Use our rumours form to send us aston villa transfer rumours.

Huddlestone, Elmohamady and Fabio just a few of the players out of contract at the end of the year- Fabio a good replacement for Amavi if he leaves, Elmohamady can solve our right back issue and Huddlestone can replace Gana.

09 Jun 2016 02:44:32
all of them players are awful mate we are loaded why you aiming low for we should get the fringle prem players.

09 Jun 2016 08:28:15
There's no point in being loaded if we're in the Championship we aren't exactly going to sign Messi. We need to have realistic transfer targets.

09 Jun 2016 18:43:40
out the three names only one i would even look at is fabio. think utd really missed out selling him.

08 Jun 2016 15:02:33
Think we should go for Leon osman off the toffees.

08 Jun 2016 16:08:16
There's actually some really decent players out of contract soon, I read yesterday that Carroll from Spurs an borthwick Jackson from man utd will both be out of contract, Hoyt's be worth looking at.

08 Jun 2016 19:40:38
Osman has been a bit part player for Everton for a number of years and is now 35 years of age. It's fair to say he is on the downslope in terms of his football ability
I know we are going to have to cut our cloth to match our new circumstances.
But, signing 35 year olds looking for some mug club to top up their pension fund is not how I see us, or want us, going.
Let's go for young, hungry players that are not getting a game at Premier league level but would be dead certs to do well in the championship. Bamford and Gayle as a front 2 sounds pretty good to me
Leave Osman alone to enjoy his retirement.

08 Jun 2016 20:25:16
I agree mendax to an extent mendax, osmans a good pro and has a wealth of experience of which is needed within a 'young and hungry' group. Consistency tends to be a problem with a lot of the kids.

{Ed003's Note - Barton helped Burnley go up at a similar age - could be a great signing for 1 season.}

08 Jun 2016 20:46:18
I agree ed!
I think osman could be just the thing we looking for, a cool head in a fairly split changing room.

Give him a 12 month contract, with the option of a further 12 months if proves a success.

Seams fairly risk free to me.

08 Jun 2016 21:10:10
I thought we were getting this kind of signing with Lescott
Plus, with regard to Barton comparison; I take the point but Barton is a lot better player and is a couple of years younger
If I could forget he's such a pillock I would take a 32 year Barton (as Burnley did) but not a 35 year old Osman. Sorry.

{Ed003's Note - Osman would do a good job in the championship imo mendax,not played loads so would have plenty of miles left in them old legs,just my opinion.}

08 Jun 2016 21:17:43
I'd rather Barry if we looking for that old head in there.

{Ed003's Note - good shout.}

08 Jun 2016 21:22:05
Damn you Kingvilla! I have just come on here to p. s and make the same point
Great minds think alike. And sometimes, mine and yours do as well ;)

{Ed003's Note - as an after thought a kevin phillips helped my team to a play off final at around 37 (no googling) and then helped palace go up the year after - one or two older chaps shouldn't be ignored because of age.}

08 Jun 2016 21:49:11
I agree! Barry would be spot on.

He would never come back to the villa though, sadly.

08 Jun 2016 23:15:42
I hear where you are coming from Ed but we shouldn't take Philips as proof that all 37 year olds will be able to perform as well as he did at that age. Players who do that are still pretty much at a premium
To be honest, I was never a massive fan of Osman in his prime.
I probably should have said that a bit earlier in the argument.

{Ed003's Note - I get that,just throwing an example into the debate about players and ages - in an ideal world we would love youngsters of our own team/s to come through but the championship isn't like that it's about getting out of it quick for such clubs as Villa.}

09 Jun 2016 08:18:37
When Barry was available I suggested that he was the player we needed to hold the team together.
The overall response was that we should not even think about him, he jumped ship, he was Judas etc etc.
We didn't make any attempt and he went to Toffees and was probably the best player there for some years.
NOW we want him back.
This is how the thinking changes amongst us the supporters.
Age need not be a hindrance. Quality is permanent, form is tempreamental.
Would Barry come back? Possibly not.
How about Charlie Adam?
Quality, scores, hard and would give the younger members some protection.

