I was over the moon yesterday and glad that I could get my season ticket again. But after listening to talk sh1t and hearing that Mick McCarthy is favourite to take over, looks like the season tickets on hold again. What is our board doing even thinking about McCarthy Lerner sell up and f**k off if this is true

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Him being the bookies favourite is nothing to do with the board though... its people putting money on it. It couldn't be more obvious we aren't going to get McCarthy

Agree9 Disagree1

Don't believe everything you see and hear. Faulkner's statement today was pretty clear and he'd look rather foolish appointing McCarthy after his statement was splashed across every news site in the UK. Anyhow, the board must realise they can't afford to appoint the likes of Mick McCarthy.

Agree8 Disagree0

Faulkner stated he wants a young manager to get European football.
McCarthy? your have a laugh matey!

Agree8 Disagree0

Me being a wolves fan ,i can tell you now that MM would a bigger mistake than AM.
You protest to hell if he turns up believe me

Agree5 Disagree1

It so won't be Mick McCarthy. Trust me, he's not even on the radar. Some bookie somewhere is looking to make a quick buck and lazy journalists lapped up the change in odds. Read nothing into it.

Agree4 Disagree0

He as been talking to randy about job ,,,believe me he could the next manager

Agree1 Disagree3

To the previous poster, he COULD be but it's most unlikely. I think you'll find McCarthy's agent made a phonecall to Faulkner. McCarthy has certainly not spoken to Randy Lerner.

Agree2 Disagree0

To me it's fairly simple. 'Mad Mick' is looking for work so his agent rings PF who may have even had the manners to speak to McCarthy personally but hopefully said thanks for your interest but we're heading in a different direction. Agent makes it sound like Villa were chasing McCarthy and, lo and behold, his name's in the papers again just as other jobs are becoming available. Yes, Villa have a habit of throwing managers at us from left field but I'd be genuinely amazed by the stupidity of giving McCarthy the job after the disaster that was McLeish. Not saying the fans' fave will come out on top but the powers that be still have to tread very carefully around the Villa faithful before their numbers dip any further. It's a make or break decision in lots of ways and we have to trust, even though we've been burnt before, that their sights are set higher than the man given the boot by Wolves.

Whoever villa bring in as manager needs to play attacking football. No chance of bruce or mcarthy I think its pretty fair to say and that's good because they are both terrible managers. Martinez has a strong relationship with dave wheelan and didn't come last summer when let's face it we were in a much better position so I can't see him coming. Lambert seems quite likely and he has a reputation of getting the best out of players. If not him maybe rogers, ranieri or would love to see AVB. Unlikely but has a point to prove in the prem. Would be good to see adam johnson out of favour at city and likely to fall further down the pecking order with new additions in the summer, danny simpson, gattuso on a free, sturridge, kranjar and a striker

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Sturridge is a pipe dream. Not going to happen.

Agree4 Disagree2

No way we could attract Sturridge to Villa

The Villa shortlist does contain Martinez, Rodgers and Lambert but the Villa hierarchy are acutely aware that Martinez and Rodgers are likely to turn down the Villa job.

Steve Bruce, Steve Maclaren and Mick McCarthy are also on the list. Maclaren is highly rated by the Villa Board but they remain conscious of fans' opinions.

Lerner has confirmed that the new manager will have to sell before he can buy. This financial limitation is likely to deter some candidates but Steve Bruce has indicated his willingness to accept the constraints.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Bruce is a half wit, we need someone in touch with the modern game to chart a forward tragectory. McCarthy is also a retrograde choice. There is a reason both are unemployed and we cannot get it wrong for the third time. If Rodgers can't be tempted then look to the continent, not the journeymen.

Agree6 Disagree0

Lerner will not bring in another x bluenose so steve Bruce can f**k off I say go for Ray Wilkins and AVB. Let them enhance what we have and build with experience. I've also heard that mcliesh is going back to blues o I hope it's true.

Agree8 Disagree0

If Bruce is a half wit look at the players he signed at Sunderland most of them of good quality and look what O'neill has done with his squad since he took over compare those signings to Mcleish's signings

Agree0 Disagree0

MON won three games out of 14. What is your point!

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know who is on the shortlist?Lerner and the boardroom probably have a few names in mind. But you certainly don't know who they are, or if they rate them, or if he is going to give them money to spend.

Paul Lambert will be approached over the current Aston Villa manager's job.
Lambert (who is good friends with Stiliyan Petrov) will announce Petrov as part of his backroom staff if appointed.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

What a load of old toss, was at the end of season dinner at Carrow road last night, Norwich will be free of Debt come end of Next season Lambert will have a sizeable amount to get the players he wants, there will be an extra 1000 seats installed in front of Hotel raising capacity to 28000, the club will not risk any sort of mass reconstruction work untill we know we are an established side in the prem, Learner has indicated the new manager who ever it is will have to sell before he buys, Lambert is free to buy the players he wants without selling first dream on Villa He's staying put

Agree2 Disagree6

Lerner in no way has indicated that. Also, we have a hell of a lot more money than Norwich have, stop clutching at straws about Lambert, accept he may go as hes not committing. Not saying hes coming to villa, just that hes going, he has plenty of choice.

Agree4 Disagree2

No Norwich fan believes he is staying for ever, when and where he goes we wish him luck, But to go to Villa will kill off any ambition he has for his long term future in the higher echelon of football will not happen at Villa, 4 managers in 3 years says it all, Mickey Mouse club

Agree1 Disagree6

^
We admire and respect what everyone at Norwich, your manager included, has achieved in the past few years, especially the good account you gave of yourselves this season. There's no need to start with the insults - Villa's no 'Mickey Mouse' club.

Agree8 Disagree1

I hate the way these newly promoted teams think they're amazing because they stayed up. Yes you have a good manager, too good for your club, wait until he and your best players leave, then its down to league one for Norwich. That's the difference between Norwich and Villa, that will never happen to Villa, whereas it has a good chance of happening to you.

Agree1 Disagree1

He has a point villa would be the nail in the coffin of any young manager too much risk for not enough gain, maybe when o'neil took over it was tempting, randy has lost a ton of money of late and doesnt seem to want to put it into the club.

villa are a bigger club than norwich no one doubts that but they are a mid table team on par with about 7 others

Ralf Rangnick is apparently a dark outsider for the villa job, would be a very good appointment, also hearing a director of football may be bought in alongside the manager.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Hope there is something in this rumor, he's the guy who bought Demba Ba to Hoffenheim for peanuts, he saw a player in Sigurosson too.

Agree3 Disagree2

Would be a shrude move by Randy, unfortunately I can see us ending up with Dave Bassett or someone similar.

Agree0 Disagree5

I'm sure every one else will ask-who the hell is Ralf Ragnick??

Agree3 Disagree3

Don't think they will ask that mate, ex Hoffenheim and Schalke manager. Brings in good prospects and develops talent. Like to see us get a director of football who can help get in some good players!

Agree5 Disagree0

Nope, everyone else has got google

Agree5 Disagree4

It was a rhetorical question-get a sense of humour.
