Heard rumour of Villa still interested in Diago Rolan, his club appear to have money problems ( don't we all ) I think he would be a good signing, scored 15 last season .we sill need a RB, I was hopeing Amavi, had a twin brother who played on the right, you can only wish

Believable1 Unbelievable6

31 Aug 2015 00:08:36
seen a few rumours today saying that the adebayor deal is dead so thank god for that. also, I've looked at sherwood's recent comments about gabby and I reckon he also knows the bloke has lost it - if he believed in him on the pitch wouldn't he back up the players ability and say the goals will come? saying that he is a major part in the back room shows to me that sherwood sees him more as a motivator and not a player who have an effect for us. it is sad to see gabby go down this far in his goal scoring but everyone has there day I guess no matter what loyalty they show to a club.

The Sun have us and Spurs looking at stealing Bafetimbi Gomis from Swansea. Apparently he has a release clause of just £7m in his contract. Would love this to be true as he is a great player.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

30 Aug 2015 16:43:08
Hahaha no way we have no money left unless we sell and no 1 wants our deadwood

30 Aug 2015 17:17:58
more chance of us doing a ayew brother swap

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Aug 2015 19:44:51
Why would he leave swansea for villa

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Aug 2015 19:55:50
Can someone tell me why gomis would leave swansea, who have a great setup, a very well run team, for us? Who at moment are not exactly offering a awful. Sorry but that's the hard truth.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2015 08:25:03
If he was on 30k a week at Swansea and we offered him 60 k he,d come without taking a second look at the table.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Aug 2015 11:17:46
He is 30 years old and will be looking for a last big pay day. He was signed from Lyon as a backup to Bony so doubt he is on very big wages, if he was then the clause would be higher than 7m. He did sign on a free though so who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2015 12:31:20
get Bony from man city

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2015 17:40:38
We won,t get Bony for the exact reverse of the argument that says we might get Gomis

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2015 18:29:58
Yes I know but he's a lot better player

I hear that there is a bug going round the training ground.
Sherwood says that it he has had to send 2 players home.
Hope its Gabby and Hutton.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2015 22:08:03
Hope it's not as bad as the bug that hit villa last season, funny enough was around this time of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 23:44:29
From viewing the pics of the lads training on the official site I can't see Gabby at all

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 07:12:45
Of course you can't see gabby. Did you not realise when a game of footie starts he seems to disappear. Sure look at the last three league matches. For the whole 90 mins in each match he managed to disappear. It is some trick when 40,000 plus thousand are there watching lol. David Copperfield will be asking him for advice soon.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Aug 2015 09:55:03
Gabby posted 'sometimes wishes come true' or something like that on his Twitter Thursday night and then took it down quite quickly. Maybe a reference to being ill and knowing he will miss the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 18:03:31
Lescott deal seems to be done pending Jonny Evans move to Baggies.
Also according to BBC Rolling Transfer page Villa's net spend so far this window is £7.1m. 5th lowest. I guess Mr Lerner could have banked the money from CB and Snake sales though instead of passing it on to TS.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2015 19:06:00
Hope lescot deal is done, need experience, command and a bit of quality, forget goal celebrations etc etc but baggies business is worse than letting us get lescot, regards net spend who cares apart from ayew looks struggling to adapt the rest of signings look very good, don't forget the out lay for Big Ben and a**hole snake is a nice word,I'm sure it was 9.5 Delph and 7/8 Ben so RL and let's think not just last 3 seasons the whole time since been owner that guy spent in 2yrs MON was in charge around 150 mil I think, plus messy divorce where his ex took half his earnings,he has done us proud this year :)

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 19:38:21
Yes we have spent money and the team looks stronger; but what worries me is that the other teams predicted for relegation have not sold their best players and their net spends are a lot higher than ours. Hopefully more then just Lescott comes in this weekend.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 20:19:15
Why aren't we signing Evans and leaving lescott where he is???

Agree2 Disagree3

28 Aug 2015 23:02:01
Because Evans is S**t!

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 23:02:46
Because we need some experience at the back; Lescott is a better player than Evans and he is costing about 4-5 million quid less
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 23:24:24
8 million for Evans is a joke - I would be mortified if we had paid that for him.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 23:46:18
We sold best 2 players already, there's still few days to go window,Sunderland IMO is a cert for relegation,Baggies hope they get Evans and lose Barrahino, lescot to us they will be weaker by far,few days left to see which team become weaker losing there best, least we lost ours early had time scout etc etc,it's early days and some stupid decisions on pitch but 2 points dropped at palace and we was wrote off at Bournemouth,no doubt Man Utd home aswell!! So let's smash Sunderland weekend which we will as long as TS doesn't field 10 men inc Gabby, needs dropping then we win

Had six starts and 11 substitute appearances for Villa. Did not score one goal or provide one assist. Main career lowlight was his 7 game ban for racial abuse. Presumably he was handsomely paid for this comedy performance .

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - As a Celtic supporter I'd just like to echo those sentiments, good riddance to bad rubbish.}

28 Aug 2015 20:57:45
Should of had his contract terminated the second he was found guilty of racial abuse. Glad he's gone

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 02:23:08
The roma attacking mid will not be joining aston villa! Libor kozak turned down celtic to fight for he's place at villa. And villa have to sell before we can buy! Lescott will join if we sell players! Villa won't be buying another striker as ayew will adopt a more central role! Tonev has been released an is also leaving no fee there! There you have it people all that from people in the know!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2015 06:59:17
Ayew is going to adapt to play a more central role? That same position that he has played the three games for us already?
Kozak turned down a move, then played on Tuesday night. (Two days ago!)
Tonevs time was up last season when was loaned out, and done for his racism!
Lescott will join, as every paper has said for last two weeks.

You truly are an oracle sir. Your people in the know certainly tell you top secret information.

