Gentlemen, gentlemen, if you could go back in time 5 years and ask yourself is roy the boy for us, i honestly think the majority would say niet comrade, a sign of the times and don't forget how he did with a not too bad blackburn side, he has done wonders with england, and no discourtesy to him, i feel that lovable old rogue ray lewingtion has been the insulation and translation that roy needed for the players, me thinks great manager, not great coach, but fast forward to now and as i'm sure your aware the current bun today has us leading with the story of yet another manager to add to brian little's list of legends (managers wise-not my words! ) that man being chris houghton, i like chris houghton, decent fella, tactically aware, an eye for a bargain player and championship experience, but a bit like mick mccarthy, once promoted to the prem, too nice and maybe just a tad short of the crafty, shrewd, lower than a snake's belly type of bast**d you need nowadays, although seeing how soft as siht players are now, maybe i' m being a bit too old school., anyways getting back to how great a manager for us john carver would be.

I have no idea what any of that says!!

That makes 2 of us! i just meant roy hodgson as manager, no thankyou, and would he be prepared to drop into domestic championship football after the england gig, i doubt it, also i think ray lewington has helped roy get his message through to the players a bit better and now we're reaping the rewards;chrissy houghton could do a job in the championship but i think fans expectations and pressure from being the biggest club in the midlands (yeah yeah calm down foxes fans, i know your top of the tree and all that, and yes, very well done), i don't think he has enough experience of top flight "dark arts", and finally just a little brevity with john ("i'm the best coach in the premier league") carver, i reckon nothing will happen manager wise till the summertime, i just hope it doesn't drag on too much, like the 'Ed' pointed out, they've sorted out the right balance of football background on the board, and with all the choices available and becoming available, we could dilly dally and miss out on who we want and screw up the whole rebulding process, they should bring in moyesy, brucy, pit bull pearson or whoever but get it done now, double lively, so at least we know the course we're heading on once and for all.

I see your point, and agree! But, re ray lewington, isn't that the point of having assistants, and coaches? To be a buffer between the manager and players?
How much actual coaching did sir Alex do? And you can't tell me his players understood a word he said? Because let's be honest, I didn't in any of his interviews!

Can't disagree with anything you said, but a small pointer to help about understanding Sir Alex, a famous journo had the same problem understanding him and let slip as a joke he cured this by watching 2 seasons of Taggart! when Sir Alex found out about this he actually cracked a smile! so uk gold is the answer, oh no damn, the bugger's retired!

Further the 'taggart'story, the story helped then to cement Sir Alex's nickname 'Taggart', and the journo became a bit of a legend amongst the other older journo's, i would love to know who that fella was but it's become a thing urban legend and myth!

With all the banter about a revamped badge, can anyone tell me when the badge was added to the shirt?
I have been around for many years but I cannot recall there being a badge until the 1957 cup final.
Many changes have taken place and the only dispute was when the two rings round the neck changed to one ring.
Some geezer named Gould has been giving forth about the new badge and how he hates it but as we did not have a badge for many years I cannot see what difference it will make.
Seem to remember that the original badge replicated the shield on the entrance of Villa Park.
