Use our rumours form to send us aston villa transfer rumours.

Anyone know anything about the supposed takeover rumours?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

They are not true. it isn't going to happen. we are rubbish. lerner doesn't care. mcleish is an idiot. we are never going to win anything ever again. relegation battles are all we have to look forward to. stop dreaming we will be a rich as man city and wake up. is that clear enough for you? our club are now a selling, mid table at best club. deal with it

There are strong indications that Randy Lerner is lining up a short list of possible replacements for Mcleish should results not go his way over the next ten days. Poyet is top of the list apparently with Curbishley and Keane as other possibles!

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Villa fan living in the south, nr Brighton. Gus is also being watched by a few other clubs with ambition. He was a very clever player with a bit of style. Problem is that if 'Arry goes to the national side then Spuds will be looking in the direction of Brighton to bring a manager through the system. One thing in Villa's favour is that Spuds could look at Chris Hughton who has proved himself as a very adept young manager in recent seasons.

Haha theres an article on the express and star website where mcmuffin is claiming he's not a magician. No s**t!. He also goes on to say there's only a few managers who could do a better job than him . I suppose you have to admire his arrogance... he's still a t**t mind. UTV

Believable4 Unbelievable0

If he's not a magician he's doing a good job of impersonating one ! Speciality disappearing tricks, he managed to makes Blues Premier League status disappear and he's certainly having a good go at making Villa's disappear as well ! McLeish will be imfamous for his lack of success at clubs based in Birmingham.

Wonder whether we play attacking football and go for the win against a poor Blackburn side tomorrow or whether we'll play boring defensive football and come away without a point

mmmmm wheres everyone that slagged learner off gone, funny how now everyone knows just how much randy has put into the club its all gone quiet on here.
110 mil lose in 3 years after everything has come in and gone out he has still lost 110 mil now the only thing he has really had anything to do with is the 12mil spent on the managers and backroom staff but most of the other 98 mil was spent by o neil the messah(not)but most people on here love him strange how we dont know fact but still say what ever comes into our tiny brains

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Not an O'Neil fan, and not a quiet fan. Who allowed half of the England team tonight to leave Villa. Somewhere along the way Lerner would have known that these players were being sold, after all he is the owner. His "Browns " are rubbish even though he has spent a lot of moneyon them. While he is at VP we are never going anywhere except down. If Villa are lucky enough to stay up this season then how much money is he prepared to lay out on new players? Not a lot I suggest. Cahill, Young, Downing, Milner, Barry should have been encouraged to stay, by hook or by crook.
I am not anything but a fan and over 65 years of supporting I have seen many poor Villa sides, but this one must rank with the worst. McCliesh can only do what he can with what he has and the rest is up to the players. Ranieri once said of his Chelsea side that there were to many millionaires in the dressing room, and that they only played when they wanted too. Sound familiar.

Agree5 Disagree1

Ok smartarse yes Martin oneill spent the money (didn't like him) and yes I will still slag Lerner off because he gave oneill the money to spend so does that not make Lerner to blame or did oneill take the money without Lerner knowing doubt it so before you come on here having ago at all those villa fans who care about the club, get your facts right as you only make yourself look stupid !!!!!!!

Agree4 Disagree0

Your the onlyone looking stupid mate got to semi agree with the 1st post,if by every fans expectation we bring in the best manager available in o neil(fact we all thought he was awesome)then he asks for money to spend on players that he thinks will take us to the next level then we cant slag off learner for supporting o niel and supplying the funds.
But we can blame o neil for spending money hand over foot on average players at best, remember he let players like cahill, gardener, ridgewell and davies for peanuts and brought in people like davis,sidwell,reo-coker,heskey and company on stupid wages and massive fees.
he did make some very good signings like young, petrov, carew but these were few and far between and it cost us 110mil debt

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes I know what your saying but what I was trying to say is , yes it's great the the owner backed the manager but oneil wasted a lot of money of which Lerner agreed for him to spend surely the purchases and the wages are sanctioned by the owner ie 10 mil for Davies plus 60000 grand a week agreed by Lerner waste of money both men to blame . I would of kept Cahill and paid him more money saving 10 mil. Lerner is mention to be a business man so they say. that's not good business so again that's why I blame Lerner

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Feb 2012 11:38:36
53.9 m loss taking in bents fee but not those incoming from the young & downing deals!
we have decreased bank borrowing, increased total income
and commercial income and also have severley cut our wage budget!
To me this is great news for the club off the feild and it had to be done.

