Just a quick update, Huddlestone has opted for surgery to fix an ankle problem that he had for much of the season.
It has been stated that he should be ready for the seasons opener.
They are saying that a move to villa now looks unlikely ???

Good - I don't think he's any better than Westwood so would be a pointless signing. He's also incredibly slow and rarely scores and we really need to add goals from midfield. I think I read somewhere the fee would be like 5 million too which is way, way too much.

A fit Gary Gardner would be better than both

everytime a midfielder is mentioned all anyone every says is "gardner will be better" or "how great he's going to be" but other than abit of championship footy or youth level has he ever been seen play at the level we need him at? would he really walk stright into a prem team?

huddlestone happy to stay at hull according to the reports tfft!!!

I have to say I share Strokes bemusement at the certainty people have over Gardner's ability. We haven't seen anywhere near enough of the lad in the prem to make such assertions, can we ?

Jack Wilshere. Jordan Henderson, both currant England players would disagree with you, both have said how good he is ,don't forget everyone gave Delph stick when coming back from injury, give Gardner a chance or would you rather spend £££ amount on Huddleson

What you seem to be saying is, and I apologise in advance for paraphrasing your comments, is " I don't know for certain myself that he is good enough for the team. But 2 of his mates say he is so that's good enough for me "
As for the comment about Huddlestone, I don't believe I mentioned him
As it happens, I would prefers we spent £££ amount on someone other than Huddlestone.
My point is not that I DON'T Gardner is good enough. It's that I don't know that he is good enough .And, that I don't know how anyone else can be so certain
that he is, yet.

Thought I'd chip in with my two pence worth. like it's been said we haven't seen enough of Gardner to say whether he would be a success or not. I would rather see us bring in a proven midfielder that will help us not be in situations like we have been and then introduce Gardner over the course of the season, similar to Grealish. And let's be honest, other players are hardly going to come and and say " oh yeah don't play him because he's shite" now are they?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 13:14:29
You don't and I don't no, but give him a chance ,his reviews at forest were great, ok in the championship ,Delph lifted his game after injury I hope Gardner can, given the chance

Hi Villajk. You are right, we should give him a chance. Perhaps, play him in all the cup games ? As a start
What we can't do is take a risk with him in the league. He should only play there when it's clear he is good enough to displace those already there
I would love to see him break into a really strong Villa midfield. Not to be in the team because we've lowered the bar in terms of quality, such that an unproven, inexperienced kid, with a history of injuries is somehow seen as our saviour.
Let's buy some decent quality players in the middle of the side and see if he is good enough to make it into the first 11 on merit. I hope he is

Very articulate Mendax and your post re-iterates the fact that despite the need to bring our youth players through we still need a quality back bone to the team. cup games and other opportunities are the way forward for players like Gardner. As much as I would like to see him progress, I'm just not so sure about his potential. Does anyone else feel that our youth academy has gone off the boil a little bit?

Burnley have agreed a fee of around £1 million for Matt Lowton from Aston Villa and he will have his medical on Monday.

Man Utd interested in Big Ben.

I would love rvp in the deal. Has been said on here that Nani or hanendez. But with rvp wanting out, I think he's perfect.
Also, I know I've said before, but would love kozak to come back this year, feel he would want to give the club something back after last year, and would have a massive point to prove.

Thing is Flackie everyone is "interested" in Tekkers so let's wait and see mate!

I know mate!
Just if its Utd!! That would work for ne

19 Jun 2015 16:48:15
I still think the big thing for Tekkers will be guaranteed first team action which might put him off a lot of potential suitors. All those interested also seem to be gunning for everyone else as well. e.g United for Kane.

That's a great point.
If he is staying I just would rather it was put to bed!
Almost a statement of intent

19 Jun 2015 17:14:52
Yeah I agree. still I think no key players will be on their way until the potential takeover saga is concluded either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 17:25:48
Problem is. Might still take a while. And may miss out on targets, or, worse still, lose any quality we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 17:33:20
Possibly. if only we had someone in the know who knew what was going on. where's KingVilla when you need him??

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 18:08:07
Problem with RVP is his extortionate wages and he's getting over the hill so will have no resale value - poor business in my eyes. I agree that we will have no major signings until the takeover is concluded and it is a shame that we are missing out on players (Trippier signed for spuds today). At least Sherwood seems to have been given licence to use any funds he can generate by clearing out the squad - m presuming the Micah Richards deal was allowed because Darren Bent was off the wage bill.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 18:28:01
Yeah I agree with that last point Andy regarding wages. so bent, Weimann and Lowton are all gone. who do you think is next??

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 19:36:25
probably Vlaar to go next - hopefully this rumour of Delph to Man Citeh goes away sharpish.

19 Jun 2015 19:59:58
No argue that rvp is not getting any younger.
But assuming Big Ben goes. Selling on value is pointless, he is at the age where he would sign for rest of career. His goals would be worth every penny.
He is quality, is a signal of intent, and has a point to prove.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 20:23:37
Surely Tonev, Sylla, Helenius, Aly Cis, Given, Are priorities to get off the wage bill followed by Senderos and N'Zog

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2015 20:56:35
Isn't he on something like 250 grand a week, even if he takes a big paycut that's beyond our means - I don't care how loaded the owners are you've got to build gradually up to that level of wages. And I completely disagree about the sell on value being pointless - Say we get 15 million for Benteke with RVP thrown in, and RVP goes at the end of his contract with us for free.

Now consider getting 30 million for Benteke, spending the 15 million RVP would be on Charlie Austin, and we sell him with a year or two left on his contract for X amount. That's X amount more than the RVP deal so is always more financially sound.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jun 2015 21:38:49
I see your point!
But i'm assuming the new owners are the wealthy that money is no object, and sell on is not in thoughts!!

I know!! I'm deluded! But let me dream!! Kingvilla has corrupted me!!

I'd even go as far as saying Van Persie's legs seem to have gone. Never shit off a shovel fast but his last that zip he had and with it his fear factor around the box for opposing defenders. i wouldn't want him.