The deal for Lilajic [ sorry for bad spelling ] is belived to be worth 13.5 million. After this TS will spend 18 miliion on Aymen Abeddenour from Monaco, as newcastle are only willing to pay 15 million for him.
Personally i think that might be the end of our summer spending, but would love to see us sign destro for 6m from Roma

Believable0 Unbelievable5

26 Aug 2015 15:09:48
I think bolonga would have something to say about destro as they signed him last week

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 15:12:36
I'm hearing if we get the deal done for the boy from roma we will go for lescot and michu. If not then the defender from Monaco and a cheeky 10 mil last day bid for Austin.

Agree0 Disagree2

26 Aug 2015 15:34:48
I think you might find that Abeddenour if off to Valencia and the rumoured fee for Ljajic was around £6-7 million. or preferably a loan with option to buy

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 15:39:14
Nice to see us linked with all of these good players but I believe Destro has already joined Bologne

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 15:53:48
Please do your homework
Destro has signed for bologna an villa are not interested in ljajic we have enough players of that ilk. We have grealish Gil Sinclair ayew traore Robinson who are attacking midfielders a centre forward a right back a centre half an a keeper is what we need!

Ljajic will be coming on a season loan with option to buy at end. The monaco boy is interesting valencia but nothing in place with them. I've herd we have been looking at babacar again as striker option. Lescot I think will arrive as well on 2 year deal.

I have been calling for defoe or hernandez for weeks now, 3 games in and timmy still hasn't realised this I think it's going to be a long season but he will get it right maybe not in this window, defoe scored 3 tonight his movement is great still a good age has lots of pace and a proven prem player,

26 Aug 2015 06:46:15
Johnny Evans is average who would you replace for him Clark-no okore-no Richards-no agree we need another cb to push Richards to RB but for me Johnny Evans wouldn't get in before Clark or okore!! Don't get me wrong he can be great on his day but for me average would rather see lescott there for a season

don't know about anyone else but I don't want lescott anywhere near our club. yes he has experience but the chap is 33 years old meaning his legs are gone and I haven't rated him for the past 3 years. yes so he supported villa when he was growing up then why is it whenever he scored against us he always over-celebrated (remember that back flip he did in the 3-2 away win at Everton-god I love that game). also if I recall when he moved to baggies we were also interested in bringing him in yet he binned us off. getting the feeling that lescott isn't in pulis's plans and he is trying to ride the train with "oh but I've always loved the club and supported them as a boy"
I don't care why bring in lescott when we already have 4 CB's with hopefully abdennour coming in. WHY GET CLARK & BAKER ON NEW DEALS IF HE WANTED A NEW CB ANYWAY?????
thoughts?????

Believable0 Unbelievable2

25 Aug 2015 05:41:15
Yeah he celebrated, but don't some villains sing the bus song at him??red rag to bull etc?as for slow and legs gone, check out his stats from the last 2 years, not too shabby!i would take him because his experience gives him a 5 to 10 yard advantage, and what about all the little dark arts he can teach Clark, baker et all,for me priceless, and he'd be a calming influence on the pitch and in the changing room, the boys got class, and you can't buy class,he'll be worth every penny, and help Micah to become a better player and captain because of the mutual respect there, you'll end up thinking how we got by without him in a few months time, believe!! Oh yeah just to confirm you thinking I'm another spoon head on here,''Mourinho's just a Portuguese imitation of Tim Sherwood!!!''champion league 2 years away,BELIEVE IN STEVE!!!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree2

If John Terry is surplus to defensive requirements at Stanford Bridge, perhaps he’d care for a loan spell shoring up our central defence – anyone adept at scything down Albion strikers gets my vote .

Turned down a new contract at West Brom, wants to join Villa.
£1m deal once West Brom sign a defender.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

25 Aug 2015 11:56:32
According to Talksh1t, "West Brom are targeting Manchester United's Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans, 27, in their sights as defender Joleon Lescott, 33, is told he can leave The Hawthorns" The question is, should we be targeting Evans rather than Lescott?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 07:50:41
I'm being told this morning we will be spending around another 30 million this window. 15 on the cb from Monaco and 15 to 20 on a proven goalscorer at the top level were the words used. Tim is looking to sell up to 5 players raising 10 to 15 million. This means lerner or someone is willing to put about another 20 million in. That would still only be a net spend of 20 to 25 million with all the ins and outs so let's pray this comes off I say.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

24 Aug 2015 10:18:22
Would love this to be true but can't see it happening.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 11:19:07
I would have to doubt this based on the fact that there isn't a chance of anywhere near £10 million being raised for the deadwood Sherwood wants out.

What I would say is net spend so far is approximately £5 million and RL has generally provided £20m of transfer kitty each year.

I would expect that Lescott will be the CH at around £2.5m. don't believe the link to the Monaco CB to be honest. that would leave funds (hopefully) for a goal scorer

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Aug 2015 14:25:43
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have to sell to buy. TS coming out and saying so just seems like another case of blowing smoke, may be keep prices down. Doesn't really seem like his style to show his hand, so while he's hoping to move players on I don't think he'd be telling the press his financial/transfer situation.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Aug 2015 15:33:03
How I've missed you kingvilla!!

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 15:34:47
Transferleague.com has our net spend over the last five years totalling £31.65m and £6.3m a season. I think our business is done unless TS works magic and gets mega bucks for our outcasts.

Agree1 Disagree2

24 Aug 2015 15:50:12
Ok ill show my hand a bit here. I'll tell you for certain that two more will definitely come in.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Aug 2015 16:08:33
Is one of them Rodwell because he is definitely coming every year KV?

I would hazard a guess that you know no more than the rest of us.but fair enough I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 arrivals before the window closes.

1 being Lescott and the other being a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 00:12:11
don't know if I'm being too ambitious here but I have a feeling that we might be in for berahino. if you think about it logically, he is young & english and a goal scoring BPL proven ST. seems like a sherwood-esc kind of buy and with all the rumours we have been linked with it wouldn't surprise me if we were one of the clubs knocking on the door. know we are going up against Spurs who are a much bigger attraction but you never know.
thoughts????