Rather be in this position that we are in at the moment then that of rangers and portsmouth.

Well done Mr Lerner !!!!!!!!!!!

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Read the papers this morning. Villa has lost nearly £110 million over three years. Not a good position to be in so take the wool out of your eyes and wake up. I have supported villa for over forty years and travelled all over this country and Europe to support them. The club doesn't give a damn about us fans anymore. Lerner and Mccleish out now.

Agree1 Disagree0

To give a damn about us fans what are villa meant to do ?

Agree0 Disagree1

Villa should remember that it's the fans that buy the merchandising and putting bums on seats that keep this club going. It doesn't survive in tv money alone which will start to dry when we go down. Villa and Lerner should remember the history our club has always had with the fans and start respect ting us a bit more. Stop treating us like morons. The attendances are already dropping and they can't give tickets away.

our profits are poor, and that reflects our league position, team play, managment and board. All i can say is get behind the team, mcleish will always be a tyrant in claret and blue... i dont want championship football but the way our seasons panning out i can see championship football becoming more of a reality

And 2 seasons ago we were in europe???

See villa has posted losses of £54 million for the last year. Everyone still think the Quataris will buy this club. Losing money hand over fist. Star striker out for three months. Falling support and a manger who took his previous club down twice in three seasons, and could be adding us to his less than impressive resume. No one will buy us. Get used to it. Mcleish and Lerner have destroyed our beloved club.

After this poor season it looks like Bent has played his last game for us as his out for three months. Cant see him wanting more of this next season. Just adding to the doom and gloom. I will always support the team but when it comes to the management I cant say the same.

look lads do we really think that the 5 teams below us are gonna pick up more points than us for the rest of the season they have all lost at least 5 more games than us this season so far the bottom half of table will prob stay as it is give or take 3 points between teams so it will be prem football for us next year just support the mighty villa boys and wait for summer activity utv matt

one word. Pathetic. Not one player can put their hand up and say they had a decent game. The tatics or lack of were again a joke as was the starting line up and the substitutions. Mcleish does not have a clue and the few decent players we still have can do nothing to deliver. The Entire back four were awfull and struggled to make a pass. Albrighton never tracks back and against a decent side we would have been punished. Bannan again was rubbish and if the stupid rumours that Manchester United were watching him then it is clearly time for AF to quit. Gardener is undoubtably a great talent but it was too bigger job for a young, inexperienced lad to boss the midfield no matter the oposistion. Bent's hold up play was again lacking and if he is out we are hardly going to miss him....and finally why play Gabby for the whole 90...he wasn't fit. Rant over but things HAVE to change....the board isn't going anywhere sadly as the rumours of a takeover are clearly bs but please Lerner for god's sake sack Mcleish. Worst performance I have seen in years and worst Villa team in recent memory.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

And before anyone slags me off and says stop moaning and i should get behing the team...i have been going everyweek for best part of 30 years, travelled from Londan to Wigan today and paid my money so im entitled to moan. i am ashamed to be an Aston Villa fan today for the 1st time so i hope RL & AM our proud of destroying our club.

I would like to see a hole new defence at the start of next season, a new winger and centre mid, would be great if AM could get richardson(sunderland 7mil) samba or dunn(blackburn 9 mil) riise (fulham 5-7) n'zonzi (blackburn 5-7 mil) mat jarvis (wolves 6-8 mil)

i know this probably wont happen but would be a great team and could get us back up to 6-8 and these aint hopeless targets they might think about coming.

AVFC!