09 Jun 2016 10:02:14
I suggested Adam weeks ago and got shot down because he's too fat or something? Goals from midfield and a bit of fight in him, sign him up, I'd even make him captain

A player I would like to sign is Peter crouch. We do need some level headed guys in our team and for me he always trys his best. Youth is all good and well but need some old heads in there who can handle the pressure.

09 Jun 2016 11:10:28
I was having a beer with Steve Bull the other night (everyone in Staffordshire has had a beer with him at some point) and asked him if he’d consider making a comeback for one season, after all he’s only 47.

He’s still thinking about it .

09 Jun 2016 18:30:10
I have also said about Charlie Adams.
And oldvillan, I am not sure that anyone on this thread said they wouldn't want him back!
Was probably someone with two other two or three names, using all his aliases to get his view across!

09 Jun 2016 23:47:50
Barry wouldn't have enough stamina for the Championship even if a wise head, he would go missing in games and anyway he wouldn't come. Never mind all this talk, we should be aiming for the very best and nothing less, we will have the money so no excuses! Only Newcastle could possibbly compete with us for the players needed, and even then we must blow them away with financial muscle and ambition, its the only way back. ask Dr Xia he seems to think so. i hope!

08 jun 2016 00:04:20
i didn't know the famous edd was a blackpool fan so what with the aston villa thing then?

{Ed003's Note - what villa thing lol - just help out on here :) }

08 Jun 2016 14:21:45
How did you not know?
Your mr know it all.

08 jun 2016 14:48:57
i really need to change that name lol but fairplay all clubs helping each other so from what i gather if you have a decent owner these days anythink is possible but a average or poor owner and you could be down gutted we got a super rich owner but can only attract championshp players its just sunk in we are in the championship and after all the history behind our great club we are playing at the same level as birmingham city iam gutted like really gutted!

08 Jun 2016 12:03:03
Gayle . mcormack. Bamford. gestede. = we are up.

08 Jun 2016 13:02:22
bigtull we ain't going to buy bamford gayle and mccormack mate. that would cost us near on 30 million. gayle bamford on loan would be possible. gestede will score 15 to 20 next season with the right service. a gayle with his pace or poacher like mccormack would be the perfect foil in a 50 goal partnership.

08 Jun 2016 13:21:41
Noted. but if this xia guy is what he says he is. spending 30 million on tham forwards is nothing. depends how serious he is. buy promotion who cares. when man city got took over they brought a player for 32.5 million just to show they ment business.

08 Jun 2016 19:02:50
granted but they were in the prem mate. no point bloating our squad with good championship players that are only average at best in prem. we already in that state now. plus he has stated up to 50 million but if we sell a few it will be more. got to remember wages and not go mad and the fact we need players for most positions in the team. I'd love us to pull this winger off from ajax but can't see it at mo as quite a few in prem or Italy will be in for him.

08 Jun 2016 00:12:26
Cab for dwight gayle to villa park anyone?

08 Jun 2016 07:49:07
Straight swap for Ayew? Team him up with Rudy and we got 40+ goals there

UTV.

08 Jun 2016 08:36:36
straight swap for ayew. na. ayew 10 mil gayle about 6.

08 Jun 2016 09:45:05
Straight cash would be better for Ayew but I don't think we'd get £10M for him, Prem clubs are going to screw us down to something like £6M, like the kid but I think he'd spend more time being suspended in the Championship, Gayle would smash it for us, be delighted if a player with that potential would join us

UTV.

08 Jun 2016 12:26:30
villa need to play hard ball with people like ayew that could do a job for us and say it's 10 mil or nothing. he could score the goals and is under contract so no need to be giving him away. flabby or the other hand I'd pay for a limo to take him and fill it with kebabs.
