lets just put it this way Naismith has made a name in international football he has played about the last 6 games for Scotland and Naismith loves rangers so it wont be that easy to lure him away

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I hope naismith loves rangers no one playing in scotland makes it in the prem!I don't call playing for Scotland as a guide to being a good international

Agree0 Disagree2

To make a name internationally you need european football if he came to the prem and did well fo villa taking the 100% pay rise he would impress the type of club such as united and city to come in for him

Agree0 Disagree1

Charlie Adam was crap in spl till he moved down a grade to E ngland

www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Aston-Villa-exclusive-Club-want-to-cut-players-average-wage-by-10k-per-week-article809127.html

Its true unfortunately if this article is to be believed. How the hell can we compete if the calibre of players we sign in the future are only on small wages comparitively compared to so called bigger clubs? I remember not so long ago coming to Villa Park was an attractive proposition for a player...that is no longer the case as clubs like Stoke, Fulham etc will pay higher wages than us. Prepare ourselves for a future of Championship & SPL players and young talent who have a good couple of seasons only to be fed into bigger clubs of which are becoming an alarmingly bigger amount. We are destined to at best finish mid table or be scratching around at the bottom of the Premiership for many a year to come in front of even smaller crowds in a stadium with a bigger capacity. Thanks Mr Lerner for all you plan to do for our once great club.
------------------------------------------------
By the way Stoke do not pay any player more than 40k a week i know this to be fact as it's the reason they always do their business on deadline day as their targets ie crouch waited to see if anyone else came in for him, Fulham are much the same, also Villa have stated the AVERAGE WAGE at Villa needs to come down to 46k a week with a few stars on more and some on lower to counter balance it.

I think you also need to realise that every club outside the top 5 clubs will be paying similar or less wages once the fair play ruling comes in so its not the end of the world Villa will still compete although were no longer a club looking to crack the champions league were one of the 7 clubs competing for a european spot i.e Villa, everton, spurs, fulham, sunderland, newcastle and stoke.

my advice to you my fellow Villa fan is stop moaning about Villa and support the team go to the matches and buy the merchandise as each club will now be limited by the revenue they bring in so if your not in the ground or buying the merchandise your not doing anything to help the club.

You guys don't have 10 million to prize naismith away from the gers. Keep it real, you can have John Fleck on loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Er our owner is a BILLIONAIRE so der of course we'll get Naismith transfer funds isn't the issue it's wages he'll be a good third choice striker to replace Heskey we just ned to reduce our wage bill to get in line with the fair play ruling next year and when that comes in Rangers will be paying their players 15k a week instead of 20k least at Villa he'll be picking upto 40k plus Cuellar refused to come to you at the end of the day cause he would'nt take the 25k pay drop a week until his contract runs out.

Agree1 Disagree1

Naismith only worth at the most 2 million but as he,s a scot, AM will treble that and join him with hutton who is also a waste ,Villa are amassive club Lerner now needs to sell, you will have a ground capacty of 50,000 and and will fill 20,000 this will be down to players who lack flair and negative football

Lerner is expected to state the sale of 35% of Aston Villa Football Club.
To raise an expected £40 million.
With all players to have a pay cut of £10,000 p/w.
Could spell the end of Ireland , Beye & Cuellar's Villa careers.
(reducing the wage bill by £165,000 p/w)
£40m + £23/£24m from the Young/Downing sales will cancel out the debt at the club of £67m.
Villa will then be perfectly in-line with the new fair play rulings.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I don't know where you get your info from but the players wont take a pay cut will they it's common sense a player has a contract for 1,2,3,4+ years stating he's paid 50k a week that is binding in a court of law just the same as if your employer told you, to take a pay cut it doesn't happen your either made redundant or in Villa's case will lt the contracts run out as Beye,Ceullar and Heskey's contracts end in the summer then Petrov,Dunne and Collins the season after thats how Villa will trim the wage bill

can i ask all villa fans what chances yous think of cuellar leaving villa for rangers if anybody can help it will be appreciated thanks

hi mate , I think fairly 50/50, I think his fitness will change things .. if McLeish want to buy more players , They'll probably sell him to clear the wage bill (hope this helps.)

