Where did this rumor start?? he`s about 7 years too old for lambert! he's looking for kids not oap1s in football ages

Lassana Diarra to old? He's 27 lol. PL has already said he needs to add experience! You p**nk

Rumours suggest Randy Lerner will keep Benteke & Weimann on at Villa Park even if the club are relegated. If Lerner decides to sell up with the club's two prized assets its expected Lambert will resign from the club.
Believable16
Unbelievable7
I think weimann could be playing for a top four team soon his potential is unbelievable. Arsenal need a goalscorer he has technical abililty, I think he will end up there
Agree5
Disagree10
I honestly agree.
I think Benteke & Weimann will stay at B6 IF we stay up though.
Gabby & Benty upfront in the Championship is enough for promotion!
Agree6
Disagree6
Bent won't stay but even delfoneso and gabby are better than 3/4 of strikers in that league. Albrighton needs to be sold though. Maybe a straight swap for Nathan Redmond or give them 2 mil on that deal
Agree6
Disagree3
Albrighton is a quality player he just needs a good run of games to get match fit. Look at what he did for us under MON the man was a boss.
Agree8
Disagree5
Redmond is totally overrated.
Albrighton was fantastic under Houllier & that's why we sold 2 wingers not 1 because we saw Albrighton as good as Downing.
He just needs some games!

What is very frustrating is that every week PL gives the same post match comments, "we deserved more, blah, blah, blah" Arsenal batterd us when it went 1-1 and ended up having 20 odd shots on goal. PL is delusional.
Believable28
Unbelievable8
Tbf to him he's been dealt a duff card with this squad.
Agree12

Oh you disagree with me please state how this squad is good then
Agree10
Disagree5
Didn't think so
Agree3
Disagree7
The Squad still has more quality than: Norwich, Sunderland, West Ham, Wigan, Reading, Southampton, Swansea, Stoke, West Brom. So your statement that PL has been hard done to is rubbish. VTID
Agree5
Disagree9
We have got the worst central midfield in the league, the worst left back in the world, and a team who can't defend set-peices. That's how are squad is bad.
Agree10
Disagree3
Lack of strength in depth is our downfall. Lambert has done well imo
Agree8
Disagree2
Lack of depth in the squad has always been our downfall! Even when we were properly pushing for champions league our back up strikers were heskey and delfouneso!
Agree12

Yes your club has quality as you say, that's why you are perched down just above the drop zone, And I hope you make up the three that are going down QPR READING AND VILLA

Aston Villa to sell Benteke to Man City for 25m if we stay up randy lerner will add 5m to that giving us a total of 30m with 10 going towards Wilfred Bony and then we will sign another CB AND CAM
Believable6
Unbelievable26
Am I the only one that thinks he's not worth this much, he's a good player with a bright future, but 30mill? be suprised if he's worth more than 15
Agree9
Disagree4
A 22 year old with pace and strength, 15 goals in his first season with 3 years left on his contract and he isn't worth more than 15?
i think you may have to look at what other teams are spending on strikers and realise the going rate for what could be a 20 goals a season striker.
Agree9
Disagree7
If he wants to stay and repeat this season he shall definatley be worth more than 25
Agree6
Disagree5
Grant holt 2 goals in 17 games and in his 30's still worth 5 mil tells anyone benteke is worth more than 15 mil
Agree4
Disagree1
Benteke is worth no more than £15 million, probably less. And if Villa get relegated that value will drop
Agree7
Disagree8
I think it's more likely when villa get relegated not if
Agree5
Disagree6
Did he play yesterday then,? you are all on cloud coockoo land, £15mil what a joke, you are as good as down and he will be off in the summer
Agree7
Disagree3
Benteke has scored 5 goals in the belgium league 15 league goals and 3 cup goals eqaling 23 goals this season
Agree5
Disagree0
Benteke has used Villa as a spring board, he will show no Loyalty when a big club like Man city or man u or any of the top 6 come calling when Villa go down, even the loyal, est of villa fans must be thinking relegation is unavoidable and a mass exidus of first team players, just wake up and smell the coffee
Agree8
Disagree6
Lambert tried to use Villa as a springboard but is going to belly flop straight into the championship
Agree7
Disagree3
How are Villa as good as down, level on points with Wigan? We just need to win the games, on paper, we should and we'll be fine.
Agree5
Disagree1
There is still 30 points possible to play for. If we lose to Reading & QPR - then we'll go down, if we at least win one & draw the other - Long live the Villa in the EPL!

