There does seem to be a divide between Villa fans over Steve Bruce. I'm not going to keep slating the manager, you all know what I think about him and we all know what Villa Daz and a few others think of him. what I do want to talk about is style of play Bruces style is direct and get crosses into the box. nothing wrong with that if you buy players to fit that style.

Lewis grabban and Hogan aren't exactly target men which makes me wonder what goes through his mind buying players because we don't exactly play through balls like liverpool for them to run on to. his style I would say you need a target man and fast wingers ones that are good at crossing.

Another thing we buy players on permanent contracts and we don't play them eg bree lansbury hogan bjarnson and there's more than that but not going to name them all now. Bruce has brought these players, but he decides not to play them and play the loan players his got so is he then saying by that the players he brought aren't good enough or is he not the one buying the players.

I am trying to think why you would pay all this money on these players and not play them? Bruce has got a great record in the championship which is to his credit so his style must work, allthough its not great to watch. Has football moved on since all them promotions years ago, I mean when I grew up everybody played 4 4 2. now its 4 5 1 turning into a 4 3 3, has football changed I think it has.

Moving on from Bruce, if we do sell players and some of the youth aren't good enough we know from selling young and downing and delph, if you don't replace them with the same class we are in trouble. Yes I want to give youth a chance but I have seen the under 23s and out of it all honestly only two or 3 can cut it.

we need to buy younger players but they will cost money. in the same respect I don't want old players past there best. I saw Villa fans fighting at wembley/ friends arguing with one another all over players and Bruce. we lose together we win together yes me and Villadaz disagree, but fighting is not the answer. we need to improve big style because when we are all together nobody can stop us.

By the looks of it, this summer is going to be very busy. let's stop wasting money and put a salary cap on players; say nobody over 30k a week and buy players who are not coming to the end of there career. We all want the best for our club we all love it!

31 May 2018 20:21:59
Something we can agree on WTW in house fighting is embarrassing to say the least. Frustrations can boil over and that is understandable but to spit on another fan is unacceptable and I'm afraid I would have gave the dirt bag a dig also like 90%of people would have. Onto Bruce listen Bruce has his beliefs and he got us from 13th to 4th would you have took that from that position I know I did his style of play is dour I'm not going to deny that a fresh approach is needed. Do I think Bruce is the right man still? The answer to that is a big Yes simply because the players love him and that speaks volumes to me.

31 May 2018 20:48:54
2 good post guys. This is a crucial summer for us and we need to stand together on and off the terraces. Another season in the championship might not be a bad thing. Wait before you all grab your pitch folks let me explain if we had gone up my guess is we would have wasted our budget buying the players on loan and while I know they did well let's no forget that was at championship level and we would have not enjoyed another relegation fight. Now if we can get rid of a few dead wood and build a better core of players when we go up next season hopefully we will be in a better position to kick on. If you look at what's left in the championship apart from somebody doing another Cardiff of Fulham I don't see why we can't run away with it. The teams that are coming down will soon see this league is a battle and I think they will run into the same problems we did.

01 Jun 2018 09:43:09
We are all singing from the same hymn sheet, wasted money on players that don't play. Reluctance to changing the style of play, paying players far too much. The list goes on and on.

As stated we play Hogan or Grabban but fair to give them the supply that they need but when they got the supply, guess what, they sometimes scored.

Our style was defend and then defend some more, then attack and then defend.
At Wembley when we genuinely went forward Fulham were pushed back and we were unlucky.
Can SB change his game? He might try but will always go back. He was a defender and sees a defenders game plan.
Had he been a midfield player he would look at playing in the middle of the park.
The Dr has a decision to make and the sooner the better.

01 Jun 2018 09:55:36
Missed the last bit off,
"Do we park the bus or do we drive the bus? "
If we drive it we know where we are going.
WTW reckons 4.3.3 is the new style but that was played when I was kicking a ball, late 50's early 60's.

Football hasn't changed.

