Reports suggesting we will appoint Wagner within the week, if we manage to pull this off it does show just how big a club we are and how much of a draw we are no matter what state we are in. Only negative is how long it took him to get his ideas across to the Huddersfield squad. Now if reports are to be believed he will have maximum 10 days with the squad, there's no doubting on paper these are better players than his Huddersfield players but don't know if we would get results straight away. This really is a manager we must give time to, he will install a play style into the team and a clear plan, with time and backing he would get us promoted but will that be this season? That's hard to see.

03 Oct 2016 23:17:59
I really hope we get him, can't speak highly enough about him, the one thing that detracts from his appointmemt is the fact that at least 2 clubs in germany want him, a couple of spanish clubs are sniffing around too, so if we do get him, how long can we keep him for?

for me, for longevity, i would go for Lee Johnson, good young manager who could grow with us, ambitious and experience in the championship, plays a good style of football and an eye for a good player. just the type dr. tony should go for, but who knows, probably end up with pearson!

04 Oct 2016 15:10:53
As long as you don't appoint Allardyce lads lol, as a Celtic fan it's sad to see a fellow European Cup winning massive club in such a bad state, you are such great supporters and don't deserve it. like our own fans you get right behind your team, i hope whoever you appoint takes you into the EPL again where you belong.

03 Oct 2016 20:08:16
Can we do a poll on who we want as manager just so its clear!

{Ed003's Note - give us a clue what names you want on the poll }

03 Oct 2016 20:14:54
David Wagner, great potential and learned everything under klopp. For nose idiots who hunk we have no chance of getting him think again, money talks and we will double his wages.

{Ed003's Note - can't beat a good hunk.}

03 Oct 2016 20:36:49
im in the bruce camp i think, i want a manager who knows how to sort out a defense and i think him or sam are the answer to that.

if anything that is the area we really need fixing before we look at anything.

03 Oct 2016 20:37:47
Why thank you ed!

{Ed033's Note - :) - poll is up by the way guys and girls.

Next Villa manager poll}

03 Oct 2016 17:59:37
i keep seeing a lot of posts about how we should give sherwood another go. but for me on paper he had a lot better squad than we have now and couldn't do diddly with that team, so why do people think he could do any better this time round?

as far as i remember the reason everyone wanted rid in the first place was because he was clueless and tactically had no idea what to do.

03 Oct 2016 18:51:02
Elphic chester kodja McCormack Amavi - all better than what he had on paper.

03 Oct 2016 19:34:06
I think with Sherwood that it showed that he cared, like we do, that might blinker us a bit, but imo the guy has a winning mentality, his hands were tied by Lerner, we're not doing that 'moneyball'' nonsense anymore, and the players we've bought in the summer are something he can work with, won't cost anything in compo, if he gets the back room team he wants this time, could be just what we need

UTV.

03 Oct 2016 20:24:45
elphick and the two strikers i agree on.

chester i'm still not sold on but think with a better manager he might come good.

amavi is not looking up to the potentol he had before his injury but then again he might be just the same that once the team play good football he will start to look decent again.

03 Oct 2016 21:33:54
Chester is a weird one, his so laid back he worries people but he is yet to make a mistake so I believe he is a decent player.

04 Oct 2016 15:15:04
I wouldn't be upset if sherwood got the gig again, along as wilkins isn't the designated driver.

03 Oct 2016 17:58:58
Steve bruce gets my vote, underrated manager.

03 Oct 2016 18:49:31
blue nose.

03 Oct 2016 20:02:37
Stop with this Potato Head stuff. Remind me what he has done to deserve the top job at our club? That's right not a thing. Have we really sunk this low? We all feel lower than a rattlesnake's left testicle but please this cannot be. I'm just hoping that I wake up and Bobby Ewing is having a shower and this is all a dream.

04 Oct 2016 15:21:56
I wanna know how he got into your bathroom, always thought his goody 2 shoes routine was a lie!

03 Oct 2016 17:27:55
It's amazing how the 'I told you so' brigade were the same people who said Xia was a fraud and he wasn't going to put his money where his mouth was when he first took over.