Believable3 Unbelievable4

24 Aug 2015 05:26:59
Apparently Tony Pulis has said that 15 teams are interested in signing him, so it wouldn’t surprise me. I’m not sure we have the financial clout to ward off 14 other teams and they might be reluctant to sell to us being rivals. If we can get him at a reasonable price, I think it would be a good acquisition. We need someone who is very quick to partner Gestede/Kozak and make us more effective on the counter attack - like a good version of gabby!

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Aug 2015 14:58:53
how many young and english players did TS buy to make you thing he's after young and english??? Your just plucking a ST out of the air.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 16:18:19
if I recall ruggerz- sherwood mentioned earlier in the window that he is looking for english players but is being priced out of them. I would say that bringing in berahino (BPL goal scorer) for let's say around 20 million isn't really asking for to high of a price or pricing him out(considering how much a BPL proven goal scorer is worth in today's market eg benteke & bony went for over 25 million). everyone wants austin to come in(including me) but I believe that spending the extra 8/10 million on someone like berahino is worth it due to his age & ability to develop and let's be honest get one over the baggies.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 22:44:42
Austin and Tjarron Chery both scored twice today; we decided against Chery but not to late for Austin. Lerner please let TS spend some money and buy a goalscorer, our net spend is bugger all and Championship teams are spending 10m on players and some of our rivals are spending a lot more.

Austin won't pass a medical he has no ligaments in his right knee, but he is a gamble worth taking just not at 15m

23 Aug 2015 12:18:32
I think if tekkers was worth 32, he worth 15 at least

Agree1 Disagree2

23 Aug 2015 12:37:22
Austin started 35 league games last season so his knee can't be that bad. He also passed a medical at QPR after the one he failed. The contact's TS has at QPR he should know if it is an issue or not. I just want a decent goalscoring replacement for Gabby, don't really care who it is. Saw on MOTD last night that Newcastle's NET spend is now 48m, makes our business so far look very tame.

Agree1 Disagree5

22 Aug 2015 17:38:57
I love sherwood with all my heart but today he got it completely wrong- first half in some portions of the game we had palace on the ropes and should have pushed for that goal. second half palace outclassed us no-denying but why would you bring off the rock when he was our best player??? no attacking threat yet again which is a major concern of mine and let's be fair our goal was luck(fantastic run but lucky none the less) and sako's goal has just pounded into me that we do need a new GK. guzan is a good shot stopper but I don't feel confident when he comes to collect crosses and he can't dispurse a ball at all.
I have posted a few times about how gabby has seemingly gone through a sex change over the last 5 years and is no where near good enough but jesus he is awful- I know he is a villa legend but I don't care move him on.
a great example would be lampard who is the best player chelsea have ever had yet they let him go when they knew he was off the pace and they wanted to bring through a new generation(bit like what's going on with us)
the bloke has to leave our club or not play any more games because he literally offers nothing - WHY BRING IN AYEW AND SINCLAIR WHEN YOU ARE going to PLAY GABBY (WHO SCORES 4 EVERY YEAR) INSTEAD. FEEL LIKE THE CLUB THINK WE LOVE HIM BUT LET'S BE FAIR WE HAVE KNOWN HE IS PANTS FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS

Believable5 Unbelievable1

22 Aug 2015 18:28:07
Totally agree ayew needs games and should start he's a striker not a winger should av save 10m added 5m and got austin if we're not using him
In 4 seasons gabby has score about 17 goals that is awful return
Sher wood got it completely wrong today I am worried

Agree1 Disagree3

22 Aug 2015 19:47:05
Got to agree and I said to my mate begining season Gabby should be bench impact player when oppo defenders tired he could then do some damage, today's result was blame on both not just Guzan,Amavi shouldn't done 1 on 1 although Guzan put him in awkward position, strikers were all talking about yep, well Wilson who we was linked month or so ago I think would fit villa with new signings, not just because today banging in hatrick I've watched all 3 bournemouths games that guy works his a** off and shown glimpses so far,I understand it might be a gamble unproven in EPL but if we get him Bournemouth will be weaker and then with Sunderland we might only have to worry about 1 relegation spot lol

Agree3 Disagree1

22 Aug 2015 22:35:26
Bournemouth will not sell Wilson for same reason Watford wouldn't sell Deeney or Ighalo (both look decent), not getting relegated will make them £££ more than any sale would. Shame as he is a good young prospect (got him in my fantasy team); unless Ayew comes good this week I'm putting my hat in the Austin camp.

Agree2 Disagree1

gabby is rubbish. he will continue to not score goals as he has done for 4 years. I've never seen a player keep his place in a team for so many years under so many different managers and not to do his job. he must score hundreds of goals in training. also afraid of tim like lambert over rating Ashley westwood. don't need 3 in midfield that just limits the attacking options. 2 could do the job. if we bring in a striker and get the formation right I still think we have good enuf players to make an impact this season and push on. but if gabby starts all season we will not score. simple as.

Any team will sell if the price is right unless (buy outs) fee release,We was linked with Wilson month, month half ago for around 8-10 mil my mem serves me right so now after his 3 games may well be over inflated price say 12-15 mil, personally I would take that any day over Austin,2 failed medicals over knee issues apparently 15mil,surely by now he would of been snapped up if that quality and potential there's obviously something there clubs reluctant to buy +wages

Gabby is no legend just a faithful loyal servant to the fans, club we have had our legends yrs gone bye but there's only so much now you can keep playing a player out of form out of sorts in EPL,time to drop to bench shake him up maybe,I know it's controversial with so many fans but points make prizes, can't afford to be playing 10 men week in week out on pitch

Agree5 Disagree0

23 Aug 2015 13:07:09
I agree with everyone Gabby is not good enough anymore.
We need a proven scorer in the premiership.
Remy, Austin, Hernandez.
A new GK may also be needed, Guzan year after year makes mistakes with distribution of the ball.
Everytime it gets passed back to him i get worried.

