I dont know about any of you but i think andy carroll is s***, I personally would'nt pay 5m for him let alone 20! I think we should be investing the money weve got on sinclair i think hes perfect for villa, young and hungry. Looks like were gonna have a decent season. UTV!

Great ron vlaar what a purchase id have gone for someone who is not s***e personally. he is no better than dunne or collins and i would say clark would be worth a start instead even baker! Pl signings so far look good though so prove me wrong ronnie vlaar

Naturalvillan

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Vlaar was Feyenoord's highest rated defender why do you think they were so arsey with villa on deadlines

Dunne is a 2nd rate Ireland international
Collins is a 3rd rate Welsh international
And Vlaar is a top dutch centre back with lots of international experience

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2012 19:36:59
Would like to see us get one more forward someone who has pace and can score goals swell as we rely heavily on bent, someone like sturridge would be perfect but we have no chance. Another winger like Sinclair or dos santos or that bahrami, they have loads of pace and with a bit of technical training they would be good players. And another left back but it's hard to capture a good one as if there half decent and cheap a better team signs them as a bench warmer but possibly twaio he was good in france.

Get rid of dunne, Hutton and warnock. Collins will be stable with a better centre half.

Scg87 stop arguing with every villa fan on the forums, everyone has there own opinion if you was right about everything you thought you was you wouldn't need to sit sweating it out on your laptop critising everyone who doesn't agree with you. Dezul

I think all you doubters out there who are so quick to moan about something you hear in the media should get a grip and sort your lifes out and act like a supporter and have belief in the club Vlaar is a done deal which a lot of you didn't think would happen because you were to quick to believe the media instead of having faith in the club none of us know whats going on behind the scenes even though people say they do!

call yourselfs villa supporters?? ACT LIKE ONE!!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I agree with you, up to a point. There is a difference between supporting the club and blind subservience

Ron Vlaar of Feyenoord has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa, and the deal just needs a medical and international clearance before it is official. Both teams have agreed a fee of around £4.5m, and Vlaar is excited about working with Lambert.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Close to 4m euros or £3.1m

Sidenote, why did we pay 8m for warnock and reo coker - english prices eh!

Agree1 Disagree0

We paid silly money because the manager at the time spent money like my wife. I see it, I want it, I'll have it. Doen't work for her and it didn't work for the manager otherwise he would still be at AVFC. Warnock was not worth £8.00 let alone £8m but a LB was needed. Reo Coker could have been a good buy but he believed what he was told. "You will be the best player at VP." He was possibly the highest paid player at VP.

The Ron Vlaar deal has been reignited and he has signed on the dotted line today, trust me!

RL will provide the cash for a big money signing as our average wage structure is now acceptable,,, WHO will it be, My hope is that the ideology of Young Talented Dynamic is honoured.. Sofiane Feghouli would be the No1 choicem a better choice[check him out on youtube] destroyed Chelsea & Barcelona only 22, can play as a striker or AM 195% better than metioned before him.

Before the sceptics start, pls watch him 1st, I appreciate we still need a solid CB/LB which PL will get, I would also suggest we enquire about Lindergaard whilst this Guzan merrigoround continues, Dembelle would also be a good sho

Paul Lambert is scouting youth talent for the first team, with scouts being present at the Olympic games taking place this evening.

May well be a good opportunity of you ask me, only every 4 years.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

26 Jul 2012 17:02:36
Is Lambert likely to largely go with young English talent? I know I posted up a team a few days ago, but things could be very different if he goes for English/British teams. Creswell, Matt Phillips, James Tomkins, Carroll could all come in.

Personally I hope to see either Vlaar or Ramis, perhaps Danny Simpson but want to see Lowton have a crack. Creswell or Bennet at left back. Definatley Matt Phillips is my first choice for a winger and Carroll would be an interesting one to get I suppose.

