Report in national news paper that AVFC are interested in Brazilian playmaker Diego.

I'm sure he would love trips to Rotherham and Millwall

As with all Blues fans, Mike is more interested in what Villa are doing; tragic really. Worse still, not even funny
Anyway, back to adult conversation; is this the Diego that was at Werder Bremen ?
If it's the guy I was thinking of he was (I stress was) absolute quality

It was a joke Mendex so chillout will you, great win tonight by the way i want Villa to stay up because like my own club you don't belong in the Championship plus i always enjoy the Villa-Everton games. As for Diego i do believe it's the one who used to play for Werder Breman.

Have some courtesy Mike, and if you want to make jokes on a football site, make it one about your own club.
When you don't, it comes across as antagonism

Kevin MacDonald confirmed as Sherwood's assistant.

{Ed002's Note - Are you pleased with that?}

Tim Sherwood confirmed as our new manager on SSN.

I'm not sure if I'm happy!!

But, on wards and upwards!!

Got to get behind him now!!

It's a weird one isn't it, But let's look on the
bright side.
There is no way on earth he can lower the bar of our expectations further than Lambert managed

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 18:09:54
I agree with Mendax, I think most can agree that our current higher powers are not right for the club and I hope we eventually find someone who buys the club and is passionate about our progression. but to lambert. he had time. he DID have money but his biggest issue was not settling on a favoured way of playing. personally I think Sherwood will be the feather ruffler we need at VP and hopefully the likes of Gabby that being a local boy and being able to run quick does not mean you get to call the shots! Was in a well known Hotel in Birmingham last night and I saw Neil Warnock in there - I really hope that this was just a coincidence! But we have made stupid decisions before, Anyone remember McLeish, watch this space.

Mr Lambert, to coin your very own phrase. 'You had enough possession (of the managers position), we could not have asked any more (less) of you. Now pick yourself up and go again.

Blame your scouts, blame your assistants (all of them), blame your coaching staff, blame your players, and blame your owner.

Now is the time the fans can really get behind the team. Its a coin toss we all (mostly) wanted. It landed on heads, then rolled off. UTV

I will be happy if Villa appoints Claudio Ranieri, he is without a job and he has almost 30 years of experience managing European clubs like Chelsea, Juventus, Inter, Monaco, Roma, Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and Valencia. His records are good at most of these clubs.

Shame the chief coach now takes over after every one and his dog state that we needed someone who could coach.
Now even royalty have joined in and suggest the Avram Grant could be the answer.

I think I'd like to see hoddle take over, and promote cowans to assistant manager to help as he is villa through and through. But who ever comes in it will need to be soon, and hopefully be able to motivate our sorry lot

14 Feb 2015 04:31:00
I think Sherwood would be a massive mistake, gutted we are in talks with him, looks like a rubbish appointment on the way. No track record, picked up a decent spurs team for 6 months that Barry fry would have got the same results with. Cone on fox hoddle!!!

Agree3 Disagree6

14 Feb 2015 12:24:56
Sherwoods record at spuds was worse than AVB and he got sacked.
Sherwood was not agreeable at QPR or Baggies as they would not guarantee funds for him so what is Lerner doing even considering him for the job.

Agree0 Disagree5

15 Feb 2015 22:43:16
I think you will find his record was the best any spurs manager has had in the premier league, win percentage of just over 59%. So it's time to get behind the new manager as today it was his half time influence that made the difference

Lambert turns down a move to villa so this clown of a manager allows Callum Robinson to rejoin preston, it beggers believe.

Believable5 Unbelievable10

03 Feb 2015 01:20:50
I'm glad lambert turned us down. The actual price is fairly irrelevant but to pay Liverpool more for him now than they paid southampton would have been rediculous. On top of that, it would have added another laughing stick signing to the increasing list of lamberts. Let's consider this season: joe Cole, senderos just for starters - can anybody say they are surprised by their 'impact'? Let's then look back to this time last year when we signed holt. What a joke that turned out to be. I needn't go on, but why stop now I'm on a roll. Tonev - awful. Loaning out Hutton for 2 seasons - awful (now our best player), El a'hamardi - awful. Luna - awful. Lowton - awful. N'zogbia - awful.

As for players already there that are far too much game time, let's start with captain Gabby - how on earth does he inspire. His goal scoring record has been shocking every single season. Weimann - awful.

I wonder if lambert could turn back the clock which of his signings he would re- make. Less than 10% I bet.

Agree13 Disagree9

03 Feb 2015 07:29:32
Actually Woodsville55.

I do agree that we probably should not have offered 5mil for Lambert, but we are desperate, and unfortunately Liverpool know that so had us over a barrel.

With regards to this season, Senderos looked decent when he was in the first team, remember we did not concede many with him at the back before his injury, as a free signing i thought he was good.

A few of the signings Lambert have made are crap, Lowton is a good player, but unfortunately Lambert has coached the skill out of him and made him look crap. He was 1st choice for a whole season before Lambert decided he didn't like him any more.

Weimann is also a good talent. You obviously don't see the running off the ball that he does and the fact that Lambert plays him on the wing every match. How is he supposed to score from there?

