With others iv been an advocate, all season about giving the kids a chance . Brucie gave them one, but you don't put them in a team, of players who haven't played all season . Just not fair on the kids . I can perhaps see his logic, in as much as we only have one thing to focus on . You can't put a made up team like that out, against a settled team who have played regularly together and think you can win . At least it's given some players a much needed game . let's hope it all pays off and we come out all guns blazing, next game . Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

I took my twin grandsons down today as a birthday treat, cost me a small fortune, they have both asked for a visit to the dentist for their next birthday, apparently would be more fun and less painful.

06 Jan 2018 21:07:07
Small fortune? Kids tickets were a fiver?

06 Jan 2018 21:21:07
So for a fiver you get train fares, lunch programmes, villa tracksuits and hot dogs on the way out, silly me didn't see the fiver offer that included all of this.

06 Jan 2018 21:58:28
Spot on hopeful I love it.
Been there myself mate.

06 Jan 2018 21:57:54
It's an expensive game when taking the kids mate tell them to keep the faith and explain in football there many ups and downs.

07 Jan 2018 09:41:24
Take sandwiches, didn’t have to buy them a program or a tracksuit. You wrote it like the club made it expensive, should of cost you max a tenner for ticket an train for each. Give them one of your old scarfs and some sandwiches an there you go, happy days.

07 Jan 2018 10:19:18
You are right Hopeful, I feel for you mate. It's an expensive day when you take the kids, and you just want it to be a special day so disappointing when we play like we did. Who wants to take sandwiches and an old scarf! Some people think they are God on this site and that they know better than everyone else. Well they don't!

07 Jan 2018 13:57:52
Sorry for trying to point out how to get an affordable day at the football Danny, you just keep spending a fortune an then moaning about it after, seems clever to me.

07 Jan 2018 19:43:03
Chris, I'm not spending any money and I not moaning either, just understanding what Hopeful was saying and agreeing with him. What's wrong with that, it seems as though you always seem to have to have the last word on everything, it's as if your word is bond on here and everybody else's views don't mean anything. It's a 'banter' site mate, people chatting and sharing views, lighten up a bit, stop being so serious, it's starting to become boring and predictable. oh here's another negative comment from ChrisAVFC. again. same old same old.

07 Jan 2018 22:33:32
Lighten up a bit? You need to take a leaf out your own book and stop crying about “people think their god on here” just because I said you can take an old scarf and sandwiches to football😂.

06 Jan 2018 20:20:15
I must say i loved it today, bruce gave the youngsters the chance that their agents have been banging on about, all this dealth of young talent chomping at the bit to prove their credentials (and money their on, and some their inflated ego), and what did we get, A TOUCH OF REALISM, that's why Bruce is using them sparingly, mostly as subs, because nearly all of them haven't learned how to pace their performances, and build on it from there, so, yes, i'm gutted we're out of the FA Cup, let the others crack on, we now go again and focus on the real prize, and i'm guessing bruce now knows that if the likes of davis can't handle a no-pressure game (and the others out there today as well), then when we get to 3 games or so to go, and the muck and bullets are flying, as the saying goes"all the gear and no idea"springs to mind, experience really does matter, let's see what happens in the transfer market, today might have been a blessing in disguise!

06 Jan 2018 20:58:19
That’s exactly the way I see it Dave, not just their agents tho, some on here have been slaying Bruce for not playing them, they get a chance, perform half arsed not up to standard, show no quality and let us down, yet the same people moaning to give them a chance now blame Bruce. I can’t wrap my head round it, it makes no sense. This should show everyone why none of them are getting a sniff.