Believable0 Unbelievable3

That would be wasted money on all those players !give the young players a chance ,and with all that mony quoted by a real class player

comment after the man city from former liverpool player john barnes...."you can get away with playing that type of football at clubs like birmingham city but not at a club like aston villa" !!..spot on john...listen up lerner and co..its time to get out of villa park and take the ginger clown with you!! ripped up my season ticket in disgust after the city game and no regrets at all...prefer to watch telly now than that utter crap mcginger is happy to serve up! disgaceful whats happening to a once mighty club but now a complete laughing stock!

Believable14 Unbelievable0

I agree mcginger is the worst manager I have seen at the villa, that includes venglos I'd rather have odreary back and that's saying something .when we are in these hard times not knowing if we can our mortgages or put food on our tables, our release is our football club, why should we pay money we have not got to watch this rubbish I applaud you for ripping up your season ticket others should do the same . All protests are a waste of time but keeping away from the games and hitting learner in his pocket may work. So all you two faced fans who moan about the management the owner and the players stay away like a lot of is have done. Then when the gates don't cover the outgoings and Lerner is losing money we may get our wishes cone true.....

Agree8 Disagree0

I think you have got it wrong. If you rip up your season ticket only you lose the money. Lerner isn't bothered about the supporters, only the prestige of owning a Prem. club. As long as Villa are in the Prem he will carry on as he is and only when the championship is achieved will he do something. He, like all of us, will blame Mcleish if we go down. Have you ever known a Yank accept any blame. (see friendly fire)

Agree3 Disagree7

How would a season ticket holder boycotting the games make a dent in Lerners pocket? the ticket is already paid for! The only thing that would drop is sales of pies and a drink at half time, which definetly wouldnt make a dent in lerners pocket!!

Woeful performance yesterday and certainly woeful defending at yet another corner !
As I see it we now have the next four games to move us away from the relegation battle, win all four and we're probably (by the skin of our teeth) ok, lose any of them and we're deep in the s**t and the battle to maintain premier league status. Given the performances of Blackburn, Wigan and Fulham @ the weekend we are going to have to raise our game to secure the maximum points. At least we're fortunate that two of these games are away from home, given we haven't taken three points from any game since the 5th November @ VP !

After watching the villa today I can only say that championship hear we come. They looked like rabbits in headlights and had no direction at all. Yes the players have to stand up and be counted but they can only play as they are coached to play. They look like a team void of conferdence . Mcleish has no idea of tactics and his eago is bigger than villa park, not playing two of our best players just because they spoke there mind is childish and quite frankly perfetic

Believable6 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2012 18:18:51
Just Watched the game on sky. Presenter said its a disappointing day for mcleish. What about the fans?.... that have just paid to watch Their team defend for 89mins. Just shows the fans are considered far little when were the fans that make clubs there life and blood. Give us the respect We deserve as fans.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

You are very naive if you believe that any of the fans are involved in the way the team perform. Get real, they are multi millionaires and dont need to do anything more than turn up, put their kit on and spend 90 mins kicking a ball. You and I would do it for nothing, but not these primadonnas. Lerner wants performance related pay for the players and when you watch the cr.p that we saw on Sunday, you can understand why. None of them should get paid for the performance that they gave. NO ARGUEMENTS THE PLAYERS HAVE TO IMPROVE THEIR PERSONNAL PERFORMANCE!!!!!

Agree5 Disagree1

Im pretty sure most clubs wont be able to perform properly as clubs or businesses if the fans dont put their own money into the club, plus why would a fan want to buy a season ticket to watch 30 defensive games and 8 games of decent play against vunerable teams? Dont question the fans only the setup can change the club...

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Feb 2012 18:06:25
Well what can one say? 90 mins of total rubbish. Selection was wrong because two players got the sulks last week. McLiesh should have played them from the start and told them to prove him wrong. He didn't and at the very end with the real players on the pitch they improved beyond belief. The players must carry the can, they must earn their pay!

Lets be honest, noone wanted Eck from the get go, but most were willing to give him a fair chance to prove himself.

Yes, we went on an unbeaten run to start the season, but it was against poor teams in what can only be described as a very easy set of fixtures. Eck had the chance to put some points on the board here and appease the fanbase......

