People seem to be saying that Larry Ellison was at Villa Park yesterday for the game. Apparently Stan Collymore mentioned it on talk5sh1t, before anyone shoots me down if this isn't the case, I got this from another villa website.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey I just heard the same thing not bout him being at the game but that he will be the new owner 5th richest man in the world please be true don't care what he spends on us once he shows some vision for the club

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know a lot about Larry Ellison but just how much interest does he have in English football, does anyone know?
Also at nearly 70 years of age isn't he a bit long in the tooth to be buying a football club?
Don't want to put a damper on things - I'm just asking.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

All fair questions to ask ClarrieBlue and to be honest I haven't a clue why he'd want to buy a football club at his age and if he even has an interest.
It's all just crazy speculation at the moment but people are getting even more excited now as Stan Collymore and now Mat Kendrick have started following him on twitter. I just had a look and he seems to have quite a few villa fans following him now. I definitely will not be letting myself go down that road.
If he isn't interested and it's all a load of nonsense then the poor bloke is probably thinking, 'what the hell is going on here' haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours seem to be gathering pace on various media stations about Larry Ellison buying out Mr. Lerner so let's hope it may actually be true. Stan Collymore says it is true so of course, it must be true!
Ellison is apparantly the 3rd richest man in America behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffet so he is worth a few bob or whatever the equivalent is in dollars.
Does anyone know if he was actually at the match last Saturday as has been reported? Stan Collymore says he was there so of course, it must be true!
Clarrie Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Isn't Ellison more interested in buying the LA Clippers?}

I've not once said it must be true if collymore says it but I think he'd have a little more of an idea than me or you. He played for us and supports us so obviously knows a few people at the club.
I've just been listening to him on the radio and he actually has just said he believes larry Ellison is interested in buying us and has been at Villa Park for a recent game. Maybe he will, maybe he won't but there seems to be a lot of talk now. I suppose time will tell.

Also ed the LA Clippers may be just a rumour at the moment as is him buying the Villa

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was just something I was reading over the weekend about him and Oprah Winfrey try to buy them.}

I've no idea Ed but I checked up on Forbes rich list and Ellison is the 3rd wealthiest American behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffet and I'm pretty sure that both of those have previously been connected with buying Villa.
I'm beginning to think that some rumour monger-probably a Bluenose- is working his way down the richest Americans in the world list. I'm not sure who is fourth but no doubt we shall soon find out.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not trying to be pedantic, CB but Ellison is actually down to 5th on the 2014 Forbes list.

Ed - Ellison is the 5th richest man in the world but the 3rd richest American.
Clarrie.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Got you, sorry about that.}

What a crap game! At least we're 100% safe, even though after yesterday's result we all knew we was. Hopefully now Mr Lerner can let us know a bit more. Also I'm pretty happy those carrot crunchers are all but relegated. Say hello to Small Heath for us Norwich 👍

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully Lerner goes and someone with money invests in the club. We ain't going to survive on Lerner's low budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree. We've done this for the last 4 seasons and sooner or later our luck will run out and we'll be relegated. Lerner HAS to sell as he just doesn't seem to have the funds or the passion for it any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a new owners so that we can see players produce good performances week in week out. We have saw 10 losses at home this season, this can't happen again. We need money to get good players which means good performance which means top 10 finishes at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone else share my sense of impending doom about this game on Wednesday?
I can see Man. City, going for the title coming at us like rats out of a trap and our lot, now safe and with their thoughts on the beach, being given an almighty battering.
Another Chelsea result looms large but I really hope I'm wrong.

Now that we appear to be safe, I would expect PL to be looking at his player options for next season. OK, there will be a couple of thousand protesters stating that they don't want PL anywhere near VP next season but they have to accept that he just might still be manager.
The essential requirement is for a midfield controller, the brains, the on field driver.
Perhaps one might say a "Steven Gerard" type. Delph is not enough for this role.
Can anyone put a name to someone that would not cost the earth and expect the earth for his efforts. Gareth Barry will be available at the end of the season, probably Frank Lampard will be released.
The team need a leader. Who?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Oldvillian I don't want PL at villa park next season and if you think a S. Gerard or G Barry could make a difference to that side you live in cuckoo land Z Zidane would not change that side PL had his chance and failed FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know whether Lambert should be given a chance or not I am In between. Players we could look at is someone like Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe or Cheikhou Kouyate both strong players and can play defensive midfielder. Both would cost something in the region of £3. 5-£5.5 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now there you go JK. Full of negative thoughts. We will not have a choice about PL remaining or departing. I was pointing out that whosoever is in charge then they must be looking at a leader of the team on the pitch. I did not say the existing players, I was hoping that posters would realise that I was simply stating where the manager needs to start. A player that can control and lead must be the first import.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jedinak from palace?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Oldvillan I really wanted PL to succeed but this is by far the poorest villa side I have seen don't want to be negative.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with jk. I've been watching Villa since 1950 and I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly, but I don't think I've seen a worse team than the current lot even in the Billy McNeill and Graham Turner days and also the bunch that got us relegated to the Third Divison.

Good win yesterday with much desire and effort from Villa without looking like a quality team mind.

I thought the PA message at the end of the game should have said
"Many thanks to Hull fans and players for not turning up today, good luck in the final"

This summer will be interesting, we need changes I just hope they are not bad decisions.

Now that Fulham and Cardiff have gone down is there any players from them tht would be needed at villa? Personally I would like to see us sign Steven Caulker, no one else really stands out for me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And I say again

"WHO IS ME"

Villadave

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I would also like to see Steven Caulker at Villa as he is a class act.
I hope, injuries permitting, that our central defensive partnership next season will be Vlaar and Okore, but there is no doubt that Caulker would be a vast improvement on Baker and Clark.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Medel would do a job all day long!

Ruffall

Agree0 Disagree0

Medel would be a nice player to get can put a tackle in and can win the ball well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see caulker in a villa shirt next season, and think Mutch would be a good signing. Doesn't matter if he once played for blues, the guy could do a job for us. Wouldn't take anyone from the Fulham squad apart from holtby, but obviously he's spurs.

A couple of months ago I defended Weimann for his work-rate, attitude and ability. I was ridiculed yet it seems to be his unbelievable performance yesterday that has kept us up? Feeling smug is an understatement.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Feeling smug is also inappropriate. Weimann had a great game yesterday, no argument about that, but he has had a poor season. Saying he saved us is ridiculous. If he'd had a good season we may not have been in this position in the first place

Agree0 Disagree0

One swallow doesn't make a summer my friend although his work rate can never be questioned

Agree0 Disagree0

I find it very difficult to understand how you are feeling so smug when the bloke has been awful all season.
Yes he has a good work rate and a willing to run but he hasn't done what he has been paid to do enough, which is score and create goals. Thankfully for us he turned up for once yesterday. Hopefully we'll get bought out and be able to have a lot more quality to start games with and use him as a squad player instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Weimans been awful this season, yesterday he was immense. I'd never doubt his work rate its just his ability on the ball which let's him down.
Wer staying up!
Surely helenius can get a run out now?!

Glad that villa secured there prem league status yesterday. I have treasured memories of being at your ground when we won 3 Fa cup semi's in the 80s.

Anyway be prepare for lots of love from our neighbours during the next few days. But if you lose to city they will turn on you and be back to being the most bitter club in the league.