06 Jan 2018 21:08:51
Sorry *class not dave.

08 Jan 2018 00:34:31
I've been called a lot worse Chris! lol.

06 Jan 2018 18:33:33
Well that was fun.
What worries me the most is the style of football.
Starting from the back. How many times did the Boro keeper kick the ball from hand or just clear the ball 50 or 60 yds to no one?
Twice? In the whole 90 minutes.
Boro played it out from the back time and time again maintaining possession and going forward.
Every time Steer had the ball every Villa player turned his back on him and 40 yards upfield. Ball duly hoofed up field where a grateful boro controlled it and then passed us to death.
Not blaming Steer. It must be what they're coached.
Bruce is to blame.
Do boro have better players than us? Of course not. It's coaching that is the key.
If by some miracle we did get promoted this season Bruce's style would have us in the bottom 3 or 4 again. Look at his record.
Time for a beer. oh no, I'm going dry for January. damn it!

06 Jan 2018 17:06:10
Well what a poor performance allround
We where lucky it was not 6-8 goals went into our net,
Steer made 4 big saves yet we offered next to nothing,
I have said the young kids should be given more game time and I still do
This was a typical villa performance
Against lower opposition
They were all over us for most of game and if I was the manager I would be ashamed of our display,
Can't say much more than roll on notts forest, ,

06 Jan 2018 17:14:42
It felt like a pre season game.

06 Jan 2018 17:24:06
After that the youngsters should be kept as far away from the first team as possible, and take Bjarnsson and Onomah with them. Davis is a one trick pony and isn’t good enough, Bree isn’t a centre back so would be unfair to slate him, De Laet awful, Bjarnason back to being shocking, Onomah can go back to Spurs he’s played well once or twice the rest he’s awful, O’hare is lively but that’s about it, lacks a killer instinct and a bit lightweight but that can be taught with time so I’d keep him around the first team, Hepburn Murphy is quick but was shooting from stupid positions when we was chasing the game. Really poor, one less thing to worry about but could of done with a win to keep confidence high. It does highlight the need for reinforcements especially a striker, Davis doesn’t have a strikers instinct, should of scored a tap in if he followed hourihanes ball across the 6 yard box - which 90% of strikers around the country would of done.

06 Jan 2018 17:57:34
Chris I agree with most points. The youngest need be brought on as subs tho in games give them a chance to bed in.
Onomah have say can't stand him probably the most over rated youngster we have had on loan.
Defo need a forward. 2 injury prone forward and a young lad with 2 much pressure on his shoulders.
And still say like I've said all season Bruce out. People bang on about his championship record but his prem one ain't great is it.
Roll on forest not looking forward to it now.

06 Jan 2018 18:04:00
First half we were poor and Peterborough were by far the better team and if not for steer we could have conceded 4 goals.
So you would expect a better performance in the second half?
We got even worse and they totally outplayed us,
Embarrassing is to kind a word for this performance,
Giving the ball away the norm!
Bruce come out with the statement that he made to many changes!
He says hindsight is a wonderful thing,
How many games now has he said these comments,

06 Jan 2018 18:17:40
Chris
I think Steve Bruce should be kept well away from the team as well,
No sign of any tactical change to combat Peterborough in game what so ever,

06 Jan 2018 18:22:30
Peterborough were deserved winners. Had it not been for Steer making 3 outstanding saves in the 1st half and a couple in the 2nd it could (and should) have been 5 or 6!
The positives: De Laet and O’Hare were decent and Steer was outstanding. But that’s about it.
Too many negatives? Far too many to list, Davis was absolutely shocking. A truly horrendous performance from him. Onomah ineffectual. Taylor simply awful.
Bruce’s substitutions were too late in the game and replaced the wrong players. How the hell did Davis stay on ahead of O’Hare!?!?
Utterly embarrassing day.

06 Jan 2018 18:45:09
Mainbob you moan and moan Bruce should play the kids, then say he should be sacked for not playing them. Then he plays the kids, we lose, and now he should be sacked? He can’t win with you, your clutching at straws, the players let us down today no one else, they gave Peterborough chance after chance, they were slow on the attack, didn’t seem arsed one bit and looked generally uninterested. Stop looking for the weirdest excuses just to blame Bruce, the players were the problem today and that’s that.