Benteke to join Spurs for 25m.
Lambert will then splash 9m on Wilfried Bony & will have funds to add to fund a 40m summer transfer kitty (if we stay in the EPL).
If we face relegation, Benteke will be sold along with Given & no money reinvested & will push the next season for the Championship title.
Believable3
Unbelievable22
Yeah sign bony then he can leave after a season the main problem Is players like benteke can see the club has absolutely no ambition and want to leave! We need a new owner yes mr learner has spent a lot and got our club in a position were we are fighting for our lives so big deal if you don't wanna spend anymore move on and let someone who wants some success take over!
Dave80
Agree14

With Benteke its not a matter of our ambition. He will be able to go straight into a top four side and would leave whether we were trying to push up the table or not.

Tro Deeney is a blue Noses he even has a tattoo he hates the Villa
Agree0
Disagree1
The blues tatoo on his leg? yes he does but doesn't hate the villa! his little bro ellis is villa and he is more concerned about moving closer to his young family who still live in chelmsley wood, with him commuting unless he stays in his flat in watford away from his gf and kid.
Agree3
Disagree0
Deeney used to play for Villa in the youth academy but we dropped him.
Agree2
Disagree1
No he never he played for local team 3 c's then went to chelmsley town where he was picked up by walsall who then let him out on loan before sacking their manager who brought him back to the club and stated playing him, when he started scoring watford bought him for a fee believed to be £500,000. never been on villa books that was his younger brother left back ellis deeney, come on get your fact right.
Agree2
Disagree4
Or maybe you should get your facts right. He was on villas books until he was 15, after that we let him go where he was picked up by Chelmsley Town. Both Deeney's have been on villas books. I suggest you do your research before trying to rubbish someone else comment.
Agree5
Disagree0
Again he was never on the villa books, he left 3c's and went straight to chelmsley town both local teams within a mile of his school archbishop grimshaw where he progressed to the adults team and then got picked up late 17/18.
Agree1
Disagree1
All this debate is pointless he is a nose end of!
Agree0

Lee hendrie was a nose, didn't stop him playing for the villa. if a player has ambition to go to a club with better players! who can rule deeney to villa out if we stay up and they don't come up.

With Benteke's agent preparing the ground for a move for our brilliant young striker, what is the likelihood of our chairman doing a Daniel Levy and refusing to sell?
If he does sell, how can he (with any sincerity) claim to have any type of ambition for Villa?
I can understand the principal of putting a block on signings of the magnitude of the Bent deal but only if we subsequently hang on to the successful signings we make at the other end of the financial scale.
Mendax
Believable5
Unbelievable3
If we go down he goes, if we stay up he goes. Unfortunately we are a selling club, with limited ambitions. The MON era was never sustainable this period was inevitable following our attempts and subsequent failures to land Champs League. I wish Benteke all the best and who can blame him for wanting join a club with a chance of trophies. VTID

