I don't blame him, he's had a chance to further his career, and let's not pretend its all about money, its about the calibre of the respective clubs. As a Villa fan I would obviously prefer him to stay but one leg break or Achilles injury and he is out of the world cup and potential big move for him and the club, say he gets injured he may never return to his old form and his value will greatly decrease, the same can be said if he suffers from second season syndrome. I say cash in on him now and get a few players who will make us stronger as a team instead of over reliance on an individual. With the way Lambert runs his business its hard to imagine that he hasn't planned for this and drawn up contingency plans, it makes me wonder why Bony to Swansea has been so protracted, maybe he's showing interest. Personally, I wish him all the best and if he returns as a Premiership player I won't blame him as he stopped us from going to Huish Park (no offence to Yeovil). Preferably I'd prefer him to go abroad so it doesn't bite us on the ass, but hey ho its not like we're not used to this kind of thing and we'll continue to be a good side. Anyway best to get this out the way early as it gives us the chance to strengthen!

As said before, his head has been turned he wants bigger and better things, more than Villa can offer him. People saying he don't want to leave and is happy to stay at Villa, Sorry but I said this before, He was only saying what the fans wanted him to say, Their will now start a Bidding war for him, So don't despair all you Villa fans, this could be your biggest pay day of all time Arsenal Spurs Man City and Chelsea all want him, could be up to around £50mil bidding war

Great post and makes complete sense. I also suspect Lambert & Lerner always had a plan in place incase this happened.

all this c**p about benkeke going is head doin! if villa wanna keep him just put a 100mil price on him. simple! if we get offered 30-40mil then yeah they will prob let him go but what is the point every year sellin your best players to the top say 5 clubs! we will never challenge 4 anythin if that's the way its going 2 b. that's it rant over lol

Nothing you can do when the player wants out. Contracts aren't worth squat these days.

Well looks like your wrong mate! He's off. While I agree that it's totally wrong to sell your stars, that is the way football has become sadly, no loyalty, greed based, ego maniacs, we just can't compete will the oil barons who can haemorrhage cash from every orifice to get what they want. My prediction is the gap will just grow between the rich and poor clubs and a euro super league will be in place in the not too distant future. Good luck Christian, thanks for the goals!

We clearly have the money and desire for the attacking mid we have been missing with bids for Belhanda and Kioyate. Any links with any other targets? Not Chadli, I can't see that happening.

Guzan
Lowton, Vlarr, Okore, Bennett
Sylla
Westwood, Delph
Weiman Tonev
Benteke

Subs
Steer
Agbonlahor
Baker
Bacuna
Helenius
Gardner
Grealish

My guess at the line up for the first day of the season.

Would like to see Grealish slowly intergrated into the first team picture. The kid is a real talent, hope he opts to play for England.

Decent starting XI but would play Bennett and I can't see PL dropping Baker or Gabby

Agree0 Disagree0

Okore and vlaar will be first choice centre backs and I see Luna taking Bennett's spot

Agree0 Disagree0

Minus Benteke on your starting 11
