Villa confirm that no major signings are planned this summer - see quotes from club in the press. Understand there is no intention to spend heavily and that the club will continue to develop young players, as well as speculate with prospects from the lower leagues.

Benteke is judged to be almost certain to, albeit his new deal WILL have release clauses involved.

Villa had hoped to secure Will Hughes from Derby but have been priced out of the market. Callum McNanaman is another target but the club unwilling to pay more then £3 million for the Wigan star

Hope lambert brings in seighurst grealish caruthers drenan burke in to the squad with a experinced defendef and leftback. And bring in more youngsters with quality in to the youth set up whilst geting rid of the high earners given, ireland, makoun, hutton, dunne,
and also get rid of holman, bannan, delfonso, dawkins!

Whatever he does it is a big ask but in lambert I trust?

Agree3 Disagree6

Lambert means no more Darren Bent's of the world - £24m & 60-70k p/w.
Benteke will NOT have a release clause in his contract - his agent has clarified that is the case of a new contract for Benteke.

Agree8 Disagree1

Benteke won't have a release clause the club and Lambert have stated that if Benteke insisted on it they would keep his current deal.

And Keep Holman he gives 110% every time he's on the pitch

Agree2 Disagree5

Benteke will have a release clause. His agent is already agitating for significant changes to his contract. With threats that his player will leave this summer.

See media reporting today

Agree3 Disagree4

I'd like to see Luke Murphy, Arron Cresswell, Laboysie and Vydria come in from lower leagues and Martins indi or Dragovic from abroad

If these came in I'd consider it a successful transfer window although as yet the mahority of Lambert's sigings have been good

Agree4 Disagree2

If he's under contract Villa can force him to honour it.
Villa are in the driving seat here as Benteke has 3 yrs left on his contract. All Benteke could do is go on strike get fined and then return to the team.
Lambert has stated on several occassions there'll be no ba like clauses and if it is inserted I'd expect it to be around 25m

Agree2 Disagree5

Realistically, this never happens.

Players and agents hold all the aces and decide transfers.

If Benteke wants out, he will be gone by Aug

Agree6 Disagree3

Can people just remember it's Benteke's agent saying these things not the man himself.

Agree5 Disagree3

Benteke has said himself as has his agent, its 99. 8% sure that he'll be a Villa player next season!

Agree5 Disagree4

Very True just look at his twitter page
As he keeps saying how happy he is at Villa and loving his football.

Agree2 Disagree2

I we get just will Hughes I would be chuffed. Anyone else would be a bonus. If we sell bent maybe we should get that deal done before big clubs do

Agree2 Disagree0

All players say that. whilst their agent engineers a move. let's not be naive here

Agree3 Disagree0

Of course benteke is going to say that, what else would he say?
He's not gunna come out on twitter an say he wants more money or to play for a bigger club.
An if benteke doesn't agree with what his agent is saying then maybe he needs to man up an sack him or at least tell him to shut up about more money, transfers an clauses.

Agree4 Disagree0

Not many players say they wanna stay then leave, if they wanna go they just keep their mouth shut! Nobody would turn round and say yeah i'm happy I want to stay bye then i'm off. Saying they wanna stay will put teams off buying them and they might not end up going anywhere anyway! {Ed001's Note - Torres did at Liverpool, I am sure I could find lots more examples of the same too.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed I didn't say none, because the players that are known for being persons will do it. But i'm fairly certain if benteke came out in public and said he's happy to stay, there'd be less teams trying to persuade him to leave. If he wanted an escape route he'd make one not do the opposite. If you go to a resturant wanting steak you don't say you don't want it? Lol {Ed001's Note - what has that got to do with anything? We are not talking about a restaurant, we are talking about an employee making public statements. Ludicrous and nonsensical comparison, it makes absolutely no sense at all. If a player comes out and says 'I want a move', they immediately lose their 'loyalty bonus' that they are entitled to when they move clubs, if the club chooses to sell them. That can be a huge amount, after all Joe Cole, for instance, with just one season left on his contract, was arguing over the pay off from Liverpool, which was worth about £4m to him! That is why players will make public statement they want to stay, rather than being honest and admitting they would actually like the move. Having said that, I really don't expect Benteke to move this summer, unless someone offers Villa ridiculous amounts of money.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Metorphorically speaking, my apologies for going off topic. I agree that no player should try and force a move or say they want out, but i'd like to think that most players have to generosity not to say they wanna stay and leave a week later. Its been said that benteke is a nice lad off the pitch, and i'm sure he's humble enough to honour his word. He's getting regular prem footie, no doubt he can see where we're heading and he's a hero here, so I doubt he'd risk a move this season anyway. I'm not arguing with you ed, just wish some people on this page will be a bit more positive and not pressume he's going to jump ship. {Ed001's Note - I get what you are signing, I hope you are right, I actually, as I said, don't think he will leave this summer. I just don't think people should take anything a player says as truth, sometimes they don't even know they are being sold themselves, until told to go and sign papers. A friend of mine was playing for Liverpool and I can remember him telling me I was on something when I said he was being sold and asking why he hadn't told me. He got home that day to a message (this was in the days before everyone had mobiles) telling him to drive down to London to sign his contract! He was gutted as he never wanted to leave, but he was told in no uncertain terms that his time at Liverpool was over.}

Benteke will almost stay but there are some nonsense sums being mentioned on here. If he was sold, it would be for about £15-20 million and no more. And you can guarantee that figure would be broken down into installments - which is how most transfers are conducted.

Again - Darren Bent is worth no more than £5 million. Everyone knows Villa don't want him and that Villa need him off the wage bill. He might even go for half of that figure

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Wake up and look around you, we sold downing, milner, young and barry atleast 20 mil each, and benteke is better than all of them, he has scored just 4 less goals than ale in the league and is a year younger and apparently they will get 40-50 mil for him, not benteke will demand 30 mil

Agree9 Disagree1

Wake up and smell the coffee. No one will pay more than £20 million.

Realistically, paid over 12 months

Agree2 Disagree9

No one will pay over 20m for a 23yr old not at his peak yet who is a 20 goal a season striker.

Hmm ok

Remember this is the premier league with inflated transfer fees if Carroll is/was worth 35m for scoring 10 goals at that point and Bent 24m for scoring 11 goals at that point then what's a striker worth when including cups and his 5 goals for Genk before moving to us on deadline day who's scored 28 goals worth?

I think more than 20-25m more like 30m and that team could easily sell on for 40-50m if his form continues

Agree7 Disagree2

Liverpool paid way over the odds for Carroll - everyone knows that.
We paid way over the odds for Bent.

£20 million for Benteke is about right. Luckily we won't sell