If you are negative 100% of the time then you are bound to be right 50% of time.

I am gutted another manager has failed but I would prefer that some of you not bask in the glory of failure.

03 Oct 2016 18:10:39
Even a broken clock is right twice a day mate.

03 Oct 2016 16:47:25
I like sherwood, and he gets the best out of players and youth, but what worries me is he likes to play players out of positions and likes to tinker I bit too much which is what RDM has done for 10 games, we need stability and we need some one who is harsh and can bench players if need be to get a set formation. I think it's Bruce for me to push for promotion.

03 Oct 2016 16:22:12
Giggs, showroom or what about laurson or Yorke?

03 Oct 2016 18:14:19
3 people with no experience?
In other words, 3 people who we have no idea about whether they could do the job or not?
It's sort of demeaning to the club to suggest people like that. Typically, the people you mention start their careers at a Small club and learn their trade.

03 Oct 2016 15:54:52
mark warburton anyone? . wouldn't mind sherwood back!

{Ed007's Note - Please don't take Future England Manager Mark Warburton - he's doing that good a job up here the whole of Scottish football really wants him to to stay. :-D

03 Oct 2016 14:11:07
Right so RDM has gone . I defended him before saying give him time . However the performances have been shocking.

How can anyone try to cram 4 out and out attackers into any team .

For me I would prefer to go for up and coming managers who have something to prove, the likes of Wagner, Smith or Johnson . Even sherwood

I wouldn't want Bruce or Big Sam mainly because they have nothing to prove and simply could be looking for a payday as we sack managers so frequently.

03 Oct 2016 16:08:20
The 4 strikers thing is what's screwed us, I think we were counting on Ayew being gone in the window. I'd pick McCormack +1 more striker, Kodjia would be my choice, Gestede as an impact player on the bench (not that he's done much wrong) Ayew can go sulk somewhere, 4-4-2 all the way,

UTV.

03 Oct 2016 11:50:22
I'd go for sherwood, give him another go under a different regime.

03 Oct 2016 13:36:00
I'd give giggs a go. young ambitious manager. has to cut his teeth somewhere. he will eventually be utd manager. We have mostly very good players. he would get them playing.

03 Oct 2016 13:57:41
I also think sherwood would be a good shout!
I loved what he tried to do. and actually think if he was given last year, we would of given more of a fist of it.

03 Oct 2016 14:14:23
Tactically RDM had not got a clue. But I think he did make some good signings nevertheless.
Unfortunately we are still forced to play Westwood because he failed to spend on the 2 top midfielders we desperately need.
I'd love Sherwood back, armed with £35 m to buy those 2 midfielders . But Bruce or Allardyce would be good As Well.

03 Oct 2016 16:19:27
Giggs or showroom I think but what about Lauren?

03 Oct 2016 16:29:06
Always had a clear plan under sherwood especially when he first took over, it's just his subs that baffled and let him down, 2-0 up against Leicester and he played grealish defensive mid as a two, but yea his subs and the players let him down. But with this new squad, more sting in attack and a defence that although lapse concentration late on they are a lot more solid than last season. But Steve Bruce for experience.

03 Oct 2016 10:27:21
Sam allerdyce anyone lol.

03 Oct 2016 11:28:06
It would be just our luck for him to join, only to shortly thereafter be banned for 2 years by the FA.

03 Oct 2016 11:29:44
Yes, yes, yes.

03 Oct 2016 09:45:05
well the good doctor has swung the axe. it's a shame for rdm but there were no signs it was going to pick up so had to be done. who do we want next then guys and who do we think we will get. I'll kick it off by saying I'd like sherwood back and give him a fair crack with a chance to buy his own players. I think we will end up with Bruce though.

03 Oct 2016 09:36:38
I would like to welcome back gabby agbonlahor and Libor kozak to the side just in time for the derby. gabby agbonlahor is as fast as muck! Roberto di matteo has today left the club with 1 million pound and a Ford Mondeo. we would like to thank him for buying 27 strikers and no wingers to cross them the ball and 32 year old miles off the pace jediack.

