms all is going well with the deals just minor details being ironed out, contract wise, i was at bodymoor heath and saw with my own eyes, demba ba, and yacine brahimi being shown around by paul faulkner and paul lambert, also arriving at villa in the next 2 weeks are simon kjaer, robert snodgrass ryan bertrand loan deal and sinclair from swansea, alan hutton gabby agbonlahor delfouenso james collins will all be leaving aston villa

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Seen them with your own eyes at bodymoor Heath? Who are you, the water boy?

Agree7 Disagree1

Demba ba will never join us we are not a big enough team anymore and if he is leaving newcastle he will join man u

Agree5 Disagree5

It is Andy Carrol who is coming in

Agree1 Disagree6

Brahimi looks like the next Ashley Young! Please lambert bring him in be a huge player.

Agree5 Disagree1

Andy carrol has said he doesnt want to join the villa and would prefer a move to london

Agree1 Disagree4

Lambert won't want Carrol for the same reason Brendan Rodgers donesn't want him, they want to play their way into the box not hoooooooooooof and hope the big man at the front can score.......If he wants a move south send him to West Ham he should fit right in to Big Sams tactics.

Thats not true lambert has said he would love him at vp

Aston villa have taken a step in front of reading and everton in the race to sign senegal and copenhagen striker dame ndoye who is rated at 4-5 mil and wants to test his goal scoring skills in the premier league. It is believed villa will match the price tag.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

We'll get a striker in but I think it will be more like Moses,Rhodes etc.

Agree5 Disagree3

Wots happenin with brahimi????/

Agree8 Disagree2

I agree mate whats the crack with Brahimi, anybody know whats going on. Was this a genuine interest or has somebody just made it up.

Agree7 Disagree1

Brahimi and tongo doumbia both to be annouced on friday

Agree2 Disagree5

Ed, Apparently A. Carroll is available for loan an im hopeing Lambert will act quick an go for him before W Ham do, is there any chance Lambert would sign him an whats your thoughts on how Carroll would do at villa alongside bent? {Ed043's Note - this is all rumour about carroll and rodgers has not expressed any desire to off load the striker however im sure lambert would be interested if there is a chance}

Agree3 Disagree1

Get this in your heads Mat kendrick has said the brahimi rumors arnt true, but we have a good chance of buying tongo doumbia

Agree0 Disagree1

Brahimi is not coming get it in your head

Agree2 Disagree1

BRAHIMI AND DOUMBIA ARE NOT COMING TO THE VILLA. Mat kendrick said the brahimi rumors arnt true and james nursey has said no more signings untill after us tour trip and why would he come to someone who cant afford his wage and heprobably wants to move to london, West Ham or Arsenal more likely

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Jul 2012 16:20:58
paul lambert wants scott sinclair to join aston villa but he will have to have a wage cut to join and i have rumours from swansea that sinclair wants to join up with villa

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Why would he need a paycut to join villa? we've just saved 100k a week getting rid of cuellar and heskey

Agree4 Disagree7

A paycut to join from Swansea who have a wage cap of £15k p/w, are you having a laugh!?

Agree4 Disagree3

It is true he needs to have a 10k wage cut otherwise villa cant afford him

Agree2 Disagree3

It's not a wage cut, he's going to have to lower his wages demands

Agree3 Disagree1

Times must be tough if he needs a wage cut from a club who was league two in the last ten years?

Bas Dost = 12 million
Kyle Naughton = 5 million
Jamie O'Hara = 6.5 million

Dost signed for Wolfsburg a month ago so don't just make up stories and do your home work!

anyone know if this 10mill bid for Agbonlahor and Collins is for real? {Ed043's Note -

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Really hope so ill drive them up Oh wait ive got a two seater ahh well Gabby can go in the boot

Agree3 Disagree5

If he goes we should go for Adriano who has just been released by Corinthians

Agree7 Disagree3

No it isn't.
MON has been linked with Gabby for almost 2 years now & any contact? no

Agree4 Disagree2

Why would we get rid of gabby, we have bent, gabby and weimann ... delfouneso isn't living up to expectation, so we wouldn't reduce it to 2 strikers + he can play on the wing... back off him, he isn;t that bad

