GO GET CROUCH.

31 Dec 2015 19:06:09
why?

31 dec 2015 19:50:58
crouch never got a go before we let too many strikers go without a chance. crouch, bowery, harewood delfounsoe.

crouch-maybe. delfounsoe-definite mistake. BOWERY and HAREWOOD? YOU STILL PISHED FROM LAST NIGHT?

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 11:57:48
Bowery, harewood lol two of the worse players ever!!
Crouch not given a chance?? Really?? Was given all the chance in the world at villa park!
Delfounso!! Jury is still out! Headless chicken at vp! Like a gabby, only less pace, and dare I say, less ability. However, he has bloomed else where.

If you had said, albrighton, balaban and Kozak, then ok!!
But Bowery and harewood!! Have a word!! You need to take more water with it!!

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 12:38:27
crouch has played 500 career games only scord 130 goals. not exactly a top goal scorer. gabby 325 games 75 goal-yet he's a laughing stock as a striker people say

1 in 3 games vs 1 in 4 game. they have roughly same scoring rate.

More like kingvilla's brain working overtime on fantasies. Not for the first time.
Our chances of losing Lerner are less than us winning the next two games.
The man really has no concern regarding the club or us the supporters.
AVFC is merely a plaything for a millionaire and will remain as such.
How he a made money in the first place astounds me!

At the risk of being hammered by some on this site, I am asking the question "is Richards as good as we want to believe? "
Over the last few games when he wasn't playing we picked up a few points. Then he and Clark play together and we give away 2 goals. The entire defence was a shambles with both scorers in so much space. Where was Richards for the first? About 10 yards from his man. Where was Richardson for the second? Having a rest about 10 yards away. Where we're the Richards and Clark for the second?
The blame could be put on Garde who changed the back line.
When Richards was signed the press reported that he would only sign if he always played when he was fit. Is this why he played yesterday?
Will we beat Sunderland? I doubt it.
There are several players that should be encouraged to depart in January and be replaced, but who will be wiling to sign for us?
Unless our owner is willing to fund at least £100m and we pay those coming in silly pay we will stagnate and slide down and not only into the championship.
When Deadly sold to Lerner he said the club would be in safe hands, Dracula and blood bank come to mind.
In any sport you have to improve to stand still and we have done the exact opposite.
I bet MON feels very relieved that he walked when he realised that Lerner was not going to fund the team to an extent that was needed to improve!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

29 Dec 2015 10:54:24
I agree about Richards. I like him and I still think he can be a good player at Villa, but he needs a better central partner. He needs have a good RB and CB either side to continually talk to him. Or he should go to RB. I personally wouldn't have changed the defence. No manage would allow a clause whereby if you're fit you play. I think he said he would only sign of he could play at CB.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Dec 2015 16:55:17
Sorry lads I have to disagree with both of you.
Richards is never a central defender and never will be, he should be played at RB from now on, if he is not happy with that bring in a rookie we have nothing to lose as it stands.
We have to start being positive and decisive, and go for it, Who Dares Wins.

We are a shambles why change a team so much were a prem team who should be fit enough to play often enough blame manager for team selection today I go most matches home and away after Watford I knew we were down but now after Norwich we definately are and any 1 who thinks different need their head looking at I had faith which sadly has now gone club is rotton from the top I've accepted were down so please randy sell the club now.

Well after traveling to norwich today iam gutted i really thought we would win today it does matter who comes in now its all over we ent going to get 10 wins there's only 21 games left so we need champions league form. Terrible today no fight no passion how many mistakes does alan hutton have to make to be dropped last 4 games he's give away a pen scored a own goal an twice made errors leading to a goal. Iam not overly confident when we go down we will come straight back. I actually belive if this squad we have now was in the championship we wouldn't be in the top 6 there awful! Villa fans great again we give everythink to them an get nothink back! These players havnt got the guts or the class to stay up an it really hurts me a lot! We need more than remy to keep us up! Collymore was right after the game lerner out fox out paddy out hold your head in shame! I don't think villa should ever win the league but we should always be a top 8 club! Rip ASTON VILLA see you tuesdays thursdays an fridays instead of fighting like lions you ran like pussy cats! I WANT MY VILLA BACK!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

29 Dec 2015 01:18:35
Lets be realistic about playing championship football next year and plan ahead for that. There's a bunch of players in the under 21 squad that should be given an opportunity now, its not even risky in my opinion to start giving the new crop a go.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2015 01:11:49
I have been on here many times and moaned at Villa fans for constantly moaning - but today I think I need to have a whinge.

