Local journos rekon Lambert wants Jeffrey Bruma, Chelsea open to offers too apparently?

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Good move I think. Should be reasonably priced (sum and salary) and has experience playing abroad in Germany.

For me if we are building on a 'budget' the key is to get players who can do the job required of them. I think we all know we need a CB and a LB as the priority this summer. Now why I would love Lescott/Douglas or A and Other 'big' name player we have to be realistic. Players like (CB) Wes Morgan, David Wheater, Adrian Mariappa, Alex Pearce, (LB) Joe Mattock and Chris Gunter are all players who will be in the Championship next season but are good solid players who could all improve our 'regular' back 4 (with Vlaar and Lowton) and I would not be surprised if these are the type of players Lambert looks at.

Agree1 Disagree17

Bennett was considered a solid LB last season but now he's seen as the worst defender ever to play for villa. I think we need a CB an a LB who have proven they can play in the prem, it doesn't have to be the likes of Douglas or Lescott who earns big money, but players like Figueroa on a free and
M Olsson (£3m-£5m) who have experience of prem football, are not on big wages an are obviously good enough an wouldn't cost a silly amount of money Or if we look abroad there's the likes of Pieters at PSV who wouldn't cost any more than £5m, who has experience at the highest levels an can handle the physical pressures of the prem aswell as having the ability to play at this level.

Agree14 Disagree2

Players like Olsson and Figueroa while both will improve our team will probably want wages bigger then what we are prepared to pay.

Just because we are looking to get some players off the wage bill that doesn't mean we will use that 'availability' and give those sums to other players; the wage bill is still not where RL wants it.

We also need to be mindful that other teams will be interested in players like Figueroa and Olsson and they will undoubtedly be prepared to offer larger salaries then Villa. Yes they may not be looking for 60+k per week but there will be teams who are prepared to offer more then say 30/40k which may be our sealing

Agree0 Disagree10

We all expect these players to leave>
Bent 80k a week ish
Given 60k a week ish
Ireland 60k a week ish
Dunne 40k a week ish
Makoun 40k a week ish agreed 2 leave
Hutton 30k a week ish
Warnock 30k a week ish already gone

Total saving of £340k a week.

Are you saying we can't afford to pay 2 maybe 3 players with experience an proven ability 40k a week each?

Villa are already on track to making a profit this time next year, so using some of the savings made from selling them players would be a smart move.

Sign>>
Lescott 40k-50k a week
Olsson on 30k-40k a week
Rauol Low 30k-40k a week

Then we'll almost certainly be competing in the top 8 again, so I'd say that's money well spent an in the end would pay for themselves.

>Scg87

Agree13 Disagree3

No team in the prem would pay figueroa who's 29/30 more than 30k a week.

An I don't think any team in the prem would pay Olsson any more than 40k a week.

An ask yourself who would pay Lescott big money? Everton? I doubt they pay more than 50k a week at the most, considering they are in massive debt

so if we can't pay that type of money for a couple players, then why should I re new my season ticket, when we seem happy to gamble on lower league players.

Agree10 Disagree1

Lescot is on 90k at city mate I think he'd want around the 60k make

Agree2 Disagree1

Warnock was on a lot more than 30k a week as far as i'm aware. More like 45/50k a week.

Agree4 Disagree10

We all kno Lescott is on big money at city, but no other team in the prem would pay anywhere near that so unless he's willing to take a massive pay cut he'll not get another club coming in for him. Unless you think everton can afford to pay that kind of wage? Cus I don't

Agree9 Disagree0

Whoever put.

'so if we can't pay that type of money for a couple players, then why should I re new my season ticket, when we seem happy to gamble on lower league players. '

Have you not watched Villa this season or listened to anything Lambert has said?!?! There is no chance we will be spending big bucks on wages and that has been made clear. Stop being delusional, be realistic and open your eyes to the possibility that there are good footballers in the world other then Lescott!

Westwood, Lowton and Benteke all came from lower level leagues and have fitted in to the Prem very well.