Agree4 Disagree0

Gabby has been taking the easy money for far too long living off the fact he is villa born and bread! As a season ticket holder for 20+ years I will not be sad to see him go based on the performances of the last 3 seasons

Agree2 Disagree3

Gabby wiont leave and adriano is to old for the premier league

Agree4 Disagree1

Id like to know how MON has been chasing gabby for 2 years when hes only had a job for a couple of months

Agree3 Disagree0

Adriano is 30 and tbh would mind him sat on the bench. His international experience and champions league games could maybe rub on to the youth players. Although he is notoriously know as a bit of a party boy

Villa are apparently one of several teams monitoring the situation with Chelsea's Oriol Romeu, apparently the defensive midfield is currently not in manager Roberto Di Matteo's plans, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham are the other teams being talked about.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

Vargas wouldn't be the sort of player Lambert would buy. more likely a championship winger like Jarvis, Snodgrass. Would like to see a bid for Victor Moses though

paul lambert is interested in signing two of celtics best players believed to be beram kayal and victor wanyama

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Fingers crossed on Brahimi, he would be a real gem for us.

Agree6 Disagree1

I have recently looked at brahimi profiles on according to wikipedia. He has signed for villa today the 9th july bit nothong reprted on sky sports, avfc.c.o.uk does anybody know? {Ed003's Note - probably because it's wiki }

Agree3 Disagree1

Clyne and bertrand now lowton as cover as I don't know if he's good enough as I've seen very little. Danny Wilson from Liverpool would be a great signing to pair with Clarke. Mellberg as replacement on the bench. Matt Phillips from blackpool I've been saying we should get him for years and mbaye niang from Caen for 7 million

Agree1 Disagree3

Also I wouldn't mind spending 3-5 mil on Kieron Gibbs he's never really lived up to all the hype but maybe pl would get the best from him. Also a cheeky punt on Philadelphia unions freddy adu for 500 k subject to work permit

Agree1 Disagree0

ACcording to Wiki Tongo Doumbia has signed also - though it does say Villa have not confirmed it

Agree0 Disagree2

The rumors arnt true according to mat kendrick

Hi Ed, I know brahimi is only ''confirmed'' on wiki at the moment, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my hopes are high based on the fact that el Ahmadi was also confirmed on wiki a few days before we made his signing official. Let's hope they get it right again.

Agree1 Disagree0

This is copied and pasted from wikipedia:- Yacine has signed for Aston Villa today despite claims otherwise. Fee in the region is £3.5m and will be announced officially by Friday. {Ed043's Note - i would not trust wiki as a reliable source as it can be changed by anyone}

Aston villa to re-sign Brad Guzan before the end of the week.

Clyne is rumoured to be waiting for arsenal to come in for him as he would prefer to stay in London. Villa have offered terms as a first team right back replacing Hutton and Lowton being used as cover for all positions across the back four.

Ramis is rumoured to prefer Villa if we match the wages being offered by MON.

Bertrand is seen as new Ashley cole so there is only a slim chance for a loan move as it is seen as more beneficial for him to be tutored at his parent club. Figueroa is to be approached if we can get rid of warnock to sunderland.

Milner will reject the advances of villa at least until january as he wants another crack city before returning to his former best days.

Makoun to be given a pre season lifeline until the hopeful return of Petrov.

Brahimi should sign on the dotted line in the next few days.

CB should be our priority and signing wilfred Zaha and Klasnic as a back up forward.

Adam johnson is said to have demanded more first team action or the chance to move on. A loan move could be on the cards.

Lescott has his place at Man City so the dreamers can stop now. He is an ever present and is the least injury prone out of the cb's at City.

Hopefully a lots of in's and out's at Villa park and a busy transfer window all around.

Matt kendrick hasn't tweeted that at all!

Agree5 Disagree2

Snodgrass isn't in the same league as Brahimi!! He looks a bargain at 5mill

MON set to take Gabby sunderland for a fee of 8m and one of Collins/dunne will go with him as in different reports they change which one is going but a senior centre back will go with Gabby in a deal totaling 10-12m

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Would be sorry to see Gabby go, but £8m for a guy who's scored something like 8 league goals in 2 seasons is a great deal. Would bite their hands off, as long as Lambert is given the money to reinvest. I would throw both Collins and Dunne in for free - they are useless !!