________Carroll__Bent

25 Jul 2012 19:46:35
Personally I believe lambert is signing all these lower league and foreign players as we are saving out for one big signing. I think will be a striker and most likely a target man like Carroll.
Also I do still believe we will sign Vlaar as a deal for him couldn't of been concluded as we were in America.
Then a left back who i hope will be Bertrand but will probably be Cresswell

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Jul 2012 18:41:21
I don't really see how Carrol and Bent will work...both have pretty poor touches. Personally I prefer to have a big striker paired with a little one whose tricky. Bent and Carrol up front doesn't seem to scary for other teams. With signings, I fancy we could line up like that:

_____________Given
Naughton__Collins__Clark__Bennett
Gabby___Ahmadi__Bannan__N'Zogbia
_________Carroll__Bent

Lambert will look at young talent, Agbonlahor will get a chance as will Barry Bannan and Ciaran Clark, Naughton and Joe Bennet are likely to be the new full backs with Warnock and Hutton being given the boot. Collins and Clark I can see being first pair, but perhaps a Ramis will come in (don't see Vlaar being likely anymore). Ahmadi will give us some good steel in the middle with Bannan picking the passes and Gabby/N'Zogbia giving us great pace up the wings. Naughton and Bennet will provide good width going forwards.

Vlaar looks to be staying at feyenoord coz villa haven't bothered.well done pf

Believable4 Unbelievable1

If vlaar cant wait till villa arrive back then he not worth signing. Only lambert knows if he is going to be worth it or not and i personnally rate him for standing for the club. Lambert has stated it was just a chat and if the player and his club have read in to it more then they should then that there problem! Lambert has his head on for sure and will come good with his way or the highway approach.

Agree2 Disagree0

What is goin on at villa everythin has to stop cause we have a few games in america its so stupid when we need so many players in and some out we need cb lb rm st also think collins and warnock should be sold wit makaun and hutton we havent time for the whole club to take off on there jollys to america any1 agree

he we go again skysports reporting we won't be signing vlaar as we are messing them about. decent player slipping through our fingers. every chance now o'neil will come in for him.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Ed any truth to Vlaar asking more than we want to pay in wages so we are making him sweat it out and a cat and mouse game is happening? {Ed043's Note -dutch press are saying that we are not interested anymore but if lambert has an interest im sure he'll try again}

Just want to say to all you doubters on Gabby.

Watched the game vs Chicago Fire last night & he has lost the hands on hips & has regaining his form & sparkling sprinting.

Though will be out for a fortnight but good play by the lad & a decent enough goal by him too!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

No one doubts Gabby's skill ON HIS DAY' he's unplayable

BUT

He's far to inconsistant and his best goal ratio for a season has been 13 goals so he's not exactly a profilic scorer.

AND

If Villa keep him I'd keep him as a winger and bring in 2 strikers so he can use his speed and skill more and cause he wants to be up front will probably score more to

21 Jul 2012 18:35:35
I think that as well as the three boys we have got, we need a left back, a winger, a striker and a centre back to be comfortable for a while. We seem to have a decent budget, so I hope we see:

- Danny Simpson £5,000,000
- Ron Vlaar £6,000,000
- John Giudetti LOAN
- Matt Phillips

I'd also like to see us in the mix for Tongo Doumbia, Andy Carrol and Joe Bennet. Bennet would be an excellent replacement for Warnock.

Loving the early signs of Paul lamberts reign. I would love to see a few more signings and hopefully for us to hold on to some of the more talented players who under performed last season. I personally would enjoy seeing andy carrol come in but not too sure how strong the link is; if that doesn't happen though I'd still like to think the vlaar

Believable8 Unbelievable0

What has he done that is so good then ?

Agree1 Disagree8

Bought a new freshness to the club which was lacking last season, he's a man who knows what to say and seemingly knows his way round the currently inflated transfer market. I think his start has been positive, you are entitled to disagree as some villa fans will always do. In the same respect I am entitled to my own opinion, thank you

Agree6 Disagree2

Paul Lambert is giving HOPE to the Villa fans. All wehad last year was despair.

Agree5 Disagree2

He's better than Mcleish, i'll give you that. But anyone would have been, it just happened to be Lambert.

oneil never got further then 6th due to not looking at the quality of the squad but just the 1st team and never gave the kids a chance.

