Any news on belhanda ed? Love to see him at villa!

He's not coming - another AVFC mythical bid for a player - go and sign Murphy now, before he goes to Norwich or Fulham or somewhere else

Belhanda isn't mistrue though. Villa usually come out & quash such rumours and then it appears on all the major national papers but it hasn't because the Express & Star don't have any proof at all.

E&S article was laughable, the only quotes they had were from Belhanda saying "I am aware of Villa's interest in me", then the express went on to say belhanda wasn't on PLs wish list. Contridiction or what lol
Rubbish paper just giving an opinion, no insider info
Montpellier president was quoted saying villa had made a bid for belhanda, so why would he lie?

Again, people are arguing that we must have put a bid in for Belhanda as the club haven't denied the rumour.
Lambert hasn't made any comments on anything lately (not even commenting on Tonev) with all reports suggesting he is/was on holiday. When he is back in the 'press circle' I would imagine the first question he will be asked would be about Belhanda.
I have said numerous times that I think Belhanda would be a great signing but personally feel Lambert will distance us from the reports as it is a none starter.
To people to say we have made an offer which has 'obviously' been rejected; the fact the Montpellier president said he had accepted offers from 5 clubs (of which we are supposed to be one) doesn't really stack up.
For me I just don't think its happening and was never going to.

The E&S claimed that we wouldn't sign him because Benteke was staying

Bellhanda is coming

I'm sure it'll be the first question Lambert gets asked when he gets back from his holiday & then he'll say what the situation is.

Villa interested in Robson-Kanu, Aston Villa want to bring in Real Madrid's fourth-choice goalkeeper Jesus Fernandez, 24, to replace departing second-choice Shay Given

Great let's sign players from relegated clubs that will really help us lol

He scored 7 goals last season, which is really good considering he's a winger and he was playing for one of the worst teams, in a better team he could do better
Agree6

So I'm guessing u wouldn't want any of qpr's player? Remy, mbia or Julio cesar aren't to your liking. Even reading have some good players, Alex Pearce!
Agree5

I like Robson-Kanu but after signing Tonev not too sure Lambert will sign another winger. I expect us to play the system we played at the end of the season and with that Tonev I would assume would be the winger off the bench to add a different dimension.
I have no problem signing players from relegated clubs. Players like James McCarthy, Maynor Figueroa, James MCarthur, Chris Gunter, Adam Federici, Alex McCarthy, Alex Pearce, Adrian Mariappa, Hal Robson-Kanu, Adam Le Fondre, Stephane Mbia, Nedum Onouhoa (too name a few) would all increase the quality in our overall squad

I like kanu, I think he's a good player but we should only think about signing him if zog an holman leave

James Macarthur would be a tidy signing for the club as he can add a bit of steel to the midfield. I was really impressed with Sylla and think he was a bit of an unsung hero in our survival push, but if he gets injured wev no player with similar attributes.

Todays Express & Star claims aston villa NOT interested in signing belhanda. so all previous posts on this subject were lies. can't say i'm surprised but I am disappointed

I commented on here a few days ago that Matt Kendrick (Birmingham Mail) had reported the same thing and was shot down with comments citing 'Faulkner was in Morocco meeting Belhanda' and 'Villa confirmed they have made a bid'.
Be interesting to see how this materialises but if he doesn't sign and Villa confirm they have made no attempt to sign him then it will make some fans look silly.
I really rate the lad and think he would have been a fantastic signing for us but some fans need to be more realistic. Someone starts a rumour that we are interested in a player and then hoards of people believe it as gospel and dispel any comments made that do not agree with what they believe. that's ridiculous

Express & Star said Weimann wasn't signing a new deal.
They have no evidence always & have no quotes or base.

Express and star say it, wow then it's 100% true and everyone else is a liar.

So because a newspaper comes out and CLAIMS that we aren't interested in Belhanda, that means it's true? Montpellier's president confirmed we had made a bid. Who bids for a player they aren't interesting in?
Agree8

It is a very sketchy article if you read it properly, the author doesn't name any sources of where he gets his information, no quotes from Lambert or the Club.
Agree6

Im not sure about that. most likely means that Villa reps couldn't get the thing done. Or it means he was using Villa as a tool to drive the value/interest up.
Where there is smoke, there is fire.

So becasue two newspapers suggest we're not after him, all other reports are inaccurate? Come on mate get a grip.
Nobody on here knows if we will or will not sign him for sure, but to try and suggest others are lying based on two reports from the Express and Star is comical.
Fingers crossed we do as he looks decent but i'd suggest we all just wait for an official report or at least a sniff of a medical being booked.

I bet the interest in Belhanda was if Benteke went

If everything the papers said were true, the football transfer market would be mental! Don't believe everything you read!
Agree4

Im perfectly willing to believe that Villa have not lodged a concrete interest. Agents, owners and fans can hype a deal that turns out to be empty.
Agree6

For people to sarcastically state that 'it was in the paper so must be true' I have to wonder where you get your sources from then. You are suggesting that something in the press can simply not be true but are prepared to believe idle gossip?! Surely they are both as truthful and untruthful as each other?
Please read below, there are comments from people stating that Villa have confirmed a bid has been made and that Faulkner was in Morocco. I am not stating that these people are lying simply that they chose to shoot down what I had heard (about the deal not happening) with something which may or may not be true based on something they heard. (Ironic or what!)
What I do find interesting in all of this is that Villa have not commented either way. If we wasnt interested then Villa may have released something to say they weren't (although they aren't obliged to)

Clubs often do this to spark fresh interest from bigger european clubs. He was linked with Spurs and Arsenal only 2 months ago. Same situation we had with Countinho in January.

We'v been very open about our transfer targets so far this summer. tonev deal was reported a week before he signed, I expect 1 of the okore or belhanda deals to come off also. if they both do we'll be a very good team next season even if benteke leaves belhanda will be able to get 10 goals from the middle of the park to ease pressure from the forward line.

Owner of Montpellier is a decent source

You cam't just claim everyone with a different opinion to one in a local paper is a liar
Agree4

If an agent or an owner comes out and says we have bid for a player and we actually haven't we always come out and so no this is wrong we have no interest seeing as we haven't come out and said anythink I would say the belhanda transfer is true

Ed, are Aston Villa looking at Abdulrahman? Quality player, would love to see him link up with Benteke. {Ed001's Note - I don't think so.}
