Lots of requests for PL to go, but again I ask who is there that would take on the role of manager of Aston Villa FC? Many managers from lower divisions would fancy themselves but who has the ability to grab the nettle? Look at the problem that Forest have had and they are ending up with "Psycho. " Is that where you see us? He has not set the world on fire.
McClaren, done well away from the UK or even Howard Wilkinson. He rejected the Forest job as he wanted control of the transfers.
If PL goes these are the sort of managers that will be in the queue (only a little queue) for manager of AVFC.
No proven manager is going to jump ship to come to VP so totally unproven applicants will be on the short list.
Therefore should we stick with PL or go for an unknown and be blown away again with some of the lesser managers. I am aware that Laudrup is currently free but he is still unproven in the prem.
Ours is not the choice, but it is for Scrooge to choose, and as his purse has become rusty the applicants will be limited.

I agree, Old Villain, that a lot of our ills are down to Lerner.
However, we can't overlook the fact that this is the worst home season we have ever had in our history. It's also a worse team to watch than the one Lambert took over from McLeish, 2 years ago
I think we have no choice but to get rid of Lambert. I would like to see Laudrup take his place

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I really don't understand this clamour from EPL fans to get Laudrup in as manager. There were a lot of problems behind the scenes at Swansea and most of them stemmed from Laudrup himself and some of his ideas and methods. He was sacked after taking an unauthorised personal trip to France and giving players two days off after losing to West Ham, an important game in the relegation battle. There was stories of players boozing on trips, he introduced a ruling that a maximum of 3 Spanish players could sit together at any table in the club canteen when they had lunch and on a training camp to Dubai the only rule set out to the players was the time they had to be on the bus to go to a 2 hour training session, the rest of the time they could do what they wanted, you can imagine what a crowd of wealthy footballers would get up to.
Oh and I almost forgot - he refused to take training if it was raining!}

Ed, if you had Laudrups's hair, would you take training in the rain?
Fair points though. I must admit, I didn't know about the baggage you describe. Must admit it makes me think again (assumming it's all true)
Whatever the case. We cannot go another season with Lambert

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I thought Lambert would have turned things round this year, as a Celtic fan I like to see ex-players doing well, but he is really struggling and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a change in the summer. You can take Neil Lennon if you want!}

Enough is enough, Lambert must be sacked now. I am convinced that Laudrup is the right man for the job. I don't care about the rumours, so just appoint Laudrup. He is a far better manager than Lambert.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed could the reason you are not a Laudrup fan be, he played for Rangers Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You might have had a point if he had, but he didn't so you haven't. Why are you on a football forum if you have no interest in football?}

Sorry got mixed up with his brother who did play for rangers still think Michael is a better manager than PL by the way villa have never had a good manager from Scotland fact

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And your point is..........?}

We don't want any Celtic or more Scottish managers they are useless and I have lot of interest in football especially villa, so why get personal about a comment

Agree0 Disagree0

The most successful managers in the epl are from Scotland, the fact is pl needs money to spend on the team, year on year the budgets are being slashed, and the chairman doesn't want to throw money at villa anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's not true only AF had success name another. PL is only one left and he should be sacked for the rubbish at villa, and that leaves none

So I believe that we will stay up and not just because of us picking up a good couple of results but because of the fixtures all the other teams have. Our run in is fairly easy whilst everyone else's is reasonably hard. I think Norwich, Sunderland and Cardiff are all going to struggle pick up anymore points whilst we have the chance to win a couple of games and finish on a high. Hopefully we can. UTV

So mr lambert has succeded in loosing 10 home games in a season our worst ever in the history of our great club, so first thing well done you useless excuse for a manager, secondly its now time for this gutless american and his love child faulkener to issue a statement as to what they intend to do about this awful mess they have created in employing this person.