06 Jan 2018 18:50:36
Terrible performance but must be put into the context that this was a Villa B Team except for Hourahane. Out of the starting 11 only he would start next league match. Even JT off still so with everything about promotion am not too disappointed by the performance of those 11 chosen. Positives were that Jed Steer performed well, O'Hare showed some signs of a good potential sub for league games. Thought Onomah however has continued his appalling form and the rest were no up to standard needed for first team. As for Bruce he knew what he was doing fielding the B side and using it for warm up matches for JT and the very absent today Green. Treated like researves and showed no respect for Posh nor the FA Cup. This makes him no different to most managers of bigger clubs today sadly for us the fans and for the demise of the most prestigious cup competition in the world UTV!

06 Jan 2018 19:59:14
Agree Chris there is no argument what so ever simple things is our kids are not good enough end of and if anyone says different well you know nowt about football.

06 Jan 2018 20:59:49
Dw daz because these are the youngsters that all season people have been telling us need to be on big contracts because the prem “big boys” are sniffing around. Embarrassing mate.

06 Jan 2018 17:00:46
Well that saves us a few games!
Polite comment, disgraceful.

06 Jan 2018 17:09:22
You all cried out him to play the kids and they were not good enough.

06 Jan 2018 17:24:18
I can take a defeat but when the team from a lower leaque has 21 shots on your goal and totally outplayed by them is totally not on,
Very disappointed fan her but not surprised at all,

06 Jan 2018 16:57:37
Fair play to boro but i'm not botherd bout going out of fa cup its not important, promotion far more important than cup run plus it gives a run out to players that have come bck from injurys ie terry green.

06 Jan 2018 17:25:28
Can't wait to hear Bruce blame the kids,

06 Jan 2018 19:54:47
Well who else can he blame you wanted them played and look what happens just goes to show they are not good enough.

06 Jan 2018 14:41:05
I think villa should try an sign these e players miralells from everton doesn't get a game, charlie musando from chelsea can play wide or as number had rapid pace, also benik afobe, but if we can't get him i'd be happy with ulloa thou .

06 Jan 2018 13:19:47
Pleased to see some of our young players in action at last!
Chris so happy my son will be playing 🤣
As for the prediction not too bothered really .
Getting promoted is the main target,
But just hoping it's a good game with plenty of attacking football,
3-1 villa.

06 Jan 2018 12:39:53
Will do our best to help you out by beating the teams around us. March looks a tough month. Hope we're promoted by then.

06 Jan 2018 12:59:06
I can’t wait for your bubble to burst. next year would be good, when all these players head off and leave you high and dry.
Runaway leaders this year, and it’s deserved.
Runaway losers next year?! Lol 🤞🤞.

06 Jan 2018 14:51:08
Agree when they go up there going to struggle big time mate, where if villa come up aswell i don't think we will struggle because players will want to come to us over wolves because were a bigger club . but this team is good enough for automatic an playoff wins but not prem safety we need 6 players to stay in prem if we go up 6 good players thou.

06 Jan 2018 16:59:06
Just struggled against Port.
Total disgrace!

06 Jan 2018 12:02:40
Just thinking ahead to next season. would you buy Baker back as a replacement for Terry? IMO he's potentially as good as Cahill, a bit more experienced now and his decision making should be better, and he had a pretty good partnership with Chester? Could be boredom why I'm asking because I ain't hearing any rumours lol

UTV.

06 Jan 2018 12:25:40
If we go up we will need a centre back, probably need a good 5 or 6 players to survive first season back. Not just a couple of million each either, looking at the prem now even the teams around the relegation zone would give us problems with the current team. I think this team is good enough to get out of this league but not good enough to stay in the premier league comfortably.

06 Jan 2018 13:17:42
Nailed it 👍🏻Think we'd have to accept mid table till Dr Tony got in some big time investment from his buddies. Although, I'd say some of our players would be more suited to the Prem than the Championship dogfight we're in? I'm thinking Lansbury, Super Jack, Hourihane, they are players of quality, not the kick and rush that your average Championship player is? If I get pulled up on not saying Chester, Kodjia (if he stays) etc, it's because I think they're suited for both divisions
