8 days and counting... Yes I do understand the mechanics involved, 1 deal starts the domino effect.

Here's the question ?, are we going to cause the domino effect by bagging a big name we desperately need or are we the ones who are going to be picking up the end bits ?.

Real big question is what are Villa's intentions going to be... Either we send out a warning shot and everyone know that we have real ambition to challenge spots 5-8 or are we going to try our luck and see if we get there by signing 2nd rated players. The German scout is key.. Can he bag us a gem ?

Tomorrow will be 7 days to go, and before you know it we are going to be glued to SS on the 31st hoping for a miracle.

Hope I am wrong on the latter but still say sack Faulkner.

Made similar post some weeks ago and was shot down for being negative. Its black & white PL is under the Lerner and Faulkner spell. He will probably be allowed to sign one significant player as a show of ambition by the ugly sisters, but he will not be sanctioned for anything else till January. I wonder if PL knew what he was letting himself into when he left Norwich??

The earlier post regarding 8 days to go was spot on. Not negative but cold fact. Get passed today and we have a match weekend so no chance of new names coming in then.

We then go to Monday and before you know it we are 4 days away.

Clear fact is we need replenishing at the back, prob need a winger and definently a Beardsley esq type of forward to link play between midfield and wingers.

Who we get if we do will certainly set the marker for where we are heading.

Villa can be a real resurgent force, we have a young ambitios manager, great youth team and a fantastic fan base.

Not looking forward to squeaky bum time on the 31st, hope I am wrong and that Faulkner has enough time to read the " how to buy a player" manual in time.

PL needs backing, he has fans on side but just the thought of getting beat by Everton on Saturday may burst our bubble and cause panic purchases which will inevitably conclude where our ambitions lie.

RL aint going to give PL any more money to spend. RL aint bothered what happens to the Villa. Most of the players mentioned over the last few weeks have gone to other clubs. First thing we ned to get is a chairman who as the bottle to dip his hand in his wallett. Another season of dissatisfaction.

I am a Norwich fan and was gutted to see Lambert leave, I thought it's understandable moving to a bigger club with more ambition and funds....after reading posts on this site I think the ambition (from the board) and the funds available are smaller than he would have had at Norwich. The key to Lamberts sucsess has been young talent from the lower leauges, at Norwich he had the oppertunity to build the squad over 3 years in 3 different leauges, with Villa he has got to work with what he has been left from one of the worst managers ever to grace the PL. I know yopu Villa fans have big hopes but i feel you will struggle this season with a finish about 16th.

Would be good to replace Ireland and would be nice to see a very clever player at villa park

How would berbatov for a replacement for ireland?! different types of players!

And different positions on the pitch. Dempsey would be a good replacement for ireland

Ireland dose not have half the skill as berbatov when i said replace i ment both come across as lazy players we could use one i know witch one i would choose

Paul Lambert has asked Paul Faulkner for funds so he can sign Jermain Defoe from tottenham and stephen warnock will be sent out on loan to blackburn and they can sign permanetly at te end of the season and martin olsson will come our way for 4 mil

Why would PL need to ask for transfer funds? I reckon he would have been told the budgit before signing on as boss

Villa to sign another 4 before the end of the window. Martin olsson will come from blackburn with warnock going the other way. Defoe will come in as will kenwyne jones with hutton going to stoke. Dawson may be on lamberts radar with talks between him and QPR breaking down and PL is also monitoring dempseys situation at fulham

Complete rubbish. Absolutely no way we are going to pay aprox 9m for a 28 yr old injury prone CD who is likely to want 50k+ per week. Same goes for Dempsey, what is he 29/30 ?