Let's face it, we're down. I have this heart over head thing where my heart still says we have a chance. But let's be honest, if it was Stoke in our position, or Bournemouth or anyone really, we'd all be saying they were down and we'd put our mortgages on it. So it's almost certain. We have to win 10 out of the next 19 games. But we've hardly won ten games in 2 and a half seasons. My heart says if we get some good players in in January and other results go for us we could do it but my head says save the money and spend it as wages and transfers for next season in the championship keeping Amavi and traore and building a new team around them.

Where does the blame lie? Well there's the mystery. You'd say it lies with the manager but can it really be the fault of the last 5 or 6 managers? Surely they weren't all useless? So is it the players? They are he guys that cross the white line? But then look at how many players that have left us deemed not good enough by managers and fans that are currently playing above us.

Myhill, Craig Gardner, Steve Davis, Gary Cahill (yes, Martin o'neill thought Curtis Davis was better), Marc albrighton, James Collins, and I'm sure there are more. There is something about our great club that is wrong. How can we have such a great academy that wins the youth equivalent of the champions league but only one player gets through? How can we have players that perform so poorly for us that then go on to perform at a higher level?

Could it be the fans fault? You'd say no, but I don't think we're completely innocent. I think we put so much pressure on the players at times that it's impossible for them to play with the freedom they'd like. Players like albrighton who villa fans laid into everytime he put a cross wrong (which was quite often granted) but he played like he was always on edge. I just think the expectation of Villa fans is too high, and we always talk about our European cup - but Forest won it twice and look at them.

Finally, is it the board? And my opinion is that these guys are more to blame than anyone. I have supported Randy Lerner while people have given him a proper sl*gging. But my opinion now having really read up on how Villa is run is I don't think he has a clue. Our club is run by money men trying to make money - not by football people. I remember when Newcastle had the same and they got relegated and they're still in a bad position because Ashley follows the £ signs. I remember lots of people hating the Doug Ellis era but this would never have happened under him. Villa fans want a rich multi billionaire to buy our club and i too would love that but I would take a wealthy owner with footballing people overseeing the running of our club. It's the one thing we lack. Footballing expertise from the top. If we don't get that we will dissapear into the championship and potentially lower than that. We are Villa and we will be back. Bigger clubs than us have gone down and returned just as we will. Look at clubs like rangers who ceased to be and have rebuilt.

For anyone that got this far and didn't give up reading, thank you. I would love to hear your replies good or bad. The one thing we all have in common is our love for our club.

Villa till I die.

off todays team alone. richardson, bacuna, westwood, sinclair, gana, gestede are just not good enough.

grealish-he didn't have much time but did he even touch the ball when he came on?

adama-really lifts the team when he comes on,

ayew-is this really the same lad that for first 10 games or so was awful for villa?

veretout-has spells where he looks great

hutton- needs to remember to get back more. attacking good but what's point in that when your crossing ball to players that are about 5 and half foot tall

clarke and richards both could be good defenders but so many times they just seem to go sleep.

playing well is not getting us the points we need to survive and unfortunately I can't for the life of me see where we are going to get any from? while I keep thinking mathematically there is still some hope of survival I can't help but think we are sunk after today's game against Norwich. Unless the football gods shine down on us and we can get the required players in, in the January transfer window and get things turned around quite quickly I'm afraid it makes for bad reading I am trying to be realistic and hopeful looking at the fixtures thinking if we can just win this one nick some points here but every week they shatter my belief It's sad and heart breaking to see such a great club like A. V. F. C in the position they are in. I guess as long as there is a little hope I still believe. VTID.

To be honest Ged we are not playing well are we, we are too slow, and not anywhere near direct enough.
One incident today, we made 18 passes got in the final third, no shot or threat we just gave it away, 5 passes and 30 seconds later Guzan was making a save.
All the teams around us are all capable of doing this, we are very poor mate, very poor.

When will our next league win come? And who against?
It's almost unbelievable how bad this run is.
Which decent players in their right mind would want to come to such a pitiful club in such awful circumstances?
It's so bad that even followers of other teams (local too) seem to be sympathetic and almost embarrassed to talk football in my company.
This is without doubt the lowest point I've ever experienced supporting Villa over the last 40 years.
Apologies, for moaning but had to get this off my chest.

Same here villanick/ villafanatic, I have seen the same highs and lows as you mate, 60 years in fact, but this lot take the biscuit by a long long way they are shocking .
I am a proud Villa supporter, and I always will be a villa fan, but that team would struggle in league 1.
I know people will respond by saying it ain`t over till the fat lady sings buts she has been singing for weeks now, we have gone, face it and accept we are going down.
I am just saying it as I see it, Of course I hope I am wrong, but come on lads let`s get real

Was at the game yesterday and it just reiterated to me, if we had a decent striker up top with ayew IE Austin, Remy someone of that calibre, big and physical like gustede but also clinical we would have won that game 3 or 4 - 1. Gustede had 4 scoring oppertunities and missed them all, 3 being headers, he simply isn't good enough at this level.