22 Aug 2015 17:04:17
Sorry Tim, why take off the player who was breaking up Their play ? Leave on a player who besides, missing a goal because he didn't know what foot to use., made same mistake later when put through, gave away silly fouls & is now nowhere near the player he was .Iv supported Gabby for years, but now is the time for him to step aside .come on Tim do us all a favour .

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 20:57:16
I've been thinking for a couple of weeks Michu would be a good signing. Much better than Berbatov or Adebayor. TS at Wolves last night so could have been scouting either Afobe or Austin

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 21:05:08
I can't see this happening.
Not good enough on current form and fitness.
Plenty of other options out there.
Nzogbia and Senderos on there way out.
Bristol City are after NZogbia.

I hope TS looks at Hernandez or Remy.
We need a proven goalscorer, squad is good and improved but what happens when we have injuries or our new signings have problems settling!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 16:12:02
Bacuna just signed a 5 year extension. Think TS is going to keep him at right back, so can't see us buying anyone for there. He's going to have his dodgy moments, as Villa fans, don't get on his back the second he slips up, given time & coaching he could be a right sided Amavi, exciting times 👍🏻

Believable3 Unbelievable1

20 Aug 2015 16:09:20
15 million and 80K a week is hardly a 'gamble'. Austin has done it for one season and for me he lacks pace.
TS with his signings seems to want pace and power in all areas. Benik Afobe from The Dingles fits the bill perfectly and a great age.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Aug 2015 21:07:50
Austin has an underlining knee injury. He failed a medical at Hull before going to QPR and £15m is a huge gamble IMO.
Very good player who will score goals but 27 now and on £70k+ a week would be a gamble.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 16:01:30
I think we are strong enough at right back when okore gets back fit I'm sure he will be pushing for a place, maybe then Richards will move out, bacuna and Hutton are alright going forward but with the bigger teams when we are under the cosh not great at defending, so I would push for a proven striker, I'm not convinced on Austin his price tag is to much for somebody who has only played 1 season in the prem, talk today that defoe isiant happy at Sunderland he has a pretty good ratio

seeing that newcastle are going out and signing these highly rated names for big fees I'm still wondering whether that marquee signing is coming. if you read into tim's recent press release he has said that the "balance of the side is getting a lot better" I'm reading that as more are going to leave with more coming in. i'm reading loads of BS linking us with every player under the sun but I've got a strong feeling that tim has someone/players in the work and is just waiting for these players to leave to bring them in. don't want to sound negative but every fan seems to be thinking that rudi will bag 15+ but what happens if that doesn't happen? still think a goal machine is needed and I reckon tim feels the same
thoughts????

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Aug 2015 02:27:30
i agree that a goal machine is needed. Rudy scored on his debut and i think he will bag a few more but to rely on him is madness. if him and gabby is our strikeforce then we may aswel throw in the towel now.

love the midfield we have and the defence just need 1 goalscorer and we will be flying.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 07:26:26
Wow just wow.what about Kozak? Ayew? Let the team gel. it's only been 2 games and was a promoted team and a team that has spent 100millions on players

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 08:30:09
Can you imagine Tim saying to randy. 'we need a striker. ' Because I cant. Rudy, kozak, ayew, gabby, even Sinclair, I'd rather we stuck with that and still left some opportunities for youth. I know Robinson has left on loan for 6 months, but let's not flood the team of new signings and leave no place for youth, and no place for the players we have purchased.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 09:43:41
gabby isn't going to start scoring goals now In his career. ayew has never been a prolific goal scorer. which leaves 2 big men. I don't want to seem negative because I think the team looks great and we have started the season well but if I had one concern it would be which of them strikers is going to score goals and what sort of partnership can be made with them. i'd say if we don't sign a striker jack and the midfield are going to need to score a lot of goals this season

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 09:58:31

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Definitely think letting Albrighton go was a mistake. just like letting Cahill go was a mistake. hopefully Sherwood has made/makes the signings to carry us forward, as he said about Delph and Benteke, they're gone now. Albrighton wasn't his decision anyhow.

It's been quiet since Traore came in (yes, I realize a whole 4 days!) Wondering if we'll do any more business before the close of the window.

I keep hearing all this about Gardner. But if he is meant be so good why is it he never made it yet and only team who seems be linked with him is forest.

Don't get me wrong hope he is good but at min I'm not fussed on him be honest and think we should give the new lads a chance to gel then show us what there all about

Agree2 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 22:58:06
Completely agree about the fuss with Gardner. He's 23 and to be honest if he hasn't made it by now, he isn't going to. I know he's had injuries but if he was as good as everyone seems to think he is he'd have been a key player by this age. He's played enough out on loan at championship level and hasn't exactly tore things up has he?

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 23:51:39
I have to say Albrighton has looked good in the opening games this season. But when his contract was up with us and he wanted more money, he wasn't in anywhere near the same form and hadn't been for a long time. At best he was a bench filler and he wasn't playing well enough to get games in a poor side. It was the right decision at the time to let him go, and its probably the change of scenery that's got him playing again.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 09:27:04
i said same for last year or so, everytime he seems to be just about to push 1st team he either gets injured or loaned out and when he is loaned out he never really sparks or looks great,

now as i said then i hope i'm wrong and he finally shows his potential and he bosses the midfield and we finally get a high class midfielder,

{Ed001's Note - he did well at Forest according to the fans on the Forest site here. They would love to get him back.}

seeing a few villa fans bite out at ayew because of friday and already saying that he is terrible. seeing rumours that if we went for berahino it would see ayew go the other way and personally don't wanna see that happen. need to give him time to adapt for us to create a relevant judgement - considering it was his 1st home game against united that is one of the biggest platforms and occasions to play in england and feel people should give him time.
thoughts?????

