So the latest in the preseason saga is now Benteke to ManU! Suppose fits with VP leaving and LFC stalling and stalling and stalling?? Well will help with the coffers? Got this from a national broad sheet that isn't bias

Apparently he'd had his heart set on Liverpool. Think he'd just move to any top four side just to get out personally. i'd be happy just to cash in on him now.

Hi wants to go to a top 4 side but has his heart set on Liverpool!
Well which one is it Benteke? As it stands no one has even bid for you so you don't have many options!

is that Liverpool have just triggered the 32.5m clause.

Villa appoint new sporting director Hendrik Almstadt make of what you want, not looked into yet :)

Well we could clutch at straws and say it's a new owner putting his staff in place but let's face it its not its randy staying and putting staff in to run it so he don't have to bother.

you have changed your tune king villa thought you were confident of a takeover
none of us have a clue just heard howard hodgson talk about he was an advisor for the group that were in second place everything was agreed but the chinese stock market was the cause of the breakdown he says they are still interested but don't know how long it will take also says the group who were ahead of them were further along and due to finalise but pulled out but he don't know who they i think when complications are sorted out a deal will go through but not as quick as we would all like .so it is not completely dead as tim says just delayed so tbd to learner he is getting a good structure in place for the time being . I'm confident we will bring in some quality in the meantime . just think a year ago we had paul lambert now we have a young energetic manager who is very ambitious and won't take no mess .

I think it is a good appointment actually, TS is still fairly inexperienced as a manager even though I reckon he has a good future ahead of him. At this point TS strength is working more closely with the players and getting the best out of them. A sporting director will take a lot of the other managerial pressure off of him.

According to my research Almstadt has got some good pedigree and is not one of those image based retired 'star player' director appointments.

Villa1986 I have give up hope m8 to be honest. The takeover was close and I thought it would be done by now. Could be problems to iron out and lerner is readying the ship incase it don't happen but I just fear it won't happen now and this will roll on another season. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with sherwood and the players we going for so that's a plus point and lerner if stays and is willing to spend on the playing staff is not a bad owner just needs football people round him which he is now starting to get. I'm hoping this will still play out nice for us but not holding my breath now in terms of the takeover.

Totally get where your coming from just fingers crossed we get some quality in and as long as we are getting results on the pitch that's what matters to me .

Villa appoint hendrik almstdt as sporting director. I'd sat that confirms lerner is staying. Oh well onwards and upwards.

Maybe Usmanov is planting the seeds (this guy plus Tom fox) before swooping in. Mind you he'd have to sell some of his arsenal shares first

15 Jul 2015 17:57:59
If we are to sell big ben I would hope to see it spent wisely Austin and townsend would be nice but I really feel we should try and nail a no.10 to link up between the midfielders and forwards

Jack Grealish will be a good number 10 in my opinion especially after having gained some experience last season

16 Jul 2015 01:35:34
Can't see my previous post but I believe the number 10 will be Denis praet ( hopefully spellcheck got the name right ;) )

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2015 11:21:13
Praet would be a great signing I agree and yes grealish could play I that position it I don't feel his ready to perform like he has for a full season so more option 's needed

Hearing Gil is impressing in Portugal. Does anyone else feel that this would be like a new signing if he played?

15 Jul 2015 21:10:53
Deffo, give him a good pre season & he'll be a big player for us, Kozak the same, in a team that goes for a win rather than not try to lose like under PL

16 Jul 2015 01:21:14
Denis parent will be the number 10 your talking about ;)

So guys, I can't say I would be happy to see Big Ben go but in the same respect I don't think I would be overly disappointed. Money generated from his sale would pay for Townsend and amavi. All we need is a good priced striker. What we need to remember is that Big Ben isn't irreplaceable. There are strikers available (Austin) with a bigger work rate and better consistency than Ben. Let's remain positive.

I don't mind the idea of signing Townsend, as long as it's nowhere near the £15m Spurs want

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jul 2015 01:30:26
Townsend would be good for £10m if we could get him, if Spurs want him off their wage bill we should try a bid, as much as I like Austin I think he has knee problems and would show up in a medical. Would be a gamble to pay the £15m asking price

I really can't understand why we are not pushing for an Nzogbia sale to fund a higher bid for Chery. Yes I know the Dutch league is not the PL, but 15 Goals and 6 assists in 35 games.
Even if he scores 2 goals and registers 2 assists he is already better than Nzogbia.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

15 Jul 2015 14:03:43
I have been waiting for Nzogbia to spark into life ever since he joined us but he has continually flattered to deceive I am hoping with a good run in the team under TS he has one more class season in him !!

Agree0 Disagree4

15 Jul 2015 14:21:07
I reckon he has had enough chances, but if TS wants to try, in my opinion he's got till Jan that's his last chance. We have to recoup some money from him.

Some players are happy to sit around picking up their wages every week, Sherwood has said today that he needs to shift them on in order to free up wages for new signings
Maybe zog is one of them, add Bennett, sissokho, tonev any maybe even Hutton then hopefully make another 2-3 signings - amavi (done?), praet and Townsend would be nice, keep benteke and we're looking good :)

Big big transfer coming!

Word on the street is that a big signing is being unveiled on Friday along with the expected Amavi.

Established international striker, totally from left field this one.

Don't know about numbers but in the region of 20 million and Benteke stays!

Boom!

my first post as I am struggling to believe this one no word on any other sites regarding this but I really hope its true as I can't imagine we will start the season with Big Ben up top but if we do I think we will be in the top 8!

15 Jul 2015 13:25:17
Adebayor is big (tall) an established international striker and once sold for £20m

Wouldn't be suprised if it's him and you say I told you so on technicalities haha.

No deal can be done in secret nowadays because the agents search for a better deal and money constantly so like above, I will believe it when I see it!

Hard to believe, but it seems Villa have the knack of being the best secrets keepers around to all of our frustrating dismay.