GK
RB - Hutton is poor, bacuna as cover only
LB - loan to cover Amavi Injury
CM - experienced head required
CF - main man up front for Ayew to play off

That is the minimum required. Any thoughts?

I can't believe people slagging, Sanches off, Untill he went off he was every where breaking up their play . Rudy had his best game since he's been there, won everything in the air and held the ball up better . Gana and Vertout get better every game, Adama should of had longer . The worst player once again was Westwood, once Sanches went off he was lost . Ayew is a player they of all got to look at, once again he worked his socks off . If we had another coupe of players like him, I reckon we would be alright.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

It never became so evident as today that we have a team of players who mostly have one foot.
For the life of me how do these players earn the amount of money they do when they can only use one foot.
Gil as an example would be far more effective and a much better player if he could use his right peg as well.
This is a big weakness with this Villa side, and forces players to pass sideways and backwards because of their limited ability.
Not a a bad performance today, but if you can`t win your home games you have had it, failed to score again from open play dear oh dear not looking good is it.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

26 Dec 2015 17:14:10
is it just me or do other fans really dislike hutton. he's always available going forward i honestly think the other team doesn't bother marking him because he can't deliver a single good ball into the box.

so wide going forward yet so central when it comes to defending. its ridiculous. great performance today only to be let down by him yet again. west ham got down the wing un opposed 3 or 4 times before that goal and hutton was nowhere close to them on any occasion.

need to play bacuna right back and just give a youth player a chance at left back because i wouldn't let hutton or richardson near my team. too bad about amavi he looked solid.

Sorry wozdvilla totally disagree.
Best full back we have available, and 90% of time our only out for the ball.

His poor position, which all our defence suffers with, is down to a lack of confidence in each other, and worse of all their goal keeper.

27 Dec 2015 13:10:44
how can people think he has been one of our best players. crazy. he does always get the ball and he is always free but to me that is the biggest problem because he does nothing when he gets it. if he wasnt there atleast the team would be forced to try something more creative and find a player with talent. bacuna to me is a solid right back how many times did we see him get a great ball into benteke last season. shouldn't have got rid of matty lowton . why did we get rid of him.

Becoming increasingly frustrated looking at stories about villas attacking options. I'm sorry but the middle of the pitch is where games are won and lost. We have a terrible midfield.

If the last time on the 1980s and the 1970s are anything to go by I think we will continue to have a good home and away following as much for the novelty of hopefully winning a few matches! The opposition at VP won't always be too large but saying that a ground and club like villa will be an attraction in the Championship. First season if we go down I think about 30k will be usual but if stay down I can see that falling.

After watching the last two games I think it's glaringly obvious we need a premier league striker to partner Ayew, Gustede has showed he is no where near good enough. He is good enough to ping balls to and play off when his on form but is no where near clinical enough, against Arsenal they make a mistake an he slips over an doesn't get to the ball and then he misses a header which is meant to be his strongest asset. Against Newcastle he came on and to be fair he did well but once again when ayew fired the ball across goal and he missed it completely it is blatantly obvious we need a proven premier league striker up there. No manager seems to want to give Kozak a go (although I believe had he played we would have beat Newcastle) so it seems a striker must come in January, and not these random foreigners who will just be the same, we need proven I. E. Austin, Remy (loan) - big men who are a threat in the air but will also score goals!
Also whilst I mention Newcastle can any shed any light on the Traore situation? The last 30 minutes of that game would have been perfect for him, it was end to end veretout and such were all tired so couldn't beat a man, I strongly think had he come on we would have won simply because the way the last half hour turned out.

Who thinks we will get relegated?

I think it depends on who we bring in in January, we have to stop signing these unknown players who the manager just hopes will do well.

We need to keep believing, look at Leicester- they were in this position this time last year and now they're top of the league! UTV.

I am banking on a nuclear holocaust and rise of the machines by April 2016 to prevent our relegation. I will still sing and shout for the team and support them all the way! If we win our next 3 games and all around us lose then I will have a glimmer of hope, never say never and the last 2 teams bottom at Xmas survived but were never 10 points off safety!

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Dec 2015 12:44:27
I think it;s looking pretty grim
We need to go offensive in the next 3 games and see where it takes us
We need at least 7 points to build a platform from where to build a recovery
Anything less than that and I think we are doomed
And before anyone jumps down my throat, I am not being negative; not lessening my support; just answering the question honestly.

Most of the game, most shots. An all together better second half.
We can beat the drop, believe it!
Let's say it out loud, we are Aston Villa and we will be in the prem next year.
The team bottom at Christmas over the last 2seasons have avoided the drop.
We can beat the drop, believe it.

as I've said most weeks until we are down we need to keep singing at be that "12th man" damn that's 1 of the 7 points i thought we was easy getting over the next few weeks so as long as these teams at the top of the league stop losing to the teams around us and we bang a few away we could be out by mid jan.

