Now for some proper
transfer specualtion. .We know Villa have signed Makoun and Walker have signed. Bent
will soon follow in the next couple of days. I still expect to see a few more new faces
at Villa Park before the end of the window. Firstly lets make it clear that Villa will
not be signing Benzema, Klose etc. .it simply won't happen.
We are
pretty sound in goal, nothing will happen until summer for that, at which point the
targets will be McGregor, Weidenfeller and possibly Kucszack depending on what the
situatuion at Old Trafford is. We will keep Guzan on and will use him in Cup ties with
possibly the odd appearence in the league.
In defense there will be some
changes, Warnock's situatuion isn't clear, we will have to wait and see about that
one. .but regardless Figueroa will be signed to give us a bit more stability as well as
attacking support as our goal scoring record this season has been awful. Enric Spahic
will also be signed as Houlier will be staying on, he is a quality central defender. He
will Davies replacement in the side. Samba has an outside shot at being signed but its
unlikely after he was slapped with a £10 million price tag. We don't have that
much to spend on one player after we have signed Bent. RB is sorted.
In
midfield there won't be too many more significant changes, we know that Makoun has
signed, he will give us a good bite in the center of the park. Adam will join him for a
fee close to the £5 million mark. Reo-coker may move on but Petrov will stay as
well Ireland who is coming back to fitness. In the wide areas little will happen until
the summer, Sessegnon or N'Zogbia will most likely arrive. Young will not leave the
club as Houlier will be rebuilding the squad. Downing will stay put also (heaven forbid
if either of those two left) All other defensive midfielder rumours such as Van Bommel
and Sissoko will no longer mean anything as they will not sign for us now. Seb Larsson
will also sign, for around the £5 million mark, this would be a cheeky signing of
Houllier, strengthening our team whilst weakening Birmingham.
Up top we
will have Bent in the coming days, with the probable signing of Cummings until March
with a view to a possible permanent transfer after the loan spell if he performs well.
Carew will stay, he is arguably our best striker and Houllier can recognise that.
Beye will move on like Sidwell has, Salifou's spell has come to its
end, he will move to a lower league or different country. Davies will also move on
thankfully. Osbourne will also mvoe on.

kept us in the game against Sheffield United would be STUPID. Davies can go, Warnock can
go. Young can't go unless we get a great replacement, N'Zogbia's a great player but
not Young talented. Ireland should cost more than that, still a hugely wanted player,
ego managers like Fergie or Bruce would want him because they think tehy can get the
best out of him. Sidwell's gone and Carew's not going to West
Bromich.
Walker most likely won't sign permanently as it's a test by
Redknapp so we'll stick with Lichaj. Sackho? We can't afford him with Arsenal and
Juventus around. N'Zogbia would be a good buy but not needed. Makoun only cost us 5m

the french, so much so that he bought an ageing pires which lets be honest is a poor
transfer but shows his faith in french players so expect french talent to come in.
Especially in the midfield. Dont get your hopes up as villa fans always do in the

or 2 at the most. lerners looking to settle the books too so don't think it will be a

With Guzan on a short term loan at Hull , Marshall will deputise
for the time being. Given may join on a season long loan in the Summer but not in
January.
Firstly Richard Dunne is not leaving the club in January or in
the Summer, his heroics on Sunday against Chelsea have drawn great praise from
McAllister. Curtis Davies looks like hes on his way out. Carlos Cuellar is also heading
out Spain being the likely destenation. Joleon Lescott may also join in a 6M deal.
In Midfield not much will happen though Niko Kranjcar will join as he is
out of favour at Spurs. If Ashley Young decides to leave (15-20M) , the likely
replacement is Charles N'Zogbia (11M).
Lastly the ongoing situation up
front: (Carew , Delfouneso , Heskey and Agbonlahor have only scored 4 between them this
season) Carew will be shipped out , probably to the Baggies. In response Robbie Keane
will join as part of a combined fee (Kranjcar) of 12M.
Leaving the club
will be Davies (5M) , Cuellar (4M) , Sidwell (2.5M) , Salifou (Release) , Ireland (6.5M)
and Carew (4.5M) .

Friedel. Friedel will stay. McGregor may make the switch to Villa Park in the Summer but
not in January, Given is another possibility. This area is not a pressing concern for
Houllier as we are pretty strong.

Sorted.
In Midfield no more than a couple of changes will be made,
Reo-Coker will be involved more and players are coming back from injury that have done
well for us in the past. For thsi reason i see one of Sissoko or Makoun to join,
Houllier has worked with both these players before, i think he will favour Sissoko due
to his Premier League experience. Wide areas are more or less covered, Kranjcar will not
be joining, he will stick at Spurs for the time being. Bentley will not be signed
either. Sessegnon is a potential signing, Houllier will probably go for French players
as that is his area of expertise so Sessegnon may join to allow Young to have more
freedom in the middle of the pitch.
Lastly we have the situation up top,
Carew, Deflounesou, Heskey and Agbonlahor have only scored 4 between them this season -
a shameful tally considering the fact it is January. Carew will be shipped out, probably
to the Baggies. In response we will sign one of Adebayor, Bendtner or Santa Cruz.
Adebayor or Santa would be loan moves i would think with a permanent switch to be more
likely at the end of the season. Cummings is likely to join on loan also with a view to
a $2.3 million switch in summer if things go well.
Leaving the club as
previously mentioned will be Davies and Carew. Expect them to feth arounf 7 or 8
million. Lowry will go out on loan for first team experience. Beye will leave the club
for a small fee and Sidwell will leave the club, probably to West Ham but he seems to be
stalling.