The problem is Lambert. Put another manager with a tactical brain in charge, not this cretin, and i'm sure that the player would blossom.

Lamberts best decision must be. no goals in 8 games, let's get rid of Bent and Robinson. clueless!!!!

Wish he would walk or get the sack, but more change of us singing Messi in the summer!

Agree13 Disagree2

03 Feb 2015 09:54:47
Yes I agree master V. Senderos looked decent at the start. I think the nail in the coffin for me for lambert was when we were 1-0 up against southampton and with 15 minutes left he takes off Sanchez and brings on bent. I don't think lambert could ever justify doing that.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Feb 2015 14:37:36
Think about the other side. Rickie Lambert has been told, we accepted an offer, you can go. and he has chosen to stay (I'm glad we didn't get him in, but that's not my point here). He now gets to go to practice every day, look at the team sheet each weekend, knowing they wanted rid of him anyway, knowing he is not wanted at the club that signed him in the summer. We talk about clueless, take a look at Rodgers. He has some sort of system (supposedly) that he likes, and signs all kinds of players that don't fit into it. Balotelli, Lambert etc.

Agree8 Disagree1

06 Feb 2015 16:57:44
The point is SPfister9, I'm not interested in the other side or in Brendan Rogers or in how Rickie Lambert gets on at Liverpool knowing the club wanted to get rid of him
Got more on my mind with Villa at the moment mate

I am hearing that villa have now gone in late for adebayor for 5 mil. Villa are desperate to bring a striker in and a attempt to bring lambert in from Liverpool is a no go. Lerner to sanction this move and 65000 a week wage.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

02 Feb 2015 19:33:25
Not heard this, but it is being reported that we have made a bid of £5 million for Rickie Lambert. Just heard Collymore on Talksport says he has it on good authority its not going to happen and Liverpool won't sell, but have also seen that Liverpool may be trying to sign Kevin Gameiro or Lavezzi from PSG which may pave the way for a deal.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed039's Note - Lambert would prefer to stay at Liverpool)

02 Feb 2015 21:12:42
Panic buying. We won't get him, do we want him. There is no structure to PL plans. I don't blame Lerner, PL has been able to bring players in but PL can't get the team playing, if u looked at Sunday we need players in all areas, if we created chances benteke may score. Should have gone for Lennon about a week ago.

Agree5 Disagree2

03 Feb 2015 19:45:24
I, m with Master villain. We knew from the stsrt of the season that we needed another striker; what do do ? Wait until the last day of the transfer window to make an offer for the wrong type of striker; predictably fail and arrange for Robinson to go out on loan in the meantime. Net result, we're even worse off than we we were in August
Totally clueless

I think the hope from the start of the season may well have also been that kozak would come back in October on schedule.

02 Feb 2015 18:15:34
5 hours to go and PL is stuffed by an owner with absolutely no interest in AVFC!
It looks like the manager is being hung out to dry by the owner to deflect blame from the owner. Our Villan is Lerner, he pays lip service to the manager but actually says nothing.
I am 100% certain that had PL had enough funds we would have had another striker sitting in VP already.
Benteke looks as though he now regrets his decision to stay at VP and quite happy to run away. But I forgot, he does not run any more.
We were let down at Arsenal by players that forgot what to do. The defence failed completely; don't tell me it was the fault of PL, players must stand up and be counted. Sunday we would not have reached 2 for effort on most of them.
PL now needs our backing, love or loath, if we are to have any chance of avoiding the drop.
If Lerner was to turn up, that is where your ire should be directed.

02 Feb 2015 19:14:20
Hi Oldvillan.
The same people read the Rumours as well as the Banter mate.
And I still think Lambert is very inept and out of his depth at VP.
Lerner has his faults granted, but Lambert has more input into the team than anyone.
Buying, Training, Formations, Tactics, Changes, Plans, and picking the team for the job.
Result : not good enough

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Feb 2015 21:24:36
Look I feel for lambert, do you think he would have left Norwich if he had of knowing he was going to be hung out to dry, right some of his signings have been shocking some decisions have been just as bad but can any of you guys tell me what he could have done to change the result yesterday before or during the game he is left to shop in the basement our quality of players are shocking, teams around us are spending money players don't even what to come to us on loan we are looking good to go down learner needs to take a lot of this blame it's quite simple if a carpenter has poor tools well expect poor carpentry

Agree3 Disagree1

02 Feb 2015 17:06:48
I'm as frustrated as every other villa fan but if lambert ain't got funds what can he do!!?? I saw we were linked with capoue from spurs and now I see the baggies in 4 him. as much as I don't really rate lambert I wouldn't like to be in his position

02 Feb 2015 20:39:45

Apparently Man Utd may recall Cleverley if we don't stump up the 7m and buy him today! Don't see how that would benefit anyone but not having to see him at Villa would be great!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

02 Feb 2015 18:22:15
We have to keep him as Utd can't move him anywhere else and don't want to pay him. He will sign for free in the summer to any club that wants him. Hopefully it will not be Villa.
