With begovic now looking more likely to cool the bench at Chelsea than come to villa park, who would people like to see sherwood go for in the gk market which he obviously thinks need strengthening? we all want courtois or de gea but of the keepers we could attract who is the preferred option? Would you take a punt on Heaton? Personally I'd like to see Kaspar schmichael. Any other options out there?

cpmm84

1.) 28 Jun 2015 19:21:37
Ospina or Frazier Forster!!

2.) 28 Jun 2015 19:29:34
I would love to see kasper schmicheal mate.
When they came to vp I thought he looked world class.

3.) 28 Jun 2015 20:51:44
I would much rather the money be spent on some decent full backs and a right winger to pair with Sinclair TBH. Guzan is one of our 3 best players (with Benteke and Delph)IMO so I think any significant funds being pumped into a goalkeeper is a bit misguided.

4.) 28 Jun 2015 20:53:00
Kasper would be a good signing but I don't get that Guzan now is suddenly not good enough??? Ok made calamity against MCFC but surely should use our meager funds towards more quality out field players? Just a thought

5.) 28 Jun 2015 21:10:14
Sunderlands gk pantomilan or heaton or mandala french gk he's ace

6.) 28 Jun 2015 21:30:43
NickB6 I think guzan is a good keeper but I have to say last season was nowhere near his best for us. His shot stopping abilities are fine but I think some of his decision making is questionable at times not only his calamity against city. That's just my opinion. I'd agree I wouldn't put gk as a top priority this summer, certainly an lb and cm are more pressing matters but it seems Tim is actively looking at a new choice No.1.

7.) 28 Jun 2015 22:14:47
I'd try Victor Valdes see if he actually wants some time on the pitch. Wages probably a obstacle but worth a try

8.) 28 Jun 2015 23:23:46
Cpmm84, if TS has lost faith in Guzan and sees no way back then looks like new keeper time. Was really impressed with Guzan when stepped up to No. 1 but agree last season not his beats, but then again who did have a good one?

9.) 30 Jun 2015 12:33:07
i don't think we need a keeper but if we go after one i'd like to see Fabianski at villa park, had a mint season at swansea

Take a bow dr. T and Bruce. This is shaping up to be the most productive transfer window I can ever remember.

cpmm84

1.) 31 Jan 2017 17:46:36
Absolutely
Outstanding stuff.
Kodija and Hogan. Wow!

2.) 31 Jan 2017 19:17:33
Scott Hogan in for 11 Million (ish)
Gestede and Westwod off the wage bill and with 11 million back for them.
Brilliant business

3.) 31 Jan 2017 19:25:57
Yet people are still moaning!

4.) 31 Jan 2017 21:20:17
Thinking outside the box. maybe we should loan McC to Forest, he can't play against us Saturday, then would be helping them take points of our rivals if his form kicks in? We have 19 or 22 games left this season, Hogan, Kodjia, RHM and Gabby should cover it

AVB is out of work at the minute right? Any takers? Also Marco Silva is a hugely rated young coach who has managed sporting and olympiakos and currently out of a job by his own choosing. Just two left field names. What do people think?

cpmm84

1.) 04 Oct 2016 12:56:17
I agree, cpmm84. Both of them fit Aston Villa, and they're both experienced. AVB is the one I prefer.

2.) 05 Oct 2016 10:21:56
Good coaches, but somehow i think they're holding out for a spanish vacancy or two to emerge, but it'd be top banana if something happened.

05 Aug 2016 10:43:22
Have we announced our captain yet or did I miss it?

cpmm84

1.) 05 Aug 2016 12:20:56
It hasn't been announced but I assume it'll be Elphick, he was captain at Bournemouth before we signed him. But RDM has a habit of making goalkeepers his captain so Gollini could be a surprise candidate- he was named captain against Cambridge in pre-season.

2.) 05 Aug 2016 12:32:40
I'd guess it would be elphick too. Think gollini is perhaps a bit too young just yet.

3.) 05 Aug 2016 16:16:52
it is him.

30 Jul 2016 16:42:49
Today's game has been the first I've had a chance to see but it has dawned on me now how much we actually need a creative midfielder and striker. I thought we might be ok in the championship. What about van der vaart?

cpmm84

1.) 30 Jul 2016 16:56:44
His legs were going years ago which was why Tottenham got rid. The Championship is no place for a player like that.

22 Jul 2016 15:10:24
If amavi does leave what would you say to Jose Enrique? Free transfer great player, had his injuries but would work hard for the team and bring good experience.

cpmm84

1.) 22 Jul 2016 16:16:39
He was a great player but I would just dig in my heels and refuse any bid for Amavi
He has 3 years on his contract and would be awesome in the Championship
In any case, I think Premier league clubs will want to see how he has recovered from his leg-break before bidding for him. Only a club run by total idiots would sign a player before they knew how his recovery was going (yes, I do remember Downing)

2.) 22 Jul 2016 17:17:27
When do we stop being a selling club :- (

3.) 22 Jul 2016 18:24:11
Sadly I think every club except two Spanish clubs are!

Simple mendax! I agree totally with you about it being an extended preseason. I said to my buddy (Utd fan, I know but we all have friends that are far from perfect) at close of the January window that we had invested wisely for next season. Top two next year without a doubt in my mind with a feeling we top the table.

Not doubting that you're correct with your info kingvilla but a question for you and all the other villa fans, who would you prefer to see coming in? Jedinak or diawara? Both have their pros and cons.

For me I'd prefer jedinak this year, an older more experienced head in centre mid seems right for the championship IMO.

Diawara, who I know very little about to be honest, seems like he could be a great signing but could he see us as just a stepping stone to bigger things in England? Granted we would probably make a nice chunk of change from him but that's not what we should be doing if dr t is really looking to build the club again. Is the young man the leader we need in cm?

If priority is promotion then jedniak is the player we need right now I think. Of course I will support the young fella too and hope I haven't stereotyped him as your average footballer mentality.

Has had his issues but a talented guy. Last chance saloon so maybe if he gets his head right he could be a great signing.

Bruce no question. We do need to find a system that works and stick to it but I'd be confident we are top 2 next season.

some serious psychological work needed in the squad.
