Barry Bannan is also set to leave the club.

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Does he need dropping off anywhere

Agree12 Disagree6

He's a good back up he won't be sold

Agree3 Disagree14

I don't know where he goes really
He's nowhere near good enough for the Prem (even as back up) and I suspect his stature will be even more of a handicap in the Championship
Mendax

Agree6 Disagree4

Should be able to sell him to a top champ or footballing prem team. He is techinqually very good, he has great ball control and passing and could be a good buy for someone but needs to learn other elements of the game to play for Villa.

We rated him as one of our best young players a year or two ago.

Swansea or Leicester why not 2.5m and we could all be red faced in three seasons if they develop him well

Agree2 Disagree1

I will take him anywhere he wishes to go

Agree2 Disagree3

I think he's ok to drive himself now, he's got his license back!

Aston Villa are said to be after the following players:

Troy Deeney - Watford
Shaun Maloney - Wigan
Younes Belhanda - Montpellier
Adam LeFondre - Reading
Will Hoskins - Brighton
Junior Hoilett - QPR

They aren't all confirmed, just what I have heard.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

Hoilett won't happen now Tonev has come in and Bellhanda will happen providing N'zogbia goes to Monaco

What about Popov, Murphy, Cresswell, Martins-Indi, Dragovic

Agree3 Disagree2

We will not get any of those. none of them good enough anyway apart from belhanda obviously

Agree3 Disagree3

The top list ridiculous the 2nd list a lot more feasable with much better players. only belhanda from top list is good the rest rubbish. could do with all from 2nd list though.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Maloney and LeFondre both proved they are good enough last season

Agree6 Disagree5

Maloney hmmm maybe but he's getting on a bit now. as for lefondre il jus sit here and laugh all day thinking of him at villa. need someone a lot better. we won't get anywhere signing players of his calibre he can't even get in readings team and i'd like to think we are aiming a lot higher.

Agree5 Disagree1

Popov has already said villa are in close talks with him plus petrov has reffered him to Lambert

Agree4 Disagree0

If we want to survive relegation we shouldn't be signing players that just got relegated. Its as simple as that!

Agree3 Disagree3

An example of a relegation player we've signed is Ashley Young & Stewart Downing! They haven't done too bad considering they were relegated have they now!

Agree5 Disagree1

I don't understand why Maloney keeps getting mentioned, previously when at Villa, he was inconsistant and left stating he was home sick. What's changed?

Agree2 Disagree1

Le Fondres goal to game time ratio in the Prem is decent. Don't think he would be as bad a signing as some are sayin as a 'goal poacher' off the bench

Agree0 Disagree3

The only good thing young and downing did for villa was made a bit of money. I don't care what anybody says, the only reason we used to be such a force is because of milner and the defence! Young had one good season then became greedy and downing is the only winger I have ever seen that cannot beat the first man with a cross. Where are they now? Out of the three milner is the only one who plays regularly and consistantly, as well as being the only one constantly being capped for england.

Agree2 Disagree4

Young an Downing did nothing for villa? Lmfao!

Having no knowledge about football is one thing, it's all about opinion but Some people really are jealous an bitter!

Downing was outstanding for villa, especially in his last season for villa an Milner wasn't even there at that point.

Young scored goals an made goals, he was winning games on his own at times.

>Scg87

Agree10 Disagree2

Young was superb for Villa! His set pieces and general delivery were better then anything we have had at the villa before or after over last 15 years or so and for anyone to question his impact on the team is ludicrous.

Should any new signing perform like Young did then 90% of Villa fans will be well chuffed.

Agree9 Disagree3

As a lower league watcher, and Crewe hater - most folks will tell you Murphy has more potential than Westwood. Having been at the Villa - Chelsea game I thought Westwood had developed well - not out of place, so what could Murphy do? And he can get a few goals as well - sign him quickly!

Agree6 Disagree0

By the end I was glad to see the back of young. He lost us as many games as he won us by being greedy, shooting from stupid angles when he could've assisted a tap in and his inability to dive was boring. Downing was a good player but if you can't see that he used us to pay his medical bills then buggared off you are blind. Like you say its an opinion and this is an opinion of somebody that hasn't missed a home game since before young and downing were at villa.

Agree1 Disagree7

Not being funny but it wasn't downing's fault we spent £10m on him when he was injured, an we got his high level performances on a consistant basis and we got £20m out of his transfer so he didn't owe us nothing. Some fans expect players to have loyalty towards clubs but when it comes to showing loyalty towards players some "fans" forget that word

FYI I've had a season ticket for 8 of the last 10 season, so I saw a fair few home games myself.