As Cuellar has already refused personal terms this summer with Rangers cause they can only pay him 20k a week and he'd rather sit on his arse collecting 45k a week i feel he'll be released in the summer and then he'll go to Rangers and take the pay cut but not before.

Villa are chasing a few players:
Naismith (after Big Eck saw how short we are became upfront with injuries)
Taarabt (Villa have been short on creativity in midfield with Albrighton seeming to not have got a place & Bannan in fine form).

OUTS:
Heskey
Cuellar

(this is to clear the wage bill of 120k a week to fund Naismith & Taarabt deals.
-------------------------------------------------
Naismith is on no more than 20k a week, Taarabt is on 25k and has stated he want's 40-50k a week
i'm struggling to see were the 120k a week comes from Heskey's on 55k and Cuellar's on 45k.
but both would be good additions i feel Villa may go back in for Mcgeady rather than Taarabt

Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner wants to cut his squad's average wage by £10,000-a-week per man.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Printed today.....seriously mate if you have had enough just f*** back off to the States and sell us to someone who wants us to compete. Our squad is already paper thin and any injuries to major stars will result in a rapid decent down the table. Yes we are undefeated but lets be honest we have been very lucky in a couple of games with poor refereeing decisions and poor finishing and we havent played anyone decent yet (can see us getting thrashed next weekend) Our first choice team is ok but will never win anything and we are in grave danger of becoming even more of a feeder club than we are already...If Gabby and Bannan keep up their impressive starts we can definately say goodbye to them next season and we wont see Bents dust as he speeds out of B6.

If this is true he should sell

Cahill, Henriksen, Naismith, Simpson and Davis all to join Villa

McLeish have insisted that Villa Starlet Barry Bannan is going no-where.
---------------------------------------
Villa aiming for top 7 finish this year.
If Villa reach Europe.
Lerner is set to inject £50m for transfers to push higher.
Cash for results.
----------------------------------------
Lerner has already stated he wants to get the wage bill down nearer to 60-65m a year as it's now at 80 so over the next 2 years we'll see the changes as all the players on big money contracts are coming to an end Heskey,Ceullar,Beye,Petrov,Collins,Dunne
these will all be gone in the next 2 years.

And Villa wont sign Cahill although Naismith in replacement for Heskey next summer Simpson for Ceullar/Beye and maybe Henrikson as Villa rarely re-sign a player.

I think in January a few things need to happen. Firstly i'd like to praise McLeish a little, he's done a great job, we are playing well. He's doing a great job with a think squad. I think he has had time to analyze the squad - January should see a few moves go ahead.

In defence I think we are possibly one light. Normally I would say lets bring in Gary Cahill...but i think thats unlikely and our center back pairing is doing very well...Cuellar and Clark are great backup as well. Edna Stevens will come in and give us a bit of wing back cover, but I'd like Habib Beye to leave and for someone else to come in but that would be a luxury. Someone like Bardlsey of Simpson would give good cover and better fepth in the wide areas.

Midfield wise for me is our thinnest area. Delph is looking poor and Jenas is seemingly never fit. I wouldn't even be surprised that Ireland leaves - however if Henriksen joins and performs well he will push Ireland out of the fray. Steven Davis would offer us a bit more stability and bite in the center of the park which we have been lacking since Reo-Coker left (mistake for me). An alternative to Davis would be Fabrice Muamba - with Bolton struggling and us flying high this could be a goer. Another winger as well is needed, we should of got Shaquiri when he was unknown - obviously thats not the case now. Difficult to say who would be a target.

Lastly i think that one more striker would be of use. Heskey isn't good to play through the middle for me, and i don't particularly want McLeish to spend on a striker. A 6-month-loan deal would be a good idea t o supplement what we have already.

Any thoughts people?

EJ