Agree5 Disagree8

If we can get £8 million plus for Gabby we should rip his arm off. Gabby never looks like scoring and when he is through on goal my money has always been on him missing. Take the money and run the same way we did with Luke Moore

Agree8 Disagree4

How long has it been suggested MON wants Gabby?!? about 1 1/2 years! (including 2 transfer windows).
Offer £15m & I'll be intrested in selling Gabby , otherwise no deal!

Agree4 Disagree3

Good deal for Villa if it happens.Looks almost to good to be true.
CR

Agree4 Disagree3

Let him go for that much without his pace he would never be a prem player take £8 million and try and get defoe or maybe zaha if want young player

Agree2 Disagree1

O'Neill's wanted Gabby for a year and a half? Really? Why would O'Neill have wanted Gabby when he wasn't even in football management? {Ed043's Note - im sure o'neil will have kept an eye out for gabby when he was out of managment as all managers do with players they like or think would be good signings}

Hi Ed

Hearing that Villa are chasing Celtic's LB Emilio Izaguirre, Honduras international age 26. Any news on this as would be a great replacement for Warnock. Also linked with Bertrand from Chelsea although this bid appears to be coming to nothing as Chelsea see him as Ashley Coles long term replacement. {Ed043's Note - the rumours about bertrand apear to be true and chelsea have been rumoured to have rejected a bid for bertrand, as for iraguirre there has been a few links and i would imagen that if we cant obtain the services of bertrand we will more than likely go for him to replace warnock}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Warnock is on his way out - finally!
Izaguirre is top quality but Bertrand would be ideal as we have a name for creating English stars.

Villa and qpr interested in defoe but qpr are favourites at the moment

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Villas-Boas has stated he isn't for sale!
Bent & Defoe would be great but I don't see it.

Agree3 Disagree5

^ You're forgetting Bent and Defoe didn't exactly work wonders together at Spurs!

Agree9 Disagree3

They were never given a fair crack! Jeanette was always first choice then Defoe then bent. They never had a good run together which I think would be a good strike force!

Agree3 Disagree5

Keane!! Whoops haha

Agree1 Disagree0

Whilst I like both Defoe and Bent as goalscorers, they are way to similar, extremely one dimensional. Would be great to have both in the squad, but not in the same team, and we can't afford to pay someone the wages that Bent/Defoe are on to sit on the bench. Never gonna happen. {Ed043's Note - Defoe is not on as much as you would expect because spurs have a low wage cap and with the amount of wages that are leaving the club it is possible however i highly doubt that defoe would be willing to leave spurs as he recently built a house right next to the training camp so would probbly not be willing to leave}

A new link thats starting to gain momentum is that Sofiane Feghouli of Valancia is a possible back-up option if the Brahimi deal falls through? (apparently Feghouli is on very low wages at Mestalla and would be open to a move to the epl)

Believable8 Unbelievable1

The deal for Bharimi is nearly done and Villa now after centre back Ramis from Mallorca

Agree8 Disagree3

Also heard that affelay from barca has been linked on a season long loan

Agree7 Disagree5

Ed, a month also ago villa were linked with reyo vallecano midfielder michu an in recent weeks there's been speculation about A. Johnson and C. Dempsey but over the last few days things have gone quiet, are these players still targets for villa {Ed043's Note - these players have certainly got class and im sure lambert would love to sign the likes of dempsey however the wages may be an issue}

Agree5 Disagree0

I hope he does but i do not think he will! ?

Agree6 Disagree1

Hearing Gabby is off to Swansea in straight swap for Sinclair?