Is it possible that JT could be offered a new deal?
The D/ meal state that he left without an offer being made for him to stay.
I think we are aware that he wanted the prem. But we failed.
Would he have accepted a much poorer offer?
We will never know unless someone can contact him asap. JT enjoyed his stint at AVFC, the team togetherness and us the fans.
Could it happen? Or are the players only interested in the money?

So all the doom merchants and soothsayers know more about running a business (because that's what it is) than a successfull business man. They know more about managing a team than someone who has done it for years with 4 promotions on his record. Yes Bruce has made some errors, so has Mourinho, Ferguson, Wenger, etc. I am as dissapointed at not getting promotion as the rest of you, but you cannot always get what you want. we are supposedly short of 40 mil. but if we offload
Elphik. Gollini, Gil, hogan, McGatestuck, Steer we should raise -12 Mil as well as saving on their wages
We have let go the loan players, Snoddy, Tanuzebe, Johnstone, Onomoah, Grabban
+ Terry + Samba and will save on their wages - 12 mill from sales and another 10ml saved on wages - means 18 mill short.
other possible outgoings - Taylor, Lansbury, Jedi, Wheelan, would raise 4 Mil+ wage saving. it would leave us very short and so need to rely on the kids ( not a bad thing) loans, and free agents.
Would need a no1 keeper, Centre half,
Team could look like this
new keeper
Bree
Chester
New Centrehalf
Hutton
Thor
Hourihan
Grealish (If we can get 1 more year from him)
Adomha
Kodja
Green

Subs from
RHP
Jedi
Bunn
Borg
Ohare
Lyden
Davis
McKirdy
Bedeau.

31 May 2018 16:16:04
We should be getting £3.5m for Golding and a similar amount for Gil. Hogan is a quandary and some one will be prepared red to pay around 8/ 10. Elphick, Jockstrap and St err should raise £5m, Taylor Lansbury should add another £4/ £5m making around £25M. If we really sell as opposed to accepting we could get 30+M and we are on our way
Yes still short but as you state the reduction in pay will save us more money but that is spread over the year. According to reports players are getting 30 average per week so moving the unwanted could make 300k weekly So. the sooner the better.
The question then is who is in charge?
Another manager would be paid a lot less than SB and that is a further saving.
It's not all good or bad but we must lose our poor style and move forward or fall into the doldrums and then start to reconstruct from a much smaller base.

31 May 2018 16:31:31
I'd put Jedi at the back with Chester mort13 and if Grealish does go then play Thor Behind the front 2.

04 Jun 2018 11:16:15
Villadaz - It Jdei goes centre half which he could then Thor becomes the holding midfielder.

Gone are the days of good chairmen now there's probably a few abramovich, man citys, an spurs, which are passionate about there clubs . I wish we could go bck to the Ellis years atleast the club was stable an the man actually cared 100 percent about villa . most new owners just see cash signs thinking they are going to rake in loads of money, look at city owners bet they have spent well over a bilion on players since they have been there so your telling me city owners making a killing in profits no, there in it to win titles an try an win champs league, that's why they have some of the best players in the world an 1 of the beSt managers, an plus they have now a world class training ground, wot I'm trying to say is they had a plan an vision and a identity, have villa got a plan an identity we haven't had 1 since O'Neil there was a plan an vision it was top 4 an we were on cusp of till Lerner realised he couldn't bank roll it any more that's when we lost everything an the ship started to sink yeah O'Neil did waste sum cash but he made some good signings aswell . I pray to see that style of footie again . there is light thou in my opinion our youth set up could save us millions by promoting about 5 or 6 to the 1st team, an whose to it won't work leeds have done manu arsenal, spurs, fulham most recent to do it you just need to have fAith in your youngsters yeah they will make mistakes it's normal we all make mistakes even me ha ha, but that will make them better because they will learn from there mistakes, there's only 2 things that's more important to me than villa my wife an life even thou I told the wife villas more important
Ha ha . we all love villa an want the best for our, that's why I like this site it's full of different views an the mount of arguments that happen on here is like being at home with my 2 daughters ha ha anyway villa will be bck 1 day the club will always be there no matter of what players an manager we have no1s bigger than the club.