Believable7 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2015 19:48:03
Ayew will not be resold and will be given time to adapt. Doing anything is an admission of screwing up by spending 9m on him in the first place and makes all our recruitment guys look like idiots. TS will not do that in his first ever transfer window. Also, I think he will come good once given time. Was Benteke a beast after two games and low match fitness?

Agree5 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 20:08:06
other than me and you did no one else think he had an ok game, made a few good runs, drew a few fouls and if he got his shoot off right could have got a goal or two, yes he needs time and after a few games i think he might be a usefull impact player in few weeks

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Aug 2015 20:32:07
I think we will see more from ayew once gestede is fully fit. I think his movement and workmate is really good and he showed some nice touches. I think he could work off gestede's ariel ability and feed off knocks downs. There was once instance in the first half (can't remember why whistle went) but he made one of the anticipation runs into the box in case anything would come back off the keeper.

Its very difficult to get hold of a 15-20 season man, even benteke didn't do it regularly and we've only had angel since Yorke who has hit 20. As long as ayew comes up with 10 or so, we should have enough goals from elsewhere to make a difference. Let's be honest, we all wanna see some more goals from midfield anyway, as that's where we've struggled to make an impact.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 20:56:19
Ayew needs to be given a chance. 2 games is not a chance. I think you can see he wants to do well, haven't seen him go wandering or not try his all. Had he kept his shot down it would have been in the back of the net and we would be raving.

What is all this BS about the ManU fullback Darmian "brilliantly fooling" Micah Richards ?
From where I was looking, the idiot seems to have brilliantly distracted himself as Richards easily got away from him as the corner came in and was only prevented from scoring by a cynical and clear foul that should have led to a penalty
It seems the maxim " the victors write the history" is true.

The way the commentators were speaking at the end of the game was like we had been dominated for 90 minutes. They are supposed to be a top 4 side challenging for the title and the champions league and they managed 2 shots on target against us. Not to mention that on another day their deflection doesn't go in and we get a penalty and we walk away with the 3 points or at the very least a draw. The referee had an absolute shocker all the way through. Darmian should have got a yellow for that penalty decision that went against us too, which would have resulted in a red when the ref finally got his cards out towards the end of the game. If I was Sherwood I'd have told Richards to flatten him next time he started grabbing.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Aug 2015 22:31:21
Your absolutely hit the nail on the head there AndyVilla, the bias and ignorance from most commentators is unbelievable

They have been beating the anti villa drum for years now so hopefully the Villa can shut a few of them up and the whole Darmian putting Richards off is BS the fact is we don't feed into the narrative Sly and most try to pendle.

its not so much anti villa its that they're paid to commentate on man utd by man utds backers. football punditry is now biased towards the really big clubs. Still need another striker, a goal scorer. Can't see we have a 15 goal a season man at present. Let's hope we go in for destro.

Amavi was very good, pleased with gueye. Veretout ran out of steam but has good potential

i thought we was ok we could have done better but damn if last few years has shown us we can get hell lot worse. we need to either start rudy or get a striker in that's going to score, sinclair tourae ayew all wingers, gabby may have hit target tonight but he may have well have just caught it and passed it to the keeper. really liking amavi and gueye but not sure about veretout at minute

Agree Amavi was exciting going forward but oh dear Gabby! Showed so little and on the commentary hardly heard his name! Lacked creativity against a quite dodgy United side, missed opportunity but with the new striker, super Jack and Gil looking ok, we were never really overalled! What is it also about a foul in the box is not a penalty with grabbing of MR round the neck??!!!e

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 22:39:59
Got to agree with vertout out of all players brought in too me looks like he's struggling but early days, persistence may pay off,but gel wise so far I think weakest link new players, ayew wasn't great either but came into his own later game UTD,gana gaueye started to quick like the whole team but better we play pressing against mid table teams and we will be fine,we played hearts and warriors although scary to me if MAN Utd was on song our def formations set pieces would of been punished big time

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 22:41:11
Amavi was brilliant tonight, think it will take time for everyone to gel. Ayew was useless we definitely need a striker who's going to score 15+ a season, Charlie Austin? Think grealish adama and Gil and being got will benefit a lot!

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 22:43:15
Let's put this into perspective. In only our second game with a team of new players trying to gel we lost 0-1 to a Utd side that will click at some point and hammer teams. We didn't give them much during the game either. It's not like they had it all their on way.
I thought Avami was class. Westwood looked good and Richards looked after Rooney all night and gave him nothing. Gana did well and I think Veretout will prove a great buy. You can't judge him on only his 2nd game in England which happens to be against Utd in a midfield 3 against a midfield 5.
Bacuna is not a RB and that is the next position is look at. I think a front 3 could work but not with gabby down the middle. Keep the Faith, with Traorè and Grealish to come in we'll be ok.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 22:48:02
Amavi is a quality player. Gueye looks good and will get better. Vertout workman like at min. Reminds me of a young Barry. Ayew is worying me at mo as no real pace no trick not really a hold up player. Looks gabby like but slower. Big rudy will do well with service but we need gil jack and traore in asap and a mobile goalscorer along with a rb.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2015 02:51:38
To put it bluntly we were poor probably a lot to do with uncertainty between the players but that will improve as they get to know each other and gel, however Man Utd were no better and I think either one of the teams could have scored that goal. Still think Westwood is the main man for us.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Aug 2015 07:56:21

Got to agree about Gabby. Just doesn't have the nouse to play in the premier league. Watches play and then reacts. no ability to predict where knock-ons, etc, will go and where is the right space to go to.
As for Charlie Austin, scored 15 premier goals including 3 pens so hardly prolific.
Thought that there was lots of potential last night and after the last 3 years thought it was great to see us passing the ball forwards rather than square and backwards.