Agree1 Disagree8

'Are you saying we can't afford to pay 2 maybe 3 players with experience an proven ability 40k a week each?'

Its not a case of not being able to afford it; Lambert has made it clear that we will NOT be signing players of that ilk.

To use your estimations of wages people are paid and then assume we can use that to get new players is ridiculous. I have said it on here before, there is not just a big pot of money that is for wages and is to be distributed as PL sees fit. It is principally based on turnover which is (majority part) generated by match days an attendances have been down this season (in comparison to say 3 seasons ago) which has a knock on effect on the food and drink sold and also the footfall through the club shop.

Please open your eyes to wider the picture and notice we are now being run like a Business, with restrictions. You simply can't justify an argument by saying we're getting rid of A, B, C so that's means we have to get D, E, F!

In 2012 we reported record losses of £53.9million for the prior financial year despite a cash injection of £25million from Randy Lerner and you believe we are set to turn a profit next year, get real!

Agree0 Disagree8

In 2012 we were 50m odd in debt? Well in march I read we were 25m in debt, an keeping in mind the premier league money goes up from 33m to 60m nex season, we'll be in the green an with "a b an c" leaving lol we'll be in the profit, NO DOUBT about that!

Providing the deadwood on big money leave, our wage budgit will have been halved in the space of 12 months, so use your common sense or maybe just use math an work it out, they'll be plenty left in the budgit to sign players on 30k-40k a week.

Time will tell.

Agree7 Disagree1

When lambert said we won't be spending big bucks as you put it, he means they'll be no more DB signing for 20m or 60k-80k wages. I don't think he means playerS on 30k-40k as "big bucks".

There is absolutely no reason why we can't have players on 40k a week, there's talk of a debt, but the last finances I saw has us on track to making a profit next season, even if we end up keeping all the big earners we'll still be in the black next season, so if bent Ireland etc leave we'll have more than enough in the budgit to sign players on 30k-40k a week

Agree7 Disagree0

Benteke came from lower leagues? What are you on lol

Agree6 Disagree1

It says lower level leagues, which the belgian league is compared to the Prem!

I am so happy that some of you lot are not running our Club cause you have absolutely no clue.

Agree0 Disagree7

Benteke was a full international lol
regardless of what country or league he was playing in

Agree6 Disagree1

Claming someone was a full international as justification is pretty poor as that argument could be levied at all footballers playing for obscure countries, but its ok we should sign them cause they are full internationals.

Im sure you was one of the muppets demanding Lambert be sacked during the Christmas period and also the same muppets who blame MoN for everything.

YAWN!

Agree0 Disagree5

Yes, but benteke was a full international for Belgium who have a national squad full of up and coming stars, so I believe there is a lot of justification. If we were talking about some unknown international from the republic of congo or somewhere like that then u may have reason, but we are not. You are arguing for the sake of arguing and perhaps should just shut up

Agree5 Disagree1

Actually mate, i'm a big fan of PL, the football we've been playing is great, an I'd say PL has signed some real gems, and even at Xmas I was behind PL, in fact I was one of the few who said even if we get relegated we should keep Lambert.

So in conclusion, I don't know what your point is? Lol

Agree4 Disagree0

So Benteke was a well known International before we signed him? A name on everyones lips? The next big think in European football? No didn't think so.

Game over!

Agree0 Disagree4

Game over? Lol
You might not have known benteke an he wasn't a house hold name here, but in belgium he was a full international, an scoring goals, an was being scouted by multiple EPL teams, but PL was the only one willing to gamble £8m on him, so he was far from an unknown.

Game over? It is now! :)

Agree3 Disagree0

It ain't over till its over.

My initial point was that someone was not happy renewing their season tickets if we are signing lower level players and I was simply stating that many of our better players this season fell into the category. In your opinion you wouldn't class Benteke as an unknown before we signed him whereas I would. At the end of the day I have full faith in PL to continue to make signings from lower level leagues which are cheaper and more cost effective to the Club as a business then the expensive more established names being banded about.