>Scg87

Agree5 Disagree0

It was £12.5m, we then payed £2.5 million for him to spend 3 months in american trying to fix himself. He was sold for £17m plus add-ons which weren't activated because he didn't play enough games. So we made £2m out of downing and considering they still owe us a fraction of that we're still at a loss. He had one good season for us and let's be honest, he's a bit better than shaun maloney.

Agree2 Disagree4

To the guy who said he hasn't missed a home game since young signed for villa. You say young only had one good season? Young probably scored between 8-10 goals a season 4 seasons in a row, aswell as 10-15 assists a season, doesn't sound like you even saw him play to me, maybe you were at the wrong ground lol

On Downing, decent first season, exelent second season, one of the best players in the prem that year, an if we can all get passed being bias die hard AV fans, then we can all agree the reason Downing left was because he saw us fighting relegation for the next 2 seasons.

Agree4 Disagree1

Doesn't really matter what we paid for Downing, he didn't set the price did he? An it doesn't really matter if we have recieved all the money from Liverpool or not, that's the club reps who agreed to that silly add on method of payment.

Facts are Young, Milner and Downing were great for us, yes we'd have all liked to keep them, but they had ambition that we couldn't match at that point in time

Lets not get into the whole have or haven't been to every home game for 7 years because I know I have. All i'm saying is in my opinion the defence and milner where the main reason for our success, if we still had those, anybody could do young and downings job which is exactly what albrighton did. Also as for the young scored 10 goals for 4 season that's a lie as he only hit double figures once. Both our wingers have scored more goals this year than young did in any season for villa, despite playing less games due to lack of european football!

Agree0 Disagree0

I said young scored between 8 to 10 goals a season 4 seasons in row, not 10 goals in everyone of them seasons which I was right about cus I just checked :)
An I'm guessing Young got far more assists than Gabby and Weimann have.

Hewing news that a new signing is set to be announced next week. I think it will either be Younes Belhanda or Luke Murphy. Belhanda has labelled Aston Villa as his first choice according to a French Radio. And Luke Murphy has been heavily linked with Villa during the season.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

According the Morrocan media Villa representatives are in Morroco talking to Belhanda so hopefully that could be him.

Agree3 Disagree2

I cannot see how or where Belhanda will fit into the team, unless there is going to be a complete change in the style of play. As another option, his cost will be prohibitive. He is not the type of player I would have thought PL would have favoured, however, stranger things have happened.
In Lambert we trust.

Agree4 Disagree5

Lambert was after Coutinho in January remember, obviously he has a plan in mind. Maybe make to the diamond formation?

Agree4 Disagree2

Yes he wants to play a 4-2-3-1 last season at the end he was playing a 4-3-2-1 but I think he will use both next season Millzy B38

Agree3 Disagree1

Coutinho is a skilled passer, fantastic through balls, Belhanda appears to be more of a shooter? not sure he will be a great team player, hopefully I'm wrong.

Agree3 Disagree3

I'm guessing PL has the 4-2-3-1 formation in mind, with gabby belhanda an weimann as the 3 supporting benteke, belhanda will fit in no problem, he's quality, scores goals makes goals, just what we need from the AM position

Great news tonev passes medical

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Agree6 Disagree0

Buzzing :) great signing! Onwards and upwards! UTV VTID

Agree7 Disagree0

That kid is a good footballer we've done well to get him god bless ya stan

Agree6 Disagree2

Hopefully the next best thing since Ashley young

Agree7 Disagree0

He's signed three year deal wop wop

Agree6 Disagree0

I think we might have purchased a little gem here!

Agree7 Disagree0

Awesome signing, looks like a game changing player wev got. Would also like to see free agent Franco Di Santo snapped up for competition too.

Agree6 Disagree8

He as signed get in there lol

Agree5 Disagree1

Close source saying that popov is due for a medical on Sunday. Can anyone back me up on this?

Agree4 Disagree4

Popov will follow, he did an interview that got roughly translated into him saying he's looking forward to opening talks but he said 'these things take time, a deal might not be done until the 31st of august, the tonev transfer looks to be moving a lot faster and I hope I can follow alex to villa, we're both very excited at the prospect'

First offer of around £20 million will see benteke off down London to either Arsenal or Chelski. This will depend if Arsenal will pay the high salary he wants (approx £80 grand a week). If not it's of the Chelski as we all know they have money to burn.

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Chelsea don't want Benteke & Arsenal don't either! He isn't leaving now & it'll be next summer if he does at all.