Bacuna is ok at right back. not amazing but the least of our worries i think.
Striker is a must. Gabby been terrible for years and we can't rely on Rudy Gestede to score all our goals. launching the ball to him was embarrassing. especially when chris smalling won like 70 percent of the battles in the air. I think Veretout has looked good too comfortable on the ball. I think we should have 2 in midfield doing the job that the 3 guys did very well in my eyes.
Id say ill get stick for dropping westwood but he did give the ball away in bad positions aswel as providing some of the best passes of the game. i'd just like to see gueye and veretout on their own to open up more attacking positions

classic 4-4-2 is needed and build from there

Gabby could be a good impact sub as he's still got the pace and can put the hurt on the opposition too.

Richards was monster tonight,Clark had easy game TBH,set pieces need to sort,NOT 1person has said about Bacuna tonight I thought he had pretty much solid game def/and pushing forward,no doubt Amavi, quality game,Richards strong everything, guayey was Def mid player but Westwood again in sung hero we probs forget about that player, ayew was mostly miss bit last 10 mins came into it and GANA was break up control for 1st 25 then last 80,we did play our nemisis tonight and showed power, control which is a first for times (match 4 match) normally it's been hit counter if we can,Personally I see big improvement strength just need special creativity which we have in our ranks now 👍👍

Only thing that worries me with this deal is the buy back within 3 years clause. If he plays amazing for 2 years then they say we want him back how much for. Surely not the money we paid as he would be worth much more if becomes a prem star. Surely villa should of said ok we will agree to buy back option but price is 40 mil. ? Thoughts guys. Great signing though can't wait to see him play.

Kingvilla I think the buyback clause is in place for three years only mate.
And I think it means if he is with us beyond three years then they get nothing, but if it does not work out and he wants out or we decide to sell him then Barcelona have first choice for a figure that has been agreed on, but whatever happens we will get more than we have paid for him.
But hey, we have got a great player on our hands and hopefully many tears of entertainment, this guy is a game changer without doubt.

Koeman has stated today that he is not for sale. Reports linking us with Monaco defender and Fonte are off the mark. both lazy journalism. However, I have seen reports today that we have supposedly bid for the young Lazio striker. Still unconvinced by reports. I hope Traore signs. A SIGNAL OF INTENT FOR ONCE! But I thought he would have signed by today which makes me sceptical. We should throw our hat into the ring for Van Dijk. a quality centre half (young, chanpions league experience and can score goals) but I feel that Koeman has the power with his Dutch links. We still need another centre back.

Villa have supposedly bid for Keita Balde Diao. Lazio have rejected the initial offer.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

14 Aug 2015 02:04:00
He's also being linked with Liverpool but (my opinion is) that's just lazy journalism. They had a bid rejected for him last summer and went for Balotelli instead. Press assuming because that hasn't worked out, Rogers would look back to his first choice as a replacement. I'm not sure there is any substance to that.

According to some reports we are leaving him to West Brom, having said that he has apparently said he would prefer a move to Villa Park.
For me at 7mill he is a snip and would give us so many options going forward.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

12 Aug 2015 16:32:20
I think 7m for Praet is a snip and he is better than WB. If we could get him and Adama and finally beat Utd then this would be an amazing week

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 17:04:01
Would like to see him at VP as Villa player but if we buy all players we're currently linked with we'll have spent £75m+ and we surely ain't got that kind of money to splash?

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2015 18:10:53
We've had 42m on 2 players, maybe 45-50m in total. So 75m is net spend of 25m which ties in some other clubs like Newcastle, Leicester and Watford.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 21:53:17
if adama signs, praet would be the icing on the cake

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 13:00:55
I am very surprised Charlie Austin is still a QPR player I expected him to move very early on.
Les Ferdinand has said QPR want his situation resolved as it is affecting their plans for the new season.
With that said why does TIm Sherwood not make a move for Austin.
Imagine a striker partnership of Gestede and Austin would not be the fastest but we would score a lot of goals and bring the likes of Grealish and co in the game.
For me Austin is a no brainer and although we have not been linked to him for a while now I just can't TIm Sherwood ignoring a proven English goal scorer available for around £12m

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2015 15:06:05
Am I the only one who doesn't want Austin?
He's on 90k a week and refuses to reduce his wages.

And he still could be a one season wonder

And we have power, creativity, pace not a long time we can say that can we ??

12 Aug 2015 12:53:10
I would love Abdennour he's a very solid CB but is also very good on the ball, the truth is we have next to no chance of getting him as he prefers a move to Italy.
On top of that will also expect Champions league football so i think it's fair to say Roma look like they are in pole position unless Barcelona step in and flex their muscles.

Other 2 signings. simply awesome!!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Boilesen Is an attacking left back similar in style to amavi but nowhere near as good.
Praet is quality, unsure why nobody hasn't snapped him up already.
Adama I've got my fingers and toes crossed about! If we get this one over the line we've a real good player on our hands. Just hope the buyback clause barca will demand will be at least double what we pay for the guy.

I can't quite believe that rondon has signed for the baggies I mean jesus the bloke might be the most under-rated ST in world football considering the rather small price tag. according to reports, villa were interested and if true that is a disgrace. never should wba be a more attractive club then aston villa I mean christ they have tony pulis in charge who is anti-football. normally when looking at their signings I wouldn't take them at villa but this one does hurt to see him join them.
thoughts?????

Believable2 Unbelievable4

10 Aug 2015 18:40:42
We should concentrate on our own team and have faith in sherwood.
Perhaps he didn't want him. perhaps he felt he wasn't right for us. perhaps he went there as that was the only option left.
Just because he is available doesn't mean he is the right man for villa.
We have had so much dross the last few years, we now have a manager that wants to move forward, let's trust in him, who he brings in, and worry about the villa, no one else.