31 May 2018 13:17:48
So tell me this then when Bruce played the kids against also a weakened Boro side in the cup how did we get on? And if I recall most was sagging Bruce off for that. If they was to promote some kids from the under 23s you think they would all play? Do you think all our kids are world beaters because I'm sure if they was they would have been snapped up by now. We have maybe 2 or 3 that are good enough for the 1st team squad that is it.

31 May 2018 14:23:02
1 game doesn't mean anything mate that's the stupidst thing I've herd wots the point in having an academy if you say to them u have just 1 game to prove urself, an u say I need to be educated 😂😂😂 listen to urself mate.

31 May 2018 14:30:55
If there were world beaters real, N Barcelona would be after them I never said they were world beaters did I, I said we have sum good youngsters read my posts, you blood them in gradually Bruce does not play them hardly . wots the point in having an academy if we don't promote any of them, I take it u don't agree with youth all the moaning your doing mate.

31 May 2018 14:59:49
So let's get this straight as a youngster you are given a chance to play in a cup tie do you 1 try your hardest and play out of your skin so that hopefully you can make the 1st team squad on a Saturday and give the manager something to think about? Or do you 2 just run about make a few good passes then resort to the fact that you know you won't make the 1st team? I know what most would do. And the answer to your question yes I am in favour of youth coming through but only if they are good enough and as I've said if they were any good I'm sure they would have been promoted to the 1st team squad after all all the management have been in the game a lot longer and see what goes on at the Recon training complex MATE.

31 May 2018 15:21:27
The same youngsters played against peterbough in the f. a cup and again we lost 2 chances to prove and 2 failed. I'll agree there are some that could make the grade but they need nurturing in like grealish has been. Green is the best in the bunch and in my opinion should start at left wing next season. The others well they have to stand up and be counted. Tough road ahead but it in not the end UTV.

31 May 2018 15:25:48
Villadaz, I can see some logic in your post, but I am also of the opinion that the young players should now be given a chance.
One game against Middlesbrough tells you absolutely nothing, and should be dismissed as a game full of expectant and nervous errors, they fade in time like the stitch does.
If what you are saying were true, how do you explain Man Utd losing to Villa 3-1 and then going on to win the league.
Players need to be thrown in the deep end, and when the initial nerves and panic disappear, they more often than not find they can swim.

31 May 2018 15:36:59
The reason Bruce doesn't play them mate is because he's afraid to he likes his more experienced slow old players, an plus I remember when fergie blooded about 6 youngsters against us 1st game of the season in the 90s we beat 3/ 1 an guess who won the league with youngsters, just because you loose 1 game doesn't mean anything your going to loose games anyway, wots your point u haven't really said it's pointless what u said.

31 May 2018 15:47:54
Cmon Dave football was different back then to how it is now is any of our youth players as good as Man U? Is O hare a Paul Scholes? Is Green a Giggs? And so on they was very special players indeed all I'm saying is if they are good enough promote them and obviously they wasn't. This season is a no win situation for any manager that I charge.

31 May 2018 16:18:22
What do you mean cmon.
What has the way the game was played back then got to do with it Daz.
Players of today have grown up playing football the way it is played today, and we will never know how good they are unless they are played will we?
Have you ever thought that they matured into good players because of the faith and confidence that was bred into them by Ferguson.
Ryan Sessegnon, is as good as any man utd player back then, he has matured through being played and by people telling him how good he is.
We might just have a couple ourselves just waiting to blossom.

