everyone keeps point the finger at the board but the problem is with mons signings warnock dunne and mecleish,s madness hutton! we cant get rid of them and not until they go we not going to get anyone,if we can get rid of them i can see maybe 3 or even 4 more signings! if it does not materialise and we are in trouble come january then money will be spent to get what we want now! we are not in a position where we can have our cake and eat it but after those have gone and free up funds we shall be a force again!
i for 1 am behind the whole project !!!!!!
Love the positivity!:D
It's ridiculous that our clubs transfer policy has come to a complete standstill because of Warnock, Dunne and Hutton. Warnock and Dunne are in the last year of their contracts, Hutton was 2 million pounds. Just give them away or cancel their contracts and move on.
What is the cost of losing Premier League status - 90 million?
With AVFC failing to make a move for Johnson, maybe it's time we admit to ourselves we simply can't compete with most prem clubs when it comes to finances!
If we can't sign a quality player like Johnson for £10m then where does it leave us? Will we continue to sign championship or league 1 players who may do a job for us but are not good enough to move us forward!?
What players can we afford? Phillips?
T Ince? Olsson? Rhodes? Zaha? Even they will cost £5m-£6m ish an keeping in mind only 1 of them have played prem footy they would be a gamble, does not look good for our season! I'm not looking forward to the everton game, that's for sure!
>scg87 {Ed005's Note - Yous spent money under Martin O'Neill though and brought in some good players who played well for you like Downing, Young, Milner etc.! Have Lerner's finances dried up?}
Hate to be so negative but not signing Johnson or not even showing interest is soul destroying especially when it's Sunderland who have signed him!
I'm worried that if we can't afford 10m to sign a class player like Johnson then what kind of players will we be signing? Hoolahan? Lol
£10m? Will be the second best bargain of the season behind Michu!
I would say 10% of MON did well the rest were awful or not given a real chance ie Reo Coker, Cuellar who for some reason insisted on playing them out of position. Cant wait to see Fletcher play right back for Sunderland
Huddlestone would be class signing and as for striker bent is world class we aint gettin any better its the service albrighton is a shower and so is gardener give samir a run now
Pull you heads in! From the outside it looks as if Villa have been working over the last 12-months to establish a workable wage structure (forget transfer fees for the moment). Johnson is a good player - but he carries the baggage of a MCFC wage packet. which over 4-years will have the potential to kill Sunderland's financial fair play ambitions.
We are always going to struggle to attract someone from obscene (non-viable) salaries to Villa Park.
If that keeps us out of the market for over-paid squad players - then we will have to develop alternative strategies to attract players in our price range.
If you want to pay over the odds - become a Leeds or Pompey fan, or hope that the sugar-daddies do not get bored.
Well we need to attract someone decent because as I write this we are three nil down to the toffees and being given a football lesson and getting battered. The squad and players we have just can't cut it