We should be positive about what we have, not concentrate on who or what we have missed out on.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2015 19:11:48
I agree with you but seemingly we are linked with bringing in potentially another ST. we were linked with rondon yet a smaller club have been able to attract him over us. I heavily trust in sherwood and believe he is the right man to take us forward but I cannot believe that wba have looked more attractive a proposition then AVFC.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Aug 2015 21:02:29
How do you know 'over us?' How do you know we didn't reject him??

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 07:00:16
Well said Flackie - Sherwood seems like the kind of guy who doesn't take no for an answer, if he wanted to get him, he would have. There was all those reports of Amavi not being interested in us, yet we have him now, and Ayew saying he decided to join after spending 5 minutes with Sherwood.

Lets not forget Rondon's come from the Russian league where players are on very very good money, and the last thing we need to be doing is bringing in players on inflated wages, especially when we have suffered through years of Paul Lambert being ordered to get the wage bill down. I can't really see any of our new signings being on too much money, which makes them even more impressive in my eyes. Richards being the exception, but then again he is the captain.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - River Plate's Balanta is of serious interest to Udinese, Roma, Valencia, Juventus, Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Galatrasaray and AC Milan. Napoli and Caniggia for Liverpool had shown interest when he was younger. Valencia agreed a move last summer but it fell through. Arsenal and Chelsea have watched the player on a number of occasions as well. Guardiola was a fan when at Barcelona. His agent says he has been approached by Aston Villa and Leicester City about the availability of the player. He would need a lot of work before being ready to play at the highest level in Europe, although Udinese, Olympiacos, Roma and Valencia were actively seeking an agreement for this summer, but nothing came of it.}

Reports are saying Adebeyor is stalling because he doesn't want to be involved in a relegation fight & wants to stay in London, definitely don't need that attitude in a player, save the money, think we're looking good for strikers anyway, & think there's more goals to come spread around the team this season, we're a right back short so I'd be concentrating more on getting the best 1 we can, my Spuds mate says they can't wait to see the back of Kyle Walker so even though a lot on here want him, that don't sound like the answer, check out DeAndre Yedlin, think he would be perfect for the way TS wants us to progress, £3M should do it

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Let him rot in Tottenham's reserves. I only ever thought he was worth taking a gamble on if Spurs were picking up a chunk of his wages. £100k a week for a guy who has hardly played, is a bad influence, only try's when a contract is on the line, and can't get in the Spurs team in front of Soldado for crying out loud, you got to be having a laugh. If he's worried about a relegation battle, it hardly suggests that he is prepared to work hard. We have got a young side and don't need his bad influence around them. Why do we need him anyway, we have already got 2 big centre forwards, and don't need to pay this waster £100k a week to sit on the bench.

I hear it's Liverpool, Stoke and Villa. If he's looking at training facilities then area are right up there. This lad is going to want to play. Either way, it's great we've thrown out name into the hat and are looking at these sorts of players.

Looks like it's a head to head between us and Stoke, although stokes interest in the player has been persistent you'd tend to think the facilities, infrastructure and stadium would tempt him to choose us. Name a mule dear boy :)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 18:24:19
It seems more and more to me that it's Adebayor himself who might be the stumbling block. I can see Tom Fox saying that we'll pay only x a week, take it or leave it, and Adebayor's having a hard time swallowing it, torn by his desire to play for TS again perhaps? Only time will tell but an underpaid (in his eyes) Adebayor might be even worse than the on-off-on-off one we've come to expect.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Aug 2015 20:30:11
If I was Tom Fox, I would be looking to get him in on a performance based contract, so if he starts playing up and not performing we aren't stuck paying him massive wages. He probably wouldn't take it but I think we are in a strong enough position at the moment with new players that we could just leave him and try for other targets.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would suspect that now we have signed gustede we no longer need adebeyor. We have kozak and rudy now who are both strong in the air. Then ayew and gabby, Sinclair to play off them. I'd more understand berbatov now, who could add something different.

£145 million for villa are you serious, RL not daft, the only way he would sell for that he keeps the money from CB/FD and the new owners have purchased the new players. RL has spent loads on villa we should show him some respect

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Aug 2015 17:25:26
I agree with villajk. RL deserves a lot of respect and love from the villa fans. This man has put so much into villa and Has Got very little out. I'd understand if he was bleeding the club dry taking all the profits but we keep making a loss yet he keeps putting money in. This is the guy who bought us and gave millions to "the messiah" Martin o'neill who spent millions on average players and stupid wages on average players he then wouldn't play. Martin o'neill who thought it was a good idea to sell Gary Cahill for £5m and buy Curtis Davies for £9m. RL used to be a very wealthy man but a few years ago went through a messy divorce where is now ex wife took half of his money. Yet lots of villa fans just moan and moan. They ask why RL doesn't keep ploughing money into our "beloved club" yet moan if a ticket goes up by a few quid. This may be a very unreasonable rant but it annoys me when some villa fans moan that some American guy doesn't put millions of pounds in to "OUR" club (their words) but then moan about paying the £35 to see "our club" play football. It was only a few years ago that he paid out around £24m on one player who kept us in the premier league that season. How many other premier league chairmen sanction deals like that? He has my respect. VTID. UTV.

Right back needed guys, if we can get someone of Amavi's quality we will be tight at the back and have so many attacking options going forward we could well be the surprise package of EPL. Need these Achilles heel positions plugged and would take Joleon in a heartbeat.

Ed you would know more about our chances of getting him ???

