Alright Villa. I'm Sorry. i thought that alex mcleish was one of those stupid managers who would just sign players from his ex-clubs. i was disappointed with the signings at first (apart from Shay Given) But my god they've come good and i believe that if he can keep the players that are currently playing for the Villa, we could seriously be thinking about europe. So really this comment is really a sorry. A sorry to Alex McLeish for being one of the doubters. Do you forgive me.

Alex Mcliesh maybe an ok choice as the Villa Manager but to say he's come good we've played 5 matches 4 of them easy and only won once, in the majority of games Villa are being outplayed our attack is SH*T with no last ball supply to Bent as Albrighton cuts wide cuts in and shoots himself or sky's it N'zogbia is much the same Agbonlahor is the only one scoring provided he's given the ball early enough, the only positive's are we have a solid keeper and our defense are back to their best ability.

Does anyone know if Darren Bent is fit to play tomorrow after getting injured on England duty?

Many Thanks

Believable1 Unbelievable0

If Darren Bent isn't fit, Villa have about as much chance of scoring as Steve Bruce on 'Take Me Out'

January Transfers

Craig Dawson - £5m from WBA. NO THANK YOU
Carlton Cole - £5m from WHU. NO THANK YOU he was s**t at Villa before and ent done much since
Snodgrass - £4.5m from Leeds would be good if he can make the step up in class

Out:
Cuellar - £3m to Rangers

Carlton Cole is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. He does not score goals and he cant create goals, so what else is there that he can do? NOY A LOT!

I wonder what odds you would get from the bookie's on Villa being sold. I think that Lerner has lost interest with his toy and is willing to take offers. He has watched half of the England team being ex Villa and is unmoved. I didn't enjoy MON being Villa manager as he bought players then left them to do nothing, but he did bring in quality players that should have pushed Villa up the table. Lerner makes promises like my wife, only words and no action, and appears to break hisword quite easily. MON left because he didn't get money for players that he was promised. I think that big Eck also got the same promise but no action. Young went for half his value, Downing for about two thirds. Milner was a good deal, Barry was reasonable and Cahill was given away. Along with several others that went, we got rid of a team well able to hold its own in the prem, and we end up with a squad that is questionable. Why? The purse remained locked! What bets we have a new owner for 2012/

If Bent is injured Saturday I think the team that should start is....

Given

Hutton Dunne Collins Warnock

Agbonlahor Petrov Jenas Delph

N'zogbia

Heskey

Team I would like to see after the January transfer window.....

Given

Hutton Dunne Cahill Warnock

Agbonlahor Davis Jenas Delph

N'zogbia

Bent
also look to sign either
Nikola Žigić or Nikica Jelavic and maybe bring in unattached James Mcfadden.
Bench would be strong including seven from the above and Petrov, Collins, Ireland, Herd, Delfouneso, Bannan, Albrighton, Clarke and Marshall

For the first team mentioned for january transfer i would have Davis back would prefer to make Jenas perminant if he recaptures his from.
and the second team mentioned for january i'd love to see defoe in a Villa shirt instead of Heskey

News out of the england camp that Gary Cahill was speaking so highly of the villa youth system and he has thanked the academy of turning him into the player that he is, he also revealed that he has never closed the door on villa and would like to play for us again in the future, could this be a promising sign ahead of the january transfer window?

The squaf i feel is looking in good shape, but i think McLeish will reshape the squad further in January. Surely the likes of Beye will be leaving..

However, the squad still looks a little thin in the forward positions. N'Zogbia will prove to be an excellent signing, Agbonlahor gives us pace, Heskey gives power and Bent is clinical and has fantastic off the ball movement. A target man is still missing - we know what a fan of Zigic McLeish is, he would be available cheap and would probably be more than happy to force through a move and get out of the Championship.

The other option would be Nikola Jelavic from Rangers, Villa have a good relationshop with Rangers so this transfer is possible. However if Villa want to go cheaper than Zigic would be the better choice out of the two men.

Lastly an extra midfielder wouldn't go a miss, we know of the interest in Steven Davis, expect this to be reignited in January. 5 million at most would be enough to get McLeish his man, Cuellar could be part of the deal if the new Irish lad impresses and can fill his place in the squad.

Glad to hear all your comments!

Surely the obvious thing to do is coax Trevor Francis out of retirement, he would be far a better signing than James McFadden

why are most people doom and gloom when we have signed two good players from spurs, these idiots that are more than quick enough to say we are not good enough or we havent brought right are wrong, villa has a excellent youth academy and over the next five years we will be producing some quality young players that will want a chance ten times as much, rather than wages ten times as much. United did it back in the 90s and look what platform they have built for themselves.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I prefer to think that the contributors who comment on the strength of the squad have a large dose of realism rather than being or full of doom and gloom. Hutton & Jenas may be good players, however, we still have a weak squad and are missing a couple of players. What happens if Bent gets injured and he is sidelined ? where do we have a proven premiership striker ? ok Gabby can, on his day, but he isn't going to bag us 20 goals a season, but I hope he does.
There is no doubt that the academy is producing some good prospects but do we have the time for them to make the grade, that's the 64 thousand $ question. You would be hard pressed to justify the ability of the teams we fielded against Derby and Hereford as being of the necessary quality to compete with the top teams in the PL. I hope you are right and that there is enough time for the youngsters to come through the ranks and make good premiership players, my fear is that time is not on our side.

The alternative would be to convince Trevor Francis to come out of retirement, that way our boss could get away with playing just one up front.

huttons a good buy, he was doing really well pre-season. should of bagged another striker like sturridge, as heskey isn't a goalscorer

Aston Villa swooped to bring in Alan Hutton and Jermaine Jenas from Tottenham?? Swooped? More like looted and we will pay the (harsh) penalty.

boys although its clear to everyone concerned we need another striker i have been really impressed with gabby so far he looks a much more complete player and seems to have got a bit of pace back and is now getting the ball down and taking people on the big concern for me it the moment is how big eck can get the best out of ireland and n zogbia as if these 2 started turning it on the aint many better on their day add to this jenas and the form of delph and we are looking strong in the middle personally if and when we are all fit we would be more than a handfull for anyone in the league this would be my starting 11 playing 442

If everyone brings their "A" game then we should do ok, I'm a little worried though at the lack of any height in the midfield and this could cost us

All pretty much run of the mill crap mate

Villa Sign Hutton and Jenas (loan) and a untried youngster in Stevens.

Yet we need a CREATIVE midfielder and a striker to be a second option from Bent WHY not get Bentdner and SWP as N'Zogbia isn't proving his worth at the minute

If were trying to cut the wage bill down, how on god earth would we have signed a man city player whose on silly wages and is probably on a silly wage at qpr and bendtner who is also on more then our top earner. N'zogbia has played 3 games.. Give the guy a chance for pete sake. Also we don't need a creative midfielder, we have ireland and bannan. Hush please your embarrasing us realists.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Bendtner isnt on big money he's on 55k at aresnal which isnt that what Heskey is on
and as for QPR we've seen it before in Portsmouth spend big then they cant cover it or ven fill there stadium
Villa lost 2 creative wingers got N'zogbia who in my opinion should be warming the bench for Albrighton and who else on the wing is supplying Bent that would be no one as Gabby cut's in to shoot himself

its all f'in over now and we've failed to make our team stronger, last few days let young and makoun go and brought in hutton and jenas, whoopty f'in do, after letting all our best players leave the last 3 years, lets once again fight relegation, should be a fun season. weve got some brilliant young players but how long till they move onto bigger clubs that have got more promise?