Agree9 Disagree4

You obviously didn't pick up on yesterday's news that Villa have valued Benteke at 40m minium

Agree12 Disagree3

With Arsenals main targets being rooney & fellaini, and the FACT that Chelsea have just submitted bid's for Hulk and Cavani. Yeah right, Benteke needs to be considered a prooven world class player before a big club buys him at the moment he would be considered a gamble.

Don't Run Before You Can Walk.

Agree8 Disagree3

And Carroll was sold for £35m by Newcastle, Liverpool were ripped off good and proper there, Benteke is worth no more than £10mil

Agree3 Disagree14

Media is a wonderful propaganda spreader better than the fans

Agree10 Disagree1

No more then 10m? In todays market?
Of course he is!

Agree9 Disagree4

Benteke is worth no more than 10 mil. Are you an absolute fool

Agree7 Disagree7

Here are some examples of players that were sold for more than £10m in the last few years, these are just off the top of my head:
Matt Jarvis
Steven Fletcher
Stewart Downing
Jordan Henderson
Andy Carroll
Gervinho
Joe Allen
Peter Crouch

Benteke is a lot better than all of these players so based on the highest fee payed there, which is £35m for Andy Carroll after scoring 11 goals in 20 games for newcastle he is worth near enough £40m. yes it is a lot of money for a player with only one year of prem experience but blame liverpool for that. I can assure you if the fee is anything less than £20m there is no point in us selling as we will never get a player as good for that money unless we take a big chance like we did with benteke. and even if the £40m isn't a fair valuation its a very good 'hands-off' warning. spurs are constantly doing the same with bale so why shouldn't we!

Agree8 Disagree1

In todays Market after the season he has had he is worth bout £25 mill. He doesn't look the kind of player that will just fizzle away either as he wants to be in the belgium squad so he has something to aim for and will spur him on. will be worth more this time next year especially if he has a good World Cup.

Agree3 Disagree1

Manchester city have just payed 34m for fernandinhio, and he is 28 so Benteke who is probably a better player than fernandinhio and 5 years younger with 3 years left on his contract would fetch easily 34m, compare this also with what Liverpool payed for Carroll and then try and tell me what he is worth.

So Aston Villa have put a 40m price tag on him because that is how much he is worth to our club, and if you disagree your wrong.

Agree9 Disagree1

Why react? This whole Benteke thing is a PR stunt by our board!

Agree3 Disagree4

Right, whoever said Benteke is only just worth £10 million, you're a moron. The person who just said that Bentke is worth more than £40 million, you're also a moron.

Strikers at the top levels should be price-tagged by the number of goals they scored last season, so about £1 million should be added for every goal they score. Benteke scored 18 league goals or 23 if you count his cup goals as well. So, in theory, Benteke should be worth around £15 million (minimum)- £25 million (and that is pushing it).

The only clubs that are really going to be interested in Benteke are Spurs and Arsenal.

Spurs- Adebayor has been off this season and are looking to get rid of him, leaving them with just Defoe as their only striker. I've also heard that Spurs want Andi Weimann from Villa as well, to open up the striking options.

Arsenal- Giroud, good player, hit and miss all season. Walcott, can he really be classed as a striker. no, not really. Podolski is apparently going back to Germany, probably Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal will probably looking for another striker.

Benteke, won't however, go to Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool. Liverpool can't afford another flop like they got with Carroll, no dis-respect to Carroll he's a terrific player but he was never going to fit at Liverpool this season with Brendan Rogers coming in, hopefully he'll go somewhere good, he deserves it. And the two Manchester Clubs have great Strikers anyway, and if they were going to get someone else in, there going to get a proven striker. Chelsea are going to look elsewhere.

I think your pretty stupid if you can't agree with the majority of things I've just put. Not even a Villa fan. Up the Walsall.

Dean Smith's Barmy Army.

Agree0 Disagree10

Rubbish 15m for Benteke reason is he can easily have a rubbish season next year and flop.

Agree0 Disagree8

What villa value Benteke at and what they get are 2 different things. In football money talks and £20 million now is better than him leaving for free in 12 months time.

Agree2 Disagree7

If its £1m per goal why wasn't carroll bought for £11m?

Agree8 Disagree0

Million pound a goal?u r unbelieveable mate u think u know it all. u think strikers are judged on goals only? benteke is valued 40mil by villa for the reason that they won't sell him for less. it is the SELLING clubs valuation that matters and nothing else. and what person thinks he will leave for free next year when he has 3 years left on his current deal?u clearly know NOTHING