Depressing isn't it
Mendax
Agree3

Why couldn't villa do what swansea did with michu and tie him down for 5-6 years straight away
Agree6
Disagree0
Its just the agent doing his job and creating a bigger market for his client.
If we stay up, we really need to show some ambition and find a decent buy or two in the middle of the pitch.
Create a supply chain to Benteke so he is getting plenty of touches.
Our midfield is beyond woeful
Agree4
Disagree0
A 5 or 6 year contract don't mean he will remain at one club for the whole of his contract, he won't remain Loyal, you Villa fans must learn that if your manager does not believe in loyalty to his contract how can he expect the players to be, Even if you stay up Benteke will be gone before the new season K/O
Agree1
Disagree2
A 5-6 year contract would mean we could keep him for 3 years and still sell at a massive profit.
where as at the end of the season villa can force another year but as soon as Benteke gets 2 years left he'll be gone as to still maximise the revenue
Agree0
Disagree2
We signed him on a 4 year deal anyway! Also it's not the end of the world if goes is it. Let's face it, he's missed as many as he's scored, a few that springs to mind is the first leg against Bradford costing us a date at Wembley so let's stop making out he's some sort of hero because he ain't!
Agree4
Disagree1
We could do with the money and bring in 3 or 4 quality players in!
im sure lambert will have options to replace him aswell.
Agree2
Disagree0
Is that not the logic that lead us to losing the likes of Barry, Milner and Young and gaining the likes of Sidwell, Nzogbia and Ireland?
Benteke was an absolute bargain. It doesn't necessarily follow that all Lambert buys will come off so spectacularly. Joe Bennett being a case in point
The only way we can hope to progress as a club is if, when we do pull a rabbit out of the hat, we hang on to it and try to repeat the trick
Mendax
Agree4
Disagree0
Yes but one the other hand do we really want players in our side that express an interest in leaving for arsenal a month after joining us?
Agree0
Disagree0
Benteke’s alleged love of Arsenal does not seem to have affected his performances
I am sick and tired of us losing good players based on the maxim that “ you can’t keep an unhappy player”
Exactly how unhappy can you be on 30-40 K a week?
Does anyone really think for example that if we had refused to sell Milner, that after a slight period of unsettlement he would not have simply got on with his job and City would, eventually, have moved on to other targets?
My point is, the unhappy player theory is somewhat overstated
As fans we are making it far too easy for Lerner to sell off our prized assets
We need to demand better from the club
Mendax
Agree1
Disagree0
If he wants to stay then brilliant, if he don't then he should go, we at the club need a influx of players who want to play for the club and help the club climb up the table!
up the villa
Agree1
Disagree1
If we get £30m for Benteke i'm happy.
BUT we have to buy quality again & get some more players who can be as good as Benteke.
But on the other hand - Benteke might want to stay another year & Villa can do that, small-ish wages & a 4 year contract as it stands.
Agree1
Disagree1
And what pedigree have we shown in recent years as far as investing the money we get from selling our best players?
Absolutely none
Lerner wants out and until he gets what he wants he is determined to recover every penny of his investment

Villa are still on the look-out for bargain buys from the Championship with Cardiff City's Matthew Connolly recently under scrutiny. Villa had a scout at Huddersfield Town's John Smith's Stadium on Saturday to see a goalless draw between the Tykes and Championship leaders Cardiff in which Connolly, 25, impressed. This guy anygood ed? {Ed001's Note - came through the Arsenal system, technically sound but not sure he is top class.}

Lambert saying we need 6 wins ( 5 after today), but think we need 3 more and 4 draws. 3 wins to come against Reading, QPR and Fuham. Draws to come against Liverpool, Arsenal, Wigan, and Norwich. Still think we could push up to 14th place or above.
Believable3
Unbelievable3
Might have won today but defensively we were still appalling and it only the fact that west ham are as poor as we are that we won. I still think we will go down.
Agree4

Why do you think we're going down? We have a better chance of the three below us as the league don't lie. Sick off all the negative rubbish coming from you lot on this site!

We are going to get relegated, get used to it

All the excitement is at the bottom of the league this year, Fulham, Sunderland and Norwich in 12th, 13th and 14th place, would you bet your house they are safe? or QPR at the bottom on 17 points, would you bet your house they will be relegated.
I do not support Villa, but who do you Villa fans think will be relegated?

Qpr reading and Wigan

I could possibly see norwich and sunderland getting dragged into the fight. think newcastle will def be safe, made some cracking signings and have cabaye and tiote back. shame we didn't get sissoko

How can a team be def safe if they are only 3 points are above us?/
Agree2

Norwich can easily be dragged in, with a few good results, by picking up some unpredicted points, we could help our cause by not taking down to the wire.

Any chance of someone being positive on here for a change you take the rough with the smooth a win against west ham could kick start a move up the table having seen the other teams around us there is no way we should be in the bottom three so have some faith and remember it could be worse you could be a bluenose
Believable16

Its West Ham you are playing, all those long high balls into the box. Andy Carrol against your defence, looks like you will have to wait until next week for a kick start.