31 May 2018 16:43:17
Villa4eva in the words of Manuel off Faulty Towers "Ke"?

31 May 2018 17:32:10
Dave it wasn't meant in a sarcastic way! Your right we might have some young players ready to blossom ill put it this way to you then if we play the youth and we struggle who will get the blame? The manager will the fans will be on his back and yet it was some who called for the youth just out of interest how did the under 23s get on in the final against another team of under 23s and this team have been called winners yet the 1st team who at the start struggled until we could got more experienced players in. We reached as a club 2 finals and failed in both the Championship is more harder than under 23s games IMO.

31 May 2018 18:35:20
Thing is Daz, he is getting slatted for playing the experience way, so make it clear at the start of the season that he intends to give the younger ones a chance.
You are damned if you do, and damned if you don`t.

31 May 2018 09:48:48
We became dinosaurs following Lerners tenure at AVFC.
Dinosaurs became extinct when they could not develop.
Our AVFC have repeated the process and could also become history.
The time for change has to be now and our own dino's must depart.
I want to see the Dr as someone that will grasp the nettle and take up the challenge. He has to own the problem, he owns AVFC.
We have players on ridiculous money that I hope is ring fenced for failing.
Some will have to go to balance the books but the first decision is the manager. Many on here see the end of SB and want a more progressive manager to drive us forward. However, no longer can we say we are AVFC as this now means nothing. Any manager at VP will have a budget less than my wife spends on her hairdresser. Passion will replace funds. Some of the young Lions will come up and toe the line but some may not stay the pace and end up down the leagues.
We can all give reasons for players to depart and those that should stay and these decisions must be the manager's alone.
So who will be in the electric chair come August? The Dr must act now in order for our manager to assess what he has in place and what he needs for 2018/ 19.
If we stay more than this season in the Champs then I see a repeat of the late 60's when we slid down the greasy pole into the old division 3.
We all know what happened after that!
Possibly the greatest modern period of AVFC.
Let's avoid the full repeat of history and concentrate on the early 80's. Strong manager who seldom smiled but gave us glory. Is there another man out there to do this for us the faithful? Don't take too long finding our saviour, I ain't got that long to go.
COME ON YOU VILLAN'S.

31 May 2018 08:57:13
My Thoughts on the manager!
I think Bruce will stay going from what I gather on the owners statement,
But if he does go the only one I would go for is Dean Smith,
Based mainly on his work with young players and his style of football,
That's all I want to say on this matter really,

Review Of The Day 31st May 2018

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 31st May 2018

31 May 2018 04:50:56
Our chairmens really clever isn't he by gambling on villas future by parachute payments praying that if we spend big we will go up, an now it has bck fired an he isn't taking the blame at all, its simple if you haven't got the money don't spend it, an tbf we wasted 80Mil or so on average players really apart from jeDi an terry and apointed an old fashioned manager he's supposed to a business man, so why didn't he have a proper plan ahead with villa with a manager that could be trusted with that money to build a team to get us to the prem, now we are going to have to sell all our best players, haven't we learnt our lessons b4 selling bentekke, Delph, vlaar, bent, given, that's why we got relegated . you can't sell your best players and expect to be in the play offs no chance, villa will be in bottom 10 now an that's not me being a doomer at all I just can't see where we go or less we get a manager that's going to build the team by useing our youth players that could work look at fulham.

31 May 2018 08:23:21
We can all blame the Dr, wyness, round, or Bruce But end of day we are in the brown stuff big time,
We fans need to stick together and just pray that we get through this because as I said 2 days ago we could be another Coventry on the horizon,
It's not great to be a villa fan at this time and we are all hurting and if Bruce is still here start of season we need to get behind him and just hope he has learned by his mistakes with his tactics in most matches,
He gives all teams to much respect and sitting back in games has come back to haunt us,
Can a leopard change his spots?
He does need to approach games very differently to how he has over the years,
He has ignored the young talent to often and now we have no choice but to blood some into the squad,
If you feel lucky you can get 10/ 1 for villa to win championship,
Don't think there will be many takers on that bet,