This was not the case, with the situation culminating with two or three utterly gutless and embarrassing displays at Spurs and then at home to Man U.

6 wins in 24 is simply disgusting considering the players who are in the squad, and lets not forget a host of potential within the reserves that he could utilize.

The last 4 to 6 matches are tough for Villa and we are looking more and more likely to be sucked in to a relegation scrap with pressure mounting and the sudden public outbursts from one or two key players.........

So, question is, protest or not? Will it help us or hinder us if Eck is forced out?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

06 Feb 2012 20:39:16
So we move from Nike premium brand to Macron 3rd rate brand! That is where we are in the 3rd tier of the premiership! The macron deal is only worth 15mil if we finish in the top three and win the Champions League most seasons. Its only worth around 2 mil per season. We also have to sell lots of shirts over 100,000 per season! Watch I bet they are reduced before or after Christmas cos we won't sell that many! Jonny The Villan

newcastle fan here well done it was a really good game have to say Krul kept us in the game but what was your manager doing taking off nzogbia who looked your most dangerous player on the day and bringing on Heskey for me that was a terrible move just wondering what you guys thoughs were on that.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

I agree but great finish by cissae

Agree3 Disagree0

This said a lot about AM Managerment ,Heskey on Passed his best!! leaves Gardner who will be a star 5mins ,he has no idear GET RID ,Gardner should start ,

Agree5 Disagree0

Mcleish and his negative tatics cost us at least a point which I think overall was the least we deserved. We were on top for most of the 1st half and created several good chances as we did in the second half but his poor substitutions and long ball tatics were ultimately our downfall again. Bent showed for me today why he will never be a 1st choice for England missing several chances. At International level you may only get one and need to take it, simply put he isn't good enough.

Agree3 Disagree0

My understanding of the substitutionof N'zog. is that he was unhappy. Read his twitter entry tonight. Also Ireland, who has at last shown some of his form, came off after an arguement with McLeish in the dressing room!

Agree3 Disagree0

Nice to hear from a non biased NUFC fan.

Not one person from the club can understand what went through Big EckĀ“s head today with his substitutions. NZogbia does tend to dribble far too much, but he is clearly up for it and will run his tail off the whole day......to bring Heskey on for him was nothing short of a disgrace.

Apparently Eck had a go at Ireland for not cutting out a cross and was subbed at half time for Bannan...a move that changed the momentum, as most would say Villa were bossing the game for the last 10-12 minutes before half and looked set to carry that momentum into the second half.

To get to the point, Eck is the worst manager in the league easily. I mean look at Swansea and Norwich....the best team Villa could hope to emulate is Newcastle, as (despite of a tight arsed owner) have signed a host of talents that play for the badge and enjoy their football.
This coming despite of Carroll and Enrique being sold, and Barton being booted off the team. Well done NUFC amazing turnaround job, us Villa fans should be so lucky

I knew we were not going to sign anyone in this window. But like a t""t I still watched sky in hope of a suprise. I thought Mr Lerner was an ambitious man who hated coming second, well I think during this window he gas just shown that he is full of s?t. I think it's about time he realised that Aston Villa football club is bigger than him and his false promises and should do the right thing by the fans. so Mr Lerner start to show us that you have got ambition and you want the best for the Villa by 1 getting rid of the joker who you employed to manage the club. 2 in the summer invest in some players that can take this club forward or you have got option 3 and that is sell the club to someone who wants to be a winner who will invest and who will not stab the fans in the back. O and when you do go take that person Mcleish with you...........

Doesn't anyone else feel Villa fall apart as soon as we conced a goal or stop attacking the moment were in the lead unless were playing the lower teams it's frustrating and half of our defense need the sack and we need to replace Petrov as the Linchpin of our Midfield

Fell the club has moved forward byu not buying any players through this window but they need to blood
some more youngster with the plan of buyin quality additions in the summer and getting rid of the dead wood once and for all.

We need all playing for the club just doing that and having no thoughts as using our club as a stepping stone