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't help you with Lescott but as for Van Dijk, he could be leaving Celtic but nothing will be done before their European qualifiers are over and Celtic are hoping that CL qualification might sway the big Dutchman, who they value at £10 million, into staying another year. I'm not aware of any Villa interest in him, Southampton and Arsenal were tracking him, Man Utd had a fleeting interest but seen him as a back-up player which VVD wasn't interested in and both them and Arsenal moved on. Recently Everton and Newcastle have been linked with the player but if he leaves Glasgow I still see Southampton as his most probable destination.}

01 Aug 2015 22:44:38
Thanks Ed.
I suppose the Koeman factor would be the deciding factor.
Shame he would fit the bill perfectly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think you're right about Koeman being there but anything can happen in the next month.}

02 Aug 2015 01:04:30
I also watched the Celtic opener and yes Van Dijk looks impressive but we need to be real,SPL is in my opinion championship at best quality, yes they find jems every now and then but better than Baker I suppose ATM ,so buy him as a back up would be option, considering Baker signed Friday new deal (bit surprised) but warrior at heart and no fear but liability and offered new deal,TS must see something we don't off field,we just see (costly) mistakes,on his day is a beast, and right coaches he can be a awesome, butt few and far between,he needs long run in team to be good, bring off bench 80 min I will be digging own grave each time

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - So Villa wouldn't be a better team with Fraser Forster and Wanyama? Joe Ledley, Ki-Sung Yeung and Adam Matthews would all have got in the Villa team last season.
When you're sitting clinging on at the arse end of the everything that's wrong with football league you've got a cheek looking down you're nose at anyone.}

02 Aug 2015 11:04:14
Last season ED007 yes Micky mouse would of got in villa 11,just saying we should be trying to test resolves of the likes of Stoke with Shawcross etc etc,I don't look my nose down at anyone and if Celtic was in prem it would prob be mid table team at best,so my opinion was/is Van DIjk really that good and will he improve us further !! If so great we only want the best for our club don't WE

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think the likes of Shawcross is an improvement on VVD, outwith the Top 6 VVD would walk into any other team in England. How often do you watch the SPFL?}

02 Aug 2015 11:05:11
I completely agree with you ed. SPL maybe not the best league in the world but the french top division isn't either, yet we seem to be doing all our shopping there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers for that, Fordy, we know our league isn't the best but if you watch it regularly the games are always tough and hard fought matches and the standard isn't much worse than a lot of EPL games if you stripped away Sly TV's razzamattaz and slutty make-up.
How many boring and monotonous 0-0 wins did Sly show from the EPL last year? I follow Man Utd in England and their match against Hull last season was one of the worst games I watched from ANY league last year let alone the supposed 'best league in the world'.}

I totally agree with you here ed.
If you look at it in a different way, the defenders in these 'lesser' leagues as do the goal keepers, get more of a constant work out, as the attacking players in these leagues what they lack in ability they make up in grit and strength.

What I'm trying to say is, the ability to save, read a game, mark a player technically is the same, add to this the need to take a 'knock' and to be aware of the more physical side of things, in my opinion these guys are worth a shout.

I'm sure that made no sense! But I know what I mean!!

If this is that defender who picked the ball up in defence, ran through the entire opposition team and scored then I think he could do a job for us :)

Doesn't matter about the club or the league the player is in, the job of the scouts is to pick out the players with the required quality - I wouldn't call Genk a good club playing in a top league, but they gave us Benteke.

Will be happy if this happens. A couple of people have tweeted that we're in for Michael Dawson from Hull. I've always liked him. £2m which makes me think it can't be true as he's worth more than that. I thought he was decent at Spurs and John Terry would be crap alongside El mohamedy and Alex Bruce.

Amavi is going to be class, what I've watched pre-season and hopes for future 👍 as soon as I did my dream team he was first weeks ago, problem is expect poaching from the top teams in BPL and Europe to come sniffing next summer it's just the way it is these days until we become a force again 😀

I watched gueye at Walsall. And I know it's only Walsall but he looked sharp and broke up almost every play that Walsall put together. He was busy and looked the part one minute breaking up the play and then next minute having a shot from the edge of the box. I think Veretout will be great tho. Ridiculous amount of assists last season in France. What is great is that we all have different opinions which must mean we've bought some quality for a change.

So is it ade or berba we will sign?! Surely not both.

Just a decent attacking right back needed now and I think this could be a great season for villa.

Anyone got any news on outgoings? Need to get cissokho, n'zogbia and senderos off the books for sure. Hopefully tonev as well.

All this activity has been great! Genuinely think we could be a force this season. Looking forward to seeing gestede, apart from what I've read, don't know too much about him.

Don't want adebayor and berba.one or other. Embolo, soriano and townsend please tim :-)

Not that i'm complaining, but surely that's the benkete an delph money spent now. is randy funding these moves or have I miss something.

I said ages ago Villa wouldn't spend more that £10m on a player, (officially I'm still right 😁) BUT I am very suprised by how much we have spent in total.

I genuinely thought the money was only going to be £30-£35m in total and about 5 players coming in but I am so happy I'm wrong.

Whoever is funding these transfers, is making us very happy Villa fans.

I hope it's new buyers, but if it's Randy we all need to show him some praise.
He obviously still cares about the club!

Let's remember the enhanced tv money. From 45 mil to 90. Which is why many teams are spending.

£39,600,000 spent.

£40,500,000 sold. (Minus the sell on fees whatever they are)

Not my calculations, found elsewhere.

I think it works out to about £7m being left to spend after all sales. Also i think the enhanced TV money comes into affect at the end of the season

£7m left after all the business we've done. Happy days!

Other rumour I've heard is that loan deal for adebayor is held up over RL and TF not overly keen on him and player = games for the season, maybe a bit of boardroom wrangling going on between TS and RL first time

I've heard it's Daniel levy holding up the deal, which is more likely as he's known to get the best deal for him

Ashley Young guys, he's coming back.

Personally I would take him, on his day he is brilliant.

I have died and gone to heaven because our spending ain't stopping, Joleon from Tesco's, and another right back and we are PREPARED.

I can't see that happening TBH under LVG his Man U days re-ignited and hugely stated by LVG himself he was to keep speed, creativity, skill in his squad, why would they sell one of last seasons consistent performers :)

I heard he will go to LFC on £110k per week and makes sense with CB up front need the service, can't see him coming back to us unless we have a new owner in waiting who will pay those wages?
