IMO, Walters would score goals in the championship, goals = points = promotion, he wouldn't be my choice for the long term, just an answer to a problem, ie, someone that would actually try, is better than what we've got, most of the players mentioned would do a job, but there's FFP to take into account and you can't blow all your money on 1 striker when it's most of the team that needs strengthening, and taking a punt on someone who 'might' score goals in the hope that 'we can sell at a profit' is something that should be in the past, get the players in to get us up, then buy £15M+ strikers

To allyp1972. Walters would not score more goals than gestede in the championship. Forget about signing some has been. Do you think when dr tony was looking at buying the club he was thinking " right let's go for the calibre of Walters, fletcher and Dorrans? Get real and wake up!

Hit a nerve there.? Some of you guys are so blinkered when it comes to Villa, we're the butt of a joke at the moment, we used to be able to attract players that you all seem to think we should be after, but they haven't been coming to Villa for a long long time. Get the players in to get us back up, GT did it with players like Steve Sims etc who you would never in a million years consider buying at the time, they did the job and got us up, do the same, THEN buy the marquee players when we're a more attractive proposition for them, RDM knows who he wants, we can only speculate on who we should get, Gestede and McCormack would be a great forward line for us, my personal opinion is that we need a leader in that team, and that's where we should spend big on, and more than 1 leader

Who would that leader be? What about Tom huddlestone? Maybe not a leader but he can dictate the game and has a great range of passing. at least he passes the ball forward unlike the crab Westwood.

Could of been Barton on a free? Charlie Adam maybe? Scott Brown of Celtic would be good but I doubt he'd leave. I really don't know? If Petrov could be the player he was that would be sweet, if only for 1 season and get us up. Huddlestone is a decent player, but a bit of a luxury player, would need that leader to do the dirty work. Like the look of that Aussie player, Mooy I think his name is.

For me I'd get Gareth Barry if at all possible, make him captain and the carrot of future coaching involvement if he wants to coach that is, after he retires, still think even at his age he would be a huge plus in the championship.