Agree5 Disagree9

Is the bahrimi on a perm or loan? hearing mixed rumours ed

{Ed043's Note - i think it is likely to be a loan deal with an option for a permanent move at the end of the loan if both clubs are happy with a deal to be made}

Agree5 Disagree0

Would love Sinclair instead of Gabby

Agree5 Disagree4

Gabby for Sinclair? Go away! Give Gabby this coming season & he'll get a minimum of 10 goals. {Ed043's Note - im sure many villa fans will agree that we need more than 10 goals a season out of a striker}

Agree5 Disagree3

I think Gabby has come to the end of the line at Villa and Sinclair needs that next step up, so it is a perfect deal and would love Lambert to do this deal

Agree5 Disagree2

Sinclair is overrated 50% of his goals are penalties. Ive met him him myself he's a decent bloke, I'd have him but not for gabby gabby will hit 10 plus with no injurys next year

Agree1 Disagree3

Cannot see Swans going for that.

Agree4 Disagree0

Sinclair crossing the ball into bent on 1 side and Bharimi on the other with Holman, Weiman and rhodes as support sounds good to me

Gabby is Villa through and through but not constant and rarely scores more than 8-10 goals would rather have quality crosses going to bent who will bag 20+

Agree1 Disagree1

That Mallorca guy Ramis is quality, would absolutely love him. Man of the match when I saw him play against barca( finished 1-1 )

lambert culverhouse karsa holman elmadhi horton
guzan now lets get rid of a few and then strengthen more?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Definatly its still only the first week of July and we have 3 in, I have a feeling we'll sign 7-8 players all at relatively low fees and 3-5 players out but depending n who's sold obviously hopefully Dunne, Hutton, Warnock and N'Zogbia and even Ireland get sld to make way for and established defender and a creative Midfielder and Tom Ince

Agree4 Disagree4

Not nzog and ireland only hutton collins dunne and warnock ?

Agree5 Disagree0

N'Zog is staying - he just needs to be played as an attacking midfielder not defensive midfielder!

Agree7 Disagree0

I would still sell nzogbia. Get Phillips he will be 20 mil + in a few years. And maybe ince for 3 mil both would be great servants

Agree1 Disagree4

06 Jul 2012 16:22:47
Ed, who do you think were going to sign in your opinion ? {Ed043's Note - i personally see lambert trying to strengthen our defence with the likes of ramis from real mallorca and potentially would like to see him sign another central midfielder who has abit more flair and has the experience for short term future possibly the likes of brahimi to play on the wide postions and play holman in behind bent}

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Ed where do you see N'Zog,Gabby & Weimann then? and even Bannan too! {Ed043's Note - i still see lambert starting with either bannan or n'zogbia from the wide postion with those to battling for a place and whichever looses out will more than likely move on next season and with weimann and gabby i can see them both being on the bench with weimann a gaining experience from bent with gabby possibly moving on from villa because he has not scored enough so lambert could cash in on him before other clubs reduce there interest}

Agree2 Disagree1

I think Gabby deserves another chance personally!
2 seasons he has been out of form - what happened in those 2 seasons .. Houllier: used him as a winger & he had many injuries.
McLeish: used him as a solo-striker for a while with Bent out injured & he had some injury problems.
Lambert does like playing the attacking game like MON, doesn't Gabby deserve a last chance?

Agree4 Disagree1

Gabby has a poor attitude. He only played the last game of the season so he was not classed as injured and therefore have to come back from pre season early. Get rid i say get MON to pay over the odds as he did for 90% of the players he purchased for the villa.

Lambert and Culverhouse don't like show boaters so expect wholesale changes.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

To be fair I wish we had some show boaters. More like show me the money players. Hope we are able to move on the players he does not want but Im guessing they would rather sit on the bench/reserves and collect than move on.

Agree4 Disagree0

Personal friend?

Agree4 Disagree0

Totally agree. We have had more trhan our share of take the money and dont run over the last few seasons. My old lady could do a better job than some of these lead legs. Her tackles would put most of Villa defence to shame. She is available and would not cost as much as the tea lady!

Agree1 Disagree0

What's Steven Ireland then with his tattoos, bling and pink Bentley?? Lambert won't put up with those antics for long.

Agree4 Disagree3

Of ireland delivers on the pitch then I don't think Lambert will care what coulour his car is he isn't mcleish ffs

Agree3 Disagree0

The problem with Ireland is that he's more concerned about his persona than he is his football.