03 Oct 2016 14:19:01
You should replace the ' it ' in your name with a four letter word that ends with a K .
Here's a clue. It isn't muck.

03 Oct 2016 16:14:51
They broke the mold when they made you mr. know. it. all. man alive you are indeed a unique character.

03 Oct 2016 18:18:09
Jesus Christ what are you smoking
Strikers are not our problem. And even if they were, I would not want Gabby back.

03 Oct 2016 08:32:21
Big round of applause to the told you so sausage brigade you truly are right in every aspect of what you have been saying over the last few weeks. I now bow down to your superior knowledge of the game. You must have all been wanting my Villa to suffer so you can all say I told you so, So well done you have got your wish here's a thought for you lot instead of saying I told you so why don't you back your bloody team instead of being so petty minded to be proved right I would love to meet a certain few on here to give them a piece of my mind to let you know that you sound so pathetic. I will always back a manager no matter who it is till the time has come he has failed RDM wasn't given a chance at all by a certain few I hope you hang your heads in shame!

03 Oct 2016 09:16:36
Agree mate.

Unless it's Pearson! lol.

03 Oct 2016 09:33:49
Hopefully we get someone asap, they need these two weeks with them.

03 Oct 2016 09:50:24
Just read that RDM has gone, give Sherwood another crack at it, other than him, got to be Big Sam

UTV.

03 Oct 2016 10:00:24
I go every game mate have done 4 20 years and rdm wasnt the man i will tell you i told you so because i told you all at the very start of the season i spotted it but i still went and got behind somethink i didn't really belive in! Pierluigi gollini is the worst goalkeeper i have ever seen hopfully bunn will be number 1 even tho he ent great. he went out and brought striker after striker with no creative midfielder or wingers to set them up. Tactically was clueless he did not have a style of play at all 1 week 433 next 442 next 532 the guy had no idea. It will be tough 4 any manager coming in untill he can buy his own players we need wingers a gk a mid centre an a creative player! So yes i told you so i could see it coming glad my football knowledge is still the best on this site! People saying Rdm was hard done by doubt you go home and away its not the same watching goal flashes on skysports.

03 Oct 2016 12:06:19
^^^^ I rest my case your honour.

03 Oct 2016 13:05:03
So you want gabby back who can't score and kozak back who can't score you sure do know a lot about football don't you.

03 Oct 2016 13:19:05
I agree. But no more poor managers. We need quality managers, if we are to qualify for the Premiership, and there are enough of them out there now.
They will succeed, if Xia gives them the right offer.

The managers I'm thinking that could be interested to come to us are Andre Villas-Boas, Murat Yakin, Besnik Hasi and Constantin Galca. I would go for one of these four, they're all free agents.

03 Oct 2016 13:27:35
You are such a pillock.

03 Oct 2016 13:29:58
Sorry but Mark Bunn are you joking did you see Saturday? He is a nightmare, can't jump whatsoever and makes the defender nervous! Give Steer a shot.

03 Oct 2016 13:54:29
Mr. know. it. all that was for! Lol sorry!

03 Oct 2016 16:47:09
Hi Villadaz why have a go at supporters who don't agree with the managerial appointment of RDM?
I have supported Villa since I was 8, I am now 63 so that makes 55 years, I started going when we had the great Joe Mercer and his Mercer Minors.
I have seen numerous managers, good, bad and indifferent. Some managers were sacked too early some out stayed there welcome, some were very unlucky.
What I do know is I have never sacked a manager never caused a manager to sacked and if it was that easy I would have got rid of Billy McNeil and Joe Venglos considerably earlier in their tenures.
I can honestly say I didn't want RDM, mainly because my Baggies mates were laughing like mad when he was mentioned, some even mentioned the R word that can't be spoken.
I think considering the results and his apparent ineptitude in picking a team and tactics he needed to go, I include Clarke in this as well.