Lamberts approach has been first class and a breath of fresh air and i dont see the squad he is assembling running out of breath aswell come towards the end of the season like we allways did with oneil ?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

The youngsters were not MON players, they came from development so he disregarded them as McDonald and Cowans owuld have got the credit.

Im worried and got gut feeling we will be struggling this season, unless we sign rooney

Believable4 Unbelievable11

He was useless at the euro's couldn't even out pace shevchenko

Agree11 Disagree0

Where as I and many have a Buzz about next season as Villa usually do our business in August and its 6/7/12 and we have 3 new signings already and Lambert is set to revamp the defence I expect a finish between 10-13th this season with some cracking home form but crumbling on the road

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Jul 2012 10:13:50
PL will make the defence a priority as just looked and Collins, Dunne and Warnock are all in the last year of their contracts so if they go will get next to nothing for them or next year will go on free's, either way another big wage reduction. Come on MON do us a favour and bid for them.

Grant Holt staying at Norwich.....unlucky Villa

Believable0 Unbelievable9

So happy to be honest as the fees banded around were way too much and to take on a 31 year old on a 3 year contract would have made no sense. hope he does you well but think he may only have 1 good season left in him.

Agree10 Disagree0

Karsa and culverhouse will do ha ha you can keep your old man lol

Agree8 Disagree0

Thank god we just got rid of heskey, we got DB9 so who needs grant Holt. Suprised Norwich haven't signed zigic yet lool

Agree5 Disagree0

Is that the 'old man' you were hoping to sign last week? He was at Norwich before Mr Lambert came along and will still be there delivering the goods long after you have sacked Lambert.....just look at your appalling managerial stats in recent years....4 in two years....not good

Agree2 Disagree4

Yes but it's not 4 in two years, we have had two permanent manager in the last two seasons, o Neill left before it started can't count him, then McDonald was caretaker so can't really count him as a manager as he never had a contract as a manager, houllier retired so we can't do anything about that, and Mcleish was a square peg stuffed into a round hole. I make that two managers in two seasons. But now we have lambert and I can guarantee everyone that Karsa is now at villa, trust me. Either that or there is equipment with his initials on for no reason, plus there is no other GK on villas first team coaching staff.

Agree5 Disagree0

Why are Norwich fans on aston villa page? Surely there's more to life in Norwich

Agree10 Disagree1

Thats ok we'll just have to make do with Bent then

Happy days

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Wake up and smell the roses. One or two may be signed, maybe none. Realism is hard to accept, but in our current situation dreams are good.

Agree0 Disagree7

Why would u say no one will be signed?
1,pl has said he needs to strengthen 2,pf said there are funds available to make changes to the squad 3,we have already signed 2 players 4,we need a gk 5,players will be moved out so naturaly players will come in i agree with the 1st post just hope that we do get the quality of player mentioned above

Agree2 Disagree0

I'd expect Bharimi and Clynne to be concluded within the next 2 wks

Agree1 Disagree0

Realism isn't hard to accept, your just a dreamer from norwich who hasn't got a clue. Get positive and go back to enjoying sandwiches I heard you're in to bread, we are the villa and you say we won't sigN anyone, we have already confirmed two players, you clearly are thinking of norfolk villa, Aston villa mate, that's us

Agree6 Disagree0

I didn't say that no one would be signed. I said maybe. Lerner is a careful man and who knows when he might pull up the drawbridge, he has done it before; remember MO'N? We all know that defenders are needed but some out will have to happen before much is spent.

Agree1 Disagree2

Sorry pal, I am born and bred Villa from before you were a twinkle in your Daddies eye. Realism is very hard to accept. We are all aware that signings must be made, but you obviously haven't got a clue about the economics of running a business. Needs and wants are two very differing things. I again state that I didn'y say we would not buy , I said maybe. Learn to read what is written before you make silly posts. Plus, your English is appalling. It is " that is who we are."

Agree1 Disagree4

Lol these guys handbags are out over every name under the sun and in it. Only Paul Lambert knows who's coming to the villa not the propaganda journo's that make things up