Ed any news on a new CB? {Ed043's Note - there has been a number of rumours linking with a new centre back hwever there has been very little progress with this, as you know we hve been linked with lescott but this looks doubtful and also linked with ayala from norwich but these are both doubtful. we have also linked with Sascha Riether a german centre back but this is yet again only a rumour, i also believe villa need to strengthen out defensive line but wether lambert will look to do so is another matter as it seems he is keen to strengthen the attacking threat}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Ed Okay thanks any ideas who u think we'll sign {Ed043's Note - i personally doubt us getting someone at lescott's standard and should look towards clark and lichaj for the first half of the season and if we feel they arent ready for all the games look to buy players from other leagues such as the italian league and have seen a young players called Ogbanna from torino who looks a great centre back but villa has no real interest}

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed yh he is good but there are big clubs after him at the moment {Ed043's Note - yes so he may also be beyong our reach as well, i personally think ollson should be considered to strengthen the depth of the defence}

Agree2 Disagree1

Ed is there any rumours linking ryan shawcross with villa? {Ed043's Note - there hasnt been much linking us with him however we have recently been linked with ramis from real mallorca who is also a centre back who wants to move to the premier league and the vice presidant of mallorca has admitted there has been contact from a club which is likely to be us or sunderland}

Villa interested in fletcher could be a £8 million bid plus weimann on loan

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Yes it is steven fletcher btw

Agree3 Disagree4

Maybe but I think Bent & Fletcher are too alike!

Agree2 Disagree1

Fletchers agent wants to initiate a move if he goes he will stay in the midlands n it won't be WBA watch this space.

I strongly believe that if we have 8 million to splash on one player, he's not going to spend it all on Steven Fletcher. We'll look to someone better

Ed what is the latest on yaccine bramini the french guy? {Ed043's Note - as far as we know from frence reports and rumours in england lmbert is looking to sign him on a loan deal this season with the option to prchase the player at the end of the season, there has not been to much out of either club about this deal as we would expect however many have reported that this deal could be completed within two weeks}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

2 weeks is good . Thanks ed {Ed043's Note - not a problem however it is still possible for the deal to fall through}

PAUL LAMBERT is planning to bring £2.5million-rated Rennes schemer Yacine Brahimi to Aston Villa. Villa boss Lambert will complete his backroom team today, with Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa on their way from Norwich ----- The Sun

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Brahimi looks class!!

Agree12 Disagree1

Looks a very talented player him and Bas dost would sort out the midfield/striker situation unless Ireland goes then bring someone else in. Would like to sig clyne, samba, ayala,Figueroa,olsson from Blackburn he a bit dodgy defending though, mellberg to sit o the bench as backup a bit like carragher at Liverpool, caulker from tottenham seems good also to pair with Clarke at the back.maybe If Ireland goes we could get Ross Barkley who undoubtably will earn an England cap sooner or later. {Ed043's Note - thesse are all very strong idea's for the villa team however i doubt that villa can afford all these players because some are on to high a wage for villa to afford and we may not be able to afford to buy all these players}

Agree2 Disagree1

I suppose samba out of the picture then. Straight swap for Ireland with barkley then we have a free 50-60k wage to play with

Agree0 Disagree1

Doubtful as Bas Dost signed for Wolfsberg a month ago

Agree4 Disagree1

Really? Ffs Luuk de Jong then they both hit 20+ last year and are both young

Agree1 Disagree0

Luik de Jong has a £15m price tag which I doubt villa would be willing to spend on 1 player given the current financial situation of the player. I expect 3 or 4 cheaper targets will be coming in such as Rhodes, Clyne, ince and bermhi(excuse spelling)

Agree1 Disagree0

Well Huddersfield want 8 mil minimum. I would be a bit cautious of wasting that on a league 1 player might end up like Delph. I wanted the yak but he's been snapped up. Berba maybe although his wages may be a problem

Brad guzan is signing a new deal at villa

Agree4 Disagree1

Dunno why not signing holt is a bad thing. He's old and is going down with Norwich at the end of the year

Just been told Nathan Baker is going to be used as a makeweight in the deal for Nathaniel Clyne of Crystal palace.

