Get a grip - decent set of signings on a good budget ( more than Liverpool ) that has improved the squad, will force competition for places, is sustainable and gives us a fighting chance of survival

How about you give the players a chance to fit in and get playing then judge some of the best players come from lower leagues Barry,Bale,Oxlade Chamberlain,Ashley Young,Chris Smalling and leighton baines to name a few. What sort of club are we supporting? Our rivals that we should be matching QPR, Fulham, Sunderland, Southampton and Stoke are all adding "quality" to thier squads. AVFC bid accepted and player says f u I dont want to play for you even though there is not a bid from any other clubs. Worrying isn't it? Players actually saying that they dont like Villa. We can get some "unknowns" but where is the big bang that we all want? Seems like our powder is wet through and we cant even fire blanks. However I am still hoping that a surprise might come our way. Owen is still without a club but so is my old Mom!!

In Lambert we trust.

Lambert insists he has faith in hungry and young players from lower divisions to revive the club's fortunes. Lambert said: "It is my decision. Football decisions are mine and I will take responsibility on everything. I know from experience if you don't have the hunger as a footballer, then there is no point in playing the game. With people from the lower leagues, you are giving people opportunities. I have total confidence in them to go and do the business. You trust them to go and do it and they are hungry to do it.

Villa never had any intention of signing Denpsey, just a smoke screen to make it look like we were thinking big! He is destined for Liverpool.. We are looking to survive this season with lower level or inexperienced players who haven't played in the prem. unfortunately I fever for our prem future. Lerner to go please.

As usual. Everyone else is bringing in quality and what are we doing. Nothing. A championship left back and an unproven striker. I hope we make a couple of decent last minute signings but I got a feeling that we will have to make do with the poor squad we have. Everyone strengthening but us again. Are we sure our chairman is a billionaire?

Sort of strange, puddles have not gone in for Dempsey so what is going on. Could be that Villa have put in a bid and are actually waiting to see what other bids go in for him. This means that Fulham will still have a bid on the books. Bit of subterfuge going on, possibly by both teams.

Dempsey IS joining Villa IF Liverpool don't agree a fee with Fulham! (depending on contract talks though).
My sources indicate Villa have concluded a deal for Benteke in total worth �10.6m after a change of heart by Genk.