A owner owns the club. A chairman runs it for him and is in charge the owner is in the background then. Some owners are also chairman as is lerner at mo. Take spurs as an example. Levey is the chairman and runs the club and is known as the boss but he does not own spurs. It's almost the same has you owning a business but having a manager run it for you.

Djb You have picked up on a point I made to my family only a couple of weeks ago.
Everything seems so laboured and slow, this is why we are being caught in possession so often.
My feelings are because our players are short on quality and ability they are not sure when or where to go with or without the ball.
Even Gil has started delaying crossing the ball or playing it forward, all because nobody is making the runs, therefore he is delaying and playing short one two`s backwards or sideways.
So bloody annoying to watch.

The guy is incredible.
Says he is a business man, yet has made us an embarrassment. How can a genuine business man not be prepared to invest properly this season, knowing what next season brings?

He says he is a villa fan. How can a serious fan be allowing this to happen, when at their disposal is the means for it to stop?

He pretends he is a football man, and that he and his advisers know what it takes to not only keep us in the league, but for us to be a success!! Yet, no prem experience brought, no English grit brought.
Buy from lower/lesser leagues, that's where your skill set will ceiling.

It's not the players fault, and to be honest, mostly you can't blame their effort, or desire. They simply are not good enough.
It's remi garde I feel sorry for. He's been sold a lie. He is a top man, genuine, and articulate, and doesn't deserve this.

Only one way forward. Lerner to man up, step up, join the party, if not, grow up, walk away, and give us our villa back.

If we are going down. Let's go down swinging!

like most i'm not sure who would want to come to us at the minute but it needs to happen. that or lerner needs to do one in the next 2 3 weeks and the new owners need to fund it. we do not have the players to stay up but you never know, we might beat newcastle, sunderland and norwich. but if we lose one them games it going to be very hard.

Why don't we learn, the only way we can play teams like Arsenal, is by working hard . We haven't got their ability, so you work like we did second half . Push up get in their faces, when we did it second half we forced them into making mistakes . Ayew once again covered every blade of grass . Hutton sees more of the ball than anybody, it's not his fault he hasent got the ability that's needed, his work rate can never be questioned. Sanches, you could see was wary of heading the ball with that mask on, but at the moment it's him or Westwood. Adama should of come on before, let him just sit up front and do his magic, their ch would have been worried by his pace . Onto the next one Villa for ever.

So disappointing.
As a unit they seem unable to make decisions on the pitch. Failing to get back when Gunners broke, losing the ball in middle of the park.
Bacuna at left back, is Clark injured?
Where is the midfield leader who is able to bring players into play?
Garde must be wondering why he agreed to take on the role of manager at VP.
Any genuine owner would be asking questions but our owner is undoubtedly the most stupid owner of any business in the world and is totally responsible for our plight. How can we get rid of this useless Yank?
If he doesn't bite the bullet I am worried how far the club will slide over the next 3years? Lerner does not deserve us and we definitely don't deserve the style of ownership he demonstrates.

Kozak isn't playing because of his contract structure he is on £35,000 a week, but with win bonus, goal bonus, and appearance bonus can earn up to £65,000 a week, and if scored a hat-trick he could earn another £25,000, so potentially earn himself £90,000 a match, that's why he isn't playing.

My Uncle Steve’s girlfriend, Jackie, works in one of the burger bars in the Car Park near the club shop, so he’s well-in at Villa Park. She’s heard from a reliable club insider (Mike, whose cousin Geoff operates one of the Holte-End turnstiles) that Kozak’s contract contains a clause that says that for each goal he scores, as well as his overblown wages, he also gets given a decent second-hand car, a couple of virgins and a positive outlook. Unfortunately, he's discovered that none of these are actually available in the Birmingham area, so he’s refusing to play

Mind you, in the early 80’s Jackie was also responsible for the rumour that if Gary Shaw ‘gets the ball, he’s bound to score’ and she was wrong about that as well since he only managed an average of one goal every three games ….

Okora looked good, considering he haddent played for ages, even Lescott looked better second half . Ayew must of covered every blade of grass, the times he was back covering, Sinclair worked his socks off working back as well . Does anyone think a January loan move for Victor Valdes could work? I know he hasn't played much recently but would still be an upgrade from Guzan?

got bored the other night after the u21s game and tweeted as many villa players as i could find asking them to gget the boss to come out in the press and tell us why he insists on not playing kozak when one of the biggest problems we have is not scoring goals, needless to say i didn't get any replays also ashley cole never answred when i asked if he fancied a dig at playing for us even if just the rest of this season.