I'm lead to believe baker will leave on a permanent deal rather than a loan deal

UTV

Believable8 Unbelievable14

Hope not

Agree12 Disagree5

Clyne is out of contract the fee will be about 2m because he's under the age of 23

Agree7 Disagree2

Paul Lambert must be told not to give interviews to people that bladder his intentions to all and sundry. You must be a very priviledged person to be in this close a contact with a man that has been manager of AVFC for such a short time.

Agree4 Disagree1

I'm not friends with him, never said I was so don't jump too conclusions. All I did was post a rumour I heard from a friend of one of the youth coaches. I've no idea if it's true, but that's what I believe this site is about otherwise it wouldn't be called football-rumours.co.uk would it!

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Norwich press confrence today announce Holt signed new 3 year deal and Culverhouse and Karsa new 3 year contracts aswell

Agree3 Disagree7

Now Hughton has appointed his own staff Lamberts old team are available but I guess that some compo. might be needed to keep the Canaries chipper.

Villa have got culverhouse and karsa now.

Agree5 Disagree0

Clyne would be a clever signing and will work well with Carruthers/Albrighton so hpefully we get him, we still need a left back Hadaira which would mean PL stil has £13-14mill to spend not incl sales which is gd .

would like to see Ince/Balde/Phillips a loan for Lukaku and Lindergarrd....these are all possible even with our financial restrictions rather than probable.

if 85% of the above becomes reality the the New Aston Villa Fc era has def begun , we would be a very dynamic/Pacey versatile side.... Up da Villa

Stoke City looking to sign Darren Bent for a fee including Kenwyne Jones + Cash

Believable4 Unbelievable27

Agree13 Disagree1

Has lambert not said that he has not come to villa to sell our star striker ?

Agree9 Disagree2

Villa should be looking at
Lukaku
Sturradge
Klasnic
Rhodes

Agree8 Disagree2

Haha funniest thing i've heard

Agree8 Disagree0

Darren Bent will 100% be leaving Aston Villa, sorry to disappoint {Ed043's Note - i highly doubt this statement is true as he has already stated that he is staying at villa and wants to play under the new manager}

Agree6 Disagree4

Jones is quality. Not as good as bent but way better than the unproven , lukaku, Rhodes, and the old klasnic. Sturridge would be the only one I want but he's just been diagnosed with mennengitus

Agree2 Disagree1

Oh Ed told you straight

Agree4 Disagree0

Jones is rubbish. Bent is not a 20+ goal a season striker.

Yacine Brahimi (22 years) could be loaned to Aston Villa next season. This is certainly understands that RMC Sports .

The Rennes would be willing to let his young midfielder in the case of a loan offer with purchase options.

Villa are also looking to move Ireland on as his 70-80k a week wage could be used on 2,3 or even 4 players

Believable16 Unbelievable2

With Villa needing defensive options and Mellberg stating he wants to return to the premier could this mean he's coming back to Villa??
Or will Lambert go for Clynne, Ayala J.Ollson,Dann even Lescot {Ed043's Note - i doubt we will see mellberg coming back to villa park and dont think it would be a good idea because he has such a good reputation so should leave himself as a hero of villa, all these players could really add to the team and are our reach so i would expect lambert to target these player

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Is it me or do villa look to see who west ham want to sign an then decide they want to sign them as well

Agree4 Disagree7

Lambert signed Ayala at Norwich, he is aquality defender, I think after recent events Villa must be prepared to pay over the odds for any Norwich players.......Whats the problem with Given? I think he is one of the top keepers in the prem, it's not his fault he had 10 under preforming players infront of him for most of last season.

Agree8 Disagree0

Given is nothing more than mediocre, proven again in the euros, but he was an extremely top keeper in his day. Villa can build a future with Lindergaard... {Ed043's Note - i wouldnt forget that given was not fully fit throughout the euro's and had an incredible season in goal for us}

Agree2 Disagree1

Ayala will not be going to Villa he has still got 2 years and will be following the same rout as Holt

Agree0 Disagree0

I dnt remeber ayala playing much for norwich this season. And im sure he'd prefer lambert a man who gets the best out of young hungry players

Agree0 Disagree0

No You are wrong Ayala is not leaving, he will be signing an extention to his contract this week, Hughton has got most of the first team squad all on 4 year contracts.
