Very unlikely that we will sign a new striker as am keeps going on about how impressed he is with the fonz, so expect big things from the big lad. He is more than good enough to make the grade.

A fee has been agreed for Charles N'Zogbia so as long as personal terms are agreed it's a done deal.
Have been hearing rumours lately that Villa are interested in bringing Hitzleberger back to Villa Park, along with Matthew Upson should Carlos Cuellar leave, to move to Rangers.
Aidan McGeady is also rumoured to join Villa, but should N'Zogbia's deal go through I doubt he will

if the n zogbia deal goes through it is a exellent bit of buisness at 25 he is 2 years younger than downing, quicker and scores more but at half the price learner, roeder and mcliesh have played a blinder
other news hizlesperger is on the verge of joining but the deal to bring upson in is stalling on the cuellar going to rangers or zaragoza and heskey is about to fly back to join either leeds forest or leicster opening the door for defoe or sturridge

Villa to close in on Thomas Hitzlsperger and Matthew Upson once he has tied up the signing of Charles N'Zogbia. This maybe be the last of Villa's transfer activity this summer however a late bid for season long loan for Daniel Sturridge maybe on the cards.

McLeish has admitted bringing in free transfers and loans could be an option after Charles N'Zogbia signs. Hitzlsperger will be a definate but don't think anymore would be necessary.

ssn has confirmed nzogbia is going to sign after a medical, and will meet up with the squad after the asian cup in thailand. Villa agreed a fee even though it took a week, this was because dave whelan was expecting us to be flash with the cash but our hard line approach has struck up a better deal than whelan had hoped to negotiate.

Villa have agreed a deal in principle for N'Zogbia, waiting to hear official confirmation from Wigan today. N'Zogbia, not in the UK, could discuss terms over the phone, and may fly back to England for a medical as soon as tomorrow. Even if the move is completed in the next couple of days, it is unlikely he will join the squad in Hong Kong, as he has no visa to play in the tournament.
