Please stop lauding Bacuna for playing "alright".
He is rubbish and always has been. He is either lazy, stupid or both.
The same people praising Bacuna and putting him in their Villa XI are the same people constantly slagging off Gabby. I'm not about to defend Mr Villa for his attitude but correct me if I'm wrong he has won his fair share of games for us in his career unlike our current No 7.

I'm sorry but Hutton is not a defenders a hole. Yes he trys hard and is very committed, and he breaks well on the right but almost every attack against us broke through on the right side and Elphick had to cover.
Secondly Gestede does not have enough ball control to hold the ball up.
Westwood can't hit the a@s end of a banjo and has no creativity.
Sissoko just makes too many mistakes.
We need to start with Grealish and Green. And hopefully Amavi and Traore will be fit soon. I hope RDM can get us a descent RB soon and a general in the MD soon.
I was not impressed with the formation and starting line up today. Didn't make sense to me, but still early days.

I agree with the starting line-up. ayew on left of midfield just did not work. to gready and it's not suited to his game. i'd of shown some balls and play amavi and grealish down that side. amavi bombing on past jack would on put the frighteners up them and stopped there fullbacks bombing on and made it a lot more interesting. Imo on of course.

Gutted. Deserved at least a point if not a sneaky win, but if you don't take your chances!
Gollini - Looked comfortable, costly mistake
Hutton - So frustrating and not good enough
Elphick - Looked good and well worth captain
Baker - partnered well and gave his all
Cissoko - should be cover only
Westwood - offered nothing
Gardner - looked lost, not right with Westwood
Bacuna - not to bad, wasn't the worst
Ayew - Looked good going forward, greedy at times
McCormack - very positive and good movement
Gestede - well off the pace, still unsure
Tishbola looked promising as did Grealish. It's only our first game so still positive!, we need to get that winning feeling back, I'm sure RDM will know what's needed.

amavi traore grealish all must start for me. we did not play bad today guys we were slow to start first half grew into game had by far the better of second half. with grealish and amavi on left and traore or green on right with a better attack minded rb we would provide the service gestede needs and he becomes a big player. for me in the middle it has to be Gardner and tishibola to gel unless jedinak comes in then I'd go Gardner and him with the young lad on bench. Ross will get goals looks a leader as does tommy. now for them. we should of had a pen and that curly haired winking grin merchant should of been sent off twice in game. don't jump on our lads backs lads I saw a lot of positive stuff today. fight like lions!

Second half, we looked a lot better, that goal just about summed our luck over the last couple of seasons has gone . That Hutchigson, must be related to the ref, his foul on Hutton was blatant . That should have been his second card, the he fouled Baker in the box and got away with that aswell. For all the calling for Gardener to play, I was a bit disappointed. Bacuna had a decent game, but Green looked better when he came on . Hutton did his usual hard graft, but we need something better. Hutton for all his effort, couldn't cross his legs . Fitness finally caught up with super Mc, he shows with his attitude why he has been Cpt before now . With him and Elphic, at least we have two more leaders on the pitch, than last season . Overall looked better than last season, still need another 3-4 players . Onward and Upward Villa forever.

I thought a draw would have been a fair result today. but to concede like that hurts.
Positives: Elphick - it's great to have a leader.
Ayew - Looked good although always tries to much . I do prefer him out wide though.
McCormack - another natural leader . good set pieces . looks like the natural poacher we need.
Thsts not the WORSE I've seen us play haha!
Negatives: Hutton / Cissohoko. why is Amavi not playing . is he injured? we look so vulnerable in left and right back.
And EVEN f we insist on playing Hutton who is backup RB? Is it Richards?
Westwood - he offers nothing for Me never REALLY takes a risk unless he is passing sideways about 5 yards that is it.
Gardener - offered even less than Westwood
Tishbola and Jedinak (if we get him) would be my preferred choice.
But what do I know haha.

On today's basis I'd gladly take 8 million for ayew. What does Westwood contribute? Basal outer waste of time. Agree on the fullbacks can't defend anything. Should start grealish every game. Gestede doesn't do enough.

Pretty much agree, more positives today but Cissohoko drives me mad sometimes and would prefer Amavi but suspect still not quite fit enough. When you consider it was our first match, away and against one of last year's top teams wasn't too bad. A draw or sneak win on our second half would have been fair. Great away following and will be many twists and turns plus some more new faces I expect! UTV.

I've calmed down a lot now. was fuming for most of my trip back. not at our team but the decisions we did not get. if the guy that should of gone twice for them had gone in first half when tugging ross back I think villa win and we in a great mood. in general happy with our lads today . a few tweaks are needed but saw enough to encourage me.

Let's keep this in perspective guys. First game of the season against a team that just missed out on promotion and have a settled side and system. We had three debuts starting today plus one off the bench. Take the sliced clearance out and I think gollini did well. Elphick looked composed and once Ross Mac gets up to speed he will bang in goals. I still think we need a rb as even at this level Hutton looks poor and add some creativity to midfield. Let's get amavi back in as soon as possible. I think all in all we will be fine for the coming season.

Gotta disagree, even though he's been a knob, Bacuna played better than most, Elphick just what we've needed since Mellberg/ Laursen era, without sounding whiney, that Weds player should of got sent off, 100% penalty on Baker, regroup, give the kids a run out in the cup, get to next game with hopefully a few additions, we were on top in that game when they scored, stop effing around and move heaven and earth to get Benteke on loan, even if it's at the expense of losing Ayew. So Bacuna didn't play ok then? Maybe the medication centres me and allows me to take an unbiased view of who played well and who didn't? Out of the midfield 3, Bacuna was the only 1 having any effect on the game, calling it as I see it. Ayew had flashes of good play but I'll be surprised if he's still a Villa player next week. There's work to be done but there were signs of progress, still think we'll go up as champions

In another note I've seen a few tweets from flabby suggesting all things must come to an end and wishing villa all the best for this season. Not sure of the legitimacy of these tweets but surely if they are legit flabby is off at some point early next week.