Agree0 Disagree2

Signing players from lower leagues is fair enough when things are going well, but when things are not going well we will all be complaining we need experience or prem standard players.
An keeping in mind we only survived by the skin of our teeth, it's only the smart thing to do to sign established quality, I really don't think signing 2 players on 40k a week will send us in to a spiral of financial meltdown

Agree2 Disagree0

And I agree that signing a few players on a larger salary would not put the club in real financial trouble but it just isn't going to happen. Lerner is still driving the need to reduce the wage bill and for anyone who saw Lambert on the Footballer's Football show last night he made it pretty clear that he will be looking to bring in more young talents and not experienced players, he categorically said he will not be changing his ethos. Big comparisions were made with Dortmund and what they have done over the last 4/5 years with blooding the youth and signing relative 'unknowns' from lower level clubs (Lewandowski came from the Polish leagues and I believe Subotic was playing for Mainz a yo yo team in Germany).

Every fan would love the named stars but it just ain't going to happen and that ethos Lambert is running with is because of the stance of the board. Yes we only just stayed up this season but if we had six more games left the way we were playing I think we could have easily finihed mid table.

Experience helps but not just for the sake of it

Timothy Chandler, Luke Murphy, Jelle Vossen Are all targets going by various sources.

Bent out, Benteke to stay, main worry being whether we can get Weimann staying or not.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

He's done an announcement on tv before todays game saying he's been at villa 6 years and he's loved every minute and the that he loves the club.

I don't think he'd be saying that if he didn't intend on staying I think he and Benteke just want more money that's all they both seem very happy Villa judging on statements from the pair

Agree7 Disagree0

We need to get viemen to sign a contract what ever it costs I will persanolly clean his toilet for a week to get him to sign a new deal

Agree8 Disagree2

Weimann is staying - said it himself

Agree7 Disagree6

Wake up will you Players say what the fans want to hear, Don't mean he means it and cirtainly don't mean if he is offered a bigger and better contract away he would chose to stay at Villa

Agree6 Disagree5

My uncle has a directors seat at villa and has spoken to flaukner and other main bodys at villa and even when the speculation about weimann started they said him staying on wasnt a concern and a deal would bemade at end of season, benteke will also stay assuming we don't get offered stupid money (30mil +) which I realistically doubt

Agree3 Disagree5

£30m isn't stupid money, it's the minimum we should get for benteke if he leaves

Agree11 Disagree3

Im not saying he isn't worth 30mil + to us just simply the fee would have to be in the excess of this, which I doubt many clubs would fancy at the moment, he's had 1 good season but so many times a player has done this and lost out on money, benteke needs another solid season then he will leave for a large sum. I personally think he will stay, 1year of first team football and being a hero will not only boost his Belgium chances but increase his worth, which in the long run is what he and the club will want.

Villa are looking at Iago Aspas & Luke Murphy to come in this summer.
Both players could command prices around £4-5m each.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Luke Murphy 4-5m Powell signed for Man u for 2m and Westwood for 1m so don't you think 1-3m {Ed001's Note - United paid £6.6m for Powell!}

Agree2 Disagree4

Murphy will cost about £5m probably but probably with plenty of add-ons but i'm sure Lambert will bid on him after the amount of times he's gone to watch him.

Agree2 Disagree4

DI'D be surprised if we pay more than £3m-£4m for Murphy, he's unproven remember. Aspas is real quality, surprised the bigger clubs don't seem to be interested in him.

Agree9 Disagree1

Bigger clubs let the intermediatry clubs like us take the risk on these players and then they cherry pick with us picking up a profit

Agree2 Disagree2

Bournemouth/Villa fan here would definatly love to see Murphy play for the Villa next year would turn into an amazing player saw him a couple of times this season, he is awesome on the ball!

Agree0 Disagree0

Big clubs won't want aspas have you seen his headbutt haha. Reminds me of Suarez with his play
