I don't really see how Carrol and Bent will work...both have pretty poor touches. Personally I prefer to have a big striker paired with a little one whose tricky. Bent and Carrol up front doesn't seem to scary for other teams. With signings, I fancy we could line up like that:

_____________Given
Naughton__Collins__Clark__Bennett
Gabby___Ahmadi__Bannan__N'Zogbia
_________Carroll__Bent

Lambert will look at young talent, Agbonlahor will get a chance as will Barry Bannan and Ciaran Clark, Naughton and Joe Bennet are likely to be the new full backs with Warnock and Hutton being given the boot. Collins and Clark I can see being first pair, but perhaps a Ramis will come in (don't see Vlaar being likely anymore). Ahmadi will give us some good steel in the middle with Bannan picking the passes and Gabby/N'Zogbia giving us great pace up the wings. Naughton and Bennet will provide good width going forwards.

Villain.

Collins before dunne, bannan before Ireland and gabby before hollman don't think so and I can't see us signing Naughton either

Agree19 Disagree4

Cant see Lambert leaving ireland out of the starting 11. An im not convinced bennet is good enough to start in prem at the moment! >scg87

Agree28 Disagree1

For me

Given

Lowton Collins Vlaar (new lb)

Al-Ahmadi (Coubily)

Ireland or (Behrami)
Gabby or Holman Nzog

Bent

that would do for top 10 for me...

Agree1 Disagree9

Gabby is not a winger! that is the reason he failed to succeed under Mr Houllier.

Agree13 Disagree2

Gabby needs to improve a lot on last seasons form to be worth a place.
CR

Agree9 Disagree0

Given
Lowton Clark Vlaar Cresswell
Holman Ireland Karim Charlie
Bent Gabby

cant see us signing carrol, personally think we should though, sinclair on the radar as well,

Agree4 Disagree1

I can't imagine us signing naughton due to having lowton and lichaj i think we will end up more like this...

__________Given
Lichaj___Vlaar___Clark___Cresswell
N'zogbia_Ahmadi_Gardner_Holman
________New ST__Bent

Agree0 Disagree4

Carroll won't sign. Lambert's been spending little amounts of money on foreign and lower league players, so I can't see him spending £15/20m for a second goal poacher

Agree3 Disagree1

Carrol would be a great striker an english strike force teams would be s**t scared of them plus he would be cheaper because liverpool still owe 2-10 million on stewart downings deal

Agree4 Disagree1

Gardner starting ahead of ireland and bannan? Haha No chance! Lmao

Agree16 Disagree2

Gardner is thefuture of villa he gotta play at some point, n if lambert gets best out of him then he'll make ireland look like doggy doo

Agree0 Disagree10

Ireland is technically on a different level to gardner, gardner an ireland are very different types of players, gardner cant pass the ball like ireland an if villa are to play with more imagination an style (short sharp passing) then we will need ireland in the team and at his best.

Gardner might be the future but maybe the future is not now for him, maybe 2years down the line will be his time, thats not to say he won't play apart of our season. >scg87

Rubin Kazan have met Newcastle striker Demba Ba's £7m release clause. All down to personal terms now

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Why is this on the villa page?

Agree8 Disagree0

The person who posted that is probably asking in a round about way, why havnt villa made a move for Dember Ba at £7m he could be a great signing! Or atleast i think he'd be a great signing.>scg87 {Ed001's Note - except that the clause only applies if the buying team are in the Champions League.}

Agree4 Disagree3

You make a good point Ed, i wasnt aware of that... But wouldnt newcastle prefer to get say... £9m for D. Ba from villa intead of £7m from a club in the CL, would they not except that? An do you think he'd be worth that money? >scg87 {Ed001's Note - they don't believe he will be going anywhere, so why would they take 9m from Villa rather than keeping the player? Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of spending that much money on a player with a degenerative knee condition. It could be fine for years, or he could slowly reduce in effectiveness, but there is also a chance he might only have a season or so left before there is a massive reduction in his effectiveness.}

Kafoumba Coulibaly has revealed he wants to leave Nice in order to pursue a career in the Premier League.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to Fulham as well as Aston Villa and Norwich.

And all three clubs are likely to be on alert after the 26-year-old defensive midfielder admitted he is hoping Nice will allow him to end his time in Ligue 1.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

I believe he's a right back

Agree0 Disagree1

Wrong hes a central midfield/centre back

any possiblity of signing Berbotov from Man U rumours are he would only cost £5mil.

Believable3 Unbelievable11

He's on about 90k a week so he is very unlikely to take a massive pay cut to join us is he, especially when he's agent has said he wants Champions League football

Agree7 Disagree1

Aston villa vice captian gabby will not be going to sunderland and want a fresh start with villa new manger paul Lambert

Agree6 Disagree0

He's on about 90k a week so he is very unlikely to take a massive pay cut to join us is he, especially when he's agent has said he wants Champions League football
---------------------------------------
Why would Berbatrov want champs league football he never even gets to play in the league

Agree4 Disagree3

He could sign for a russian or german team offering him bigger wages an getting Champions League football you donut

Villa set to open talks with Liverpool when we return from America on a move for Carroll and Villa confidence in this move because chairman Lerner has promised £15 million to try and conclude a deal, while Liverpool still owe money on their transfer of Stewart Downing last summer, but that could be written off if Carroll is allowed to head to Villa Park.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Personally i think £20m for A. Carroll is to much to pay, are you all happy for Lambert to spend £20m on carroll?

Agree16 Disagree4

Carroll seems to fit PL style of play but if Newcastle got Cisse and Ba for around 20 mil then I think 20mil just for Carroll is not worth it. I would rather have an ok ish season (anything would be better than last) and let PL build and bring players through the ranks and get up coming youngsters. Wasting 20mil on one player is a lot and wont bring champions league football the following season.

Agree4 Disagree8

Whether Carroll is worth £20 million or not doesn't matter. It's the price that Liverpool will accept for him.

Agree3 Disagree5

Rather use that 20 mil on a top 10 mil cb nd two young fullbacks

Agree9 Disagree0

Yes 20million is a lot but as the guy at the start said it will be 5 million cheaper also newcastle have but a 7 million bid in foe loic remy
