There is no point in reviewing yesterday's dismal performance but it did reflect the attitude of the players. They would not play for PL and now they won't play for TS.
He got the tactics totally wrong.
With some good fortune we could have new owners before August, possibly a new manager and several new players.
Living in the land of the gooners I am having to kep my head down and I wish Lerner had kept his head where it usually is, up his . He sat in the best seats in the ground and seemed to take little interest. I may be wrong but I believe that he no longer has any idea what goes on at VP.
The sooner he goes away the better.

Come off it Oldvillain. Can you not make a comment without harping back to your point about Lambert ?
We were outclassed by a much, much better team. And yes, Sherwood made some mistakes
But with the players at his disposal; Lambert's players, there is little we could have done against an Arsenal team who turned up with their A game.
Few teams in this country could have stopped them on that form
The real test for Sherwood will come in the summer.

Got to agree with Mendax, even at our absolute best we would have struggled against Arsenal - that was definitely the best they have played this season. Yes the players weren't on it and Sherwood could have changed things sooner (same for the Southampton game) but that doesn't warrant getting a new manager in for next season. Sherwood has earned a chance to mould a team of his own after what he did to keep us up.

And as much as Paul Lambert needed to go - perhaps even sooner than he did - he did what he could in terms of player recruitment with the funds available, and obviously not all of them are the right calibre. Hull invested 43 million this season and look where they are. PL had that to spend over 3 seasons.

Hope your right on the Lerner front Oldvillian, he needs to go and he needs to go quick.

I agree with both of you on Lerner. The sight of him laughing in the crowd, more than once, made me feel sick
I haven't laughed since Saturday !
I really hope there is a decent buyer in the pipeline now that we have secured our Premier League status

Its clear he hasn't got the passion for the club anymore. The last premiership game I saw him at was a Chelsea match early in the season where you could see him on MOTD sat next to Roman Abramovich. The kicker was they weren't playing Villa!

Hi all I know your all bitterly disappointed by yesterday and rightly so, us Arsenal fans are no strangers to seeing our team not turn up for big games, Stamford bridge and Anfield last season took some watching plus Monaco at home this season to name the most recent ones.
if someone had said to you on new years day that you can have premier league football next season plus an fa cup final with all its build up and excitement and all the wins along the way not to mention that feeling on semi final night when you beat Liverpool but you have to be awful in the final its self, could you have honestly said no to that offer ?
My point is yesterday was a very bad day at the office for you but in comparison to how things looked a few months back a disappointing day out at Wembley ain't the worst that could have happened to you this season

You're right, I think most of us would have taken that offer but there's a difference between playing badly and a complete regression back to the football played under Paul Lambert. I can take losing (were quite used to it) but that performance was dire; we didn't have a single shot and combined with the losses at relegated Burnley and that demolition by the Saints it feels like all the good work Sherwood had done to keep us up is unravelling.

I've got to agree Andy you were as terrible as we were fantastic yesterday, at the start of the 2nd half I had to remind myself we'd changed ends because with the ease and little resistance we were going forward it felt like we were going back to our own goal for a minute.
Personally I think Tims fresh face and feel good factor impact arrived just in time to keep you up and get you to Wembley but the bubble burst shortly after both were achieved.
This summers transfer deals both in and out will tell us all a lot about nice but Tim and next season it will be his team that goes out each week.

Great
Outclassed in the FA Cup final , then patronised by other supporters
Thanks for telling us how plucky we were and what we should be grateful for

Apologies it was never ment to be patronizing but reading it back again I suppose it could be taken that way.
Sorry for any offence none intended.

Fair play to you for the apology mate. You don't get much of that on here
As you can probably tell, feelings are still a little raw.
Sorry to bite your head off.

Fair comment, my timing could and should have been much better.
Good luck for next season villa are a big club who will sooner rather than later be once again in and around the European places.