But our strike force has clicked and soon shall the midfeild and defence.
n lambert I trust!
Agree8
Disagree8
I kind've agree with what's been said. we do need to stop having a go, I def think lambert is the man for us and like how he's trying to play. we've been unbelievably unlucky with injuries (especially christmas period), but saying that squad size really came to the top of my mind. I thnk our attacking play is really start to show promise. our major weakness is set pieces, we need to stop giving away free kicks so close to our box because we can't defend them at all. I knew fellaini would punish us from 1 last week, just gutted I was right. i'll be honest, I never expected anything from that game so to come away with a point we've got to be atleast a bit happy. we got 2 tough games after the hammers but 3 points sunday would give us a little bit of much needed confidence.
Agree1
Disagree6
Hi you Villa fans, West Ham fan here been reading with interest your negative comments and thoughts, if your team play with the way the fans are thinking then thanks 3 point for the super Hammers. Get a grip it will be a hard battle for both teams and possibly a 0-0 draw or a sneaky 1-0 win either way, but let's be honest it is probably unlikely that neither of us will go down. Good luck Villa but maybe not on Sunday lol.

Believable4
Unbelievable27
We brought him 4 7m so your having a laugh really I reckon his worth 15-18m even more with 3 years left on his contract
Agree10

So the rumour is you have a friend, who supports Arseanal? Clowns like you should look at the amount of goals he has scored and maybe should watch the games he plays in before making rubbish comments that he is only worth 3 or 5 mil.

This is a bored baggies fan see you in the relegation fight soon, your club has gone from well ran to a joke in a matter of weeks
Agree5

No wrong not a Baggie, but agree they will join you in the relegation battle, Which you will be set to lose sorry, can't see you getting out of the mess your in,
Agree3
Disagree5
If we stay up benteke is worth 30mil. With 3 years left. Imagine him in the Chelsea team with all that service, he would be perfect for that set up. If he does go get bony or aubemayang in
Agree6
Disagree5
Haha 30 million when Demba Ba went for 8, wake up dreamboat.
Agree4
Disagree8
Again more clowns, Ba went for 8ish million because of a release clause in his contract. Once a player wants to go (tapped up by more money), its not worth keeping him if his heart and head is not in the fight. The clause was down to his agent not rating the Toon as a big club and the Toon not rating him highly enough as it said he had a few niggles during the medical also. Benteke does not have a release clause and still has three years on his contract.
Agree5
Disagree2
Thats because Ba had a clause in his contract, and really 3 million. He's scored 14 goals for a team in 19th. He would go for 20m.
He will defo go, if we go down. We are a selling club, can't change that
Agree3
Disagree1
Demba Ba had a release clause you nitwit
Agree6
Disagree0
Demba-Ba had a release clause written into his contract of 8 million, so no club needed to pay any more. Benteke hasn't and that's the difference. he's worth a minimum of 15 million and if a club like Man City come in for him, up to mid-20's.
Agree4
Disagree2
And as said before He has now said he wants to go in the summer, Lambert won't be able to keep him
Agree0
Disagree0
He can't speak English. But yeah he probably will go and good on him. He could keep us up and earn us some extra cash
Agree0
Disagree0
Benteke will go for about £10 million and like most transfers in the Premiership, it will be paid over 12 months.
Agree2

Arsenal fans have forgotten the cost of buying quality, not sure whether Benteke will leave us for Arsenal, or any other Europa league team on the slide.

Aston Villa failed in a beat-the-deadline mission to bring in out-of-favour Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios, but did manage to land Tottenham's Simon Dawkins before the window closed.
Believable2
Unbelievable3
Simon Dawkins. Do we really need another striker, especially one on loan. This just signals how bad shape were in as a club. We seem to have left it to the last minute and as usual haven't strengthened significantly where it's needed. What's has happened to our scouting system looking for players. Oh that's right. Lambert dismantled it and the scout we had in Germany looking for players quit. Great, just great. Thanks a bunch.
Agree5

Dawkins will be a good asset actually because he can play practically anywhere!
Agree1

Dawkins will play as an attacking midfield. Bit like Gabby, when he feels like it.

He's a lm/ lw.

Dawkins plays lm or behind the striker. So I can see us finally playing 4-4-2 Dawkins lm nzogbia on his favoured right

Have heared a rumour that from next season loan players will no longer be allowed
Agree0

Dawkins will not even get in the starting 11, he'll be lucky to get on the bench lol he's been signed on loan as cover, gabby is more likely to play as a LM than dawkins. Pointless signing as far as I'm concerned! >Scg87
